The service was great. It was just a really good experience. A lot of times you are just unhappy and they don't show up or they are late. He did everything that they said and more. We were more than happy.
Description of Work: They did brickwork on our chimney. They kind of rebuilt it and then put a cap on the top.

They came out and then we had a roofer put our roof on. He looked at their work and gave me three things that were unprofessional about their work. Then I called them back and he came out after the roof was on and fixed it.

Having just purchased our home, we've worked with nearly 20 contractors for various projects. Jerriod and his crew were without question the best of any contractor we've dealt with for our house. They were punctual, professional, courteous, conscientious, and cared about quality in their work. I've already recommended them to 2 of my neighbors and would gladly them recommend to anyone considering a stone/masonry project.

This is the second time we've used Jerrod's services - but definitely not the last. He was again thorough, professional, provided good quotes up front, and gave great suggestions. Obviously, with all of that - he is busy. Yet he sets accurate expectations on when he can start (we've scheduled out later than we wanted rather than have anyone else) - and when he is on project he is excellent at communicating. He and his crew are very considerate and polite. When he hasn't been working a project - Pablo is great at communicating and also sharing suggestions. On this project we had a few contractors working in the same area (major drainage repair at the same time as new masonry). When one part of the project required removing some finely crushed stone - rather than hauling it away at a higher cost - Pablo had a great idea to use it on a beat up dirt/stone path to our backyard. This was a terrific idea (though at first I didn't see it - Pablo talked me through it). Jerrod has also been good in the past at letting us know what would need to be removed (usually dirt) and walking the property to see if we need it somewhere else. That might not seem huge - but these guys do top quality work and we are happy to pay for that. I have no doubts that our retaining walls are installed well and will stay straight/drain well... and the very visible finish walls are beautiful. But the level of conscientiousness to find ways to be efficient and cost effective and thoughtful of our future needs is well above and beyond.

They did a great job. After initial consultation owner Jerrod showed up with two masonry workers on time on scheduled day. After initial framing the two continued with the job on their own. Both experienced, pleasant and hard working. The job was being charged by the hour and I felt comfortable that they were working efficiently and without wasting time.. They finished the work in a day which was as was indicated to me up front. They cleaned up nicely. This was work on a rental and work was being done while tenant was home. Tenant satisfied with the situation as well. Project looks nice. They knew what they were doing and the workmanship was good. I would definitely recommend their services.

The job went well. Archstone Masonry did exactly as needed and agreed upon. Archstone's work was timely, sound and of high quality. Upon installation of all new windows in our 1950 brick veneer house it was discovered that the brick above the front living room window had cracked and dropped due to the failure of the angle iron header supporting it. This interrupted the window job until it could be addressed. Archstone Masonry saved the day with an efficient, timely rebuild of the brick above the window. The job required removal, cleanup and relaying of less than 30 square feet of brick over the window and rising up a gable. Scaffolding was required. A two man crew completed the rebuild in one day. They returned for a couple of hours the next morning to clean up. I spoke personally with Jerrod Rhynalds, the owner of Archstone Masonry. Mr. Rhynalds is good to work with. He is a nice man who knows his trade and is a man of his word. When he is in the field it is not always possible to get right in touch with him. I see on Angie?s List that someone graded him way down because of a failed call-back. I left a couple of messages for him myself before he got back to me ? a small price to pay for a good man doing good work.

My daughter recommended Jerrod Reynalds of Archstone Masonry. He had worked on the chimney at her place a year before. I signed up for his Angie's List offer of 16 hours of masonry work. I wrote him and asked him to evaluate the project. He called back immediately and came promptly. He then prepared a proposal which specified the above tasks with estimated labor hours for each. Upon acceptance he was able to schedule a crew two days later. The crew was there at 8:00AM. Jerrod had thoughtfully called me around 7:30 to say he was stuck in I405 traffic, and would be a couple of minutes late. When he came (8:15?) it was clear he had thought through all the work, and had brought the right tools and the necessary materials. His three-man crew immediately took the job from there. They were done in early afternoon. Jerrod knew I had an appointment in late morning so scheduled all the indoors work (replacing fire brick and acid washing) to be done while I was present. The men put out tarps which were effective to the point that there was minimal dust on nearby furniture, easily caught with a damp cloth. His lead man, Dave, was easy to talk with, careful (he ensured all brick cutting was done outside with the door closed), and seemed to have no waste motion, (no remeasuring). I had no contact with the others . Jerrod's bill was as prompt and thorough as all the other parts of this process. I'd refer him and his company Archstone for any masonry work in the future. My daughter was right; it was a good referral. Overall, from time of contact to completion the job was done in three weeks.
Description of Work: Replaced deteriorated fire brick in the back of the fireplace. Removed the chimney crown and replaced it. Relaid loose brick on top of the chimney and resealed flashing. Acid washed the brick on the face of another fireplace. Removed some glazed creosote in the chimney. Cleaned up the resulting debris on the smoke shelf.

My job was a small one and it's sometimes difficult to find a contractor who will help with such a small job. Jerrod Rhynalds was very responsive and even promptly rescheduled the service after sending his employee out the first time only to have heavy rains make doing the work impractical. The quality of work was excellent. I was out of town on the day the work was done and they did everything as well as I could have hoped, including a very thorough cleanup.

Jerrod was very quick to respond to my request for an estimate. He kept in contact with me throughout and was very quick to answer any of my questions. They were able to schedule the work quickly and Jerrod's team showed up on time (a little early even) and went to work. I was amazed at how fast a chimney could be torn down and rebuilt, all in 8 hours, and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely use Archstone Masonry again!

Meet with Jarrod a number of times to go over the stone choices and schedule. To be honest, I changed my mind 3-4 times during the process and Jarrod was supportive and never got frustrated with the requested changes. Choose the stone, Jarrod and his crew showed up on time and performed the work. The outcome exceeded my expectations. If you need masonry work I would highly recommend Archstone.

Jerrod did an amazing job for a very reasonable price last winter on a chimney at a duplex I own. I noticed some dampness on the brick of the chimney in the basement. Jerrod came out to the duplex and inspected everything for over an hour. It turns out everything was fine with the chimney and it had nothing to do with the rain caps he installed last year. I insisted on paying him for his time and he wouldn't accept any money from me. He was happy to inspect everything to be sure the chimney was working great for my tenants. This type of workmanship and ethics is rare and I will ALWAYS use Jerrod for any future chimney repair work. I highly recommend him!!!!
Description of Work: Jerrod put rain caps on the chimney, did some mortar work, inspected the chimney and put new flashing on the chimney in Dec 2013. In Nov 2014, I noticed some dampness on the brick of the chimney in the basement so Jerrod came out to inspect it.

The wholeprocess was as professional as could be. Jerrod (the owner) came out on Oct 8 and estimated the chimney. I accepted and Jerrod scheduled crew to come out two weeks later. The next week, Jerrod called to say that he had an opening and could start early if we wanted, so he ended up starting work a week after the estimate. He and a 3 man crew came out and they went to work. Jerrod worked a couple of hours with his crew as they got going, and I saw him reviewing with each of them exactly what he wanted done. The crew worked hard the rest of the day and finished the work. Jerrod came back the following day and acid washed all of the work and reviewed it with me. I saw a couple of missing joints and Jerrod scheduled a mason to come back and fix these, which happened a few days later. The work is nice. The price was not dirt cheap, but I am pretty picky and these guys are definitely professionals. I think it was worth the money. Jerrod is a nice guy, you will no doubt like him. The guys on his crew were also nice people. This fact certainly makes working with them a much nicer experience. I would have to rate the communication with Jerrod throughout both via email and voice as top notch. I contacted a couple of other masons (left voice messages or sent email) and heard back from only one other (also on Angie's list), who wanted to wrap my chimney in plastic for the winter and schedule me for next June (at a higher price than this too)! Bottom line is my wife says she is really happy with how the chimneys look and I liked dealing with them. Recommended.

The planter did not meet our expecations. We called the owner and it took several months for him to come back. The work was sloppy and did not look like a professional job. (chipped bricks were placed, lots of extra mudding was present). The owner did not resolve our issue. We can only imagine what the interior of our chimney looks like. Is there a lot of extra cement inside?!

Response from Archstone Masonry
We went out to the residence and repaired the chimney and rebuilt a planter box per our proposal. We completed the job in two days and billed the customer through email. A few months later I received a partial payment. I then again billed out to get final payment, I never heard that anything was wrong. I did get a call and did not have her # to call her back. I called her husband ( only had his #)and left a message. I finally spoke with her husband discussed what we could do and asked what he thought? In the middle of our conversation our connection was lost and I called him back immediately, got his voice mail and left another message in detail about the project and asked for him to call me and I still have yet to hear back. The issue she had was the mortar joints on the interior of the planter were not jointed, but parged. 99% of all masonry is never struck (jointed) on the interior of the wall or fireplace. The interior of the planter box is to be covered with dirt. The house is built out of old reclaimed (used, not new) brick and the only way to keep the same look is to get reclaimed brick from the salvage yard (which we did) and clean the existing brick to match. It matches perfectly! She didn't like it because we used a 'used' brick. I would have recommended new brick as it would have saved me the time of cleaning the old brick (labor intensive) however the final product (size, color and shape) would not have matched at all. The customer asked for a credit, however I explained that we do not offer credits, as we feel it is more important to complete the project to the customers satisfaction and once again we have yet to hear back with what their decision was. In summary, this job was completed in 2013 and we still have yet to hear back from the customer with how we can complete the job to their satisfaction or receive final payment. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction.

Their quote was 2-3 times higher than any other competitors (received 3 bids from different companies) and would only come out to do the work if the bill was going to be a certain dollar amount or higher. This is not a part of the coupon details and is not a fair consumer experience. Please refund me for this purchase and cancel this coupon. Thank you, Lauralee Flaherty jense12@frontier.com

I spoke with [member name removed] Husband 2 months after the project was bid ( I had to call him). The chimney was in really bad shape and needed to be partially rebuilt and repointed. The mortar was in EXTREMELY bad shape and needed to be repointed from the base to the roof (14'). The issue was that the top of the chimney is twisted and leaning, due to this there were not many options! I cannot put our name on a repair to a chimney of that shape. There are many opinions out there and I'm sure you could find a contractor that can do it for less. We pride ourselves on doing a great service at a fair price! I'm sorry that you felt our price was unfair and I hope someone repairs it the right way!

It went good. They came out and said that my chimney cap was all gone so they just put something on there. I did not even know what a chimney cap was so I was like, "What is that?" So, I Googled it and I was like, "Oh, it is real." They did not charge me anything above the expected price. They had a pretty standard price. They were the same as everybody else. If I were to recommend them to a family member, I would say, "They will fix your chimney." They were reliable and nice. They were great.
