Overall I was very dissatisfied with Washington Energy Services and am actually still dissatisfied. It was a while ago so I dont remember exactly how it went from start to finish but I can give you an overview. The men came to install the furnace. I went out to the garage to see if they wanted coffee or anything and noticed they were drilling a hole in the side of my house. I asked why and he told me that is where we are going to vent the new furnace. I asked why not the roof? He said they didn't have what they needed to go up through the roof. I asked him to please fill the hole and go get what he needed. He left for about 2 hours and came back and correctly vented the furnace up through the roof. He did not however patch the hole (which is pretty large and still unpatched). The thermostat has never worked properly (I think it has a short or something) so it constantly turns off. The BIGGEST problem however was that when the furnace was done and I went to turn the a/c back on. the a/c was blowing warm air and not cold. While installing the furnace they somehow managed to drain the refrigerant (the units are right next to each other)_. I called them and they insisted that this was not their fault (baffling to me) and would not assist in fixing the problem. It cost me an additional $700.00 to have the a/c serviced by someone else.
Description of Work: We had a new furnace installed because our old one had cracked plates and was leaving soot on our ceilings.

I called WES around noon the day of the appointment to see if they could give me a somewhat more exact time. (The sun was almost shining for the first time in weeks and I wanted to go out if I could.) It turned out that my appointment had been lost. The nice woman on the phone managed to slot me in somehow for between 3:00 and 6:00. Some time around 3:00 I got a call from the technician saying he was about an hour away. He showed about an hour later. He spent ten to fifteen minutes running tests on the furnace and then explained that the inducer motor had gone/was going bad and had to be replaced. He went out to his truck to call to see about getting the part. After about ten minutes he came back in with his bill written up. He said that they'd order the part and come back out to install it. The service call was $99 plus tax. The part will be covered by the warranty but we'll be paying another service call (or more) to have the part put in. The technician was fine; he seemed to know his business. The woman I talked with today was good; she got someone out to see us today. But: 1) I had to wait something like ten days to get the initial appointment 2) The original appointment was lost entirely; had I not called to check, I'd have wasted an afternoon waiting around 3) It seems like the part should be something they'd have on hand, since it didn't seem an unexpected diagnosis 4) I resent having to pay for two service calls--and take time from work for two service calls--when the first call was strictly a diagnosis for the second one. (If they had the part, they could just fix the furnace on the first visit.) Possibly I'm being particularly harsh because it was an expensive furnace that seems to require more repair than its 50-year-old predecessor. ***UPDATE*** I see that WES completely understood my frustration and "hoped for a chance to earn my trust back" on December 31 which is downright amusing. They called on the morning of the 31st to say they had the motor in stock and that someone would be out between 2:00 and 5:00 that afternoon to install it. I confirmed that they would call before arriving since I had some errands to do. "Yes, of course," I was told. I was back home about 2:00 and then out briefly again afterwards; I took my phone with me and checked it frequently. At 4:35, having heard and seen no one from WES, I called the office to reach their voice mail. I left a message, noting the time and asking what had happened to my appointment. I didn't hear back. I called again on Wednesday, around 11:00 am, and asked about the no-show on Monday. The man was very apologetic but couldn't explain the missed appointment. We agreed that someone would be out on Thursday morning and that he'd make a note of my desire for the first appointment (aka 8:00 am) since I'd again be missing work. I called at 9:15. "He should be there now," Sam said. "Isn't he?" He wasn't. "Well, he'll be there any minute but he'll call first," Sam assured me. Jesse called at 9:59 to say he'd be arriving in 45 minutes. I have *no* complaints about Jesse; he was here by 10:45, replaced the part, and was out again by 11:15, having collected another $114.89 from me for the visit. The furnace is once more running pretty quietly and warming the place up. So, the work actually done by the technicians gets high marks. The WES experience has been frustrating and aggravating. I called them initially because they had installed the furnace but I'll be using a different company for future maintenance and repair.
Description of Work: We bought a York furnace in 2010 from WES. It stopped working entirely in June 2011 but was quickly repaired (with a replaced part). It started making a loud whining noise in early December 2012. I called in mid-December and agreed to the first non-emergency time they had available: "some time between 1:00 and 5:00 on Friday the 28th."

.Our furnace was about 30 yrs old and decided it was time to go to furnace heaven, just before Christmas. We have used Washington Energy Services before, for replacement windows, sliding glass doors and security doors. They were the first of 2 vendors we called. Steve arrived on time, and was very knowledgable and helpful. Furnace was installed within 48 hrs of our first contact. The ducts were thoroughly cleaned the next day. What we enjoy about the company most is that they are professional and handle all of the related details of permits, electrical inspections and clean-up.

When we were looking to replace our old oil furnace with a heat pump, we checked Angie's List. Our finalists were two Super Service winners, and Washington Energy Services, which was offering a strong discount. We don?t buy on price alone; in fact, we had had a good experience with one of the others, but still decided to follow the rule of getting at least three bids. We went with Washington Energy Services. The salesman for the company which we?d used before was late, having gone to the wrong address. Happens to us all?problem is, after that, we had to keep calling and writing him and his manager to get responses. Finally, after receiving a hastily put together bid, we dropped them?we?re spending over $10k, and we have to wait a week between responses? The other Super Service winner was good, very professional, but when their electrical contractor made his bid, it was over what we had been told. He was adding capacity for an extra heating strip, which we didn?t need, and a whole house surge protector, another extra. The salesman eliminated the extras, but it left a bad taste. Enter Washington Energy Services and J.J.Stefani. Right away, there was an amazing difference. I?d often get a call back within hours, or even on a weekend. He was very thorough in his presentation, explaining why a certain product was best for us, not just trying to sell the most expensive one. We signed up with them. Which is not to say that everything went perfectly. Some ducts had to be recleaned, and there was an issue with the noise of the system. At first, they readjusted the system--the next day--but it was still loud. They decided the old ducts were too small, and JJ took responsibility for underestimating the load. We worked out a deal where we got a new ducting and an enlarged air return at cost. It?s important to note that the salesman from the first company had said we needed larger ducts, but we never heard anything more about it again their communications, or in the bid. The second company, like Washington Energy Services, had thought a new air return would be enough. So we would have had the same problem with the Super Service award winners, and would have had to pay for ducting anyway; the difference here is how J.J. was communicating with us and making sure we were satisfied. It?s been almost a year now, and we?re very happy with the system. The oil heat was running about $225/mo in the winter, averaging $135/mo over the year. Our two-month electric bill for January to March, which coincided with the installation?and remember, 2012 had a record cold March?was $175. That was our entire electric bill, not just the heating. So pay attention to ducting if you?re updating from an old oil system?heat pumps blow more air at a higher pressure. Also, in Seattle, check out Community Power Works?they?re having a great energy incentives, including for switching from oil to heat pump. Unfortunately we just missed that one, but it would have easily paid for the ducting. Normally, I would reserve the 5 star rating for everything going right the first time, or nearly so, with no need for multiple adjustments. Putting a new system into an old house can be complex, and as far as I can tell, the two Super Service winners would have had the same problems, so I'm giving Washington Energy Services the top rating. I will say this?J. J. Stefani?s service is definitely 5 star?relentlessly accountable and responsive.

The installers, Rick Michaelson and Jacob Gillespie arrived on the scheduled date and time and explained the process to us and what we could expect as far as the time needed for replacing both units and any power outages that may be needed. They were great! They were very efficient and professional during the entire process and even put up with my kibitzing! Once the installation was complete, Will Flink arrived to make sure all duct work was properly and correctly installed and he too went out of his way to explain the process to us. From the beginning, all the individuals involved were very professional and courteous. We highly recommend WES to anyone considering replacing a furnace and/or a water heater and we were very impressed by this crew! As a final note, the difference in heating was noticeable from the moment the furnace was turned on. This was a very positive experience and one that was very worthwhile!
Description of Work: Our furnace and water heater were near museum pieces and needed to be replaced. We contacted Washington Energy Services to assess the efficiency of the units and were fortunate to meet John Kuntz who came out to perform the assessment. He arrived at the scheduled time and made a thorough inspection of these devices and recommended replacing both of them. He was very knowledgable and professional and, best of all, did not push us into a quick decision. He explained all of the options available and stressed that we should talk it over before deciding to replace one, both or neither. It didn't take us long to decide given the efficiency rating of each unit and the potential savings in our utilities bill. Our experience with John couldn't have been nicer! He is very knowledgable about the units and made sure that we discussed the options before making our decision since the cost was substantial. We decided to replace both and it was a decision that we certainly don't regret. John explained that WES will take care of obtaining all the permits required, they took care of the disposal of both units, if any problems showed up during the installation, they would take care of correction them and if for any reason we were unhappy with either of the units, they would remove them at no cost to us.

Had purchased windows & doors about a year ago. The cat destroyed the bottom 3" of weatherstripping. Also, the door was not latching as easily as when it was new. The door manager came out to look at the work. He had the knowledge and enough materials to take care of it on the spot and said there would be no charge -- though he spent quite a bit of time on the job. We have been very happy with the windows, doors, installation and, now, repair from Washington Energy Services. Great company all-around.

I called around 10am to see if we could get someone out to look at the water heater. I received a call around 10:30am from a Washington Energy Services service tech who told us we should call PSE instead. I called PSE and they said they couldn't have someone look at the water heater until the next Monday or Tuesday and since we prefer to take warm showers each day, this was not going to work for us. I called Washington Energy Services back at 11am and scheduled for someone to come out to our house. At 1pm, I had not received a call as promised, and called them back. The original notes I had requested be documented on the account that we needed someone to come out today and that it needed to happen before 5pm as we had somewhere to go at 5:30pm were not documented on the account. The person said they added the information to our account and someone would definitely be at our house prior to 5pm as he reviewed the schedule and someone was available. At 2:15pm my husband received a call from a service tech saying they would come out after 5:30pm tonight. My husband explained that would not work for us and that we had requested someone come out prior to 5pm. The service tech said they couldn't do that and the only other option would be tomorrow. As we are both professionals that meet with clients on a daily basis, going into work dirty is not an option for us, thus the need to take warm showers on a daily basis is a necessity. I called the company once again and they confirmed that they would not be coming to our home today. I think it's unacceptable to place an order, be told twice that capacity was available to fulfil a need and then 3 hours later be told it's not available. It is now too late for anyone else to come out to our home and we will be stuck taking cold showers tomorrow as we have called several other businesses and because it was after 2pm, no one can help us. If Washington Energy Services had told us at 11am they could not fulfil our request or even at 1pm when I called them, we may have been able to find another company to help us.

They were fine. I could not remember having any problems. They put it in well. It works so much better than the old one that was almost twenty years old and did not work well. Easy company to work with. Quote was in line with (or better than) 4 others we received. Installed everything in one day and did a good job. Had some issues with the unit after installation, but they always sent someone out promptly when requested and we eventually got everything resolved. Saved a ton on our energy bills... We have since moved and purchased another hybrid system (heat pump + gas furnace) from Washington Energy. When we move again, we will likely give them our business for a third time.

We had Washington Energy Services replace our Contractor Grade Furnace with a more effecient and appropriate sized model. We also had them upgrade the thermostat and include the UV bulb filtration system and pre-install the A/C coils (as the furnance would have to be removed in the future if we decided to add A/C).They were very clear on the cost of doing it now vs the cost of doing later. We also had them install a tankless hot water system as the furnace and hot water were in the same cold room. We can now insulated and seal the cold room. They were great in installing the exhausts as we needed 2 now, and only had 1 prior. The installation was clean and tight they did not waste the space while re-routing . They were clean and courtious, drop cloths were used in the traffic areas. They cleaned up at night before leaving, it was a 2 day job, the 3rd was used to perform the duct cleaning and pressure testing. Our system developed a water hammer the following day and they came back the same day it was reported and installed an expansion tank that solved the proplem at no cost. I am still working with the 3rd party contractor for Washington Energy Services for the permits and inspections. Only 1 of 3 have arrived and inspections are approx 1 month out.

We got a quote with them through the home show. It was a bit of an effort but they worked with us really well. They were really nice people and very professional. We have used them for other things. We have always appreciated their professionalism and the honest answers that we got from them. We have been really happy with them. We didn't want to pay any more than we had to with the generator because they are expensive anyway to have them installed. At the home show there were a couple of other companies that also sold generator and were very willing to come out but they didn't give us at the time the impression that they had the knowledge and the information that Washington Energy Services had about generators, installing and everything else. So we went with Washington Energy Services and have been very happy. Everything that they said about the generator I think is quite true. I have had a very good experience with them. He made sure that our schedules met whatever that had to have them meet and that we were happy with everything. I was so happy to find them because another company I talked to, it felt like they just didn't need us as customers. Washington Energy Services was happy to have us as customers and explained everything well. They were polite when other potential customers came to their booth at the home show. They followed up with phone calls to make sure everything was installed OK. We haven't had it all that long but it kicks on every Wednesday right when they said it would. They knew more about the installation. The guy at the booth was the installer. It was the best decision to go with them. I wanted a generator because I went 4 days without electricity once.
Description of Work: Washington Energy Services came out and installed their generator. First they came out to inspect things and get things ready to do the installation. Electricians were needed to come out to do a part of it. They come out to see what your needs are for if your electricity goes out. They set it up so that every Wednesday the generator kicks on and runs for about 20 minutes, just to make sure that it is still running OK. They put us on a system too where the other companies that I looked into would not. It is a system where they will come out once a year just to inspect the generator and make sure that everything is going good. The other company said that they would do that but it would cost us a lot extra. We are probably paying a little bit extra through Washington Energy Services, but it is just that they made it so easy. They said that they do the system all the time and just flowed into the whole transaction.

Rough at beginning, but WA Energy made it happen by working through the problems.
Description of Work: MOST RECENT: Extremely thorough annual service call on maintenance agreement purchased w/2008 4-ton heat pump + air handler. In May 2012 service call, tech Robert Jamieson:> took away a pound of regrigerant - excess was overworking compressor> cleaned electronic filters, recommending monthly cleaning for effectiveness> reduced the aux heat threshold from 35deg to 30deg> tweaked settings in programmable T6 thermostat to reduce power usage Thorough work by excellent, informative technician Installation of Bryant 288A heat pump, April 14 - 17, 2008Bryant T6_PRH A07045 Thermostat works perfectly a relief becuase the tried/true Evolution model could not be configured. DIfficulties arose because WA Energy had not used the T6 before our project. Result: WA Eenrgy went outside the company for expert services, and a hired gun finally found a wayto make the T6 talk to the Bryant 288A, on the fourth day of the installation process. All in all, two full days, two 1/2-days.to install. WA Energy brought the resources into play, made it work, and produced substantial monthly electrical bill savings....we love our system, expecially the programmable thermostat.

We had work done by this company several times over the years and were always happy with the work and the product. The bid was done by Rob, he is very good at what he does and knows the products and suggests what would be the best fit. Got the date for the work and they started on time and the two days that was estamated by Rob. Job was done professionally and am very happy with it.
Description of Work: We had front room, bathroom, kitchen, utility, and two basement windows replaced, we had two doors replaced also. It took the crew two days to do the work, all work was done professionaly and work was cleaned up after the windows were all wood, and the doors double bolted. We are very happy with the work done and the products that were used.

They are a little more expensive but they are a company that will be there when you need them. I had them to install windows and come back the next year and put doors in for me. They fixed the framing and insulation around the door and they did not have to do that. I was beyond thrilled with there service. They installed a large double french door which was well worth the money, it walks out from my bedroom to the garden. The supervisor showed up both times they came to do work and to make sure everything was going well.
Description of Work: I used Washington Energy Services for energy efficiency audit services.

They did an outstanding job. They were on time. The price was right. The serviceman knew what he was doing and let us know that it would take a little extra time. They didn't charge me for an estimate. It was a clean job. They are excellent people to work with.
Description of Work: They installed a new fifty-gallon water heater.
