This project went very smoothly. Jaz came to our location and surveyed the project. He was knowledgeable and had a solution right away. Within a couple days he had provided a quote which was much better than the other two I received not just in price but in method also. His crew showed up about a week later and went to work. They tore the railroad ties out and replace them with the concrete block. No mess, no fuss just a completed project. I am very happy with the results and it is exactly what I wanted.

Jas and his crew were extremely hard and fast workers, working through horrible weather and took advantage of a short window of dry weather to lay the concrete. I would absolutely use them again and plan to invite them back to do my driveway next year.

After I contacted them via email, they sent me a canned response stating the following: "To make it easier and more efficient for our clients we have developed a new system for conducting estimates.What we need from you is address, measurements, photos, and videos of the job site. That way we can assess the project in advance and see if we are a good fit for one another!". When I sent them what they asked, I have never heard anything back. Not a professional way to work with your customers to say the least.

Jas responded to my request for a quote within a couple of days of my request.. My RV pad was built of RR ties 10 years ago and one wall was starting to bulge. He gave me a bid I could afford and within one week his crew showed up to start the work. They scrapped the 1/2' crush rock off the top of 2 1/2' rock and then removed the larger rock. They replaced 7 rotten ties and planted new deadheads to prevent future bulging on three walls. They replaced the larger rock first and then the 1/2" crushed rock. They machine tamped the rock bed for several hours. Everything was cleaned up after the job and it only took 2 days. We are very happy with their work.

Competitive price compared to other bids. We were most impressed with how knowledgeable Jas was with project & product options, including familiarity with local soils & drainage. After agreeing to go ahead with the project we waited until they could fit us in, about 6 weeks out. A Sunday night call asked if they could start the next morning and the crew & equipment were working Monday morning. Careful, thorough work. Project was completed in 4 days. We are very pleased with the finished product - especially the rockery wall. Would highly recommend & would work with this team again.

Jas and his crew were awesome! We submitted a request around the holidays and Jas responded immediately and set up an appointment with us. He took the time to listen to our needs and offered suggestions on what would work best for curb appeal and still give us what we were looking for. His crew arrived as stated, we're very professional and polite. They always made sure we were satisfied with the job and left the site clean and neat ( as best you can with a lawn remodel). As the wall was being constructed, a few stones were jutted out a bit and we asked them to adjust it. They immediately agreed and fixed the stones without any issues. When the job was complete, Jas gave us a few weeks to review the job before the final walk thru. He wanted us to be satisfied and make sure we did not need anything else adjusted. We have been very happy with final product and have received a fair number of compliments on the front yard from our neighbors!

I?m very glad that I went with A & J retaining walls. Jas and his crew made up for all the crappy contractors I?ve worked with throughout my life. I was repeatedly impressed with his work, attention to detail, and responsiveness to feedback. For my project I met with four contractors and received three bids. The bid from A & J came in right in the range of the others. The main reasons I decided to go with A & J were: I?ve seen a bunch of nice-looking retaining walls that they have done in my neighborhood A & J came recommended by past clients A & J had great Angie?s List recommendations I walked away with a good feeling after meeting with Jas for the first time A & J started the project on time and we were very happy with their work. There were a few instances, during the project, when I had feedback on things that I wanted changed/modified. Some of these were things that you could argue weren?t done wrong, but that I, nonetheless, wanted changed. I spoke to Jas about these changes, at first expecting a lot of pushback or talk of increasing costs, but Jas was very flexible and accommodating.A&J exceeded our expectations and made our yard and wall beyond what we imagined. We highly recommend A&J to anyone who needs quality work done. Jas is a good guy. I?d hire him again.

The project went very well. Jas and his workers were courteous and friendly. They got the work done quickly, the patio is absolutely fabulous! We are very happy with the work done. I will say the price may qualify as 'A', but it's just such an expensive project and I'm somewhat cheap, so I put 'B'. Jas's estimates were in line with others we obtained. And he worked with us to remove some portions of the scope to keep the cost lower. We had one hiccup regarding drainage. Our backyard appeared sloped one way, when it really was sloped another. In a panic (since work was progressing so quickly), we left a message with Jas in the evening and he came out the next morning. We talked it over and agreed to do a french drain at no extra charge. We were very happy with this and it solved the problem. I think it was a great show of customer service and really cemented our high regard for Jas. After the work was complete, there were a couple pavers that were cracked. After a few days, I was preparing to call Jas about it and went out to get a count of the cracked tiles. I couldn't find any and thought I was going nuts. It turned out that Jas's guys had already come out, found the cracked tiles and replaced them. I was very impressed (and happy).

A&J Retaining Walls was fantastic! The provided a great service at a reasonable cost. Removal and replacement of a total of about 65 feet of retaining wall (height <4 feet) and built new stairs (10 steps). When my existing retaining wall started failing, I solicited bids from 3 companies. Two chose to bid and one declined. The two quotes came in very close in terms of price, but there were some key differences aside from price. The biggest was that A&J responded promptly to all of my messages. In addition, Jas took time to educate me on the permitting process and pointed out a number of things to watch out for. A&J actually started the work a few days ahead of schedule when one of their other jobs finished early. The crew that worked on my job were all pleasant and professional. A&J finished the work on schedule and on budget. All of this was very positive, but there's more! A&J did a few little things that went above and beyond. For instance, I had three hostas that were close to the old retaining wall. I figured that they would not survive the construction of the new wall and was OK with that. However, when I came home one day during the construction process, I noticed that the hostas had been dug up and transplanted to another part of my yard! Wow! And when the new wall was complete, they moved the hostas back to their original location! Part way through the construction process, I asked Jas if they could put low voltage lighting through the side walls of the steps. He said they could and confirmed where I wanted the wires located. They cut a small channel in the blocks and ran the wires through in a very inconspicuous way. Another Wow! Jas was very good about keeping me posted on progress and always returned my calls promptly. I would definitely recommend A&J to others; in fact, a couple of my neighbors have already asked me for their contact info.

Jas and his crew were wonderful to work with. Jas helped me with a lot of ideas that I never would have thought of. He is truly a professional and is very, very nice to deal with. I will definitely use their services again and highly recommend them.

Jaswinder was very polite when bidding, but he was busy. He agree to agreed to call back, when he expected an opening (about 6 weeks). We agreed I would send deposit after he called back and gave a firm date. He never called or emailed back. Contacted him six weeks later. He asked about deposit first, then agreed to do the work asap for more money and less scope.

We are so very pleased with how the work was performed and the finished product! Jas was wonderful to work with and very patient as we went back and forth to ensure that we were happy with the plan for the project and the finished results. He is incredibly responsive and worked with us throughout the entire process. We will certainly be enjoying our new yard for many years to come. We strongly recommend A&J!

They did good work. The project took a lot longer than it probably could have, but I thought that the contractor worked well with me because we did have some issues that came up.

Jas was punctual and very easy to communicate with both times he came out to provide bids. We have a very large failing retaining wall and he asked great questions for me to relay to the engineers. He broke down his bids in an understandable format. We ended up going with another contractor who provided a lower bid and I have huge regrets. We are 3 months into the project and the contractor rarely shows up. It's now the rainy season and I have a huge pile of mud in my yard and no wall. I wish every day that we had hired Jas to do the work. Sigh.

Jas is the best. this is our second time hiring them for backyard remodel and slope leveling. the retaining wall is beautiful as well as the pavers. I think we had one of his teams the first time and the 2nd time another crew. both teams were excellent and real craftmen. They work hard and do not cut any corners. The estimate was right on. Both projects ended exactly as predicted. Jas listens to your plan and carries it out to perfection. I can't say enough good things about them. Now, I have a level yard to plant my raised beds, my front yard fruit tree orchard and vine trellis are ready to go. I highly recommend this company to make your landscaping dream come true. A & J bulid two retaining walls for us. One was over 100 feet long, and 4 feet high. I am a very picky person. I have high expectations and this company exceeded my expectations. The crew showed up not only ontime, but they started earlier than expected. Jas was both professional and communicated in a timely manner. The crew was friendly, hard working and the quality of work seems wonderful. I will update my review after I have had the wall for a while, since they just finished yesterday. They not only picked up their mess, but they also picked up othe things in the yard, and this is a construction site. I can not say enough good things about this company, professional, honest, VERY hardworking. I would not hesitate to use them in the future. Thanks A & J!!!

Jaswinder was wonderful. I immediately liked him when he came to bid the project he wasn't pushy--but helped me decide what to do. I liked his style!. When the work started, they did a great job in a jiffy! His workers were pleasant and very hard working. My grasscrete driveway looks fabulous!

The company is really busy and my work and schedule made it difficult to fit my small job in. Once A & J were on site they were terrific. They listened and adjusted as work around my small lot and old home required adjustments. They are very good problem solvers. The job turned out to be easier than they expected and the bill was lowered ~10%. When I can afford it, I would like to work with them again. I see lots of poorly installed walls and I think getting professionals who specialize in this line of work are well worth the money.

Our experience was great. We had a retaining wall in our alley that started to give out after a big rainstorm. They came by to quote the job the same day I called and had a competitive price compared with two other bids. They were able to keep cost down by offering the same materials that the wall was built with - they also were able to do the repair work for our fence, which wasnt needed but would have saved us having to hire someone else to fix it if needed. They had originally quoted that they were 2 weeks out, but ended up squeezing us in within a week which was great as we were able to complete the repairs before the next rainfall. What is funny is we did all this via email and over the phone - they got to us so quick we didnt even see them! But they did a quality job and when we can afford to replace more of the wall will definitely give the a call.

I've hired Jaswinder and his crew before, and have been impressed with the quality of their work. They are punctual, professional, and very easy to work with. So when my neighbors and I decided to go halfsies on a fence for the back yard (I have a 1 year old, they have a hunting dog - and the fence was crumbling) I gave A&J Retaining Walls Co. a call. During the consultation Jas was very straightforward when I asked about the cost of cedar vs. pressure treated wood, priced out various other projects we needed done in the yard (the french drain, the gravel, etc.), He was also flexible when it came to scheduling around my neighbor's vacation, accepting payment from each of us, etc. I would (and eventually will be for the fence on the other side of the yard) hire him again.

We had a nasty looking sloping hill in our back yard and wanted for years to build a tiered retaining wall. Jaswinder came out and gave me a bid on the job. He was prompt in his response and I just had a great impression of him from the beginning. He is a busy guy so we had to wait a few weeks for them to start but once they did they were done in 2 days! it is beautiful and I was completely awe inspired by how fast they worked and how level and great the walls look. They took great care of my yard and I had a tree I didn't want disturbed and they worked around it with great care. The guys were so nice and very tidy and professional. Job went well. A & J Retaining Walls Co was professional in all aspects and easy to work with. We changed our minds on how the wall was to be constructed after the initial cost proposal was submitted, but it wasn't a problem to modify our request and come to an equitable cost adjustment. At the onset, we didn't have a firm idea on how to tie the new wall into an existing rock wall, but we discussed it with the Contractor as the job progressed and came to a decision without having to modify the proposal - A & J even brought in a few rocks to tie the walls together at no extra cost. We're very happy with the results.

I called, left a clear voicemail asking for a quote. They never called back. That is all.

Not only did A&J do a great job, they were on budget and ahead of schedule! They replaced our ugly gravel path with beautiful pavers. Everything is level now, and we don't have to spend time removing weeds from the gravel. So it looks great and is no-maintenance. They were thorough in assessing the job and explaining all details to us. I would definitely use them again.
