Jerrod took the time to explain what he proposed to do and how long it would take to complete the job. He and his crew were punctual, professional, and impeccable in their work. I was particularly impressed with the care that they took to protect everything surrounding the site, covering and cleaning up each day, and completely cleaning up the yard at the end of the project. I couldn't be happier with the end result and would happily recommend Archstone Masonry to anyone needing masonry services.

Jerrod and Aaron were great to work with. I originally called Jerrod several months back to get a bid. He came out within a day and provided a professional estimate. He answered all of my questions promptly. When I emailed him on a Sunday to schedule the work, he said they could start the next day. Since we had not yet looked at brick colors, Jerrod and his crew did the demolition of the old chimney stack the first day. He met with my wife at the brick supplier and helped her select the best color brick for the project. That afternoon the chimney was complete. Jerrod came back the next day and did some repair work on the firebox. Originally the bid called for several hundred dollars of firebox repair, but when he got started he realized it wasn't as much work as he thought. The firebox repair ended up at 10% of the original estimate for the repair - he could easily have not adjusted his price and we may not have been any wiser. Overall the experience with Jerrod was great. We would hire him again (and probably will for another masonry project).

This project was a dream come true. Jerrod Rhynalds is a fantastic communicator. I was never in doubt about what came next in the work flow. Each morning he gave me a status report and explained what would be done that day and what would be done the next day, where we were in the process and when it would be completed. Jerrod and his crew were always on-time and cordial. They prepped the work site with scaffolding, platforms, and tarps to protect my porch deck and surrounding plantings. They worked meticulously and quickly. Each evening, I returned from work to find a very satisfying amount of progress. When the job was done, they washed the porch and surrounding areas, treated the bricks, and made all the masonry look fantastic. My recommendation to anyone with a masonry or stonework job: contract with Archstone Masonry. You will not be disappointed.
Description of Work: Jeremy and his crew tuckpointed my chimney and three brick porch pillars, rebuilt a small brick sidewall and added new concrete capstones to that wall, and restored the cobblestone risers on the steps to my porch by re-mortaring the grout around each cobblestone.

I contacted Jerrod to give me an estimate for cleaning the exterior chimney brick. He came out within a week and was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He inspected the chimney and gave me a bid to do the work. I had him power wash the brick and install two chimney caps which he had a coupon for on Angie's List. He and his employee, Aaron, did the work following the estimate and I couldn't be more pleased. The brick looked better than I could have imagined and they were very careful not to get any debris on my garden below. Clean up was great! Previous to having Archstone come out, I had another contractor out to give me an estimate for the same thing. That company came back with a whole list of things that they said I needed done to my chimney. They made it sound extremely urgent that I got these things fixed. This included new flashings that they said were rusted out and the chimney crown was cracked and needed to be sealed, and I had a "mold hazard" going on. The list went on and on and all I had asked for was to get my chimney cleaned. The quote for this work to be done was for $3,250.00. They did not want to break the quote down it was a package deal. Thankfully I smelled a rotten egg here! Long story short, I showed Jerrod the estimate from the other contractor and he looked everything over and told me that none of that work needed to be done. He explained in great detail what each item was and why it was not necessary. It was just a big scam (my words). Jerrod is a mason by trade, very professional and honest as they come! I highly recommend Archstone Masonry! Jerrod and Aaron are the best!

They did the job. When I used the chimney, it backed up fumes into the house. They came back out and they cut off part of the cover over the top of chimney to help with the exhaust. It didn’t help. I ended up having someone else come to vacuum the flue because of the concrete that was dropped during Archstone Masonry process and it was blocking the exhaust. They were more than willing to come out and work with me but in the end I had to have someone else come out and spend more money.

Response from Archstone Masonry
We came out to the clients house to install a rain cover and chimney crown that had been off for many years. She told us to proceed with the work. We went and installed a concrete crown over the top of the chimney and the stone rain cover. Their furnaces exhaust started to back up. I came out and removed the rain cover ( no charge ) over the furnace flu. I noticed that the flu needed to be vacuumed out the ash from over the years had built up and mostly blocked the exhaust pipe. I offered to vacuum the ash out. I always try to make the client happy. Even when the work isn't profitable.

,The owner of Archstone Masonry, Jerrod Rhynalds, gave an estimate to totally rebuild the 35 year old chimney which had loose bricks and a cracked capstone. The estimate included hauling away the old bricks. Fortunately his jobs schedule was such that he was able to get the project scheduled within two weeks. An online selection of bricks was also provided. He and his worker were punctual, careful, and professional throughout the setup, build, and cleanup. The old chimney was demolished in the afternoon; next morning they started building the chimney and let it dry overnight. The next afternoon, the capstone mortar was made on site and poured. When finished it looked quite good and obviously professional.

We called Archstone and met with Jerrod at the house. Right away we felt that he knew alot about Masonry He is a very nice young man and did every thing and more that what he said he would do. We would definately use him again and highly recommend him.
Description of Work: We have a house in Seattle that is 113 years old. The last roof we had put on was over 30 years ago. The roofer that came out said it would be a good idea to have a Mason come and tuck point the failing mortar joints on the furnace stack and to install flashing on the chimney. I was very happy when I saw on Angies list that Archstone Masonry was offering $800 worth of Masonry for $399 Because of the roof pitch, Jerrod had to install scaffolding at the house to do the job. We also had him install new crowns, flu liners and rain covers, plus what the Roofer recommended.

We had some difficulties setting the initial appointment with Archstone Masonry. But Jerrod made up for it with his knowledge and patience. We had known that rain caps needed to be installed when we bought our house, but Jerrod was extremely helpful when discussing how to solve a smoky chimney. He took the time to answer all our questions and also tailored general recommendations which can be found online and then explained which might work considering OUR situation (ie: we have two chimneys... one on the main floor and one in the basement). The crew arrived a little early, were prepared, and did a great job. It only took a day to complete the job and the suggestions Jerrod made have improved the smoky chimney. Would definitely work with Archstone Masonry again.

The project went smoothly even in mildly inclement weather. They were late on the first day due to weather, traffic, and a supplier snafu. Heavier than desired rainfall prevented pouring the chimney caps, necessitating a second day. The second day proceeded without problems. They arrived on -time and were able to start when local codes allowed. All work was completed, the scaffolding removed, and the work area cleaned up of debris. I did provided the limited power and water for their equipment. I recommend that the need for owner-supplied utilities be discussed for larger projects.
Description of Work: The owner inspected the chimney for needed work and then scheduled the work at at open date in his schedule. The work consisted on power washing the chimney, redoing chimney caps, cleaning out and repointing as necessary, and installing new chimney flue caps. The company installed scaffolding for the chimney work rather than working for ladders. They were very conscious of safety issues.

I bought the Angie Deal to have a chimney cap installed for $129. I emailed on Thursday, got a call back on Monday. Jerrod, the owner was here Monday afternoon to check it out. He thoroughly explained all the issues with my chimney (I knew it needed work). and showed me pictures of what was wrong. He gave me two options, the less expensive 5 year fix or the much more, but much needed, re-pointing of the top 4 feet which was not in my budget right now. So what he did: Installed a new crown, two chimney caps, re-laid 1 course of brick, and re-pointed approx 2 sq feet. I am pleased with the work and will call them again when it comes time to do the bigger job.
