CarlaRae Arneson is an experienced professional home organizer and owner of Loose Ends - Home Management Consulting. Over 10 years ago, CarlaRae established Loose Ends as a resource for families and individuals who want to transform their homes and restore much needed order in their lives. It is her passion and goal to help her clients attain the freedom of simplicity through basic organizing strategies and time management principals. She specializes in clutter control, time management, paper piles, bill pay and incoming mail, downsizing, photo and memorabilia organization, closet design, packing and moving, to-do list management, therapy for hoarders and packrats, garages, kitchens, kids rooms... the list goes on and on! CarlaRae's approach is practical and custom fit for all types of people. She offers a unique service in providing what her clients need the most: hands-on help with deciding what to keep, where to keep it, and how to keep it that way. For do-it-yourselfers, she can also do comprehensive walk-through consultations to offer fresh ideas to simplify all areas of the home.

Carlarae helped me dig through my garage which had become a war zone of excess stuff that had just been piled up. She was wonderful in helping me start at one end and go through everything methodically while separating things into toss, donate, sell and keep piles. She took the things I was donating to the donation site for me which was a huge help and time saver as well as some of the excess trash. I am going to have her come back in a couple of weeks to tackle the "storage" room in my house. She is positive, upbeat, non-judgmental and very encouraging. I am no longer embarrassed to have my garage door open!
Description of Work: Carlarae helped me sort through everything in the garage and create piles of trash, donate, sell and keep. She hauled the donation items to the donation site for me and brought back a receipt. She then helped me organize like items and put them on the shelves. She also helped me install hooks to hang the skis and snowboard which opened up some much needed space.

CarlaRae is the BEST! She is also working with a friend of mine. She is so calm and works so quickly. She keeps us focused and has made such a difference in our lives. I was scared to have her come into my (disgusting) home, but she is totally non-judgmental and professional. She is a joy to work with. I also have the added challenge of having a husband with severe memory loss who can be difficult to deal with, but she gets along great with him. I quit counting at 50 hours, but I think we may now be over 100 hours. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel as we are getting down to the last couple of areas. CarlaRae is also an extremely hard worker and always cheerful and positive. I can't thank her enough. It is so nice now to know where everything is. For over 10 years, I didn't have a clue. She has also helped us set systems so we won't get to this point ever again.
Description of Work: CarlaRae works with me to go through everything in my house/garage and decide what I do/don't need. She then organizes what I do want to keep so that I can now find anything I want quickly (what a concept)! She has helped me sort and she takes all donations with her at the end of our session, leaving me with the garbage and recycling to deal with. Her hourly rate is $50.

CarlaRae helped smooth out the bumps of daily living. Before CarlaRae I can remember rocking my newborn and seething with anger as I surveyed the incredible mess all around me. I felt totally overwhelmed by all there was to do. It felt like it was me against the kids and the hubby. CarlaRae didn't impose a rigid system on me. She listened as we discussed the problems and she came up with solutions. Sometimes she was like a detective trying to figure out the root cause of the problem. CarlaRae has enormous empathy for moms. She doesn't strive for perfection and that has been a great gift. She's also great a problem-solving issues about kids and cleaning up. Our home doesn't look like a magazine layout but it's comfortable livable place for me and my family. This has been a life-changing experience for me. She brought the freedom of simplicity to our house and I am eternally grateful.
Description of Work: First CarlaRae toured the house and listened to my tale of woe and we came up with a plan. For me, that meant going through the house room-by-room, pile-by-pile and figuring out a place for everything. We met about 2x a month for a year -- yes it was that bad! First we tackled the laundry room, then the basement and set up storage. We worked on systems and new habits to help maintain the systems we devised. For example, we now have a calendar and file system for handling daily mail, to-do's and things we might do. She also talked through some time management snarls and home routines that needed help such as grocery and meal planning. She helped us figure out to rotate the children's clothing and toys. Now she come less frequently as I learn to maintain what we set up. She charged $35/hour.
