They were great! It was a difficult house to work on, and we questioned how anyone could even reach parts of it - but they did. They completed the entire project in warp speed - the only slow down was due to our Seattle weather. We are sure that the job required more work and supplies than estimated, but we were not charged any additional fees. We are very happy with the outcome.
Description of Work: Once contacted, they gave us an estimate within days, started the project immediately which included power washing, some scraping, priming, and painting the exterior of the house.

It was neat to hear the history of your home and how your huband and others personally built it. You have a personal attachment to your home and take great pride it how it looks. Thank you for letting us make it look great when it was in need of being repainted. It is a gorgeous home in the setting of woods and your colors blend in perfect. We our happy to know you are very satified with the outcome and know you will enjoy how it looks for years to come. Thank you for your kind words and for taking time for this report.

The process was very smooth. They arrived promptly in the morning and cleaned up completely before they left in the evenings. They were very respectful and considerate to my wife and kids who were home and often outside enjoying the sun, or when the youngest was taking a nap. This was a couple years ago and the house still looks great.
Description of Work: They pressure washed then painted the exterior of the house and stained the new deck.

They were OK but not great. I think we saw some hairs in the paint and there were some spots that were missed. Their responsiveness was fine though. We didn't really have to contact them.

We live in a house that is not easy to paint. The first two painters who came to do an estimate were clearly intimidated by the job, and the quotes reflected the difficulty of painting the exterior of a tall house with poor access. On the recommendation of our original builder, we called Seattle Paint and Drywall, and from that point on it was smooth sailing. First of all, the estimator looked at our house and said it would be absolutely no problem; they often painted buildings that were much more challenging. The estimate was very reasonable, so we hired them, and we were totally thrilled with the job they did. The painters showed up exactly when promised, they were quiet and efficient and thorough, the job was completed in a timely manner, and they never left any mess. There was an attention to detail that went beyond what we could have imagined. And it was clear that customer service was a top priority. We felt like valued customers from start to finish. Almost two years have passed since our house was painted, and it still looks great. Even the deck and the fence that they stained have held up well. Any time someone we know mentions that they need to get their house painted, we enthusiastically refer them to Seattle Paint and Drywall.

I thought I did that in the above box. It was an A plus number 1 job!!
Description of Work: I had heard of Seattle paint and drywall for years. When I contacted them, they were very friendly and very professional. They were out the next day to give me an estiment. I also had 2 other companies come out to give estiments. Seattle paint was right in the middle of the 2 other estiments. I chose them because of how professional the were and because they were very polite and were always smiling. They finished the prep work in 1 day and the taping the next day and on the 3rd day everything was done and cleaned up. No mess just a beautiful new paint job. I had a big BBQ that weekend and everyone loved the new color. I would recemend them to anyone. They do great work!! Walter Keith

From the first day the paint crew was on time and very considerate of surrounding areas not to be painted. My house is two stories and all the windows are shuttered and had to be removed to be painted. They did this with great care. There was alot of prep work to be done and they were very organized. My home finished now and is just beautiful. They did an awesome job and I would recommend this company to anyone who asks.
Description of Work: After looking into painting companies and calling several, I took the advise of a friend and called Seattle Paint and Drywall Co. I met with Pat who took the time to answer all my questions. He was extremely patient with me and understood how much I cared about my home. The next day he brought me a written estimate that detailed everything we had talked about. He told me to think about it for a few days and call with any questions. I was very impressed with his professional attitude and knowledge of this industry. We scheduled a start date for the prep work and the project was on its way.

Working with Seattle Paint and Drywall company was a breeze. Patrick Sears was wonderful on the phone answering my many of thousands of questions that I had and not getting frustrated with me (which could have been very easy). The workers they sent to do the job were right on time which was great for me when I have a tight schedule in the morning to get my 2 kids to school and myself to work. They were also super friendly the entire time they were at my house and very courteous to our surroundings which include 3 dogs, 2 cats and 2 small children! I would definitely hire Seattle Paint and dry wall again..which may be sooner than later since I would love my bedroom and bathroom painted now also. I would recommend them for sure to all my friends and family. If you are looking for a friendly team who really care about the work that they provide, I highly recommend Seattle Paint and Drywall co. you won't be disappointed. -Happy Home owner
Description of Work: Patrick Sears does a great job to help with all the details of the job that will be provided and very friendly as well. Wonderful job of the entire Exterior of our home. Paint clean up was immaculate you would have never known they were there. Painters were very friendly and happy to be at the house, you could tell they were proud of the work they were perferming.

We were very up front about our expectations and we stated that we were willing to pay more to ensure that the work was done to our standards. The project was a disaster and while we paid twice what they charged for similar projects, the work was done poorly, the company was extremely dishonest, promises that the "salesperson" made never materialized, and even though we paid them with the assurance that they would rectify the situation, they never did. Response: I see that Seattle Paint and Drywall responded to my review. I would like to respond to their lies. I think it is interesting that the only places I have ever complained about have received similar issues. I was taken advantage of by Seattle Paint and Drywall and that is unacceptable. In fact, what they fail to mention is that I was in the hospital, in a coma, when they demanded payment from my family. Once I was removed from intensive care, I wrote a check, without seeing the completed project. Once I returned home, I discovered that the work was not done and I had to hire Queen Anne Painting to complete the job. This is the most dishonest company I have ever encountered. Interesting, the foremen they mentioned were their children and they were flaky and on drugs! In fact, a representative from the company, who was not a family member, told me about the excessive drug use in order to offer an explanation as to why the work was not done. I have since run into the step-father of these children who has verified this statement. As you can see from other reviews, I have been extremely fair and complimentary, except where I have had money stolen from me. In addition to the loss of several thousand dollars, I never received the coupon they offer on their website! That is called false advertising and you should make your customers aware of that.

This report, appearing almost six years after the finish of the job, is not all that surprising to us. If you were to read our responses to Angies List members we will always reply with respect and courtesy no matter if it's a good or bad report. We value all our members reports. It only helps to improve our services. In this case this was the most difficult person we have ever encountered. We attempted with three different foremans, three different crews, as well as communicating with her by three different senior owners to no avail. We could not come in any way to resolve her issues. After we completed her project to the absolute specification of the contract, and even beyond, we could not satisfy her continuing demands. To this day, we have not received full payment for the original contracted work in the amount of $1,500. We decided that it would be better to discontinue trying to meet her unreasonal expectations and "write-off" the balance owed. Please do not allow this report to discourage you from reading our many other "A" reports from very satisfied customers. This was an older Seattle home and we pride ourselves on making them look great, as you can read from other Angie's members reports. We greatly regret having to respond in this manner, but feel it is necessary to maintain our reputation.

We remodeled our kitchen, bathroom a& took out a wall to make a larger bedroom out of our two dinky standard rambler bedrooms. This meant that the work that we needed done was spread out over about a month and a half. Here a wall... there a room. Seattle Paint & Drywall were very responsive to our schedule and made it less of a headache to work around the other subcontractors' schedule. Everything came out great! They also did a great job fixing all the holes the electrician made! Once the siding that needs to be replaced is done, we'll be having the exterior painted.

This was a challenging project, working with schedules to finish this job. This client and her husband remained living in the house while this project was under construction. Aaron and his helper were late but they did call to let us know, which was appreciated. The project was to drywall over a small hole in the ceiling due to the need to access a water line and they took great care to protect the rest of the room by creating a "tent" to contain all of the mess they made. Aaron and his helper were very friendly and obviously skilled at working with drywall. They completed the job in the time specified and it was very well done. The final sanding and painting was done by by us

Great experience overall. Patrick came and gave us an estimate within 4 days of my first phone call and got back to me with an estimate in a few days. A start date was set up and everything was done within the promised time frame that I was given. Patrick responded within minutes when I had any questions. The workers were very professional and a pleasure to have in my home. They did an excellent job and were very concientious of taking care of furniture, glassware, etc. I would defiinitely use them again!

We are very familiar with type of work. It is very important to make sure that any water damage on the interior of walls is removed prior to putting everything back as is was. Make sure to removed all wet sheetrock and isolation and dry out completely before repairs are made. Sometimes its necessary to put a stain lock primer in the walls to ensure any mold from growing. Thanks for calling us and for your kind words.

The painter (I didn't get his name unfortunately) did an excellent job from the prep right down to the cleanup. We are very satisfied with the results. He started at 8:30 and was done by 2:00......very impressive! We would not hesitate to recommend this company and we will use them again when we're ready for more painting.
Description of Work: We saw a coupon on Angie's List for a painting special.....3 rooms for $539.00 with Seattle Paint and Drywall. We decided to go ahead with it and we're very glad we did! The painter arrived on the scheduled day at the time we agreed to. We thought this was to look over the area to be painted and to set up a time to do it. Instead, the painter was ready to go and promptly got to work. We were kind of surprised that only one painter showed up, but he knew exactly what needed to be done and went at it in a very efficient and professional manner.

I was having the work done to turn over my rental property in Seattle and had a few other things to be done so I needed the painting of the main rooms to be done on a certain day. Time was important since I live out of town. There was no problem scheduling the day but on the day they were to come do the painting - NO SHOW and NO CALL. I had to call them. They apologized and rescheduled but then they were there when another vendor was there but I had no choice. The painter originally said he didn't think I had enough paint so I told him to let me know if he needed more, he didn't. When I asked him later, he said it was enough. The paint was on so thin and when we took the tape off so went a stripe of paint. It took him about 5 and a half hours to paint, including his lunch so I estimated that I paid $100 an hour for painting - NOT A DEAL. I should have cancelled and got my money back when they didn't show, lesson learned.
Description of Work: I got the 3 room painting special for $560. Read the deal carefully which I didn't because I didn't note the 3 rooms special didn't include the ceilings, that cost more which to me is the most difficult part of painting.

I take full responsibility for missing the scheduled date to paint as the job was booked for a saturday and we had personnel issues that day. Customers are responsible to buy there own paint with the big deal coupon and I always advise getting quality paint. Cheaper paints will look thin and not cover as well so that would be why the customer thought it looked thin. I strongly urge customers to read all the details about Angies List's Big Deals as it does state in bold writing, ceilings not included in coupon. Please see all of our other Big Deal reports as they are all A's and very satisfied with the work we did.

We found SP&D on Angie's List and called them out to do an estimate. Patrick was able to come quickly, which was a refreshing change from some of the other companies we had also contacted for estimates. The estimate was reasonable ($13K) and Patrick was even willing to paint the soffits another color without increasing the bid. The painters power washed the house and then got started with scraping. They did a decent job scraping but I thought with the condition of the previous paint job they should have done more. They also missed some key areas for prep work- small holes that were not filled, foam that was simply painted over, etc. However, they did a pretty good job painting, and even called us while we were out of town to advise against a paint scheme decision we had originally chosen (and they were correct in their suggestion). They are not super detail oriented but the overall paint job looks nice (a few missed spots, a little paint on the windows, etc). At the same time, the carpenter was at work replacing rotten soffits, siding and decking, installing attic vents, etc. As we moved forward with the carpentry efforts, which were originally priced at $3-5K, there was definite scope creep that I can blame on myself. However, I expected Patrick as the foreman for the project to keep us up to date on approximately how much the overall price was growing, because even as we progressed with the project the carpenter assured us that we were not far off the original estimate. Instead, we were surprised by a $20K balance at the end of the project when we were expecting about $16K (again- I would have rated the company an "A" for price if they would have kept me as the customer in the loop as to how much the bill had increased before I was given a hard copy and asked to write a check). Next SP&D came to remove the storm windows, paint them and then re-hang them. They completed the job but it was embarrassingly unacceptable. There were fingerprints on the inside of the windows, windows had been hung crooked, and there were paint smudges on multiple windows. There was at least one problem with every single window. During our final walk through with Patrick we pointed out these issues and he agreed right away to fix them. The painters did come back to fix the storm windows, but they still were still not done correctly. There were still a multitude of issues that needed to be redone, including our monster of a picture window that I'm sure was a huge pain to remove and replace. Increasing my frustration, this was also when it became a lot harder to contact Patrick and set up a time for the touch-ups. We did eventually get in touch and they came to remove the big picture window and fix it one more time. We made final payment at this point even though our picture window storm window is still crooked, some of the touch-ups that the painters were supposed to make never got done and a light they had broken was never fixed (we figure we will just fix these ourselves). Overall we are happy with the painting results and very happy we have fixed some of the carpentry problems that were under the old paint job. However, my constructive criticism for SP&D would be the following: -Make sure the customer is aware when the price starts to increase by several thousand so that they are not surprised at the end with a very large bill (we were about $7K over) -Bring a notebook with you to write down what the customer is requesting. It is frustrating when only a percentage of the touch-ups agreed to are completed -Do not let your customer service go down towards the end of a project because that is our final impression of your company
Description of Work: Entire exterior of the house was painted including garage door, other doors, gutters, etc. We also chose to hire the carpenter (Mo) that SP&D works with to replace rotten siding, fascia, deck boards, soffits, etc before the house was painted.

We appreciate your business and enjoyed painting and restoring your home. My favorite houses to paint are the old Seattle homes because they have tons of character to them. In response to the report the customer did add a large amount of work to the initial estimate for the carpentry work, which was done at an hourly rate because the customer was unsure how much work they wanted to have done. I assumed because this was an hourly rate project and the customer continued to add to the job, the customer knew they had almost doubled the initial scope of the project therefore the price significantly grew larger.

It was very fast and painless for me, they did such a good job that when I look at it, it brings a smile to my face.
Description of Work: I called Seattle Paint and Drywall because they had a coupon offer, I felt many of the paint companies listed in Angies list were out of my price range. I had never used Angies list before but had tried to get someone off of Craigs list and was frankly not happy with the responses or lack of response I was getting. Seattle Paint and Drywall promptly gave me a bid on the rest of my house and had someone out to do it within the week. Two of their painters came out and worked two days finishing painting the interior of my house, I was very pleased with the quality of work that they did and they were very nice to deal with too. I would definitely recommend them to any of my friends.

The crew was professional, showed up on time every day and cleaned up after every job. They painted the whole exterior of the house including the deck. It took a while but that was completely our fault. We waited until September/Oct to get our house painted. My husband was sure he could do a touch up job he was on a ladder scraping for about 4 hours and gave up. He said every muscle in his body hurt. (I thought he was nuts for even trying). After we accepted the bid it rained and rained and rained. They came out and pressure washed the first week. Masked all the windows and scraped the existing chips. It rained again...for a week, so first decent day they came out and painted. Saul was the lead painter. He was VERY cool. I freaked out when the first coat was put on. It was purple, not the blue that I wanted. He said look we can change it if you want us to (my husband was about to kill me at this point) but he said wait until we get a second coat on and the trim. It will look very different. So I breathed and waited (it rained again and again). To make a long story short I love the color. He was right, it looks very different with the trim and when the second coat dried the color deepened. It turned out great. We had very little to no damage of any of our plants, yard, etc. No drips of paint anywhere. They did a great job. I would highly highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We needed our exterior painted, there was serious peeling on sides. Seattle Paint was one of the few places that bothered to call me back. Patrick came out and took a look and tested the paint (for lead) and gave us an estimate over email about a week later. The price was about what we thought it would be for a 2800 sq foot house.

We would have to admit this job had colors that even we were not sure it was going to look all that great. Yet after it was finished the color combination couldn't have been better, you were a delight to work with. And by the way you can put pictures of the house on this report I'm sure others would love to see the house as well. Thanks for taking time for this report.

Tim Fike did an excellent job getting the deck painting scheduled, and his guys did an excellent job redoing my deck. It looks almost new now, and it's an old deck! It had been refinished several times over the years, and the existing color was too red and did not look good adjacent to my home's paint color. I didn't think a stain would work to cover it, but Tim gave me some good suggestions to go and see deck stain colors available at a paint store. That was excellent advice as I learned there were many more colors than just the standard fan deck of stain colors I originally saw. I found the color I wanted, and the deck painting work was done efficiently and professionally. I waited a week for the deck stain to cure, and I'm amazed how my old deck now looks so good. I worried that my deck was too far gone to get results like this. One of the nicest things about SP&D was Tim's professional customer service and friendly demeanor. He was always polite on the phone, listened to my many questions and concerns, and gave me very good suggestions. He went the extra mile throughout. The results were better than I hoped for! It's rare to use a service company that is so customer oriented and I really appreciated it.
Description of Work: Pressure washed deck, scraped and sanded, then applied 2 coats deck stain paint on entire deck.

The overall quality of the job was poor. They did not use the type of paint as called for in the contract. They failed to cover several areas and some of the trim around our windows was not painted at all. When they were finished we discovered four broken ridgecap tiles on the roof which were not broken before their painters were up on the roof. We have had to have them come back three times to complete that they missed. I would never have them do work for me again nor would I recommend them to anyone else. In aperfect world I would have them come back and repaint our house acording to what they agreed to do in their contract. I suppose that is asking too much though.
Description of Work: The Co. was hired to paint the exterior and trim on our house. The paint was to be exterior grade satin latex, two coats backrolled .All areas in need of sanding and caulking to be included.

After pressure washing the home we did upgrade the paint we were going to use to a product that would last longer on the LP siding. I did have a conversation with the customer about the change. The customer did the final walk through and we returned to complete the touchup requsted. The customer was satisfied at that point. The customer called us back and had us do some touchup on the bottom of their garage door. There was some water damage to the LP siding on the home so we pointed this out to the customer and suggested they call a carpenter and have the damaged boards replaced. We were never made aware of any roof damage or unpainted areas until we read this comment. Our top priority is, of course, our customer 's satisfation, as we want you to love your new paint job. If you read many other comments on Angies List you will find that we always give great service to our customers.

Seattle Paint and Drywall did a nice job of prepping and painting both houses. This required sanding, stripping and priming where necessary. They also did a nice job washing the fence prior to staining. The initial wash didn't go so well and Tim had the workers do it again. The foreman was very helpful with stain suggestions and the fence turned out well. Both houses turned out well and they were willing to use the paint we requested. We preferred to use a higher quality paint to protect the wood. We had a change order mid-project when we decided we wanted the front door stripped and stained. It had been painted a deep blue, but it was beautiful wood and we wanted to restore that look. They willingly took on that project. The only problem was in rehanging the door. It didn't line up properly and would no longer lock reliably. They sent someone out to fix it and he did a satisfactory job, but it didn't last. We had to hire someone to come out and do a more thorough fix at a later date. All in all we were fairly happy with Seattle Paint and Drywall. They were very easy to contact and work with.
Description of Work: We had both our house, a large tudor with multiple levels, and my mother-in-law's house, a ranch style brick house, prepped and painted. In addition, we also had our wood fence washed and stained.

Thanks for your kind words member. You and your husband were great people to work for. I agree, both houses looked great when finished. We actually were called only a few weeks later by a close neighbor of yours from Angies List as well. We had him look at your two homes as an example of projects we had recently done. He saw them and hired us to do his home as well. He is just a couple reports after yours. Thanks again. Hope to be of service in the future.

We had approximately 10 bids. We chose Seattle P & D not only for their fair, mid-range bid but the pride that showed when Zakary explained his father's company. He now has his own crew as do his 2 other brothers. Zakary come on time both for the bid and the walk through prior to starting work. He wanted to make sure he had everything detailed out. On the day of the pressure washing he had a medical emergency. After a slight miscommunication the handoff to Tim and Patrick was smooth and on time as well. They followed the standards for working with lead painted houses during the preparation for painting. The crew that came out were on time, very professional and did excellent quality work. The carpentry that was done was excellent! Patrick showed up each day to make sure everything was running smoothly. Everyone was respectful and experienced. Chucky, the lead did a great job of supervising everything from the priming to the final walk through. The overall look of our house is spectacular! All our neighbors have said they love the "new" house!

It was a great pleasure to have worked with such a wonderful customer. We find real satisfaction when not only our Angies list members have a great experience but even the neighbors loved the job. This was a challenging home to paint due to its age, lead paint, and the repair needed to the siding, but it turned out fantastic. Thanks again Seattle Paint and Drywall.

At our 72 unit condo complex, we had several decks repaired late last fall; by the time they were ready to paint, the cold wet weather had set in. So we had to wait for several months before painting. Once we called Seattle P & D, they came out immediately to give a proposal; they recommended a pretreatment for the exposed plywood, since some mildew had grown. The time from bid to work was only a couple days, which was great for us. The workers were right on time, pleasant and easy to deal with, and really had a polished routine in their work. In a couple short days, the work was complete, looked great, and the grounds around the job were clean. We have used this company before, and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.
Description of Work: We had four deck exteriors that needed painting. As a preparation, some mildew had to be treated so the surfaces would take the paint well. Some of the decks were on the second and third floors, so some tall ladders were needed to reach.
