A-1 NW Partners Concrete Construction

.Tom was very fast in contacting me and giving me an estimate with an Angies list discount and seasonal discount. The 14 stairs go down middle of my rockery. My old stairs were 25 years old, starting to rot and were very slippery when wet. The new brushed concrete stairs are very nice and he added a light gray tint, so they don't look too white and blend with rockery. I had landscapers estimate putting paver stairs in, but the cost was similar and I realized they would also be slippery. A landscaper finally suggested that brushed concrete would be the safest. I am very happy with results and project was done within about one week, as we also had to wait for weather to settle down before pouring concrete.

Never returned calls or emails!

We are extremely pleased with Tom's work. He and his team were courteous, experienced, completed the work in a timely manner, explained everything they did, and answered all of our questions. The new driveway is beautiful and we have had compliments from numerous neighbors! Tom takes a lot of pride in his work and wanted to make sure that we were happy. When our cable line was accidentally severed Tom immediately sent someone out, on a weekend, to expose the line so that we could have Comcast fix it right away. When I first called Tom in August he came out virtually the next day to give me a bid. Because he is very busy and in demand he was not able to get to the work until November, but he kept in touch with me along the way and we are very glad that we waited for him. I highly recommend Tom, just know that if you'd like to have the work done in the summer you should call him well ahead of time.

Tom was quite punctual in coming to my home to survey the situation and outline a plan for dealing with the drainage problem as well as providing a new driveway. Within a couple of days he sent me a bid which I accepted having considered a couple of other bids from other Angie's List providers. Fortunately we got over the really freezing weather here in Seattle and Tom and crew were able to start the job in less than a week. The first day (Monday) the old driveway was broken up, the old concrete taken away, and gravel laid down as a sub-base. The next morning the men came and took care of the drainage (it turned out the drainage pipe was connected to a permanent drain that went around the house. Not only did they make the connections, but they also put in an access so that any future drainage problem can be taken care of.) They laid the rebar and covered the whole area with plastic because of the rain that was moving in. By Saturday the weather had cleared and was going to stay that way for a couple more days. I was amazed at the boom that was used to get the cement back to the garage. The men worked from about 9 till 4 to level, put in expansion lines, and do a brush finish. I am extremely pleased with the outcome. It was definitely a very professional job. The men worked very well together and were willing to answer any questions I had along the way. Tom also listened to my requests for small additions to the area covered and didn't even charge me for them. I hadn't planned on having this expense so close to the holidays, but the job couldn't have turned out better. I'm most willing to give Tom and crew an A+ and would highly recommend them to anyone needing such work done.

Project went really well. Tom was very quick to respond to all e-mails and phone calls. His pricing was competitive and his team did an exceptional job. I was worried that we would lose some of the vegetation that was growing along side the old stairs but his team were very careful to preserve the surrounding landscape and the end result was a beautiful stairs and the landscape remained intact. Additionally, Tom was very helpful in assisting with reinstalling the old railing and this saved me the expense of having a new one built. Tom was a pleasure to work with and I will certainly use him for my next concrete project.

Tom and his crew were punctual, very professional. I was kept in the loop on their progress at all times. A-1 removed the cottonwood tree roots that had destroyed my old driveway. They prepped the surface, installed reinforcing rods, and poured the concrete. This was a big job, I went with A-1 because of their good ratings. A-1 is not the least expensive option but their workmanship is worth every penny. I would hire them again when needed.

It looks fabulous. Tom answered all my questions and concerns. Had me look at a previous job so I could see what it would look like. His crew was punctual. Even early which is a plus. They cleaned up before they left the job site. Excellent experience.

I was searching for someone to cut my egress window in my basement. I called A-1 and left a message explaining my needs. I received a call back and message the next day from Tom letting me know that was not something he was able to do, but provided me with 2 referrals of good companies who could cut my concrete. I called the companies and they were both very qualified. I really appreciated the help from Tom as I had been unable to find a suitable concrete cutter for several months.

They communicated excellently. They did it on time and it was well done.

Called and left a message asking for a quote and left a return number. Never heard a word from them.

My only complaint about A-1 NW Partners Concrete is that the timing of responses was a bit slow. I can only believe that it was due to the business being extremely busy this time of year, and due to extenuating circumstances. The rest of the job was performed very well. Tom Smith, the owner, explained the process and options very well, listened well to my questions, and made sure that I was satisfied with any questions or concerns before proceeding. His crew was pleasant, professional, and left the area quite clean at the end of each day. I left the house open while I was at work so that they could use the restroom, and trusted them completely. They left virtually no trace in the house (such as footprints). As far as I can tell, the walkway was installed properly, and it looks much, much better than I had imagined it would. The entry to our house will be so much easier and so much safer now. It has taken me two years to even get contractors to bid on my job. I'm very pleased with the work that Tom and his crew did, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Besides, Tom is a good guy to talk with.

Tom was delightful to work with. He communicated well with us throughout the project when we had questions or concerns. His crew was great and one of his lead crew members, Reuben, has been working with him for 18 years, so they come with a great deal of experience, and their finishing work shows this. They always showed up on time for the work, and kept with the schedule we had planned on. Our job was a smallish job compared to others they had going but we never felt like we were 2nd fiddle. We showed Reuben a snapshot of the layout we had designed which was a picture of the ground outlined with blue tape. He was able to work from that and improve on it. The acid etched finish helped bring out the gray color we had chosen to go with and also made the texture feel great under bare feet. Overall we are extremely happy with how this project turned out, and really happy that we had gone with Tom to work with.

Although quite busy, Tom was able to fit time in to view my property and was helpful in answering the many questions I had. He did provide me with addresses to view his work and a list of references. We are planning on using him for our project, and I will try and update my review when the services are completed (if that can be done on Angie's List).

It went well. They were able to address my problem in a timely manner, no much wait time. They were on time, effecient, cleaned up any mess, and were polite.

I called Tom Smith, owner and left a message about getting an estimate on fixing our leaning concrete driveway wall. He returned our message a couple of days later and came out to take a look at it. We were not there when he came to look at it, but called us the next day with his assessment of our wall repair. We were pleased and impressed with his candor. He explained clearly what he thought we should do or not do and suggested we call another business about a follow-up assessment. His honesty and explanation put our minds at ease about how we would handle the repair. We also asked Tom if we could call him if we had any more follow-up questions concerning our wall. Tom was very professional and honest and we very much appreciated his input. Though he offered only advice at this time I would definitely use his services in the future.

The job went as we had hoped for. The acid etch finish turned out beautiful and we have since then received multiple compliments for the additions. Tom and his team were really easy to work with and definitely paid attention to all details. We are hoping to be able to work with them again next year to redo our driveway. We highly recommend them!

Tom with A1-NW was a pleasure to deal with. I got several bids before moving forward on the project, and Tom was the most knowledgeable, professional, and personable of the group. His bid was also competitive, and he worked with me on options to get the price down into the range I could afford for the project. Tom was always reachable on his cell phone, and his employees were prompt and professional. Tom did exactly what he said he'd do for the price promised, and a year later, I'm more pleased with his work than I was when he completed it. I would use Tom again in a second and highly recommend him to others for any concrete projects.

The bid I got from A-1 NW Partners Concrete Construction was for a little more than I wanted to spend. They were professional and prompt. I knew it wouldn't be cheap but I was expecting more like $2000, but $4000 was more than I could afford. I could see myself using them in the future.

Don't believe he ever called us back.

Once there was agreement on the need to fix and how to fix the wall Tom and his team were efficient in the removal of old concrete and the installation of new segments of the wall. The removal of old and the installation of new "panels" were done with very little disruption to the surrounding plantings. Every bit of old material was collected and removed. The new panels were constructed quickly with little inconvenience to homeowners. This is the second time we have used Tom for a concrete project and we have been very pleased with A-1NW Concrete Construction, Inc.

Called Tom about the job and spoke to him for about 20 minutes about doing a patio for me. I was initially quite impressed with his enthusiasm, knowledge, and willingness to make recommendations. He then said hes was very busy and would call the following week to come to my home for an estimate. Took my info-phone #, name, etc. and said I'd hear from him next week. Following week goes by, nothing, not a single call! I gave him the benefit of the doubt as he said he was very busy. Called several times, left a message. It's like he's a ghost all of a sudden. No replies, nothing! I'd have nothing but good things to say about him if he would have just been considerate enough to just tell me he's too busy, has bigger fish to fry, etc. No prob, I'm pretty easy going. Ultimately was a big waste of my time. He may do quality work as he claims, but unfortunately, he doesn't seem to care much about responding to potential clients. I see in past review he's been accused of being unresponsive and bad business practices, he's written a response with some excuse of why he didn't respond or says he did but had "email problems", claiming he did give a bid when customer says in review he never got one, etc. I think there is a pattern with this guy! It's too bad, because I really had high hopes after speaking with him. He seemed like a nice guy, can talk the talk, but apparently can't make a phone call! I decided to go with another contractor who is very "on the ball" and willing to practice customer service.

Tom arrived punctually for the appointment to look at the job. His assessment of what needed to be done to fix the problems matched ours. He submitted a bid that met our budget and expectations. We accepted his bid and the job was scheduled to be completed in three days: tear-out and forms set-up; pour and finish; and forms removal. His crew arrived on the scheduled day and time and disrupted our property as little as possible. We elected to keep the concrete pieces for another project and let the crew know where to put it. We had to leave for an appointment and when we returned the forms were done and the placement of rebar exceeded our expectations. Tom had identified the reasons our old sidewalk and porch slab had suffered failures and proactively planned how to avoid a recurrence. Oh--we all had a surprise during removal. At the location of a large crack and upheaval a small bees nest was discovered. That had to be neutralized before they could finish removal but it didn't slow them down much! At the end of the day we noticed that all debris had been cleaned up and were very surprised and pleased that they had stacked the concrete pieces neatly where designated on our property. The crew returned on the second day to pour and finish the concrete. What impressed us was the attention to detail exhibited by the entire crew during the finishing process. Late in the afternoon when we looked at it we were so pleased with the outcome. We had a small corner railing which they had carefully preserved during the removal process and meticulously replaced, even assuring that it was level. The way our old concrete had been laid caused problems with puddles in the past, and Tom's crew worked hard to make sure there would be no places for water to accumulate. They even made the walkway where it joins the sidewalk slant slightly to make a seamless join. In addition, where the steps met the sloping driveway they designed the last step on a widened pad and matched it's slope to the driveway so as to eliminate any place to catch a foot when exiting our vehicle. They came back this morning and tore out the forms. What impressed me when I came home from work is that they brought a bag of compost and put dirt in the crack between the sidewalk and grass. There was absolutely nothing for us to clean up after they were gone. I would hire this crew again in a heartbeat and will be recommending them to all my friends, relatives, and co-workers! It is so rare to find people who are passionate about their work and pay attention to the details. We will eventually have to replace the concrete parking slab in front of the garage, and this company will be the first we call for a bid (and maybe the only one!).

Everything went great from the initial phone call for the estimate to the final product. Tom came right out for an estimate, he had lots of ideas on things we could do to make the patio look as nice as possible. I received several estimates before making my decision, not only did I like Tom the best, his price was also the best for the work he was performing.

Based on Tom's advise, I was able to find a concrete sealer remover product and finally convince, after two months and a few falls, my contractor, JIREH Construction, to remove the sealer. Additionally, Tom provided advise on my consumer rights and agencies who could provide assistance on getting satisfaction from my contractor. Finally, Tom has shown a interest and willingness to maintain contact with me until all my issues are resolved
