Jerrod was great to work with. We initially contact him several months before and then had to delay the job because of some other issues that came up, and he picked up where we left off in our discussions. He helped us determine the shape and look of the new wall. It came out great and we have had several compliments from neighbors.
Description of Work: Removed cracked brick retaining wall, rebuilt and extended the wall with 2 ht. changes and new columns, one with a light. Capped new light column and old columns.

Great communication, professional and prompt. He did all the work we had agreed to, and a little additional work that ended up being needed at no extra cost. He also educated us on what we needed to do to maintain the chimney in good condition. We had a great experience and I would recommend him to anyone.

Jerrod was extremely professional. He was on-time, kept us updated, and worked with us to find the best/least costly option. He was coming into a very unpleasant situation for us, where GMG Construction had failed to resolve the issue and we were having containers and towels inside to catch the water. Jerrod was calm and professional and had a level of knowledge that was obvious and proved very accurate. He spent the time to educate us about the chimney and also to walk our property and talk through some of our longer term goals with masonry (retaining wall, raised gardens, outdoor firepit, indoor gas fire place). We will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: we have a stone chimney that was leaking from several places into the house. another mason had tried to fix unsuccessfully. Jerrod came over a few times and talked to us about options and risks with a very old chimney like ours. He and his guys came over and capped both chimneys (nice looking stainless steel caps) and ground out/re-grouted and used sealer on the chimney in many places to stop the leak.

He and his partner were professional. There were scheduling problems and had to be rescheduled. The color of chimney did not match the original color. There were extra charges on in addition to the purchase of the Big Deal, and only did necessary repairs.

I got a big deal from Angie's List and used it to have my furnace and fireplace chimneys repaired after an inspection on my house said that was necessary. Jerrod of Archstone Masonry was easy to work with, came over and looked at the chimneys and gave a bid for the basic work and an additional bid if the work to realign some bricks which were jutting out (and had been doing so for over 40 years) necessitated the rebuilding of the chimney stack. Fortunately this was not required. They did the work and cleaned up afterword.
Description of Work: Repaired loose bricks at our main chimney. Installed new concrete crowns and power washed both furnace and fireplace chimneys. Installed new raincovers

The service turned out well, they did a great job. I paid more because I needed more work than was on the big deal. They were very comprehensive, they were very thorough, they were fast, and they left little to no trace of the work that they did around my yard.
Description of Work: We had purchased a big deal from Archstone Masonry. They repointed all my exterior brickwork including my porch. They rebuilt a chimney stack, and they pointed it as well.

Jarrod was very professional and most importantly, HONEST! I had two bids on this job. The inspector I had for this property I purchased said that the chimney could be repaired and wouldn't have to be rebuilt. The first bid I got from a different Angies List chimney company tried to tell me I had to sweep the chimneys, they were unsafe and I needed a complete rebuild. I was suspicious so when Jarrod arrived and looked carefully at my chimneys, he told me they were absolutely safe, did not need to be swept and that he could easily repair them. This was a fraction of the cost the other company quoted me. Jarrod was professional, punctual and did a great job for a reasonable price. I will use him for all of my chimney work in the future!!!

Jerrod was very responsive and professional. He came to my home while I was at work to inspect the chimney cap then promptly emailed me with a quote. Since it was a shorter job (just removing and replacing our cement chimney cap), he was able to fit us in within a couple of weeks. He was professional in all of his dealings. Afterwards, he emailed us with an invoice that matched his quote and we inspected the work and mailed in a check. It was one of the quickest and easiest home improvement projects we've had yet! Thanks Jerrod and Archstone Masonry.

They came in and cut out the bad mortar and replaced it with new. We had some initial difficulty making contact/communicating, but once we had a date in the calendar, everything went very smoothly. The team was friendly and helpful with answering questions. They deserve a A-/B+ rather than a straight B!

Archstone Masonry repaired some brick work at a rental house I own. The work looked great, very professional. Unfortunately, my tenant complained that the worker left "a mess" which I interpret to mean he left white coating on the concrete walkway around the repairs, which doesn't rinse off. Archstone offered to send someone to clean it chemically, but I chose not to. I bought a $400 (or 499?) coupon from Angie's List for $800 worth of work. Now I have a $200 credit to use but I'm afraid they will be quite expensive to use on the larger project I've been contemplating.

The work was scheduled the work for November or January but Jerrod called to say he had an opening. He gave us guidance on the brick and created a design that could have come from 1919. The new fireplace and hearth are lovely and fit well in the craftsman house. The work was done quickly. He and his masons were professional, on time and considerate.

I had good e-mail communication with the owner. There was a slight delay starting because I ordered and installed new windows in the wall they were re-building. They were able to re-schedule to meet my delivery times. The last part of this project was repairing a brick coping that was going to be delayed one day due to another project but they made a special effort to get the job done on the appointed day by working late. The site was cleaned and all materials hauled away.
Description of Work: Re-built the south wall of the first floor of a brick veneer house from existing bricks that I removed from the house. They took the bricks off site, cleaned them and then re-built the wall. They used good flashing and mortar.

I purchased the Big Deal to repair the chimney hoping that the cost would not exceed what we considered a reasonable repair cost. The quote came 2+x what we expected. My husband feels the repair cost is too high and that he can do the repair for the price of the Big Deal, $399 or less, for the cost of the materials.

Everything was great. There's a huge amount of dust generated with tuckpointing work, but they did a great job wrapping the windows and the work area, so that my neibghbor's house (very close by) wasn't impacted. They were punctual, and actually got to my job earlier than expected because of a cancellation. The only problem was that after the work was down my basement showed water pooling along the south wall for the very first time. Archstone responded to my request to talk to them about this, and they came out to take a look. There are many possible factors that could have caused this, and I felt they did listen. Now that the rains have started this will be a problem I need to fix, likely by having a french drain put in.
Description of Work: Started as a bid to take down the top 5' of my chimeny, rebuild, and remortar. Then I asked for a fuller bid that would include redoing the mortar (tuckpointing) for the entire chimney, and another bid for redoing the tuckpointing of the entire south side of my Tudor house. It made sense to have all the work done at once, and I went with the fullest bid.

WALTER , THE MASON DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF UTILIZING WHAT HE HAD. THE MAIN PROBLEM WAS THE COMPANY THAT MADE THE ORIGINAL VENEERS WASN'T MAKING IT ANYMORE SO HE HAD TO USED SOME OF THE BROKEN VENEER THAT WAS STILL SERVICEABLE AND USE CAULKING IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE FINISHED PRODUCT WAS ALMOST PERFECT. VERY PROFESSIONAL. THE REASON I GAVE THE COMPANY A ''B'' OVERALL WAS THE OWNER JERROD NOT BEING THAT PUNCTUAL ABOUT GETTING BACK TO ME. HE WAS KNOWLEDGEABLE AND PROFESSIONAL IN ALL OTHER ASPECTS BUT HE COULD KICK THE COMMUNICATION UP A NOTCH. IF HE DID I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THE COMPANY AN "A" R

I saw Archstone on Angie's list "big deal" for something like $400 for $800 worth of work and called to find out if I could get a quote before I purchased it. I waited until the last minute to make the call...realizing Archstone may be too busy to get me a quote before the "big deal" expired. What I thought I needed done was to have a chimney, that was only used to hold my furnace pipes, brick's rebuilt and the chimney cap replaced. It had blown out of place and my neighbors had seen birds flying in and out of it a few months before. I had gotten a quote from another company at the beginning of summer for well over $2000 and was told the whole thing needed to be rebuilt and the cost was high because of the scaffolding needed to get up on to and be on my roof. All this was quoted with the guy looking from the ground and never getting up on my roof. He had worked on my neighbor's chimney and said he remembered what my chimney looked like and didn't need to get on my roof to look again. Jerrod was in fact very busy, but was able to get me a rough quote over the phone, given my description, for $1200 (this amount included everything, "big deal" discount and what I thought I needed...full rebuild, scaffolding, chimney cap). Even with this lower quote, I wasn't comfortable purchasing the big deal without him actually looking at my chimney. He told me he would honor the big deal rate because my job sounded so small. Told me he would be out the next week to take a look. The only thing that really was no big deal for me was the time it took for him to come out and look at my chimney. Jerrod had told me he would be out the next week and it took him about two weeks to come out and take a look. He had kept me updated during this time via email. The reason it really was no biggie was I knew he was super busy because of the "big deals". The best part of everything was when he was able to give me an actual quote it was only $120+tax!!!! No need for rebuilding and because my chimney was right next to a flat part of my roof...no need for scaffolding. The only thing he ended up doing was replacing my old decrepit furnace cap with a new stainless steel one. Took him about 20mins to do.
