Description of Work: The owner came out to look at my old concrete walkway and was very honest is saying he would not recommend such a small area to pour new concrete as the cost would be so high just to get the truck out. He suggested using tile or other method which I thought was fantastic that he didn't push his services if it wasn't the best solution.

They were flexible and met my tight schedule for project completion. Tom even noticed a portion of my curb that was damaged sand used leftover concrete to repair it at no additional cost. He said he believes in karma! All in all, great experience.

Description of Work: Came by for a visual inspection and discussion. Promised a bid later that week, but do not follow up. I called a second time and was promised (he said they were too busy) a bid later the following week. Never heard from them again. I really didn't think people like this were still in business. Simply unacceptable.

+ 0 moreOur existing 30-year old concrete driveway was badly damaged by roots from my nearby oak tree. I got bids from three concrete contractors to replace the driveway. Tom's bid was the lowest cost of the three, and he also was the most communicative regarding the process, including the specific steps he takes to avoid damage or messes to adjacent lawn & garden beds and the city sidewalk & street. It's a fairly short, flat driveway (about 560 square feet). The crew showed up at the agreed time Monday morning and demolished & removed the old driveway the first day. This included removing several tree roots that had undermined and destroyed the driveway. Tuesday they built the forms and installed the rebar. (The original driveway installed by the homebuilder did not have rebar.) Due to threatening weather, they waited till Friday to pour & finish the concrete. They returned Saturday to do the final wash. The following Wednesday I'm driving on it. The result is a beautiful driveway with an exposed pea-gravel aggregate surface. Neighbors comment on how nice it looks. Just talking to Tom it is obvious he is very passionate about his work and his attention to detail. He and his crew did a real nice job of cleaning up after the project, and left no mess. I am very happy with the whole process, and the result.

+ 0 moreTom and his crew demolished an exterior concrete stair to basement, excavated for a new crawlspace, and poured a new foundation for a 630 square foot addition onto our house. They also built a new concrete stair to the existing basement. Work included a lot of excavation, which I believe they sub-contracted out. Our lot is fairly steep, with alley access, and they did a good job of working with the slope. I was happy with the price and the quality of the work. Tom's crew met with our framers to coordinate, and our framers thought they did excellent work. It took slightly more time and cost slightly more than expected, but there was more excavation than expected. Overall, I was very happy and would use them again.

His team was prompt, efficient and professional. The job was completely done within three days and looks great. Tom is fair, friendly and knows what he is doing. We would definitely recommend him to others.
Description of Work: We had A-1 pour concrete in the backyard by the alley so that we could park three cars there. They also poured a concrete pathway across the backyard from the driveway to the patio and redid the concrete in front of the garage.

Description of Work: UPDATE: Tom had a death in the family and didn't have our info with him to cancel the estimate appointment. He has since called & came by for an estimate this morning, and profusely apologized. I've asked Angie's List to remove this review, but thought I should update it in the interim! ________________________________________________________ I talked to Tom over the phone and laid out my plans, and he was absolutely fantastic to talk to, seemed really flexible and I got really excited about meeting with him. We set up a 7am on-site estimate so he could meet with both my husband and I, which required us to get up early, but it was fine, since I really wanted to meet with him. I stopped calling other companies after I talked to him since I was so excited. He didn't show, so I called him and left messages twice, and still haven't gotten a call back and have to start all over again finding someone. I'm not normally one to submit bad reviews unless something was awful, but usually I can tell if a contractor is going to flake, and Tom seemed really enthusiastic to take on the project. I got my hopes up and was really let down. I would consider using him if I found out what happened with the flakiness and got assurances that it wouldn't happen when the project was started. It's really a bummer too, since we have several future projects planned as well.

+ -1 moreMy suggestion would be to validate open availability in their workplan.prior to asking for an estimate. Prepare to negotiate withour project descriptions and estimates in writing.
Description of Work: We're collecting bids from concrete contractors to pour: a parking pad; a down-slope walkway incorporating a drainage system with a dry-well; some stairs; and a pad next to our house. They came out and walked the project, took measurements. They made some good suggestions and gave practical ideas. Professional and knowledgeable. We asked for drawings to be included with their estimate to make sure we were all clear about the work to be done. We couldn't seem to connect with them to get the drawings, and we didn't receive a written estimate either. However, they did call with a verbal-estimate which came in $3500 above other estimates. IF we had someone else do the drainage system, they would discount $2500, and they wouldn't be able to start until the end of August. They might be very good, but we'll never know.

+ 0 moreI met Tom Smith years ago on a construction site. I am a woodworker and meet other contractors on jobs working for clients. I have learned that Tom has the reputation of being the best and most reliable concrete contractor in Seattle. Since I have known about Tom and Northwest Partners I have referred him to other people. I have gotten very good feedback people who have hired them.
Description of Work: I built my woodworking shop and it required some very skilled concrete design and finishing. Tom set the forms with his crew and poured the footings and foundation stem walls. Then they poured the concrete slab/floor. Since I build cabinets and design furniture I needed a perfectly level and flat floor surface for my machinery and benches. Well, not only did they make sure that the floor was very straight and level but they smoothed the concrete to a gorgeous glass finish. Tom loves his work and takes tremendous pride in making everything come out just right. I spoke with other concrete guys and none of them were as enthused to work on my project or as knowledgeable as Tom. What really made me gain confidence in Toms ability was how he explained the process for providing a floor that will stay straight after years and not crack. He used several layers of gravel and sand to provide a stable base for my floor and then installed rebar and mesh for reinforcement.
