Regarding price, it is my mistake for not getting other bids first, but I did get 4 more out of curiosity. 1 of them was more outrageous. 3 of them were $2,000+ less and they were going to complete MORE WORK i.e. replace the fascia and window/door trimming and PAINT the siding. Third Arm was subcontracted by Home Depot, so it is hard to tell who really screwed this one up. I did not communicate directly with Third Arm other than the workers in my yard. As such, I will try to spare the full-on rant. I was originally scheduled for 10/5/15 for the project to start. No call/no show. I called Home Depot. The project was rescheduled to 10/13. The crew showed up and tore down my old siding. I arrived home halfway through and found no lead abatement procedures were being followed, which I was being charged for. I also found there was some rotten and broken boards that fortunately for me had not been re-covered with weatherproofing yet, otherwise I would have never known. The guys on site had no idea if anyone knew about it or would be contacting me to see if I wanted it fixed, indicating they surely had no intention of alerting anyone to it. They left a coke can in my yard and an empty cigarette pack NEXT TO my garbage can. Yes, they were smoking on site. Doesn't bother me entirely, but it might someone else and it still seems unprofessional to be hanging off a ladder with a cig hanging out of your mouth. The guys on site said they'd probably be the ones back for the rest of the week. No call/no show 10/14. Home Depot said they'd call Third Arm. Home Depot did not call me back with a resolution. No call/no show 10/15. I called Home Depot who said they'd call Third Arm. They did and called me back, assuring me the project would start 8:30am on 10/16 and run to the finish. I arrived home 10/16 at 11:30am to find 3 ladders, a few chords, and a saw table placed in my yard but NO WORK DONE. AT ALL. Enraged and fed up with the runaround, I called Home Depot and told them to fire Third Arm. They tried to tell me the guys went to pick up lumber to fix the rotten wood. Home Depot is 10 minutes away from my house and if they were on time at 8:30am, there is NO reason it should have taken them 3 hours. Two guys from Third Arm arrived at 12:40pm. Well, I'm not sure about the first guy because when I asked if they were with Third Arm since the truck was unmarked, he just stared at me blankly and pointed to the second guy. I informed them they were fired and they gathered their ladders, chords, saw table, and left without any fanfare. PS, they did not have any lumber. I truly felt they (collectively: Home Depot and Third Arm) thought I would be stupid enough to be satisfied that work had been done because they put stuff in my yard to make it look like they had been there. Because I don't know which company really messed this up and my belief stated above, I am also in the process of cancelling my contract with Home Depot.
Description of Work: Siding project on <800 sq ft home to include tear down of old cedar shake w/ lead based paint. The original contract had me doing the fascia, window, door trimming. I do not know if they were going to paint over the caulking or if that was going to be left to me under the assumption I wouldn't know they SHOULD do it since I paid extra for the pre-painted hardieplank.
