Really happy with the fence project, completed by City Wide Fence at my home. Replaced two sections of fence: one 10 ft., one 13 1/2 ft., one with gate, one with trellis & gate. Both 5 feet high, 4” x 4” galvanized wire grid (“hog wire”) trimmed in cedar, cedar posts-on-pipe uprights. Communication at all points was clear and timely. The estimator asked great questions that helped improve the design and resulted in a bid was much more detailed (but competitively priced) than other companies’. Crews showed up on time and did good work while here. Friendly but focused and seeming not to mind me asking occasional questions. They were respectful of property and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves each day.The transformation from a ratty old picket fence to the new hog-wire fence & trellis is dramatic, not just due to design differences but because of the quality of the new structure. The new fence is solidly constructed - tall without feeling like a fortress - with good attention to detail. I couldn’t be more pleased and would hire them again for any future fencing needs.

Had three quotes, went with City Wide: the most professional and very near the lowest. On-time for appraisal. I liked the thought process and they answered questions (replace versus update, dealing with insurance companies, problems of tricky location on a terraced yard.) Would considered them first if had to update fence. A little hiccup in scheduling was smoothed out.

City Wide did a fantastic job! They worked hard and completed the job on time and within budget, staying late to finish up so that our dogs could have their kennel back. Our new fence is beautiful! And they did a wonderful job cleaning up everything. We are very pleased.

We used this company 10+ years ago and had a great experience. This time, not so much. I told both the estimator and the crew that there was a sprinkler system and that pipes were very close to where we wanted the fence, that they would need to be very careful. I was assured that the crew would be careful. No one mentioned that Citywide Fence has worded its contract language so that it can weasel out of responsibility for breaking sprinkler pipes. There is no way that the crew could have been “careful.” My handyman has repaired 3 breaks that were caused by the crew, which was hand-digging the post holes. He is now trying to find the 4th break. Each time he repairs a break & the system pressurizes, we find another break further down the line. I’m $1200 into the repairs already, and who knows what the total will be when we finally find all of the breaks. It feels like these guys went out of their way to break every pipe that they got close to. A call to the company to ask for redress resulted in a statement that the contract releases them from all responsibility. The contract language is so vague that I never would have guessed that it could be applied to this situation. I was willing to chalk the 1st break, and maybe even the 2nd one, up to an honest accident... but 4+ breaks?? And NO acceptance of any responsibility? Unbelievable! I will never again use Citywide Fence Company of Lynnwood WA, and I will be shouting that news far & wide. Be advised.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Our contract was written by a construction attorney several years ago. The first paragraph of the General Conditions of our contract states in bold letters that "Any and all unmarked sprinkler lines broken by CWF shall be repaired by the arrangement and expense of the Customer". Our crews do the best they can with the information provided by the homeowner as to the location of the sprinkler lines. Unfortunately, sometimes sprinkler lines are hit.

Everything from scheduling the estimate, to the visit for the estimate to the fence installation went smoothly. They quickly answered questions, went out of their way to work with our scheduling needs, and they built a lovely fence. We greatly appreciated everyone’s professionalism, advice, responsiveness, and clean up after the fence was completed.

We are very pleased with City Wide Fence and would gladly work with them again. In fact, we were a little surprised about the high quality materials that City Wide uses. For example, we expected the 4x4 fence posts to measure 3.5" x 3.5" ( just like the standard 4x4's you would find at the big box hardware stores), but were pleasantly surprised to find that City Wide uses sturdy posts that actually measure a true 4" x 4". WOW! Other good points: work crews arrived on-time, exactly when they said they would arrive, they cleaned up after themselves, and I never witnessed anything other than highly professional behavior. There were a couple minor hiccups, which City Wide addressed promptly and professionally: the initial invoice included a charge for work that was not performed (we changed our minds and chose not to install some extra posts), but they deleted the charge just as soon as I called to ask about it; they accidentally broke our hose reel, but gave us a credit to make up for it. In my opinion, this type of professional accountability is exactly what every homeowner should want in a contractor. I would not hesitate to recommend City Wide to our family and friends (in fact, we have already recommended them!).

One crew came as scheduled to demolish the old fence and set the new posts. A second carpentry crew (led by CJ) came as scheduled a couple days later to build the fence. Both crews did a great job: they reviewed the details with me before doing the work and worked hard and finished the work as scheduled. And the new fence looks great!

I was able to schedule them to come to my house to provide an estimate within a few days from contacting them. They were punctual and professional while at my house. They said they would follow up with the estimate in an email within a day or two. I have yet to hear back from them 20 days later. I could have just slipped through the cracks, but since it's a competitive market, I moved on with another company.

They were very competitive on price. But the fence installation, there was very poor communication between the person that presented the bid and the people that came to do the installation and so the installation was not done well at all. And we had to have the owner come out to look at it and it was eventually fixed. The owner was responsive when we complained about what a poor job they had done the first time. The final product is fine and the price was very affordable. It was probably 60% what other people were quoting us to do the same work. We probably got what we paid for. The guy that came up with the plan should have communicated better with the people that did the installation, because there were a number of design problems in the installation that did not match with what we thought we were getting. Construction season in Seattle in the summer is insane, but they got to us as quickly as they could and again.
Description of Work: We had some fencing work done. We used City Wide Fence. They took down a property fence, one that was old and falling down. And then they put up a new wooden fence alongside of the property and a chain link fence along another part of the property.

The salesperson, Bryan, was very informative and confident and had good ideas and options for our fence. And the pricing is very straightforward, based on lineal feet (and material used). The installers were efficient – it was a two-separate-day process, first to pour the post foundations/interior poles and let it dry, then they come back to install the posts and fencing. They were efficient and the fence looks great and has withstood a windstorm already no problem. Note, the company was booking approximately three weeks out, which wasn’t ideal for us since our existing fence had collapsed into neighbor’s yard, but that turned out fine. Our main disapppointment was that they said they don't offer AL discounts.

We contacted them since they have good reviews and is a big company here. We had to wait over 2 weeks for someone to be able to do an estimate. The person was very professional, courteous and on-time. We had contacted 3 companies total for our fencing project and theirs was by far the most expensive- almost %40 more! They touted a post-on-pipe design which is stronger but I don't need the post to stand forever when my cedars rot in 15-20 years. I guess if you are in a windy area and want to pay %40 more for your fence, I think they'd probably do a great job.

I am SO PROUD of this fence. I had about 30' of nasty old chain link fence in the front of my house that included a sliding gate that didn't slide any more. In order to open and close it, it had to be lifted and pushed/pulled into place. I knew it needed to be repaired or replaced (I was leaning towards replacing it, with some modifications). I contacted 3 companies that I found here on Angie's List. One never called me back at all, another came out once but never provided me with an estimate. By the time City Wide came out to give an estimate, I was feeling a bit anxious. Nobody seemed to want this job! I knew it wasn't a great job; at the same time, I feel that companies would gain a lot of goodwill (and good reviews, and possibly future business) if they occasionally took the smaller jobs that they might not necessarily want. I thought I could tell initially that the person who came out wasn't any more excited about the job (and at that point I actually apologized that it wasn't bigger!), but he listened to what I had in mind, ASKED QUESTIONS and OFFERED SUGGESTIONS, and had me an initial quote by the next morning. (And in hindsight, I think he's just reserved by nature and my initial impressions were a result of my previous experiences with the two other companies.) After a few more days, a couple more questions from me and suggestions from him, I decided to go with wood for this job rather than chain link. He had told me about a job they'd done at another house that was very similar to what I wanted, and I drove by and my heart was set on it. After that, the process was painless--they scheduled me, they came out and installed it, they left. It was quite a bit more money than I initially planned to spend, but I am SO happy with it that I know it'll be worth it. It's high enough that we have quite a bit of privacy, but not so high as to resemble a fortress. The wood is thick and capped on top (i.e. not the regular cedar "dog ear" fencing, and the gate slides along the track with barely any effort on my end. We have gotten so many compliments on it and it's only been up two weeks. Hint--we probably saved quite a bit of money by staining/sealing it ourselves immediately after installation. I didn't think I could like the fence any more, but it looks even better with a coat of light stain/sealant. I really wish I could share pictures!
Description of Work: Removed old chain link fence. Installed 17' of 4' tall modified panel style wood fencing with 1 3'x4' walk gate and 1 16' slide gate, both with black square tube frames. Slide gate is on a V Track, pinch roller, double wheel.

Because we live in a planned housing development, we had to find a contractor that would build the new fence IAW an HOA approved design. The first contractor, Town & Country, told us they have set ways to build a fence, but said they could build our fence IAW with the HOA design specs. Turns out that T&C was having to re-do several fences in our development because they didn't build IAW with the design specs, and so they decided to not build our fence. We then contacted City Wide which had a high rating on Angie's List, BBB, and Consumer's Checkbook. Dealing with the salesman, Bryan, was like a breath of fresh air. He answered all our questions without becoming exasperated, and explained the rationale for the post-on-pipe construction in our area vs post in concrete. They only use permanent employees, so subs. Though his bid was about 25% higher than T&C, we felt we could trust this contractor. Issac was assigned as foreman for our project, with Robert as his helper. They arrived on time the first day as scheduled (1/6/15), tore down the old fence and set the new posts. The lot lines for the 2 houses on the west side of the fence don't line up with the lot lines for the 2 houses on the east side of the fence, resulting in 4 posts with triple connections. That meant that each panel could not be exactly 8 ft wide post to post per the HOA design. Issac kept measuring and figured out a plan so the remaining posts for the panels were spaced as evenly as possible. All of the other design and contract requirements were met, i.e., #1 wood dimensions for cedar top caps, rails, and vertical boards. It was evident that Issac takes great pride in his workmanship. Issac came back on time as scheduled on 1/8/15 and worked on the panels by himself past sundown. He and Robert came back on time as scheduled on 1/9/15 and finished the fence. Issac did a walk-through with all 4 of us neighbors together. The fence is so beautiful that I had Issac and Robert autograph my side of the fence since it is a well-built work of art! City Wide takes pride in their work and we are very pleased with the new fence.
Description of Work: Removed old 84 linear ft cedar backyard fence shared among 4 neighbors, installed new post-on-pipe treated cedar posts at triple fence connections and for each panel, installed fencing that conforms to an HOA design, and thoroughly cleaned the work site at the end of each day. Each of us equally shared the cost of the fence in proportion to the number of shared linear feet. $4380.51 is the total cost for all 4 homeowners together.

Our backyard fence was falling apart, and a small windstorm finally took down some sections. We looked into different contractors, and contacted City Wide for a bid. City Wide is a very professional company; we were impressed with their responsiveness, although we did have to wait more than a week for the sales rep to come and provide a bid (this is the reason for the "B" rating on punctuality; the rep did arrive a few minutes early the day of the bid appointment; other contractors were able to come by within three days). We received the formal bid the day after the rep came by. The bid was very professional and contained all the information we needed. However, it was the highest bid we received and as such we decided to use a different contractor. We wouldn't hesitate to contact City Wide again if the need arises.
