+ 0 moreDavid came out to do maintenance on my roof and gutters. He was here last year and did an excellent job of removing all the moss and crud from the roof, so this was mainly routine maintenance and moss treatment to prevent further problems. He also cleaned my gutters and, since most of them are leaf-guard, he washed them down so they are all white again! He also washed the skylight on my sun porch. He was right on time, worked hard and cleaned up any messes. He's worth the money and very nice to work with. Will definitely use him again and highly recommend him.

He communicated clearly when he would come, was punctual, did a great job, cleaned up after and was flexible (he trimmed some wysteria that was growing close to the roof while he was up there). He was also very thorough (e.g. he put screens for all the downspouts). I would strongly recommend him if you have a composite roof!

+ 0 moreMr. David Carnahan of DMC Roof Care, Edmonds, Wa specializes in cleaning asphalt roofs without using a pressure washer, be it high, low or inbetween a pressure setting, and quot; ... and who would really know what pressure was used if a pressure washer was usedand quot;, was my thought and one of the reasons, besides his excellent rep on Angie's List, as to why I invited him to bid. Dave's initial bid was a little high compared with a couple of other bids I had already received. However, he had included cleaning the gutters and following up the roof and gutter cleaning with a and quot;ground sweepingand quot; of all the debris from his onslaught. I advised that I was going to replace the gutters after the roof was cleaned and he need not consider cleaning the gutters and the and quot;ground sweepand quot; in his bid. Accordingly, Dave adjusted his bid reflecting what I needed done and achieved a more competitive position. I eventually awarded the job to Mr. David Carnahan of DMC Roof Care, not because he was the least expensive for the initial job, as he was not, by a few bucks. Dave got the job because he was prompt at every instance, from his initial response to the invitation to bid to showing up for work. During the experience, Dave had several good tips/suggestions pertinent to care of my roof, both the immediate situation and long term. His advice was more geared to the care of my roof and honesty to me. Yes, he is in business for a profit but through professional results and building and keeping a satisfied customer base long term rather than trying to exploiting the immediate issue for a short gain. Mr. Dave Carnahan of DMC Roof Care was professional, courteous and honest. He also got the moss off my roof without blowing off my asphalt shingles in the process. Would I choose Dave again? No, I would not ... as I did not leave him. I am still a customer of his on a roof maintenance program that is completely reasonable; tailored to what I want together with my roof, the trees, etc. and some flexibility for our weather here in the convergent zone ... all at a price that is very reasonable in the long run with everything considered. Dave simply is a professional who takes pride in his work and does an excellent job. He assessed the immediate situation and listens to what his customer wants/expects and then exceeds that. Specific to my initial job, not only is my roof free of moss, but he repaired some gutter glitches and down spout connections and cleaned the gutters swept up the debris even though he knew it would be only short term as I would soon be seeking new gutters. His reaction was that the gutters had to be in some order for the guys coming in to bid on that job and generally, he just did not want to leave the job without having some sense of a job, his job, well done. Good job Dave!
Description of Work: The roof of my 2400 sq ft split level home has a shallow pitch and was 1/2 to 2/3's covered with moss over the asphalt shingles. I wanted the moss off the roof and treated to r regrowth with no damage to the asphalt shingles by someone who was prompt, affective and reasonable. I did not need the gutters or down spouts cleaned or repaired or the debris cleaned up afterwards as after the roof was cleaned as I was then going to get the gutters repaired/replaced and finally the house washed, caulked and painted. I advised those invited to bid of the above so their bids would reflect only the services requested ... to give each an opportunity with minimal disparity due to assumed expectationsl.

+ -1 moreDavid called me a few days later with news that he had a schedule change and could fit us in a few days earlier. I was glad about that. I called my renter and he said he would be there. I could not be there so I asked my renter to please give me a report on David's work and how he felt the job went. I got a check to my renter to give David once the job was done. The day of the cleaning I got a call from David about the time I expected the job would be done and he said the roof was clean as well as the grounds and that it looked beautiful. He said we would NOT be needing yearly cleanings and not to expect needing one before about another 7 years since we did not have trees close to the roof, etc. David also commented on what a nice tenant we had. All in all, we are extremely pleased with our experience with DMC Roofing Services. David seemed very energetic, was very professional and took the time to fully explain his process to me. His price was $50-some less than the other company's. He showed up when he said he would. He called me when the job was done. And he told me that I would NOT need him every year. How many companies do that?? I appreciated his integrity and professionalism. I got an e-mail from my renter that David was awesome, did an excellent job and the grounds were completely clean. Description of Work: Our 2004 steep-roofed, large 2-story rental had quite a lot of moss on the roof that we wanted removed. I had done research as to the best method of ridding moss but most of what I found involved some type of pressure washing and that concerned my husband and myself since we did not want to risk damage to the roof. I wanted to get 2 estimates so I contacted via e-mail one company on Angie's List to get a quote, gave them the address of our rental, and asked what their process was. I also sent them a photo of the home when it was new to give them an idea of the size of job. They called me back promptly with a quote of $375 plus tax. They also explained their process which was to brush off the large chunks of debris and moss, blow it off with a backpack blower, apply a moss preventer to any moss that was left, as well as clean the gutters and grounds. They explained that they would not get in between the roof tiles/shingles or on moss that was not chunks, but rather, the moss preventer would kill the remaining moss, and the moss would turn colors as it began to die within a few weeks to months and be washed off in the rain. (They also mentioned having yearly treatments as well to avoid letting the moss get out of control.) It sounded reasonably good so I set a tentative appointment but their soonest appointment was about 2 weeks from then. I was disappointed that I couldn't get in sooner but still had them pencil me in. I then contacted David Carnahan @ DMC Roofing Services via e-mail shortly after contacting to the first one. He called me promptly, I believe that same day, and asked if he could call me the next day after taking a look at the home. My husband then questioned me about the first company's process where the moss would stay on the roof for a month or more as it was dying. Here it is - only mid-July. Do we really have to wait until maybe mid-Fall for the complete cycle of the moss dying and being washed off by the rain? I agreed with his concern so I called the first company back and asked them that question. They said they did not want to damage the roof so, yes, we would have to let the process take its course which would mean that the majority of the moss would remain on the house for several months, turning colors as it died, until being completely washed off. We both thought - well, that's pretty ugly not to mention, won't the gutters and grounds get filled with moss residue again and we'll have to clean that ourselves? David Carnahan called me back, as promised, and gave me a quote of $325, INCLUDING tax. I explained to him that our rental did not have mostly big chunks but rather a blanket of moss and we wanted that to be removed as well. He said that by the time he got done with it, there would be no moss on the roof. He said it would be like he gently brushed the entire roof with a toothbrush. He would also clean the gutters. He would then blow it all off and apply the chemical moss preventer in a line to each ridge on the roof which would be spread down the roof when it rained, thereby protecting the roof. Then he would thoroughly clean the grounds. (He also mentioned at that point that we could also have a yearly cleaning if we wanted to for about $150.) We liked his process better than the first company's so decided to go with him. I made the cleaning appointment with David for about a week later. He said it would take about 3-4 hours to clean the roof. I asked him if he had a partner and he said that he did it by himself. I then e-mailed the other company back and told them we went with another company.

+ -1 moreDavid returned my call for an estimate within a few hours and came out the same day to look at my roof. He called with a quote and let me know what his schedule was like due to all the rainy days we have had. He called on a Friday and said he would be out on Monday to do the work and arrived on schedule. David is a very thoughtful person and did a wonderful job cleaning and treating our roof for moss. He also cleaned my 3 skylights with the towels and cleaner I provided which was wonderful! We will call him in the future for maintenance of our roof and gutters since he hand removes the moss and does not use a pressure washer that harms the roof. David also gave our neighbor a quote and did his roof a few weeks later. We are both very happy with his work.

+ 0 moreA breath of fresh air! That is how I would describe my experience in working with David in order to get my roof and gutters cleaned. Contacting David was easy! There was NO phone tag or worse yet silence. He returned my call promptly, he listened to my needs and instead of blowing the job off as and quot;...too far to go to all the way out there to Duvall....and quot; (A SILLY phrase I hear more often than I care to!!) he outlined a plan where I would e-mail him pictures of my roof so he could give me an estimate. When I sent him the pictures he promptly replied, he thoroughly explained what the job would entail and what it would cost, we set a time and date to do the work. On the day of the work he arrived ON TIME!!, he cleaned my roof, gutters AND skylight in a timely manner and completely (no mess left for me to clean after he left!!). I will contact him the next time the roof and gutters need cleaning and I will recommed him to friends. THANK YOU DAVID!!

+ -1 moreDavid came the same day we called to give us an estimate, and we scheduled the work for later that week. Our roof, while only 6 years old, had a lot of needles and moss in several areas. David cleaned it by hand very carefully so as to not damage the composition shingles and blew all the loosened debris off. We gave him cleaner and rags, and he did a great job washing the outside of our skylights, which were dirty and had grown algae. We have Leaf Guard gutters, so they didn't need to be cleaned, but the outside of them had grown quite a bit of algae. David washed them by hand with the cleaner we wanted him to use. Everything looks great now, and he did a fine job cleaning up the mess blown off the roof. The cost was the same as the estimate he had given us. We asked him to look at our roof carefully, as we were not confident about the roofer we had had. He found some loose shingles just lying on the roof (evidently leftovers) and gave them to us, and reassured us that, as far as he could tell, the roof was solid and in good shape. We plan on using his services regularly in the future.
Description of Work: David cleaned all the moss and debris off our roof, washed our skylights, washed the faces of our gutters, and applied moss treatment for the future. He cleaned up afterwards.

+ 0 moreWe were in the process of refinancing our home when the bank told us we needed to have the thick accumulation of moss removed from our roof. Because the composite roofing was so old we were hesitant to have it pressure washed. I found David's company on Angie's list, describing removing the moss gently using brooms, air blower and vacuum. David came to give us and estimate, described his methods and was able to schedule our project within a few days. He did a great job, thoroughly cleaning the roof, removing some wire screen gutter guards (which had only served to hold more debris) from the second story back of the house and cleaning all of the gutters. He also told us what he thought of the general condition of the roof and gutters. He cleaned up throughly afterwards, vacuuming and raking up the fallen debris. I would highly recommend David for any roof or gutter cleaning.
Description of Work: Moss and debries removed from our 25 year old composite roof using brooms and vacuum/blower instead of high pressure water. Old non-functional mesh gutter covers removed. Gutters cleaned.

He came right out and looked at my roof, told me his price and said he would call when he was coming over. He called Sunday, said he would be out Wednesday. He was on time and cleaned my roof and gutters. He even helped fix a loose board on my gate! And, he swept up everything and even cleaned up things that weren't directly due to his work! He was awesome! My roof looks like new (it's 15 years old!)

He kept in touch with me during a run of rainy weather in March, and as soon as weather permitted he was here on 2 occasions in short succession to get the job done entirely to my satisfaction. He is personable, arrived on time for both sessions, cleaned up well when he was done. I could not have been more pleased with my experience with him.

+ -1 moreI selected David because of his excellent Angie's List ratings, and I'm glad I did. Everything was done as promised. The day I called David he came by the house to estimate the work, and called me back later that day with the estimate. He did not give me an exact date he could do the work, because of other jobs he was working on, plus the unpredictable weather, but said he would call me within 2 weeks. He called a few days later, saying he would start the job the next day, and he arrived the next day at the exact time he said he would. He came back a few days later as promised to finish the job (he said 2 PM, and he was there at exactly 2 PM). I had a chance to meet David that day, and it was obvious that he puts a lot of pride into his work. He was just a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. The roof was cleaned as promised, and he gave me advice on when it would be good to be done again.
Description of Work: David cleaned our entire roof and all the gutters. All the work was done by hand - no power washing.

+ 0 moreMy roof is approximately 15 years old, architectural-grade composition shingle. I had never had it cleaned, but the last two years have been conducive to moss growth, everywhere. I noticed how thick the moss was growing, especially on the north exposures, and was concerned that my roof may have been significantly damaged. I found DMC Roof Care here on Angie's List and had David come out and give an estimate. What a professional and friendly guy. I was impressed right off the bat. He was able to come out the next week to do the cleaning. David worked hard with attention to safety and detail. He's passionate about cleaning comp roofs, and it shows. He told me my roof is in excellent condition for its age, and I will get many more years out of it. David removes moss by hand - no damaging pressure washer. He then applied a moss retardant, cleaned out the gutters, and carefully cleaned up the fallen debris on the ground. There must be 50 pounds of moss and gunk in my yard waste bin now, and the roof looks new! I would recommend DMC Roof Care to my friends. David is the dental hygienist of roof cleaners!

+ -1 moreOh my goodness. I wish I could put exclamation points after all the rating categories. One of the requirements for closing on our folks' house was that the gutters be cleaned and the roof swept. Relying on the Angie's List rating, we called on very short notice on a rainy January day. Mr. Carnahan stopped by the house that afternoon, phoned with an estimate that evening and arranged to be there the next day. He is an extremely pleasant man who arrived promptly, went immediately to work, cleaned up afterwards and saw that we had the needed receipt by the evening. We made a brief inspection the next day and were totally satisifed with the work--and with the whole experience.
Description of Work: Mr. Carnahan cleaned the gutters and swept the roof of the house and a detached garage. He cleaned up and disposed of all the debris.

+ 0 moreWe have a tri-level house with deep gutters. The house is sited downwind of a stand of Douglas fir trees, so there is a substantial periodic accumulation of small branches, cones and lots of needles. David showed up right on time and was done in the 3 1/2 hours he estimated. He hand brushed the roof to remove the moss, dug out all the gutters, some of which hadn't been cleaned in three years and were really full of tree debris. He then cleaned up all the blown off debris around the house and left the premises neater than when he arrived. He even cleaned off the driveways which were full of needles and cones from the recent winds. The roof looks like new and has been treated with moss retardant as well. A nice job for a reasonable price, we will call him again.
