Description of Work: Applied asphalt overlay on existing asphalt driveway and to concrete parking area in front of garage. |Applied sealant to entire job. |Major Sticker Shock when the cost far exceeded the original bid, but prior to working, the owner explained that the original bid was for a bit of patching along with a total seal job. He said the entire driveway was going to need replacing in a couple of years. I'm glad I went ahead for the full meal deal.

We had used them at church and had been happy with them so we decided to go with them again. They were easy to work with. Our neighbors were difficult and they were able to maintain friendly relations with them. They did a good job.
Description of Work: They replaced a standard long driveway.

The experience was good. I went out and looked at it after it was done. The price was shared with the renter. This company came out and gave us a bid. They could do the job right away so we went ahead and did it. They set up the time to do the work with the tenant. They were there when they gave us the bid, finished the job and there were no complaints from the renter.
Description of Work: I used American Asphalt & Sealcoating to work on a driveway at a rental property.

I had an unpaved driveway which had deteriorated to the point that I had to have a tow truck come out to tow me out of my driveway. I got an estimate from Scott Schill of American Asphalt & Seal Coating to pave my drive up to the back of the house at 10 feet wide. I paid in full in advance with the understanding that I had a dire need to have the drive paved ASAP. This was in spring of 2010. He did not get out here and we ran into the rainy season which he said he couldn't pave until it stopped raining. Summer of 2011 came and I had to call sometimes daily to find out when he was coming out to pave. He would always apologize and give me a date certain. I would change my schedule and stay home... He never showed or called with an explanation. He finally showed late in the summer. He apologized and said that for having put me through such a horrible experience that he was going to extend the paving a few feet further than what I'd ordered originally. He did not GIVE me anything as he narrowed the 10 feet width that I wanted and spread it out to create a parking pad at the back of the house. In our original conversation for the estimate I told him that I am disabled with severe asthma and COPD. I have to have the garbage truck, oxygen delivery truck etc. come up the driveway so it would have to be sturdy enough to support those vehicles. He assured me that it would. On the day that he paved he told me that he felt very badly about the way he had treated me and promised to come back and seal coat the drive at his expense as compensation. I have not seen nor heard from Scott since he left my driveway that day.. The asphalt is very thin and has crumbled under the weight of my ordinary vehicle not to mention service vehicles such as the garbage truck. I called Scott at American Asphalt & Seal Coating on April 24th, 2013 to have him come out and look at my driveway. His secretary (Janelle) promised that he would call me right back. Today is May 06,2013 and I have not heard from Scott Schill.

This was a fairly substantial project. It was not just a little stubby driveway running twenty feet from the sidewalk to the garage. This was a couple hundred feet of driveway, plus two parking pads, and one larger parking lot, all on a hillside location. Other than a critical piece of equipment breaking down, the job went quite well. Even the breakdown didn't disrupt the project in any material fashion. Also, the prep work that went into this job was substantial, and very competently done. The actual paving was somewhat of an anticlimax. Furthermore, Scott has checked back a couple of times since then to verify the integrity of the job.
Description of Work: Scott came on site, evaluated the topography, made suggestions, and then helped lay out the project. Then his crew came in and did preliminary grading, compacting, and other preparation. Then we walked through the project and made a few minor changes in the plan. After those changes were made, the entire crew came and did the paving. When they left, they left the property clean and the project completed as intended. What more could a person ask?

The year before I had had a fly by night outfit install my driveway. At the very best it was substandard. American had to come in and tear out the old driveway and start from scratch with the new one. Their crew worked very hard for about 8 days until the job was completed. The crew looked scruffy but their work was great. I would hire them again if I needed this kind of work done.
Description of Work: American Asphalt and Sealcoating replaced my entire driveway.
