Issue #1: They put down minimal drop cloths. So furniture, drapes, tile, appliances, carpet and most everythig had remnents of paint stains. 6 months after the job, I am still finding paint droppings...very frustrating!!!!! Issue #2: In the contract they stated they would apply two coats of paints. This was hardly the case. In some situations they didn't even apply one coat of paint. I found obvious and significant areas of drywall where they didn't even paint the area. I specifically called out issues with the ceiling in our bedroom where I was certain they did not paint 2 coats. I pointed out a couple areas and assumed they would review the entire room and ceiling for missing spots.....not the case. They still missed significant areas of the ceiling. Issue #3: I've had other painters in my houses in the and I have a reasonable idea of how long it takes to paint. Alliance was slow and inefficient considering the number of areas they had to paint. Issue #4: Price was reasonable, but now I know why. I would gladly pay more to get a quality job. Overall, I am thoroughly disgusted with Alliance Painting.
Description of Work: Alliance came in to repaint several interior areas of my house after I had various drywall repairs completed. I had ceilings, walls and trim painted.

The owner, Chris Alpers, came to our house for an estimate as promised. Alliance Painting is based in Marysville. We are in Maple Valley & were concerned that might be an issue, but he assured us that it was not a problem for him or "his guys".. So, out of the 3 estimates we received, we chose Alliance Painting to do the work. Next, his wife, Kim Mercier, came to our house with the contracts and for help in choosing colors, especially, the color of the our deck. Because our deck was older & had been stained previously, on Kim's recommendation, we chose to go with 2 coats of a semi-transparent stain on the deck & 2 coats of paint that would match the color of the deck on both porches after they had been pressure washed first.. Signed the contract on August 10, 2012 and wrote a check for half of the cost of the job, as they required. Faxed my paint & color choices to Kim on 8/13/12. The following week, the worker doing the pressure washing, arrived over 2 hours late, & driving a Chrysler 300 with the pressure washer in the trunk. We were expecting to see a van or truck with Alliance Painting's name on the side, but let it go.Took him some time to get set up & start working and had only been working maybe an hour, when his wife shows up with his lunch. Let it go, again. Just wanted him to get it done & then we would take it up with Chris Alpers later. Later on that evening, when everything dried, we noticed the glass doors & sidelights and all of our windows were absolutely filthy. The worker had not bothered to rinse the windows when he was done pressure washing. Again, we decided to wait & take it up with Chris on the walk-through after the painting was done. Later on that week, the painters showed up to begin their work. They, also, arrived in an vehicle with no company name on the side. They began getting the house ready to paint. My husband was present while the painters were working & became friendly with them while they were here and found out they were NOT employees of Alliance Painting, but sub-contractors as was the pressure washer. So much for "family operated!" They, also, told us that Chris did not like them telling customers that they were not employees. At this point, I want to make it clear the the "lousy" rating I gave Alliance Paiinting pertains to Chris Alpers, his wife, Kim Mercier & the pressure washer. The painters were owners of a company named, "Color Fest Painting" and they were amazing! They went above & beyond, sometimes working into the everning, to get the house done & make sure everything was right. The house looks beautiful! When they were almost done with the painting, we received an email from Chris's wife Kim on August 26, 2012 asking us to give the check for the other half of the payment to the "their"crew leader, Ignacio, who, in reality is the owner of "Color Fest Painting", not an employee of Alliance Painting. No mention of a walk-through in the email to our disbelief, only to call if we have any questions or concerns, which we did. My husband put a call into Chris, letting him know that we had issues with the pressure washer's work & that we wanted to address the issue with him. He gave us alot of reasons why he couldn't get down here from Marysville and then said he was going to be in Tacoma on Thursday, Aug 30, 2012 & that he would stop by about 4:00 pm. On the 28th, we gave Ignacio the check for the other half, realizing that was the money to pay his crew. The first half to Chris and the only expenditure from his half was the paint. And, of course, he never showed up on August 30 & never called. The house looked amazing & the windows could be washed , so we decided to let it go & be done with Alliance Painting. Fast forward 5 months to Jan 29, 2013. The stain & paint both Chris & Kim assured us would last 4 to 5 years on my deck & porches, especially with a 2nd coat is now peeling off wherever it is exposed to the weather. Looked in my paperwork & realized that I had not been given a copy of their "5 yr limited application warranty" Kim, then, emailed me the warranty and, big surprise!...the warranty does NOT cover "Repairs to horizontal surfaces or any surface that, by virtue of it's design permits moisture to collect. Surfaces include, but are not limited to, decks, railings, stairs, porches, roofs and wood gutters." Didn't mention that beforehand, did they?! Since then, my husband has left numerous voicemails on Chris's phone, as he now recognizes the number and never answers the calls. None of the calls are returned either. We have also sent numerous emails to his wife, Kim, per her insistence that that is the best way to get a quick response. We do get a quick response, but from her, not Chris, and they are always empty promises that she will have, or remind Chris to call.
Description of Work: Pressure washed & painted entire house as well as deck and 2 porches and all the gutters.

They also call themselves BNC painting. They were not interested in doing a good job, they were not at all interested in the project. They started the project late and wouldn't show up when they said they would. I had an appointment with Ben Alpers (brother of Chris). He said he would be at my home at 8, then 10, then 1 PM and then he never showed up. Their crew is two very young men, when they showed up, they didn't have any clue as to the scope of the project. They were scrambling for supplies. They had no supervision. I have no confidence that they did the job right, no confidence at all. I regret hiring them. They dumped some material tainted with oil based paint in my front yard. Every time I walk by that spot, I smell the paint. I am concerned about the plants in that area. This is very irresponsible of them. I am very upset.
Description of Work: The job involved painting one side of the house where new siding has been installed. Job also included painting the front door, window shutters and few minor things.

Response from ALLIANCE PAINTING CO
Alliance Painting and BNC Painting are not the same company. Complete different ownership and staffing. BNC Painting is owned and operated by Ben Alpers ,not Chris Alpers therefore this review should reflect on BNC Painting, not Alliance Painting.

They are very thorough and they did a beautiful job. We had the sheetrock popping out and all kinds of things. They understood painting and knew what they were working with. The repairs looked great. They cleaned up. We have a grand piano and all kinds of stuff and everything. They just took care of everything. They tarped the place well and when they left, the place was cleaner than it was when they came in.
Description of Work: We used the services of Alliance Painting Co in mid November for interior painting. They repaired our walls and did a lot of other repairs. They painted the kitchen, living room, dining room, a huge stairwell, an entry hall, bathroom and a large hallway.

I regret the day I hired Alliance Painting to paint the interior of my home. During their visit to estimate the job, I made it clear they had to start on time as I was coordinating the drywall installation with their activities. They started the job two days late. Alliance is a husband and wife team who use contract painters to work jobs. As I waited for them to arrive the morning of the job, I had to call to inquire as to where they were. The owner s wife gave increasingly more long drawn out excuses. After 20 minutes of rambling, she started to argue with me about my demeanor and threatened me. I was so upset by this confrontation that I called the website which recommended Alliance and asked them to mediate. At that point, my plan was to have them tally up the current charges and part ways. The owner finally convinced me to stay with them. I would later regret this decision. The contractor used by Alliance for painting seemed courteous and apologetic for the delayed start and phone conversation. When I came home from work, there was a note from the painter asking to do the walk through and provide a check for the balance of payment the next day. That following day, I told him that I would need to have a day to thoroughly walk through to make sure the job was done properly. He then pressured me to give him a check even though he wasn t close to completing. The painter expected me to do a walk-through before he had even finished the project. Several weeks later, I am finding issues in his workmanship. To add insult to injury, after a very rushed walk-through, and pressure to write a check for the balance of charges, to my dismay, Alliance sent me an additional bill with unauthorized charges that were never previously discussed. When I called, the owner to ask about this, he said he would cancel the bill and send me a zero balance. When I did not receive the zero balance after a week and a half, I had to again call him. He has yet to fulfill his promise. I cannot recommend Alliance Painting.
Description of Work: Painted the entire interior of our house, walls, trim, and ceilings.
