AMERICAN PATIO COVERS

Our site was tricky as the house has jetted out spots and angles in the area we wanted covered by a patio cover, not the typical flat wall area for installation. Stephen the technician has over 22 years of experience and American Patio Covers makes the aluminum pieces themselves. He was able to fit the cover to our site and it looks great.

I can's say how happy I am that found Tom and his company American Patio Covers at the Seattle Home Show, and that i had them do the work, instead of my usual mode of doing such things myself. I started off needing a railing and, once i discovered some rot, the project quickly grew in scope. Even though I hadn't previously considered it, the aging deck cover was also in need of replacement, so i saved money by combining the projects. The work done was top drawer in quality...they even had to pour a new pad for the stairs as part of the project and the final result is beautiful. They were extremely easy to work with from start to finish. 98177

They arrived on the date they said they would. They even made one final appointment before the install date to make sure we were both on the same page and emailed one final, accurate quote before the install. The Installers were hard working, courteous. Anytime there was a decision to be made about height, overhang etc, they would wait and contact me or my wife before moving forward. The kept the work area clean and cleaned up thoroughly before leaving and even did a couple of no charge repairs to some older deck railing I had installed by someone else that didn't do a very good job. The job was completed in 2 days as promised and they had me do a walk through inspection upon completion and I then paid them in full. (No money was requested at all until the job was completed.) Overall very happy with the new cover as well as the quality of the fit, finish and workmanship.

He was 2 hrs. late and didn't call to let anyone know. His attitude was undesirable; arrogant. Our on site carpenter ( at that time) asked too many questions( some of which were at my request) which irritated Tom. He became testy and defensive. After finding out a different company other than Seahawk Exteriors asked him for an estimate he was miffed. I don't know what the difference was but a different company did our deck project (he came to the site thinking it was the other company). He had not done work for our company before. After talking to our contractor over the phone to set up a meeting with all of us, he assured our contractor that he would make any date work. We set up Monday evening @ 5. He called back and told the contractor it was too late, settle on another date. We chose Wednesday evening @5. Contractor came to the house early to be available in case Tom made it early. LOL. Tom didn't show!!! Our contractor called his secretary and she said he was in Portland, driving back to Wa. Are you kidding me? My husband took off work early for this appointment! No call to let us know he wouldn't be there. He brushed us off without a care or any respect for our time. I wouldn't hire this company to cover an outhouse let alone our deck. One issue was our former carpenter and his questions. Our contractor apologized to Tom about the questioning and informed him another carpenter was on the job. This seemed to satisfy Tom... or so he led us to believe. He also informed our contractor that our job @ 12' X 12' was too small for the anguish. LOL. I guess they don't need the business. The brochure shows an option of laminated wood trim instead of aluminum; it must be false advertising because they don't do the laminated wood trim @ all; that extra service of finding a carpenter and materials is responsibility of the home owner. I hate writing negative reports. I tend to stay quiet and say nothing. All the issues with this company warrants a warning.

Good professional job

We like the deck cover and railing system very much. The deck cover makes the deck waterproof underneath and will block much of the sun/heat on warm days. The installers were skilled, polite, and did a very good job. They also did a thorough job in cleaning up. I would recommend that you repeat your desires for the project during each meeting with the owner and get things in writing before starting the project. The company does really want to satisfy its customers, and the ladies in the office are a joy to work with. The job did not start on the day it was scheduled and was delayed two days, but they assigned extra installers in order to get the job done more quickly which was impressive.

Company was on time, did what was scheduled and it appears to be a great job. I will be using this company again on more projects for my home.

Installation went well.We helped design the framing attachment to the house to suit our requirements. The cover was beautiful. I offer the following advice for any post installation customer service issues: 1. Document every communication, use e-mail. 2. If you do call, send an e-mail confirming the call, date, time, who you spoke to and what each of you said. 3. If they do call you back, follow-up with an e-mail confirming the same items listed above. 4. Do not anticipate a return call; if you do get one, experience says they will only tell you they can't help at the moment and will have to call you back. 5. If you do discuss the details of your issue on the phone, have someone with you on the call to document what you said. 6. Save all communications, you will need the documentation for third party assistance 7. We still have unresolved issues; cover was installed almost 2 years ago. 8. We have documentation of everything stated above, written phone call logs and e-mails. 9. If there ever is a problem, you are in for a long frustrating ride. 10 DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT.

Very good. They were clean, efficient and timely.

They arrived a day early to do the work. They did good work on budget. They exhibited excellent workmanship and I will use them again, although I probably won't need to, as their work comes with a 30 year warranty.
