WA Energy came out two days later with the new water heater and installed it. The technician was efficient, thorough, and professional. After the installation, the technician went over the operation and provided tips for ongoing maintenance. We are considering buying a new furnace by the end of the year and if we do, it will be through WA Energy. I highly recommend calling WA Energy if you're considering replacing your heating or air conditioning units.
Description of Work: It was time to replace our 21 year old, gas water heater so I called a couple of places and decided to go with WA Energy Services. We purchased the 50 gal., Rheem, gas model for $1,212.47 ($1097.00 + $115.47 sales tax), installed.

The sales person came out and explained the system to us. He did not seem overly educated though as some of the features he described did not turn out to be correct. The installers came out to put them in and my husband had to watch them like a hawk. They attempted to leave one of the units not even flush with the wall. Then the work failed the electrical inspection and had to be completely ripped out and re-installed. They did a poor job of cable management over all on the exterior of the house too. They claim we can cover this with gutters but I am suspect that they will fit. Once we got them in, they did not seem to work right. If the AC was on, no matter the thermostat setting, it would just keep cooling the room right past it. When thier self proclaimed "expert" (according to the scheduler) on the system came out to walk me through how to use them, he had NO IDEA how to use the system and even asked me for the owners manual! As one can imagine, he left and I had no better idea on how to use them. We have eventually got them to a working state, and the system itself is great. Washington Energy Services though has little knowledge or experience on them. Update: 12/8/2011: One of the units has developed a very annoying and random squeak. We will be calling to attempt to have it fixed but I don't really want thier installers in the house after all the issues with the initial installation.
Description of Work: They were contracted to install 2 standalone AC/ Heat Pumps with a central compressor outside, in our attic.

The salesperson was about an hour late. I had scheduled a few additional estimates in consecutive hours, so this was quite inconvenient. He only had time to drop off the bid and leave. I would have liked more time to talk with him, but I was with another company. Even in Seattle traffic, being an hour late is unacceptable without notification.

Fixed same day ( which is what my wife wanted!) -Overall = A- or B=+
Description of Work: Discovered Water heater was broken @ 9am. Had a person at my door giving me an estimate by 3pm. Had the Water heater installed by 5pm same day. If I knew the water heater was going to go ahead of time I would have bought my own water heater and had a plumber install it (for 1/2 the price). In the end I was caught between a rock and a hard place and they came threw...but...YOU PAY FOR IT!

First visit in 2008 WES could not see any problem. Each winter morning I have go out to garage and disconnect/reconnect hose from pressure switch to light furnace. Second visit in the fall 2009 to replace pressure switch that I have been telling them about. Six months later still same problem. WES only warranties labor for thirty days. Will have to pay more labor to fix a three year old problem on a ten year old furnace. Goodbye WES. Hello Angie's List.

Jonathan Dwight is excellent. After getting three bids from different companies I finally settled on WES. I had an extremely good impression of Jonathan and he struck me as extremely considerate, professional and competent. Originally, even with the 20% off coupon WES's bid was the highest of the three. However, Jonathan was very good at beating the other bids and ended up being the cheapest. The quality of the install was excellent and took only one day. The York Affinity system is the best on the market and is so quiet you can hardly hear the air handler at all when it's on and I can't even hear the outdoor heat pump unit at all when inside the home! My original heat pump and air handler would also make loud noises on initial start up and running. If I had to do it again I would still choose Washington Energy Services and especially Jonathan Dwight.
Description of Work: Replaced old heat pump with a new York Affinity 8T model with matching air handler and Guardian air system. Removed old heat pump system components and installed new lineset, upgraded circuit breaker, etc.

I was very pleased with my initial consult. I thought the salesman was professional and was considering the bid seriously when I decided to call another company for a second bid. My second bid was radically different in that a heat pump was recommended as an alternative to an air conditioner. (This bid was also several thousand dollars cheaper than the previous bid) I had never heard of a heat pump before and after the recommendation did a ton of research on it. I called WES to ask them why they had not recommended a heat pump and was told that it wouldn't be effective in my house. I was also told that the bid I had received would be lower due to a "meeting they had just had." I asked the salesman if he would resend the bid and he said he would. He did not. I talked to a private energy consultant and was told a heat pump WOULD be effective and in fact was the 'gold standard' for energy conservation in terms of heating and cooling. Ultimately, this was a personal choice and I was given two different options from two different companies so I cannot complain about that, however, WES did not follow through with the second bid and in fact have not contacted me since I called to ask about the heat pump? They just vanished.

The team was professional and timely. And while the the new units were expensive, they functioned well and we appreciated changing from the conventional mode for heating water. About the same time that the new system was installed, household electric usage spiked and after two years of trying to diagnose the cause, contacted WES to help us. After a protracted amount of time, placing several calls to the service manager and quite a bit of phone tag, he came over to assess the situation. To his credit, he spent a fair amount of time trying to diagnose if their installation were the culprit with no obvious conclusion. After turning off some components for a month at a time, observing electricity consumption, it was suggested that the circulating pump and timer should be replaced. We agreed on a date and time for the installation. I blocked the two hours off of my work calendar and waited for Monty and his technician to show up. After 45 minutes of waiting, I called him and he said he was working on an emergency, couldn't make it to the appointment that he would send Erik over. Called me back and told me Erik would arrive in 20 minutes. I had only anticipated being late for work by two hours, not four. I told Monty, no thanks, I would come up with an alternative. He said he was sorry; no suggestions for how to handle the situation, no follow up phone calls. Nothing. He just left an otherwise previously satisfied customer slip away. I called Ballard Natural Gas; they came over right away, spent significant time with me; didn't have a ready answer to the electricity consumption, but told me the water pump did not need replacing. Saved me $300. I'm disappointed. I liked both of these companies. Going forward, I'll give my business to Ballard Natural Gas.
Description of Work: Initially, 2007, installed on-demand gas water heater and small electric water heater to work with water circulator. Removed old conventional tank.

We researched several companies on Angies List, chose 4 different ones due thier ratings & experience had by other Angies List reviewers. Had them come out for bids, these guys knew I was getting bids from others, so they were competive price wise. My Sales Rep was easy to talk to, and understood what we wanted. After choosing WA Energy Services for our "furnace install", we also got a FREE duct cleaning to go along with the new furnace. Which none of the other companies offered, (kinda cool perk?) esp. for what you pay for a furnace. Upon appt. set up they squeezed us in during a busy short week, for "our" convenience, which was totally appreciated & (Yes, another great service). All & All it went great, smooth and effecient. I felt that I was taken care of from start to finish of the job! Which many contractor type services, the homeowners cant always say.
Description of Work: Was told by Amber appt. manager that they already submitted request for rebate with PSE, which was nice to not to have to go thru those hoops to get the $350 rebate for an 95% effecient furnace. Totally appreciate any extra help in areas that I don't typically venture. She said it was easier for them to do it, because they dont have to go thru as many hoops a the "homeowner" since they are the contracter. (Yes, a great perk, great service what ever you want to call it.) Discussed with Amber the need to hurry on the install because of 2 things our schedule & the rebate change w/ PSE changing Jan 1, 2010. She tried really hard to see if they could pull it off in an already "very busy" short holiday week. She was able to... so I was delighted, (Yes a great perk for me "homeowner") Amber worked her magic! She told me the guys would be there from 9-10 am. They showed up @ 9:25 am. 2 guys, They worked all day from 9:25 until 4pm ish. Around that time they called in the "duct cleaner" guy who went all over the house w/ paper booties cleaning the ducts/vents for about an hour. Furnace installer lead guy went over the thermostat buttons and programmed it with our needs of how we like the house temp and when we come/go, etc. He also left his business card he hand wrote his cell number on it, if we should have any thermostat setting help after he left (Yes, another great service noted). He explained how often to replace the filter & how often to get it "serviced" and we finalized the paperwork and he was on his way. The garage was left just as it was found.

The honorable Chris came out to my home for the scheduled air duct cleaning. He is so honest that he told me the trunk feed to hook up his vacuum hose was 12 in and that a 10 in was installed in my house. He could have gone under the house and rigged it but he told the truth. He was 10 minutes early. Polite man that took the time to explain so many thing about this topic. I can see why this company gets rave reviews. I will when having the heating system replaced. In today's atmosphere of greed and desperation this was a great experience.
Description of Work: He crawled under the to check the air duct system and where he would have to hook up. Since my heating system is mounted on top of the a/c unit in the garage, he could not use the area available in most homes.
