The technician was able to come to my house quite soon after I made the appointment, and was friendly, competent and professional. I feel I received good value for the price I paid.
Description of Work: My gas fireplace had stopped working and my gas company couldn't come out for over 24 hours. Washington Energy Service came and checked the pilot, cleaned and inspected everything thoroughly and ended up replacing my thermostat.

The sales rep who did the estimate was professional & did a careful assessment of our needs. The install was done by 3 renaissance men who knew about old houses. They worked beautifully around the house's quirks & used their metal work, carpentry, computer & engineering skills to great effect. These are very smart people! Good clean-up, too. The gas inspector gave the job a quick thumbs up, mentioning WES's work is invariably solid. The new heater has been running like a dream for 3 months. We could not be more pleased.
Description of Work: WES removed our old gas heater & replaced it with their most efficient Bryant model.

The person who came out was on time and professional, but it seemed like his job was a salesperson, not someone that would be installing windows or had technical knowledge. He was not able to answer all of our questions. Also, the bid we received was quite a bit higher than any others. He did follow up with us by phone and email, and was very polite when we told him we chose another contractor. They do have a showroom to look at window samples, which is nice if you are considering different types of windows.

They did a great job. They were the most responsive of all the bids I got. They ended up having to do a few things a little different, but they were very clean and easy to work with. I would use them again if I needed to.

Everything went very smoothly through the quoting process and installation. There were no major surprises and we were even able to get some additional ductwork routed to our top floor. They were responsive to changing the original quote to include this new work. The work was completed on schedule and for the agreed-upon price. The one complaint I have is with their permitting group. They have consistently dropped the ball on scheduling the proper inspections for the work. The work was performed over a year ago and the inspections still have not been completed. I could have been more proactive on scheduling the inspections myself, but this is a service they are supposed to provide.

They sent out a team of two who were trained only in duct cleaning (and who reeked of cigarette smoke even though it was a morning appointment). I called the company and asked if they could send over another worker to do the furnace work before the cleaners started. They could not accommodate on that day so I rescheduled with another company.
Description of Work: I scheduled the company to an inspection and maintenance of furnace, A/C and air cleaner followed by duct cleaning. The duct cleaning was relatively unimportant, but since they hadn't been cleaned in several years, and we just bought the house, I thought I'd add in that service.

I called to schedule and was given an appointment at a very convenient time for me(Saturday at noon). Salesperson was prompt but his presentation was long and painful. He would measure the windows and then go to his computer to enter the measurements, but several times he forgot the measurements by the time he got to his computer. He forgot a couple of windows which I had to point out to him. After he was all done with measuring and telling me the bid amount(which had taken over an hour), he gave a power point presentation which really wasn't necessary for us but he said he does it for himself-to be sure he doesn't forget anything. Seems like there should be a better way. He had a typo in his presentation which I pointed out and he said that I wasn't the first to notice it. He didn't have a printer with him(as the other bidders did)so he had to email me the bid. He sent it the next day but apparently he didn't like what he had sent me so he sent a second one too. So I wasn't too impressed with his attention to detail. Also, they were the highest priced of the 4 estimates I got-way above the others(not even close to the second bid).

The company representative was new to siding and really didn't know much about it or about working with a house style to come up with a plan that will make the house look good. He gave us a very long list of houses to go look at that Washington Energy Services had installed siding for. So, we set out one weekend to go have a look at about 12 houses on the list in Seattle. Of the 12 we tried to see, we only found about 4 houses. The others were non-existent addresses or we figured they must have been the wrong address because the houses looked like they *needed* new siding, not had new siding recently installed. We were *not* happy at the extreme extent of the errors on this list and felt like we wasted a lot of time and effort on a useless hunt. For most of the houses we did see, we were not very impressed with the siding (i.e., the siding was bowing out from the house on one, and the siding was clearly new because the house was still being remodeled). Then, when the rep came back with an estimate for residing our house, it was well over two times the cost compared to an estimate we got from a company we found on Angie's list ($50K from WES vs $22K from another company). When I pointed this out to the rep, the only thing he said back was that his company had been around for a long time and so would be there if anything went wrong in the future. That's not worth an additional $28K to me.
Description of Work: We worked with a company rep to decide on a style/manufacturer of house siding and he gave us an estimate for installation.

I can't say enough good things about this company. Used them back in the mid '90's to convert my water heater to gas and have been using them ever since. So has my father, father-in-law and brother-in-law. The thing I bought last summer was a Bryant Hybrid heat pump. Now that it's been a full year I can verify that this thing saves you money on your power bill. You most likely can find this elsewhere but you will not find guys that do install on time and for the price they say like these guys do. I bought the pump from the same guy who sold me my water heater. He tells me that many of the employees have been there lots longer than him. I have also bought a fireplace insert from him...his name is Norm Harris. Happy to take the time to let people know about this company as EVERY time I have dealt with them its been a good experience.
Description of Work: I have done lots of business with these guys over the years but my most recent purchase was a Hybrid Heating and Cooling pump and furnace.

Service was prompt and efficient. The stove was installed in no time and our installer was professional. It has been several years now, and we have had absolutely no trouble with either the stove itself, or the installation (i.e. gas hook-up or hole in ceiling, etc.)
Description of Work: We had WES install a free-standing propane stove several years ago. This required hooking up to the propane tank that had to be installed by a local gas company, plus cutting a hole in the roof for the chimney.

They had to do the job in stages. First we got the furnace and heat pump system. That actually went very well. The salesman underestimated the amount of time it would take. So while it was inconvenient, I was impressed with the dedication for getting the job done. Then we had the hot water heater installed and that went fine although the sales person did not fully represent the drawbacks. Our house is so long that it takes two minutes to reach the upstairs shower. I have since learned that two hot water heaters, one for each end of the house, would work better. Then we had the back up generator and that process was very stressful. There was poor communication to the point that several parties had to be involved and everybody knew that they would not be there on a certain day except me, so I waited all day. They underestimated the time the job would take but the worse part of the generator process was that the head electrical was the nastiest, most impolite person I have ever dealt with. I had called the company about him and they were very dismissive. He was very rude to me as a woman and kept asking were my husband was. He was bullying me and also was having problems the sales person. I have been told that he is no longer with the company. They left me without gas service on a Friday night until midnight in November but luckily someone from the gas company took pity on me and kindly sent someone out at midnight to hook me up. Any follow up communication to the company has been fine and someone did call to apologize about the electrician about two weeks later. Everything that they installed seems to work just fine. I am continuing to use them for the inspections but I would probably not use them again for any major work.
Description of Work: They installed a new furnace with some upgrades to the duct system, they installed a heat pump with the furnace, a back up generator, and an instant hot water system.

The salesman, Neil Leatherman, was prompt and very professional as we discussed, measured and ordered my new doors. I have had windows and doors replaced by WES before, and chose them again because of their professionalism and lifetime warranty. I did not shop around because, even though they are not the least expensive company, their work and knowledge of their products is excellent and they stand behind their products and labor. The installation crew, six weeks later, came on time and worked hard and efficiently to install the new doors in my 50 year old house. They did an excellent job and I am still very happy with my doors ten months later. It's true that a front door can make a huge difference in a house. Everyone who visits comments on it and I always tell them that WES did the work.

Gary Hayden was probably the most pleasant and knowledgeable sales representative that I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. No high pressure tactics, whatsoever. He carefully explained the entire work procedure to be done from start to finish. Once the work was to start, the company placed a large dumpster on the side of my home, and went to work on schedule. Al and Kelly, the installers, were two of the nicest and hard working crew I ever saw! They went to work with a vengeance, and started tearing off my old siding. When they finished work each day, they carefully inspected the entire perimeter of my home for any debris they may have accidentally dropped. Gary Hayden stopped by almost every day to see how the work was going, and asking if I had any complaints, which, I am pleased to report, I never did. If he could not stop by, he called me. Gary also took photographs of the house each time he came by. I was so impressed by the work going on, that I soon made the decision to ask Gary to give me a quote for new insulated windows and doors for my entire house, in addition to the siding, before the job progressed too far. He measured each and every door and window himself, and gave me the quote. I liked what I saw, and signed a new contract, but for the purpose of this report I will just stay with the siding work. Before the work began, I was almost ashamed to drive up to my own house because of its shabby appearance. Not any more! I truly believe that I now have the most beautiful home in my neighborhood, and I could not be any happier. What a transformation! Thank you, Gary. Thank you, Washington Energy Services. And thanks also to Al and Kelly. What a crew! I would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: My home had the typical cedar beveled siding on it, and the house was built in 1966. Because I had not kept up on the maintenance of it, it was in very poor condition. The paint was peeling, and parts of the siding were warped. It got to the point where I was totally unhappy with it's appearance, so I decided to do something about it. After a lot of research, I ruled out several companies immediately. Enter Washington Energy Services. After researching their services on the internet, and satisfied with what I learned, I asked for an appointment to discuss the work to be done. Sales representative Gary Hayden came to my home, and we discussed several options for the siding. I thought maybe I might want to go with Hardy Board, but soon ruled that out and selected insulated aluminum siding. Reasoning? No maintenance, and more energy efficient! I am extremely pleased that I chose this application!
