Air conditioning on F-150 disappeared sometime between last fall and last week. Chaz at Edmonds Auto Services referred me to Pat because Chaz doesn't do a/c work. I brought the pickup into Pat early one morning, and discussed the problem, possible solutions, and pickup history with him. About two hours later Pat called to tell me the air conditioning was fixed, and the pickup was ready for me. His early tests indicated a possible blend door problem. A little more work indicated it was just possibly stuck, not broken. Pat got the blend door unstuck. He then removed the refrigerant and recharged the system adding two ounces of refrigerant. He retested the system and was done. I was lucky the problem wasn't worse. We had discussed some of the possibilities they could be expensive. As is, I ended up paying less than the lowest estimates of either Chaz or Pat.
Description of Work: Removed refrigerant from pickup air conditioning system, tested, and recharged system adding some refrigerant.

I have a 2008 Hummer H3 that I purchased last year that since then failed to start 3 times. The power to everything worked but, turning the key did nothing. The first time while in Florida, I was told it was the security board and it was replaced, as was the neutral switch another time while still under warranty . The last time,(this month) for the same reason, a dealership in Spokane replaced the starter, battery and battery cable- out of warranty cost $1500.00. Two weeks ago while driving back to Seattle from Spokane the windshield wipers quit. The AAA tech changed two relay switches around and the wipers worked but I couldn't get the key out of the ignition. When I attempted to leave, the wipers quit again and because that relay was the good one from the ignition switch control, I couldn't get the key out of the ignition again. The car was towed in the rain to my residence. In desperation, I called Josh at Car Stereo Plus in Mt. Vernon because they are really good with alot of elect problems, etc. I was referred to Larry at Lynwood Auto Electric (45yr experience) who Josh said was excellent at this kind of repair but, Larry said that he did not work on that year and make as he did not have the schematics. He referred me to Pat at Malloy Services ( 30 yrs experience) who Larry said was just as good as him. Pat kept the Hummer overnight and did a full diagnostic test on the Hummer. When I went to pick up the Hummer, he showed me some of the relays. Many of those were corroded, especially the one for the wipers many had dirt up inside indicating there had been water insided the box. He also showed me the lid on the box which was broken ( a customer that was at the shop having work done said that he works at an auto wrecking yard and the most looked for Hummer part is the relay box lid because of breakage). Pat said the wiper problem and possibly the starting problem were related to the corrosion on the relays caused by water and dirt being thrown by the radiator fan under the broken relay and fuse box cover. He cleaned the box and replaced the relays.I have not had one problem since! He certainly knows his stuff and is the nicest guy who also goes the extra mile to help. For example, rather than having me spend more money for another cover which just might break again, he jerry rigged holding the lid down with removable ties. Cleaver and it works great!
Description of Work: Diagnostic evaluation of the Hummer engine, elect.etc.Cleaned the relay, fuse box boardReplaced numerous relaysAttached the relay, fuse box lid

It was a disaster and still is. I am planning on taking them to small claims court. When my husband approached them regarding the incomplete stereo installation, Mr. Malloy said "I'll give you a hundred bucks" and be done with it. Needless to say we declined this as these are the "parts" that he was waiting on and we were initially told that only a certain type of part would fit. When I told him I wanted the car back despite the fact that it was incomplete, he would not release it back to me until I paid him in full - even though he had not completed the work that he had been paid for by my insurance company. He said "his boys" had to get paid first and that they would not let the car of their site. Bear in mind this was a $700 bill and the car was appraised prior to the incident at $35,000. I paid him and took it to another shop - it is going to cost me over $3500 just to fix what he screwed up and that does not include the replacement dash, door panel, bodywork and stereo. He also stated at one point that he did not need my "referrals" when I stated that was in a car club and would let others know about his quality. He stated he makes more money by taking junkers from Best Auto Parks in Lynnwood and fixing them up for them - then on a car like mine. I will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General's office, the insurance commisioner and the bbb as well as taking him to small claims court. I have been ill so I have not been able to deal with it until now.
Description of Work: In April 2010, I had a mishap in my classic car whereby 18 Volts was sent thru my entire electrical system. At the recommendation of Lynnwood Auto Electric, I went to Pat Malloy at Malloy Services in Lynnwood. This was an insurance claim on my collector insurance policy and so there was an adjuster involved as well. At the same time, I decided since they they much of the top end of the engine disassembled, that I would have them also replace my exhaust header gaskets. Starting with the insurance work, here is what went wrong: Malloy had the car from April until mid -August, almost five months. They stated there were "waiting on parts" - even though the insurance company had already paid them. They talked me into a replacement stereo that "looked stock", but it was very poor quality and to this day is missing key component promised. The cleanup that they charged to my insurance company, stated as "detailing" on the invoice for $125 dollars was a joke. The car was a filthy mess, and reeked of cigarette smoke - as if maybe one of their workers was a smoker and spent a lot of time in the car. Additionally, the powder from the fire extinguisher is still falling from the bottom of the underside of the dash and is clearly visible. Half of the gauge lights and the console lights are inoperable and do not work. In addition, the e-brake and the speedometer cables are so tight when they re-routed them through the firewall, that the speedo flutters now and the car was actually driving with the E-Brake ON until I was able to get it to another shop to have it fixed. The header gaskets that they said were copper and very high quality were cheap tin and leaked. I have these in my possession still. I had to paid almost $250 to remove and replace the gaskets that he put in with an acceptable replacement. The gaskets pulled off the car show signs of leakage, plus 2 header bolts were missing from the block, which indicates that they were not torqued properly when installed. Wires were left hanging in the engine compartment against the hot areas of the engine, making them susceptible to a fire or shorting out again. This cost me over $100 to just separate and adjust these wires. The radio installation was never complete, the sound quality is awful and when I took the faceplate off, I noticed that they had cut into my dash. Being a classic car, this means I will need to seek out a new dash for the car. The essentially "hogged" a larger whole were the radio was and used a filler tape to try and cover it up. There was exterior body damage done to the vehicle after being at their shop, door dings etc.. Loose wires were left in the area where your feet belong in the front on both sides. When they took the door panels apart, they did not reinstall them correctly and things are loose and one screw is almost punching a whole in the fabric of the door panel.

This was settled in court and customer promised to remove negative reviews. She got what she agreed to in court but failed to keep her end. I regret that Angie's List won't make this right either....
