Excellent service overall. We were given a very thorough and thoughtful estimate by Zak who was very concerned for our best interests, especially where the lead removal/abatement was concerned. Zak followed up appropriately after we received his detailed bid. Once we accepted the bid they made every effort to get the job started as soon as possible. The crew were the same fellows every day. The crew lead was very attentive, communicative, receptive, asked good questions about how we wanted things done (i.e. to paint or not paint the downspouts, to paint iron posts a certain color or not). The carpenter who replaced the siding was very thorough and conscientious and did an excellent job. Communication with the main office/company owners was reliable: phone calls were returned and questions answered appropriately and in a timely, professional manner.
Description of Work: Pressure washed and scraped down old lead-based exterior paint, vacuumed up paint chips and removed them. Tore down old rotten siding and replaced with almost the exact kind to match the original siding of 1955 house. Painted entire exterior--all previously painted surfaces including siding, soffits, trim, deck surface, security doors, iron and wood railings. Also pressure washed walkways.

Very messy, plunked their supplies where ever, right in the middle of the garage we couldn't park our cars in our 4 car garage. Stuff was gone & all of a sudden things were being delivered and we didn't know what was going on. They were in my face, wouldn't let us know what they were doing. Didn't trust them at all. Won't ever use them again & won't ever recommend them.

We can only appologize for a job not done well. We had some difficulty with our drywall division and have decided that we will no longer do complete installation of drywall. We have, for many years, been a drywall repair and paint company and have decided to stick with what we know best. To all that may read this report, you will see it is over a year old. (We stopped the complete drywall division many months ago.) For your painting and dywall repair needs please look at our many (A) reports from our Angies List members.

Bill Johnson was our job site manager and he has his own crew, who did an excellent job. They were very professional and did what they said they were going to do, when they said they were going to do it. They also cleaned up very well afterwords. We were so pleased with the work that when we needed the interior of our house painted (April of 2011), I called Bill again. It turns out he and his crew moved to Seattle Drywall (yes, the names are similar, but it is a different company). So we simply hired Bill and the same crew, but via their new company, to paint the interior of our home. And we had the same great results. I think the crew and their supervisor are just as important as the company and would highly recommend Bill. We would certainly use them again if the need arose. Nicole
Description of Work: Painted the outside of our house which is 2-story and includes a 2 car garage. They did all the sanding, water blasting and prep work, as well as all the trim painting. It was a very thorough job.

This is the first report we have ever had where a previous client went to two former employees who now operate a new company, oddly enough, very close to our company name. We appreciate every good report, but please note, we are Seattle Paint & Drywall, Company. Unfortunately, our previous client contacted our former employee and was drawn to their new company so we missed out on a repeat client. Thank you for your honest report about us. We were really happy with the end product but there was little trouble with the company they had contracted with to do the drywall. So they had to send someone else out to finish the work but we were really happy with the results and everythign was taken care. Overall it was a good experience.

1) Dry wall work was fine. The ceiling looks smooth. 2) Paint was not done right. a) We bought the top line "HD" paint from Lowes. We very carefully measured the areas to be painted and estimated how much paint and primer would be needed and padded it 30%. They insisted that we buy twice the amount we had in our padded estimated. At the end of the job we had more than half the paint unused, and not returnable (custom color) ~ $40 / gal x 9 gallons. b) They didn't read any directions on the paint. They sprayed primer. Sprayed paint over it one hour later. Sprayed a second coat of paint over that before it was dry. The primer requires a minimum of 4 hrs to dry before painting over it. c) When they came back to mask the ceiling to paint the walls after a weekend of drying, the masking tape pulled the ceiling paint off. d) As they blasted paint around, they created actual pools of paint on the drop cloths. We put down extra plastic over the paper they put down. If we had not done it, I hate to think what would have happend to our carpets. Result: We have a fully painted house that is shiny, not flat, because these guy's don't read instructions. It is peeling off in places only three months later. Where they did touchup with a roller ( where the tape pulled away paint in every room), there are flat blotches of paint that don't match the rest of the ceiling. This is in every room. These guys are clueless, and I would not let them near my house again. We moved every stick of furnature out of our house and lived in hotels for this? Strike three for Angie's list.
Description of Work: 1) Drywall work to prepare the ceilings for paint after another company had removed the popcorn ceiling. 2) Paint all walls and ceiling using paint we supplied.

Response from Seattle Paint and Drywall Co
First, we would like to respond that this is not an a-typical report we receive from our Angie's List customers, as you can see from our many "A" reports. This customer chose more than one color and a large area of the home was painted. We did overestimate the amount of paint needed on two of the colors by a couple gallons each. The other paint was primer, which (to our knowledge) was returnable. Our painters work with primers and paint every day. They are able to read and are very knowledgeable regarding applications. As you have read, the customer purchased their own paint. The paint the customer purchased did not live up to their expectations, having a sheen, where it should have been flat, and caused "blotches". We offered to compensate the customer on the cost of the paint issue at our cost, for a quality paint from our supplier. The customer chose to reject our offer and keep the paint for a future project. It is most unfortunate that this member has had three bad experiences with "A" rated Angie's List contractors. This is most uncommon. Again, we simply ask that you examine all our "A" reports before making a choice. Owner, Seattle Paint & Drywall.

Overall the paint project went very well. We could not be at home while they were on site working, so there were some issues that needed to be addressed when we returned. Also, there were some language problems with the paint crew. However, as soon as I contacted them, they quickly came back out to address our concerns. They were very responsive to ensure we were very satisfied with the results. After everything was completed we were billed the estimated amount. Overall, they did an excellent job and I would definitely consider using them again.

Another provider had primed the space, but done a sloppy job. Zak and company came in, gave a bid less than half the price of Queen Anne Painters, fixed cracks, and did a simply fantastic job of painting our interior hallway, stairs. and bedroom. They did exactly what they said they were going to, when they said they were going to, for the price they quoted us. Great experience. I can't wait to use them again.

Bill and his crew did a great job. They did exactly what they said they would do. They would show up on time every day and leave with everything out of the way. We added a couple of things in the middle of the job and Bill took care of it, no problem. When I say they did a great job I am really talking about the workmanship, clearly done by experienced, professional painters. When we get around to redoing the interior I am definitely calling them back.
Description of Work: Painted the exterior of the our house, cleaned and stained the deck. Its a 2 story house with a small deck. 3 colors were used, 1 for the siding, 1 for the trim and 1 for the front door. The deck was stained trim color.

We had Seattle Paint and Drywall do the exterior of our house this summer and they did such a fantastic job that when we needed to do some interior painting, we gave them a call again. This job was a little more challenging because the project manager, Bill, was unable to physically come to the house to bid the job, but because we were returning customers and he'd been in the house just a few months before, he did his best to bid the job. Saul and his crew were polite and professional. We did have some challenges with paint color. My requested color, American Tradition's Churchill Navajo White, and Kelley Moore's Navajo White are NOT the same! But the bedroom was already painted when we discovered this, we decided to roll with it because it was already done, and in the end, my husband liked the tan color better than the originally requested white anyway. The trim was also requested in the same Churchill Navajo White, but the Kelly Moore paint that arrived at our home was a brilliant white. My husband had to make a trip down to the local Lowe's to buy the correct paint for the painters to use to finish the job. The crew finished the job in two days, as promised.
Description of Work: Paint two bedrooms upstairs (approximately 398 square feet), a small floor (40 square feet), and the trim in the downstairs of the house.

Zak Fike came out to give us a bid on Sat., Aug. 11th. When he was looking at our home exterior, he noticed a couple damaged boards high up on the house and offered to have someone come out and replace the boards before the house was painted. Later that day we had another painter come to give us a bid and we pointed out the damaged boards to him, but he didn't want to do anything with them other than paint over them. We appreciated Zak noticing the damaged boards and offering to have someone replace them before painting the house. We received their proposal via email on Tuesday, Aug. 14th. They pressure washed the house the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 7th. They even quickly pressure washed our back patio! I would have appreciated knowing what time I should expect them because I thought I needed to be home in order for them to start the job. When I called the company to find out when I should expect them, I was told I didn't need to be home. They never needed to come in the house at all, not even to use the bathroom! (Another painting company was going to bring a portable toilet to leave on our property while they did the job.) They completed the prep work on Thursday and showed up early Friday morning to begin painting the exterior. I was surprised they came so early. I was busy getting my kids ready for school and would have gotten dressed earlier if I'd known they were going to be there that early. However, they did a fabulous job painting our house. It looks great. They had a big crew that was able to finish painting it by Saturday, despite some rain. Zachary came back the next week to do the final touch ups and walk through. They left some small debris on the ground, but otherwise, it looked great.
Description of Work: We hired Seattle Paint & Drywall Inc. to paint the exterior of our house after requesting bids from three different companies on Angie's List. We picked them because of their high ratings on Angie's List and because they had the best price of the bids we had received.

We were very pleased with the experience and the result. In spite of the on again/off again rain, the job got completed before the real rains of fall/winter. Workers were very respectful of property and quiet. Cleaned up each day. When I had some concerns with the trim (on the older part of the house not really built with appropriate trim), Bill immediately offered to return the crew for another coat of paint. This was done in a timely manner. While this was not the lowest bid we received, the size and experience of the company and the completeness of the services offered caused us to select Seattle Paint and Drywall. I would hire them again and recommend them to all.
Description of Work: Painted exterior of 3-story house: pressure washed, calked, primed and painted two coats of paint. Painted different color on trim. Went from a dark color to a light color on the house. Difficult access to various parts of the house. House is on a hill with two upper story decks and stairs.

I spoke with Mark over the telephone, and he sent me a quote for $650 (excluding tax). We scheduled a tentative date the following Monday, but he needed to confirm the availability of his crew. Not having heard from Mark over the weekend, I assumed that he would call on Monday to reschedule. Instead, I received a call at work around 10 am that the crew would be at my building shortly. This was an interuption to my day that could have been avoided with better communication. Despite the bumpy start, the crew that completed the work was outstanding. They were very friendly and conscientious. The work was done according to plan, and they were attentive to clean-up upon completion.

Bill was the manager in charge of our exterior paint job. He provided a detailed estimate which included pressure wash, scraping the exterior, a coat of primer and two coats of paint for our two story home and 2 car detached garage. His team was on-time, pleasant and performed well. They had to move some heavy planters and patio furniture and did so without complaint, as well as putting it all back. They were also careful with our landscape. We had two small issues that needed to be fixed; a small area they forgot to paint and some slight bubbling due to the continuously damp weather. Although I had already paid in full, Bill was very conscientious about getting his team back out to our home and correcting the problems in a timely manner. I am almost glad this happened because it restored my faith that there are GOOD contractors out there. Bill could have left me hanging since I already paid, but instead he was just as concerned with the job and my satisfaction as at the beginning of the project. I would not hesitate to recommend this company. We received two other proposals and Seattle Paint & Drywall was about in the middle of the price range. It was a good choice for us.

Never recieved a call back to set up and appointment for an estimate. I called on a Tuesday and was told by the receptionist that the drywall person would call me to set up a time to come by for an estimate. By Friday I had heard nothing, I called back. Very apologeticly the receptionist said she was sorry and that someone would get back to me right away. Still I didn't hear anything from anyone that day or in the days after. We've found someone else to do the job at this point.

After my regular painter went to Wisconsin, it was time to go back to Angie List for other painters in the area. I emailed 3 painters for bids to paint an old duplex that the trim, doors and window casings had peeled so bad that they looked like corn chips. One company did not respond. Another sent me a bid that was generic, very little detail. Seattle Paint & Drywall contacted me by phone the next day (Friday). By Tuesday the following week, I had a bid that was detailed to the brand of paint they would be using. Bill Johnson, the estimator/foreman said they were in complete compliance with the new codes about dealing with old building that have lead paint on them. I accepted the bid, and a date was set for the painting to be done. I had mentioned to him that I was concerned about one of my tenants, she was pregnant and was due at the time of the scheduled painting. He told me he would try to move the date up, but were no guarantees that it would happen. One week later Bill called and said he’d been thinking about my pregnant tenant and would like to start pressure washing with a Bio-detergent the next day. Ten days later I got a call from Bill telling me that they were finished. 2 ½ weeks early! I checked it out and everything looked great. I’m very pleased with how Bill handled this from day one. Thank you so much.
Description of Work: Seattle Paint and Drywall applied and Bio-detergent solution to all mildewed areas and pressure washed the entire duplex. They scraped and sanded all loose & flaking paint and failing caulking, windows and doors. They recaulked all failed caulk on joints, cracks, knot holes etc. They masked all areas not being painted. They painted all gutter. They primed the entire house, spray and back roll. For the siding, they put two coats of latex paint; sprayed, back rolling the first coat. For the trim, they put two coats of latex paint; brushed and back rolled on all wood trim including all door wraps. They scraped, sanded and primed the doors with two coats of paint. Rear porch was washed and sanded and Brush and roll two coats Cabbott's Acrylic deck stain. They cleaned up and disposed of all waste leaving the job site neat and clean. They left two touch-up kits with one gallon of each paint color used on the building. All paints were Rodda paint, except the Cabbotts used for the stairs. This information is what was on my original bid.

Prompt and quick to give us a bid. Bid was slightly lower than 3 others. I detailed out some of the contract, which was not an issue for them. Honest, even when I inquired about what turned out to be a paper mistake (state misfiled). Impressed with who and how that inquiry was handled. The team of 2 guys were quick, professional, kind, trustworthy, orderly and clean. My husband and I were amazed with their work. 2800 sf home from power washing to the clean up at end was 6 business days (and some of those days were short - 6 hours). Professional and helpful when I called the office or Jeremy. I highly recommend 2 coats and the paint they use. I researched paint and painting companies extensively. We are very satisfied with our choices- Seattle Paint and Drywall and Rodda. My husband and I honestly believe the exterior paint brought a higher than expected appraisal amount for a refi. Appraiser spent about 5 minutes feeling, looking and saying many positive comments to me. Many compliments from neighbors and friends as well. Our home really pops, stands out positively on the block.
Description of Work: Prep, minor fixes and painted exterior of our 2800 square foot, 10 year old home. Pressure wash the entire house to remove loose debris. Scrape & sand any and all loose & flaking paint and failing caulking. Re caulk all joints cracks knot holes ect. Mask & protect all areas not being painted Prime any raw exposed wood prior to applying finish coats. (2) Coats paint; sprayed, back rolling the first coat on siding. (2) Coats paint; brushed and rolled on all wood trim including all door wraps. Front entry Door - Sprayed with semi-gloss polyurethane oil to a fine finish. Cleaned up & disposed of waste leaving our home neat & clean Included was a touch-up kit with one gallon of each paint color.

Great. Bill was very prompt about getting us an estimate and always answered emails about the project the same day. The crew was always on time, courteous, and they were meticulous about prepping the house and fence. They also did a great job of cleaning up each day and putting everything back in place when the job was completed. When the wrong paint color was used on the shutters I emailed Bill and he had the shutters taken down and repainted with the right color the following day. We selected our own paint colors, but used their designer (MaryAnn) who had some great suggestions about which colors to use in different locations on the house. We couldn't be happier with the finished project and have already received several compliments from neighbors about how great the house looks. We will definitely use this company again and will recommend them to others.
Description of Work: We hired Seattle Paint & Drywall to paint the exterior of our house, stain a newly installed deck railing, and stain an existing fence. We used a total of four paint colors on the house in addition to painting some concrete stairs at the entrance. The project took one day to power wash everything, and 7 days to prep and paint.

What an amazing job. The south facing wall of my house was in poor shape, in part because it takes the brunt of the weather, but also because it suffered from a bad paint job about 10 years ago. Bill was fantastic, met me at times that worked for me, gave me a fair bid for the whole house, and made sure that the job was done correctly. The prep work was so thorough that when the top coat went on it made my almost 100 year old house look brand new. The crew was thorough, and kept the area clean, there wasn't so much as a stray paint chip to be found. Bill was amazing, always available either in person, by phone or email. He went out of his way to make sure that the job got done correctly. He came out in person to go over the bill and together we inspected the job. I have never had a better paint job.

JEREMY, did show up on time and promised to submit bid via mail. after 2 weeks i called to find out where & why i did not receive it and was given a poor excuse. a few days later their proposal showed up. after throughly and painstakingly comparing it to the 2 other proposals we decided NOT to use seattle paint & drywall because their proposal was NOT competitive. more than $1,000 dollars higher than the next bid. the other 2 painting contractors use "sherwin williams" duration paint. a much better product than the rodda paint offered. because i know the Fike family Jeremy said he would offer me a break on the price and he did not. ***UPDATE*** Seattle Paint & Drywall should consul their employees that when out in the public view they should behave professional at all times as representatives of the company.
Description of Work: show up as scheduled & review exterior whole house painting job, submit proposal-bid.

I am not really sure how to respond to this individual other than to say, first of all, that I am the senior of this company and have operated it since 1985. We do not know this gentleman nor the fact that he personally knows any of my family. Next, it is only apparent that with so many other reports about my son, the statements don't agree about his professionalism or our field workers or office staff. We're sorry for your personal opinion. We work very hard so that everyone has a great experience with our company. Owner Seattle Paint and Drywall

I needed my decks cleaned and re-stained, and since the companies I contacted also did house exteriors, I got estimates for that also, which I had not had done for 25 years. They did all the cleaning and pressure washing on a Wednesday so it would all be dry to begin the following Monday. So that water did not leak under the sliding glass doors that opened onto the decks, they even taped plastic over them. The last time I had someone pressure wash my decks, I had spent hours mopping up! Thus was just the first instance of the attention to detail that was evident throughout the whole job. Bright and early Monday, Carlos and his assistant began the extensive prep work while Jeremy and I decided on colors. Jeremy insists on testing the color choices before purchasing in quantity. Thank goodness! Stains have to be blended. The paint store was so backed up that it was two days before he could get even a sample. When tested on the siding and deck, the stains looked nothing like what was shown on the color chart, yet, when we put a dab on the color chip on the chart, it matched exactly, Thank you, Jeremy, for saving the day! Another of his brilliant ideas was to take a section on one of my downspouts to the paint store in order to have the deck and railing stain and trim paint match the gutters. The problems with getting samples and quantities of stain and paint was another area in which Jeremy saved the day. For some reason, the store did not have sufficient stain stock to be able to mix the colors - AND it took them a day to do that! Whether for a sample can or the whole lot, the store would have to order it a day ahead from the warehouse! To expedite matters, Jeremy himself took the paint from the warehouse to the store so they could mix it. Now that's service above and beyond! Carlos and his assistant were experienced, thorough, and meticulous. For example, when they stained my garage door, they asked that I open the door first so they could put paper under it for protection. I asked if I needed to move my car, which was is the garage, Carlos said, "No," so I went inside. On second thought, I decided to ask them to cover the car, just in case stain did come through the cracks, but when I went to tell them, they had ALREADY covered it! Over the several days, everything was always tidy when they left each day. Being stain, several days were needed before they could come back to check for any places that needed a bit extra caulk and/or stain and windows that needed a bit of cleaning. That's when I made my own inspection, limited by the fact I couldn't climb a ladder or walk on the decks. When they returned, I showed Carlos what I had noticed, but he noticed things I had missed! They spent more than half a day just touching up and cleaning up. Over the course of the weeks, Jeremy was very responsive to any questions I had. When I mentioned one small section siding looked as though it needed more stain, he came by and touched it up himself. Noting that the can of that stain had very little remaining, he later brought me a full one! What a superb experience!

This experience was fantastic from start to finish. Jeremy came out for an initial quote and had great input on what I should paint and his knowledge was impressive. His quote was very reasonable. His team came out on time and he walked them around to prepare them for the job. They worked 8 days and were professional throughout the entire process. The prep that this team put into the painting process was very thorough. The on-site lead employee was respectful of our privacy anytime he worked inside or near a window. He was always on time, even early, cleaned up each day, went above and beyond what we had hired him for and was pleasant to have around. The quality of workmanship was above what I could have expected. I recommend Seattle Paint and Drywall to anyone needing paint services.
Description of Work: I hired Seattle Paint and Drywall to paint the interior and exterior of 9 doors, as well as paint the trim of all windows, a fence and exterior stair trim. The house was pressure washed, thoroughly prepped and painted.
