Town and Country was very busy as this was right after the major windstorm we had late in the summer. It took them a month to get to me, but they showed up when they were supposed to, cleaned up any mess they made, and did a really good job of using the old materials and also installing a brand new chain link gate. I was considering doing this myself, but in retrospect they did a really good job and they did it for $1000 less than the next lowest bid. The had to come two days. One to set the posts and one to do the install. Both days they were on time and finished quickly. I'd use them again. Very professional and business like. No hanky panky on timeliness or the job.
Description of Work: The provider replaced some blown down fence and also installed a dual chain link gate.

Communication is the problem. My neighbor like the quality as seen around the neighborhood. The initial contact was in July, and the work is scheduled for late August. This works well for us to get the fence done a month before we put the house on the market in September. Unfortunately, now it's October, still cannot come to an agreement. We repeatedly asking many time, but never get any response. Three months since we start, we have replace the siding, ext & int paint, replace hardwood floor and granite counter top, and many others. The FENCE has not got anywhere. The house is just sold, and then out of sudden they told us that THEY WILL NOT DO IT. This won't be an issue if they tell me two months ago. Now I am scrambled to find another contactor who can get it done in short notice.

Fence is so beautiful , my neighbor paid for 50% without being asked. When some water appeared among our green plants, not only did they repair the problem .the next day, they also paid the extra charge for the water that was lost.. We look at the fences with great pride
Description of Work: Took extra care not to trash the Garden, when removing the old fence. Constantly checked with us when running into obstacles. Created a space in the fence so a large tree could continue to grow freely

Installation went in on time and the fence looked beautiful. One year later (this May) my German shepherd dog rammed into a section of the fence where raccoons live behind it. the continuous barrage of my dogs broke a section of the fence. Town and County upon first being notified (one year later after installation) came to my house and replaced the broken section. It was not their fault as my dogs are aggressive and large but they did not balk at my request and came right out and fixed it for free - even though they didn't have to. That's the kind of service that makes me want to recommend them and use them again when needed. Top Class!
Description of Work: Took down and hauled away old rotten fence and brush and replaced it with a new six foot fence with pipe base. Pre-stained. That was one year ago in spring 2014. A couple of weeks ago they came out and fixed a broken section.

It went really well. The process took two days for this 120-foot run of fence. Day one was demo of the old fence and setting of the new posts in concrete. Day two (about a week later, after the concrete had set) was installation of the new fence, gates, etc. The crews worked efficiently and effectively, dealing creatively and sensibly with issues like a very soggy area through which the fence needed to run, and a change in trellis design that I requested after it became clear how the initially-specified one would turn out. The fence looks great; the gates and spiffy lock mechanisms work smoothly. Folks in the office were completely reasonable, despite several iterations of the quote to address various details. I'm a happy camper.

The fence is beautiful, but more importantly everything was done as expected. They came when they said, finished the job when they said and did a good job cleaning up. The person giving the estimate did a thorough job explaining and answering questions. Any fence needs I have in the future, they will be the first company I call. A neighbor referred me to them and their fence looks great too! It is so wonderful when you get a job well done.

We were very disappointed with our experience with this company. We have been trying to contact them for a while now and have yet to receive a response. I am writing this review prior to them hearing from them. I hope that once they come to complete the job I will be able to modify this review. I have taken photos of all the fence issues and a video of the wiggly fence and submitted them to the company. Our biggest concern is the weak post located by our rock wall. The fence is very wobbly at this point on the south side. (I can shake it with just one hand.) We were told the fence boards would be dipped and not need additional staining or treatment. Some boards were obviously not dipped - there's whole sides of boards that are untreated and it looks like the boards were brushed, not dipped. We have a piece of patched boards on the northern fence by our rock wall. Why were long boards not used? Adam walked the property in order to determine the amount of material to be use. A brand new fence that looks patched is not acceptable. Nails were not put in all the way. Many are sticking out on all sides of the fences. The fence has no Screws in it. Only nails were used. We were told during the estimate that screws would be used. The printing on the posts by both gates are very visible. For future work, please rotate posts by 90 degrees so the printing is in a less conspicuous spot. We are not going to ask to have this fixed - however, it is something you should improve upon for future clients. One of the neighbors saw your staff smoking throughout the whole day during the demolition and installation of the fence posts. This is not acceptable conduct on a job site. Also, please let your staff know that if they are going to mix front and back sides of a fence in a yard, they should do so consistently. We have two "front sides" to the fence, and one "back side" of a fence. (The northern and eastern fences are front sides and the south side is the back side.) From an aesthetic point of view, it would make more sense to have the side walls the same (both back or front) and the rear wall which is hidden from view behind the bushes be the "back" side of the fence. Again, not something we will ask to have fixed at this time, just another disappointment in this whole project. This is something that should be discussed with the customer during the walk through and estimate phase.

I thought when they put up the new fence, they would put my fence back up. Instead, they left the pieces of wood lying on the ground and went on their merry way. Now, there is open place between the gate and the new fence. I called to request them to put my old fence pieces back up. That was a week ago and nothing has been done - which is why I give them a fail on responsiveness, professionalism, punctuality and quality.
Description of Work: They actually were erecting a fence next door, but ended up extending that fence to the back of my property line (which is how they worked for me). They knocked down part of my fence attached to gate which was perpendicular to the old fence.

My neighbors came to me with proposals from three fence companies and really wanted to use Town and Country Fence so I went along with it and I have to say I am very disappointed. The company seemed very disorganized from the get go and that should have given me a clue as to what we were getting into but I believe in supporting small companies and know how sometimes the office does not get managed well because the strength is in the quality of the work. It took several months from when we spoke to the first person to get going on the job. In this time I had several conversations with different people and each time it seemed as if the right hand did not know what the left was doing. What one person told me was not what someone else said. I was very nervous about all of this by the time the work actually started as I still did not feel that there was clear communication or understanding of what was to be done. The fence did get put in and while it is okay it looks cheap for the amount of money we paid. We also had agreed to using pre-stained boards as we work full time and knew we would not have time to do all that it takes to preserve the fence for our weather yet when it was installed we had bare boards that we had to stain. The bigger issue for us was the gates. The old gates were sturdy and easy to use but were just wearing out so we thought we should replace them at the same time. The new gates are flimsy and will not hold up well. Besides this we had asked for our hardware to be reinstalled on the gates as we had heavy duty gate latches that were top quality and worked well. When I came home from work there were no latches at all. We have children as well as other people who daily use our gates so to not have any handles or latches was an immediate problem. I called that night and got an answering machine. I called every few days and finally spoke to someone and was told oh sorry, too bad nothing we can do the hardware is gone. Fast forward several months, when someone finally came by during the day, and with the poorest quality craftsmanship I have ever seen, installed two flimsy latches to the gates. The back lock they installed stuck to the point that we were unable to open the gate. Additionally, a splintered piece of wood was used under one of the latches that will break and fail within a few months. They did Finally come out and repair it, but it took over a week. I am beyond frustrated with this company and really disappointed that this is what someone calls professional. I would be embarrassed if I had left a job like this. We have since replaced the flimsy locks with the type that we had on before they took our old ones away, but we had to find the locks on our own and do the work ourselves. I would not recommend using this company
Description of Work: Replaced a fence line between my yard and the neighbors. As well, on a separate ticket replaced two front gates, the back gate and two very small alley gates.

The estimator arrived when he said he would, they put the posts in when they said they would and they built the fence the day they said they would for the price they quoted. I called them just to make sure that they would send me an invoice. Had to wait 3 weeks to start but this was after a wind storm, so understandable. The kicker was that my Home Owners Assocaiation paid for 1/3 of the cost because the fence was on the outer border of our development. Saved me $1,000!

Everyone at this company was amazing. From the receptionist to the person we talked to about paying with a credit card. We got bids from 6 other companies and then Adam came from Town & Country and we new that we had finally found a company that we wanted to work with. The guys who came to do the post and then complete the job always checked in and were friendly and they cleaned up after themselves .We actually like this company so much we have asked them for another bid on a small courtyard in the front area of our house that we did not replace!

Town and Country Fence was a joy to work with. I contacted them after seeing their sign on fences around the neighborhood, and after a storm knocked over a portion of our fence. Their estimators were fast and knowledgeable. They were responsive on email. They helped me figure out what kind of fence I wanted (there are a surprising lot of options!) by explaining all the options to me. They were not the lowest bidder, but I was having a hard time getting hold of that guy, so we went with Town and Country and we are really glad we did! The work was performed on schedule, for the estimated price ,and looks great. We got compliments from our neighbors, who then used Town and Country to replace their fence. I'm late in writing this review so I don't remember exactly how much it cost, but after two years, the fence still looks great!

It took a while to get the job and work scheduled, and I had to follow-up a few times to pin down the timing. I think it was partly they were just backed up, and partly due to inadequate communication. That said, once the job was scheduled, they performed quality work and the crew was amiable and efficient. They were a little sloppy with the clean-up after taking down the old chain link fence, and we had to pick up bits of metal that for sure would have injured our toddler. But, in the end, they did a good job and the cost seemed reasonable in comparison to other bids we received. Would recommend them for future work, though not a strong recommendation.

The gentleman that came to my home to give me an estimate was professional, knowledgeable and very friendly. He gave great advice and never tried to talk me into something I wasn't interested in. The process began on a Thursday when the posts were installed and completed the following Tuesday. I couldn't be happier with the final result. It actually turned out better than I expected. The only minor complaint I have is that some of the dirt/clay/rocks from the post holes was dumped on top of ground cover under one of my trees. After picking out most of the rocks, I'm hopeful the ground cover will emerge from the dirt and clay.

Do not do business with these people! Wisdom comes from Experience, You get Experience from making mistakes and learning from them. I have over 30 years of dealing with contractors, the great, bad, and ugly. You learn very quickly when using service industry contractors who place a high value on the customer experience, humble and craftsmen, and who places a higher value on themselves, their business. Wisdom says #1) you can always tell about a potential business experience in the first few minutes of your first contact. I contacted Matthew (listed as contact in Angie's list) and was immediately handed off to front office receptionist. Arranged for a simple estimate to be performed. On day of estimate, I let them know I could walk their estimator threw the details when he arrived and have him call me. Should have been very easy, we know exactly what we want and where it goes. Nothing... no call... no card left to even indicate he showed up... no email... no estimate... no service. Wisdom says #2) if contact point #1 if questionable, be aware of the rest of any project work in future. Chances are extremely high with each contact point after that things will get worse... delayed... over charged... potentially done poorly or wrong. Wisdom says #3) trust your instincts, protect yourself. If things feel wrong at the beginning avoid any further progress... Thanks for saving me the anxiety and headache of doing business with you! I hope other prospects will trust their experiences and wisdom as well.

Town and Country's estimate was the lowest of the three we got and Adam answered all our questions and gave us some good advice. He suggested we hire a land surveyor, which proved to be helpful in working with our neighbors. We then accepted Town and Country's bid and they sent Joel to take more measurements and arranged for additional people to mark the water and natural gas lines. We needed to get the job done within a month and they were very good about scheduling us within our timeline. First a crew of three came to set the posts. They laid out the fence, following the markers the land surveyor had placed, working around trees and cutting back shrubs as needed. They tore down the old fence on one side and hauled away some extra old fence wood at no additional charge. A week later, after the posts had set, a different crew came and installed the top railings and attached the chain link material. The fence looked beautiful when it was done, the gate worked fine and the yard was dog-proof as we requested. The job was completed more than a week before our deadline. Everyone at Town and Country was helpful, skillful and friendly. This was a very pleasant experience for us.

Highly disappointed with my interactions with Town and Country Fence. Received a bid from another competitor and called Town and Country to get another quote. Frank answered the phone and during the initial conversation was very pleasant and understanding of the situation, since I already have the survey information from the other provider, I provided Frank all the information to give me a ballpark figure. Frank provided me a quote, obviously give or take a couple dollars depending on what they saw once they came on site. Keep in mind, this is simply replacing an existing fence. The quote finally came back and was nearly double the amount I had been given over the phone. Assuming there was a reason for that, I called Frank to understand what was missed. Frank could not have been less professional, arguing with me and confrontational that it was ONLY A PHONE quote. While I understand there is to be some discrepancy, all I was looking for was an explanation. That said, I’ll be looking for another provider.
