They were punctual and the project was quite challenging. The workers were professional and did a great job. I had a fence that needed removed and they even spent the time to put the fence back up. I was impressed with the work done and I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I have a 14 year home that had issues with outside ground settling. They fixed front walkway and steps, walkway along side of garage and back cement padding outside garage door.

Response from SLABJACK NW LLC
When a potential customer calls in, our dispatchers immediately create an appointment on our calendar. Our company utilizes a very advanced scheduling software which provides the capability to search for any and all appointments by name, address, and any other relevant contact information. Upon discussing this review with our dispatchers and searching for this member's contact information, we have no record of an appointment or any phone calls as mentioned. If a customer leaves a voicemail message, we return their call within 24 business hours. We are a small business and due to high call volumes in the spring, there may be times our dispatchers will not be able to get to the phone. Our company provides thousands of free, onsite proposals every year. We will be attempting to contact this member to determine where the miscommunication occurred.

The guy came out very punctual and did the job. He told me what he was gonna do, showed me why it had to be done and explained to me what was gonna happen which I appreciated. We set a date, the team showed up and took care of the job. It was kind of the pricey side but they did the job that needed to be done. They were very professional.

Our 20 year old home is built on a slab which had suffered settling causing the floor covering to pull up in some areas. After closer inspection it was discovered that the settling ranged from approximately ¼ inch to over 2 inches in places. We called Slabjack and made an appointment to get an estimate. Bill arrived exactly on time, surveyed the floor, and explained the process to correct the issues. We received an estimate right there and we were very happy with it. It was certainly a pleasure to receive Bill?s friendly expert advice. We accepted The Bid and proceeded forward. During the removal of all the floor coverings in the house we discovered more issues with the slab in different areas. We called Bill and he was able to come by the next day and again provide us with his expert advice. The day the work was scheduled Luke and Mark arrive exactly on time. They assessed the scope of work and started setting up right away. There was an issue in the kitchen were the builder of the house had poured self-leveling concrete. This created a concern with them in the fact that this area might be raised higher than the rest of the slab, or if this area was raised to make it level other areas might be slightly lower. Luke and Mark recommended removal of the self-leveling concrete. With the use of a roto hammer, hammers and chisels the self-leveling concrete was removed and the slab made level. I was very happy with the outcome of the work. Luke and Marks recommendation to remove the self-leveling concrete was spot on. Their advice and professionalism resulted in a final product that was perfect. Both men were very careful moving their equipment around the interior of the house, taking great caution not to mark up the walls. At completion of the work they did a great job of clean up. I certainly recommend Slabjack to anyone in need of concrete leveling. The remodel of our entire house was a very stressful process, and working with Slabjack, their pride, and professionalism sincerely reduced the stress. In the end we have a final product that we will love for many years to come. A big thank you to Bill, Luke and Mark. Great job!

Overall, as I stated above, it was a totally refreshing experience to get such an honest, straightforward review of our situation. So many companies today are just out to get your dollar. That is not the case with SlabJack NW - in my opinion, they are true professionals in every way!!
Description of Work: Bill came to inspect/estimate on our concrete aggregate slab which has had some cracking going on. He was very professional and totally honest about the work that could be done and what our other options were (ours wasn't as bad as we'd thought it was - which is a good thing!) He told us to keep an eye on it and if there were any more settling, to let them know. So I can't comment on their quality of work, but judging from their responsiveness, professionalism, and the price he quoted if they were to possibly do some minimal work, I was totally pleased and we will definitely hire SlabJack NW in the future if needed. He gave us some great ideas on how to deal with the minor problems we are experiencing now and what to watch for. They are obviously a very good company and based on my experience today, I would definitely recommend their services!! Thanks again Bill - you put our minds to ease and we'll definitely be following your advice!!

Our front porch had been slowly sinking on one side for several years, and finally got to the point that there was a noticeable slant to the front porch roof. Ed Blechen from Slabjack NW came out and took a look at the area. He put together a detailed estimate, but he was very honest that with several cracks in the porch, he couldn't promise that slabjacking wouldn't just cause more cracking. He was willing to do the job, but cautioned us that we should know the downside to slabjacking and instead, we might want to look at replacing the entire front porch. We did end up working with a cement contractor to replace the entire front porch. What I wanted to commend Ed for was his willingness to do the job and to do it in such a way as to minimize the problems it might create, but at the same time, his honesty about the potential downside to the job. Unfortunately, you don't find this kind honesty and ethics with many businesses any more. I know a neighbor in the area had work done by 1-866-slabjack, and if we needed slabjacking done, I would definitely use them. Thanks, Ed

After setting up an appointment, the contractor was a no show. Called several times and left messages on voice mail. No return call. Can't say if I would use them again, because we couldn't use them the first time. Slabjack called back after reading this review, apologized, and sent out an estimator who inspected our property, provided an estimate and explained clearly how they worked. I haven't decided yet because using their services would entail removing everything from our garage which is a daunting task.

There was an unforeseen glitch in our scheduling software which we had not experienced prior to this incident. As a result Member's appointment did not appear on our estimators calendar for the date he’d been scheduled. The issue with the software has been addressed and resolved. Member was provided an onsite proposal Thursday, 11/10/11, which was the earliest he was available to meet.

They were very easy to work with. Their estimate was right on. There were no problems. They were very friendly. Everything is fine. There is a little bit of discoloration in the cement where they drilled the holes, but there is nothing you can do about the color of the cement. The workers that came out were friendly. We had no problems with them either. They told us what was going to happen and what they could do. Everything they told us happened. They were half the price of the cost of replacement.

our estimater was thorough and professional. he pointed out that our problem may not be easy to solve, but that the work would improve the appearance significantly. the crew that came only a few days later (FAST service) was focused and professional and did as much as they could to lift one of the concrete pads. they gave us easy-to-follow instructions to complete the look of the patio area, and on their own initiative, jacked several other slabs that we hadn't noticed were in need of a lift. they double-checked their work and made sure we were happy with the outcome. the value of the work far exceeded the price we paid, as the entire area looks much newer and neater. i have already recommended them to friends.
Description of Work: we needed help re-leveling a do-it-yourself job from about 40 years ago by the previous owner. several small slabs of concrete had heaved at different angles where they intersected. there was also the problem of a "curbing" that was incorporated into one of the slabs and that curbing was poured right up to the bottom of the siding, thus limiting the amount of lift we could get on that and all adjacent slabs.

Beginning with the estimator who treated me as an adversary verses a client, portions of the presentation were omitted or glossed over. Specifically, travel time to and from the job was not discussed as my job was supposed to be "coupled" with another in the area. This was not true. Emphasis was placed on the fact that leveling concrete is not an exact science and in fact the actual work was mostly experienced-based guessing which provided a satisfactory result. The crew arrived one hour late, took 45 minutes to complete the work, and I was billed for 6 man hours. It should be noted that the proposal amount and the billed amount were the same. I agree that I should pay for travel to my home, and for the time taken to do the job. I really don't think I should have been billed for time after they left the site as it did not relate to my job. The crew was polite and the least experience person (by his admission) did the leveling. Again, he did a good job of correcting the unevenness we had. There was some over-spray/spillage left on my siding but I cleaned it up with minimal effort. My primary concerns relative to this experience are: 1) The cost which was completely disclosed by the bid, but when the work was performed seemed excessive for what was involved, 2) Paying for their return from my job when the techs told me they had another job in Federal Way which would logically be on their way back to Issaquah, and 3) their lack of attention to detail to my siding. I will investigate other options before using Slabjack again as I believe there are better ways to get a level patio.

Members were offered to have their siding cleaned, but Member stated he had already taken care of the overspray and noted he understood how the crew could have missed it given the amount of rain coming down while they were onsite. The price provided and agreed to by the customer takes into account not only the labor and travel time associated with a job, but several other costs involved with our service such as the repair and maintenance required for our custom commercial vehicles and equipment. This is typical of many construction companies. We are a family owned and operated company. The service we provide is a cost effective alternative to replacing concrete. Our pricing is simply intended to cover the costs involved in providing our service. The man hours mentioned in the report refers to a number listed on the customer invoice which is for internal use only and was misinterpreted. The label for this internal data has been relabeled as a result.

My garage floor and driveway were sinking. It left big gap between the garage door and the floor. The company’s estimator came right on time. He was very patient and extremely knowledgeable. He spent his time to find out the cause of the sinking floor. I got great advice on things needed to be fixed around the house. The crew came next a couple of days and was very punctual. They were efficient and very professional. Hours later, my garage and driveway were raised to the original level just like they said. The crew member left my garage spotless after the work. I started noticing the difference on my driveway. The moss starts disappearing. The driveway floor appears to be dry even after days of rain.

They arrived when they said they would. Worker came to the door and introduced himself. Even stopped and moved his truck so the neighbor could get down the private drive (which wasn't necessary). He told me that it would be noisy for a while, and the whole job was done in an hour to an hour and a half. He was completely professional and got the job done quickly. He explained everything he did, and knocked on the door when he was done to let me know to steer clear of the front step for 30 minutes after job completion. Professional, friendly and competent. The porch and walkway look great. The only thing we questioned afterwards is why we waited so long.

The techs were neat, left the job site clean and did the best job they could under the circumstances of our job site. I would call them for a bid again, but since it's a pricey job I would get other estimates next time. Since they were listed high on Angie's list I didn't bother with other estimates, I just wanted the job done. All in all they did a really good job. I feel safer with the elderly people that come to our home, the distance from the porch to the sidewalk is 3" closer now. I was worried about someone falling and breaking a hip.
