The owner, Adrian Goman and the arborist, Matthew, showed up promptly to walk the grounds. They asked very detailed questions about the property, boundaries and specifically what exactly needed to be cut, trimmed and pruned. The arborist carefully inspected the trees and made an assessment of which ones had dead cores. He explaned how the trees would be felled. The two calculated the cost then offered a discount for the entire job rather than doing it over a long period of time. We were very impressed when they explained the permit requirements. We wanted to be in compliance with city requirements so that was critical information that was the deciding factor to chose this company. They secured the permits and began the job the following week. Due to the extensive work of cutting and felling four trees, cutting back masssive amounts of laurel, blackberry bushes, and overgrowth, the project took three full days. The crew worked non-stop in warm weather, raked and cleared the limbs and debris. The cost was very reasonable for the amount of worked performed. Mostly, they took every safety precaution. Adrian and Matthew and the entire crew have an exemplary work ethic and pride in their craft.
Description of Work: The owner, Adrian Goman, and the arborist Matthew, dropped a 6+ foot diameter tree that was less than 12 feet away from a very valuable Japanese split leaf maple. They had several situations that needed precise work. They dropped whole trees using a systematic approach by felling by section, top to bottom, cutting limbs, branches and trunks without a hitch. I have the third largest tulip tree in the state that needed some thinning. They were very sensitive to my concern for the tree. No spikes were used that might damage my tree. Urban Axmen do leave the cut rounds as is stated in their contract. However, all the branches and brush were hauled and chipped on the spot. They did everything they said they would and then some. They may appear young, but they work very hard, fast and with considerable skill and agility. We have other property that will be needing some tree work soon. They will be the first company I will call. Not only would I recommend them to anyone, I have already given their name to a friend.
