 + -1 moreMy wife and I hired Klickitat Planning and Design (KP&D), a single owner, general construction business outside of Lyle Washington in late 2016. The principal owner of KP&D, Ira Martin lives within 10 miles of the, to be built, cabin site. The build agreement was signed in the early winter of 2016 as a turn key project and Martin advised the owner verbally that he would complete the project by Nov. 2017. It is now 2020 and the 650 SF cabin is still not completed nor turn key. Items such as the Ikea kitchen were done in a very poor way, resulting in the owners having to hire another cabinet company to finish the work, damage was done to the wood floor that Martin to date has refused to repair, strange charges have shown up on the billing statements such a vinyl flooring (there are no vinyl floors in the cabin), no sub contractor toilet facilities were ever placed by Martin resulting in human feces being left near the cabin site, I could go on and on with this horrible experience with this general contractor, Martin, but I think you can get my drift of my 5 year experience with Martin and Klickitat Planning & Design, Lyle, Washington
Description of Work: A ~650 square foot cabin construction agreement was signed in 2016 for a single floor, part time cabin on 20 acres outside of Lyle, Washington. This is a turn key project by the owners as he has a full time job and lives 2.5 hours one way from the build site. An overall design plan was agreed to by Martin and the owners and a $10,000 deposit check was made to Martin. Martin did not start initial work until the summer of 2017 even though previous to the contract being signed, in writing, he "was lining up subcontractors" and would plow the access road in the winter".
