They had a professionally prepared pamphlet. Anthony Merand was the arborist who came out. They do have a $300 minimum. He really looked at and checked out the tree. He told me about the company and told me he would send me an itemized list of what it would cost and someone from the office would call with any questions. And they did follow-up. He told me that the it wasn't really a $300 job and asked if there was anything else I needed as he didn't feel comfortable with charging me $300. So I did appreciate that and you don't see that very often. It does appear that they do a wide range of services and if I need something done in the future I would certainly give them a call.

Excellent. Got here on time. Verified what I wanted done and then got to business. They were quick and cleaned up perfectly.
Description of Work: Superior trimmed my 8 foot hedge down to 4/12 feet. Did a wonderful job. Then they trimmed the sides. Cleaned up everything. They were on time and completed the work in great time. I was very, very satisfied with the work. They are easy to work with and great to communicate with.

I recently hired Superior NW Tree and Shrub Care to prune my fruit trees for the second year in a row. They have done a wonderful job of thinning out and shaping the 2 large cherry trees (these 2 trees had gotten really out of hand-- they started whipping them into shape last year and continued this year). They did normal pruning and maintenance on the 5 smaller fruit trees. Overall I have no complaints and would hire them again in a minute.

We needed to have trees cut down in yard, so called Superior NW Tree & Shrub Care on the recommendation of a neighbor. They had an excellent rating on Angie's list as well. We were quickly set up with an estimate appointment. Anthony came on time and listened to what we wanted done, then suggested we have work done on another tree which had some rot that we hadn't noticed. The estimate was a very fair price, so we accepted and a four-man crew came out 4 days later. Crew arrived on time, were professional from start to finish, and friendly to boot! Within 1.5 hours the job was finished - from cutting to clean-up. Everything had been done as requested and as quoted. Was contacted by company the next day to make sure all was satisfactory. We would definitely have Superior NW back any time we have need. This company seems to have it all together - great customer service, quality work, and fair pricing!
Description of Work: Cut down one 22' tall liburnum, which had grown pushing against wooden fence. Cut down two 8' tall vine maples which were growing too close to house (under eaves). Corrective pruning done on one 24' tall vine maple which had decay near base and some large broken limbs 12' from ground.

Superior NW Tree & Shrub Care comes out once a year to trim our various trees. They are professionals very reasonable they work with me on my budget; and they have even taken the time to educate me on the trees. They are really great; they make sure they clean up after. I will continue to use them and I would recommend them.

I called Superior NW Tree and Shrub care for an estimate on the work described. They were prompt in scheduling the appointment and in getting back to us with an estimate. Anthony was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and concerns about the work to be done. I also appreciated Gina's help in getting contractor's license and insurance information, as well as the proper permission forms needed from my neighbors to do the work. The crew arrived on time and were efficient and thorough. They were particularly attentive to my very large old rhodies, which were in need of some long overdue TLC. They were also helpful with information on what to look for in future that could indicate a need for further attention. Clean up was great, leaving the yard looking neater than before they arrived. I will use them again for any future work and will gladly recommend them to others.

The workers from Superior NW Tree and Shrub Care Company did excellent work. They completed all the work in two hours. They were the cheapest for the amount of work they did. They cleaned up after themselves. They took away all the chips with them so we didn’t have to worry about that. They were pretty quite; my husband didn’t notice that they were working in our yard. They were pretty efficient at what they did. The only issue that we had was that we had originally scheduled them to come out at eleven in the morning but they showed up at nine in the morning. It wasn’t a big deal because we were home anyway. I would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Superior NW Tree and Shrub Care Company about a week ago. They removed a tree from my back yard. They did stump grinding and also removed roots from the lawn.

Anthony and his crews are very knowledgeable and are always professional. Superior NW responds quickly whenever I call. Anthony is an ISA certified arborist, and it really shows in his work and depth of knowledge! Superior's work is always outstanding and resonably priced. In fact, we found Superior's rates to be lower than that of other companies who clearly don't know what they are doing! We highly recommend Superior NW!
Description of Work: Most recently, Superior NW came out to remove a large fir limb, which was hanging precariously over my raised garden bed. We have also used them in the past to reduce wind sails on our evergreens, remove unhealthy trees, and prune our ornamental trees and shrubs.

They were professional from the estimate to the cleanup. I appreciated that the estimator was not over-zealous in the amount of work she recommended, although she did want to do core samples on a number of trees, which not all arborists agree is necessary or healthy for the tree. The crew that came to do the work did a good job, and we'll be using them again.

They are very professional and honest. I highly value their integrity. They never gouge and charge very fair prices. They are much cheaper than most others, and again they will find not only the best way to do things, but they will watch the clients pocketbook as well. They have even done things for free. We had a licensed arborist come out to our home twice to look at our yard and they never sent us a bill. I would give them all A+'s!
Description of Work: Superior Northwest Tree & Shrub Care Incorporated comes out and does free evaluations as well as our tree and shrub care. Fairly well. One thing I wasn't happy about was that the crew showed up without an arborist (which they said they always had one on every team). They mentioned that the arborist had been injured on another job and was not able to come. That was understandable, but made me a little apprehensive about the job without the arborist there (the trees are a very important part of our property). Overall the job went well, but I did request they send another arborist out at a later date to check on the work. He found a number of things that needed tidying up, but no harm done, I was happy.
Description of Work: I had one of my 9 trees fall in a storm and decided to get the rest of the trees prepared for the next time we had another wind storm. I needed the trees thinned and pruned, and in one case (an old plum tree) some severe pruning to hopefully save it.

An estimator came out when needed to help plan the work. He was competent and very easy to work with. The crew showed up when expected and got right to work. Their foreman was exceptional (although a couple of his workers did slack a bit), he supervised all of their work and got them back from the truck when he found they'd missed several cleanup spots. He also consulted with us several times about details of the trimming and suggested good solutions to the issues. Our only complaints are that he couldn't watch everyone and a couple of his workers were less than careful where they stepped and did a poor job cleaning up (actually stuffing one branch into the gutter until the foreman saw it).

First off, scheduling with this company is at their convenience, not yours. They have people "in your area" on certain dates and you are to conform to this schedule. I ended up scheduling way out in order to choose a date and time (8-8:30am) that worked for me. However, the reminder call the day before said they would be coming at 1pm. I called back to remind them of the agreed upon time and they said that would be fine. I found this odd. My main complaint, however, is that I paid $400 for some major pruning on a cherry tree and in the end very little was pruned from this tree. In speaking to the crew chief, Matt, afterword, he said they shouldn't do more pruning due to the seasonal timing as it could damage the tree. Fine, but then I shouldn't be charged the full amount for a full pruning. The company manager chose not to call me to discuss the matter any further. The scheduler, Jodi, said he told her the work was done as stated and that was it.
Description of Work: On Sept 21, 2007. I had an arborist, RB, from Superior come to my home to give an estimate on pruning two trees and trimming a bamboo hedge. The arborist then sent me a quote via email with a detailed description of the pruning and trimming that would be done. The price seemed reasonable and I contacted the scheduler and set a date. The quote was $400 for corrective pruning on a large Cherry tree, $80 for trimming the bamboo hedge, and $85 for corrective pruning of a Thundercloud Plum. On Nov. 7, 2007 the work was performed. I would like to mention that when the work was started they began trimming a tree in my (east side) neighbors yard that was not part of the contract. Luckily, both my neighbor and I spotted them and took corrective action before too much damage was done. This tree was clearly not in my yard and not mentioned on the contract.

The arborist/estimator arrived as scheduled and we "cruised" the property. He examined each tree in question for basic health, good root stability, straight growth, bark, trunk and limb conformation. Instead of taking all the trees I had listed as risky, he indicated that they were all in good shape, with one exception, and proposed that instead of spending considerable money to drop them, it would be a benefit to all, except his commission, that is, me, my budget, the trees and animals that live in them, to prune and clear the dead wood. He emailed an estimate, I returned it with my approval, we established a schedule, the climbers arrived on schedule and accomplished the tasks as indicated in the estimate. I also decided that another tree needed to be dropped, and the job site supervisor negotiated a reasonable price for the added work and did it. A few days after completion, the bill, as negotiated, arrived via email, I confirmed receipt and sent a check. Job Done! Good Work!

They did an excellent job! First, the arborist came and spent lots of time with us in the yard, explaining what he was going to do. Then, he got all the permits that were needed. Finally, they did the job and he was very good at supervising the crew.

The crew arrived on schedule to do the work. They asked if the could access the neighbor's yards from my driveway which I agreed to. Where upon, they promptly drove their truck into our garden crushing several plants and the sprinkler system. 6 hours later we had the 5 to 10 foot sections of the neighbor's downed tree trunks in our yard, three smashed yard lights, a damaged sprinkler system, and tire ruts in the garden. AND they had not touched the trees we had hired them to remove. We were told they would return the next day to finish the job. The following day the crew returned and again used our garden to maneuver their truck. An hour later, the boss, Anthony, arrived to tell me now wanted to double the cost to $4600.00 to remove the trees in our yard. He then informed me the mess was not their responsibility and drove away. I paid the crew $40 to clean up the small branches so I could use my driveway. I have not heard from Superior since then.
Description of Work: In May, Superior's arborist, Tom, prepared an estimate of $2200.00 to remove 2 large alders, one big leaf maple, and four small firs from our yard. He also prepared estimates to do similar work in three neighboring yards. We agreed to the estimate and the work was scheduled for July. Tom came back in June to mark the trees to be removed. In July, Superior's office called to confirm the cost and the start date of the work.

Response from The Davey Tree Expert Company
SUPERIOR NW TREE HAS DONE NO WORK FOR THE MEMBER. HE PAID A CREW $40 CASH TO CHIP A PILE OF OLD BRUSH. TOM DID CONTRACT WORK WITH A NEIGHBOR OF THE MEMBER. TOM ARRANGED TO USE THE MEMBER’S DRIVEWAY TO FACILITATE THAT WORK WHICH WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE 2ND AND 3RD OF JULY. AS THE CREW WAS TURNING THE TRUCK THEY PARTIALLY RAN OVER A 12” SHRUB ALONG THE EDGE OF THE DRIVE. PART OF THE NEIGHBOR’S WORK OCCURRED IN AN UNDEVELOPED AREA BETWEEN THE PROPERTIES. BRUSH WAS BROUGHT DOWN A PATH FROM THIS AREA TO THE TRUCK. THREE LIGHTS ALONG THE PATH KEPT TANGLING IN THE BRUSH. THE CREW SAW TAGS ON THE MEMBER'S ALDERS AND CALLED ANTHONY WITH CONCERNS AS TO THE TREES’ CONDITION. HE INSPECTED THE TREES AND DEEMED THEM UNSAFE TO CLIMB. ANTHONY DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE MEMBER FOR OVER AN HOUR. HE EXPLAINED THAT A CRANE WOULD BE REQUIRED AND THAT SUPERIOR WOULD COVER THE EXTRA TIME COSTS IF THE MEMBER WOULD COVER THE CRANE. THIS WAS NOT AGREEABLE TO THE MEMBER SO ANTHONY ARRANGED TO VOID HIS CONTRACT. THEY INSPECTED THE LIGHTS AND SHRUB AND HE WAS TOLD OUR COMPANY WOULD COVER THE COST OF THE LIGHT REPAIR AND THE CREW WOULD REPLACE THE SHRUB. THE NEIGHBOR’S WORK WAS COMPLETED AND THE WOOD LEFT IN 16-18” ROUNDS. THE MEMBER CALLED TOM AND TOLD HIM THAT WE HAD TO MOVE THE WOOD. HE WAS TOLD THAT HIS NEIGHBOR WAS DEALING WITH THE WOOD AND IT WAS IN FACT TAKEN CARE OF SHORTLY THEREAFTER. WE HAVE HAD NO CONTACT FROM THE MEMBER SINCE JULY.

They originally came out and gave us a bid. When they came out to do the job they were on time, polite, hard working, and were responsive to our every request. They stuck to their bid. I would recommend them to anyone. I felt that they were worth every penny that we paid them.
Description of Work: A crew of 4 came out and topped and trimmed multiple huge Cypress trees as well as removed a large tree from the front yard. They also trimmed a major hedge around the yard. They had a wood chipper to get rid a lot of the branches and the tree trunk. Gave us some of the tree trunk in pieces that could be used in the wood burning fireplace.

Excellent. Anthony Moran is a certified arborist and the work he did on renovating the fir, cedar and fruit trees showed his expertise. He was timely and competitive in his estimate, showed up on time on the date the work was scheduled, had a sufficient crew to do the job efficiently and the equipment to chip the wood and clean up the debris afterward. In addition, he's a pleasant person to deal with.
Description of Work: My neighbor and I had a row of very old laurels removed along our joint 100' property line. We also had two small cedars removed and considerable renovation to other fir, cedar, and fruit trees.
