We moved into a 1912 craftsman house in Ballard. The master bedroom had grungy carpeted floors and after pulling back a corner we were exited to discover wood floors beneath. However, after pulling out all of the carpet, we were a bit dismayed to see that they were in pretty rough condition. We contacted several contractors and ended up going with Vasiliy & team to do the work based on his feedback and attention to detail (he asked some good design questions that the others hadn't considered). Honestly, the floors looked so bad before we started we weren't sure how the final product would turn out and thought that we might need to end up re-carpeting... However, the floors turned out looking much better than we expected and we love the vintage look of the original fir floors.

As the business owner and primary worker, Vasiliy Bagniy was the ultimate professional from day one. We got two quotes, and his was the lower price. We were impressed that he was able to give us a quote immediately after measuring the floor area, before he left the house. Vasiliy was always on time, and he and others on his team worked efficiently and made our floors just glow! They had been a white-washed pinkish color beforehand (trendy in the 1980's), and he suggested that we go with a neutral finish after sanding. He sanded and finished a small test area so we could see how it looked. At first we thought the color variations in the red oak were too bold, but we lived with the test area a couple days and decided to go for it. Vasiliy is an excellent communicator, and clearly wants to please his customers. He made sure the red oak that was selected to replace the carpet in the family room matched the color variations in the existing hardwood floors. He scheduled the finishing to occur at times when it was convenient for us to stay overnight at a motel, since we could not step on the floors until the next day. He protected other rooms in the house by going out of his way to hang airtight plastic coatings on all doorways and openings to other areas. And the cleanup was excellent -- there was no trace that he and his team had been here except for the beautiful floors! There was a complication on the project. I had a serious ski accident just before the third coat of finish was to be applied, and could not leave the house for about six weeks. Vasiliy sent me well wishes and patiently waited until we called him. When we did call, he fit us into his schedule very quickly. Now that the finishing is complete, we can soon begin to move furniture back into our family room. Our beautiful floors make us happy every time we walk in the door! It was a thoroughly pleasant experience working with Vasiliy and his team of professionals. I have already recommended NW Premium Hardwood Floors to others, and they will refinish the floors in our neighbor's house in June.

Vasiliy and his crew were amazing and adapted easily to changing circumstances as the job progressed. The demolition started off well with the quick removal of the carpeting. During the quoting process, Vasiliy had suggested that it might be necessary to remove a layer of particle board that was installed between the plywood subfloor and the carpeting. We had agreed that he would try to install the flooring over both sub layers, but once the layers were exposed the low quality of the particle board was a big concern. We decided that removing the particle board was the best course to take so it was added to the job. We ran into our next hurdle when the removal of the ceramic tile in the bathroom revealed serious deterioration of the plywood sub layer under the toilet and vanity. Vasiliy said that he could replace the subfloor and quickly made arrangements to get new materials. While his crew continued with demolition of other areas Vasiliy personally redid the bathroom subfloor. By the end of the day the demolition was complete and the crew left the work site clean. The next two days were spent with mostly a single worker laying the floor and Vasiliy and another worker stopping by to help. This guy was an incredibly hard worker and moved quickly all day long. He took the necessary time to tailor individual boards to fit around the irregular base of the rock fireplace until very little of the seam could be visible. Great craftsmanship. After the floor was laid, the two workers spent a lot of extra time vacuuming up the dust they created and walking every inch of the floor to clean up any marks. The floor was spectacular, beyond our expectations. One other thing to point out about Vasiliy is that he has a creative eye and is a problem solver. During the quoting process I was looking for brazilian teak. Vasiliy did some research that suggested that this wood wasn't as dimensionally stable as other choices and found peruvian olive as a viable alternative. We thought this wood was also great looking so we had him source it for us and arrange delivery to our house. He also convinced us that the direction of the boards would look better running in the direction perpendicular to our original preference, which turned out to be a great choice. He also came up with attractive solutions for blending the two stair sets into the adjacent level flooring, one that was to a large carpeted room and the other to an entryway that was laid with flagstone. The final tricky area was the transition to the tile utility room that had a mismatch of about 1/2". They made a custom threshold piece that was tapered to smooth blend up to the level of the tile with no mismatch. I can't say enough about their attention to detail and professionalism. You will not be sorry to have Vasiliy working on your job.

Vasiliy came to give a look at the job within a day of my calling him. He returned an estimate by email, and it was easily the most comprehensive and least expenses of the bids. The house is part of an estate for which I am executor, so making sure to get the best deal possible is important to my doing my job. There was another contractor involved, so I had to make sure certain other projects were completed before the flooring was done. Vasiliy and crew were flexible and ready. They scheduled exactly when we asked and hen they were going to be an hour late the first day, they called and let us know. They came in and moved the very heavy furniture nicely out of the way before beginning. Initially talking with Vasiliy about the job, I emphasized how important it was that the newly painted walls would not need repainting after the floors were done. His crew removed all baseboards before sanding and reattached them after the finishing was done. When we were able to walk on the floor and really look around (we don't live there) we were amazed at what a lovely job it was, and how dust-free everything seems. There is no evidence on the white walls that anything had been done to the floors. The old oak floors had nail holes filled, the large, ugly worn spots are magically gone and the rooms are restored to a satiny, pleasant warmth. The recoated and buffed floors also have restored vitality. Doors we had taken from their hinges to get furniture moved were nicely rehung. Vasiliy called to let us know when we could safely walk around on the refinished floor.

They did an excellent job and we are very pleased with the end result. Vasily was very flexible in meeting our scheduling needs and was always very responsive to our phone calls and questions. We decided to add stain at the last minute and Vasily was very helpful and showed us a variety of colors to choose from. He custom mixed a color to match our taste and got them stained the same day. His team was very efficient and worked long days to get everything done quickly. Our new floors look beautiful and we would recommend NW Premium Hardwood Floors to anyone interested in hardwood flooring repair, refinishing or other work.

Start to finish it was a good experience. I don't think they wasted even a minute of time. They did a great job and worked efficiently, quickly and kept surrounding areas clean. Visilly and his employees were pleasant and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone who needs their service. I would give them an A+. When I was unable to get a very heavy piece of furniture back in place, they agreed to come back and move it for me without charge. Their time is valuable, and this was very kind and generous of them.

Vassily and his team completed the refinish on our floors while we were on vacation. We returned to floors that were extremely well done and the house was very clean - barely any dust! Thank you for the very professional job done.

I am very pleased with the results! Visily and his co-worker worked hard and successfully to keep the dust contained. The sanding leveled out the cupping from the original installation years ago. They took care of the minor problem with the baseboard allowing the edge of one board to show. Pride of work showed!

We had a very pleasant experience, from the time of the estimate to the completion of the job. His quote was several hundred dollars less than the other quote we obtained. Vasiliy accommodated our request to change dates and also our request to work on the closets even though they were not included in the original estimate. I would highly recommend his services.

Vasiliy and crew did a fantastic job. They were all business, though kindly gave me their time for us to decide on the stain finish (we decided on a finish not in their catalog, and Vasiliy kindly let me substitute my own in at no extra charge, other than the normal additional cost for applying a stain. They did a fabulous job and everyone that looks at are impressed. Even the carpentry crew (Mike at NW Design Carpentry), who runs a top carpentry outfit NEEDED Vasiliey's contact info. Definitely request the Angie's list discount coupon- I forgot too, but it didn't matter because Vasiliey gave me a fantastic price (which was significantly below the other two estimates I previously obtained). I'd definitely go with these guys for a hardwood floor refinish. Oh- one other thing. My wife and I had changed our minds about the finish type several times immediately before the finish was applied, and Vasiliy was VERY kind and generous with me about that, and did the job to our wishes very very well. After meeting onsite with Vasiliy and agreeing on a price to do the project, Vasiliy and I scheduled the work a few weeks later. The work went very well and there were no issues. Vasiliy completed the project on budget and within a day.

I found Northwest Hardwood Floors here on Angie's list, called Vasiliy for an estimate. He came out same day and started the work 2 weeks later. Vasiliy and his crew are professional, polite, and their attention to detail is second to none! I couldn't be happier with the HIGH quality of product and service. I would also like to add that their pricing is better than you will find anywhere else! I had 6 bids and no one even came close to the cost. I can't say enough about Vasiliy and his company. Hire them, you won't be disappointed!

Vasiliy bagniy was extremely professional and detailed. He was involved with all aspects of the job. His group cleaned up daily.

Recently purchased a rental house with original fir floors than had been much abused over the past 80 years. Since it's a rental, we were more concerned about durability than we were about getting every scratch and stain completely removed. A few bigger companies gave us bids, but they didn't quite get what we were after... and it was reflected in their price! But Vasiliy got it. His bid was literally half the price of the big guys. And it really reflected our priorities -- it included less time sanding, but added an extra coat of finish for added durability. The end result was just what we ordered. The floors look very nice, the job was done quickly and efficiently, and the price was as-quoted.

I knew I wanted my floors finished with OSMO, but I had a hard time finding someone who used it. There was a company specializing in that finish that I'd planned to use. I found out they were bought out by a larger company only when I received their estimate, which also quoted the job with polyurethane instead of OSMO, as I'd requested. So, I went looking for someone I could trust to do the job right. I found Northwest Hardwood Floors on Craig's List, looked them up on Angie's list and saw they had good comments. They listed OSMO as one of the finishes they used. Their estimate was considerably less and much more professional than the first place. They were very flexible and accommodating - willing to tear out carpets, move furniture, etc. A lot of other companies have a lengthy list of things they won't do, like remove doors. Not so with these guys. Once the carpet was torn out there were three areas that needed new boards woven in and the oak floor ended half way down the hall. There was linoleum glued down to the oak by the front door. I didn't think I'd be able to afford to have the hallway floor extended given the other repairs needed, but they gave me a very reasonable quote. All of the work was very well done. The finish is beautiful - very natural. I am extremely pleased with the work, the cost, and all of my interactions with them. The total cost with the additional repairs was hundreds less than the estimate from the other company without those repairs. I couldn't be happier.

He brought the floor back to life- it looks good! He kept in contact with us throughout the process. He showed us the small areas he couldn't fix and came back in the evening to do the Swedish finish so that other contractors could do their work. I am so grateful for his expertise and tenacity in working with a dreadful situation.
