This refreshingly professional businessman went out of his way to do what he said he would. He was the first to respond to our Angie's List RFP and he was very clear about what he would do and how it would be accomplished. In the preparation for the project our difficult and litigious neighbor attempted to delay or stop the project in spite of the danger the two tall tress posed to her property and ours. Mr Matney produced a white paper on these hazardous tress and their danger that was ultimately shared with her attorney, the county and the Sheriff''s Office. Even when she attempted to stop the project on the day of (evidence case report MC Sheriff's Office) , Mr. Matney hung in there and got the job done. Of note, Mr. Matney was to undergo knee surgery in three days so he completed this project in less than 100% physical condition. He went above and beyond to finish the project and as a result we are very lucky to have found him!
Description of Work: Mr. Matney took down two hazardous 100+ ft tall trees and two other trees on our property.

On the agreed upon job date, ( after calling "One call before you Dig" and following up on all reports) Justin and 2 crew members arrived promptly, cut and chipped all branches up to about 8 ft from top of very tall Doug Fir in view neighborhood. About 9 neighbors came out and photograghed the tree top cut. 6-8 ft sections were then cut, dramatically falling straight down. We made several trips to city of Tacoma dump, behind Home Depot. Word of warning, as resident, I had free dump service of chips, branches, needles, cones etc., but NO DIRT!! On 2nd load, before we knew how strict (unreasonable) they were, some heavy, water saturated roots had small, clumps of clay/dirt attached to roots. Because of that 1lb or so of dirt, I had to pay City of Tacoma for weight of whole load, 4420 lbs! $281. Justin and I split that unforeseen cost, and my part is reflected in my total cost. They finished out first day removing rest of junipers and outlying tree roots. Justin and one assistant finished up job next day, leaving large area with evenly distributed smooth soil level. Both days the property was left picked up, blown clean. I had one side of my garage empty so I invited Justin to store any equipment he didn't want to haul around, overnight, so he did. I found Justin and his crew professional, hardworking, polite and trustworthy. I will hire Justin, Keiser Enterprises, again.
Description of Work: Justin came to my home and provided a detailed bid, in sections, so I could decide how much to have cut. I appreciated that his bid was submitted to me the day he came to estimate. The main job was cutting down and removing and hauling away tall Doug Fir, with separate bids for grinding out trunk and large, extensive root system; and surrounding 110ft of juniper hedge. I chose Justin because when he described how he would complete the job, he covered every problem I could come up with. He had his own high climbing gear, his own dump truck, flatbed for hauling partial logs, and chipper and back blade for gouging out roots and smoothing area after excavation. He did not need to subcontract out any of the job and he was the lowest of 3 bids. I accepted his bid for all sections.

Justin contacted me right away, made an appointment, arrived promptly, and gave a professional and detailed bid that included everything I wanted to have done. We were working on scheduling and then my world changed. I have had to postpone the job but this is definitely my company of choice when I am able to schedule this job. He has all of the equipment and expertise needed to remove a tree in the corner of the backyard where there is really no access for equipment. This company also does General Contractor work and, as we talked when he was at the house, we discovered that he had done a few repair jobs for me before I even moved into the house. His company was hired through my real estate agent prior to my move-in. One of the jobs he did inside was installation of a down-draft stove which included vent work. The work was flawless and I was very pleased! I am already also planning some inside work for the future - right after we get those trees handled - right after I get my feet back on the ground! I want to add that he was also very understanding when I explained why I had to postpone the job. I'm very much looking forward to working with him in the future!

Justine and his 2 assistants removed a very tall and thick ponderosa pine tree from the front of my home. The tree must have been about 2.5 feet thick at the base and was estimated to be about 70 feet tall. It had multiple tops with lots of very thick branches and was growing near other trees so access to it was tricky. It was growing about 10 feet from my home and didn't look well. It rained needles year around on the ground, on the roof and plugged the rain gutter; and gave me about 10-20 "free" pine cones a week. I had little success trying to grow flowers and lawn grass under it. Justin and his assistants showed up on time; positioned the chipper, trucks, and stump grinder. His assistants carefully tied ropes to the branches, cut them off the main trunk, lowered them down so they wouldn't bounce or spring upwards from the ground, fall on the house or the other trees and then chipped them. The chipper easily handled all the branches. The tree trunk was cut into about 16" firewood rounds and set off to one side for my own future use. The stump was ground down below grade and its chips left in place for mulch. My neighbor had about a 12" diameter stump nearby that they ground for free (Thanks, Justin!) before doing mine. They smoothed and leveled the surrounding ground where the stumps were and cleaned up the mess the pine tree made when they took it down. It looks really nice. No damage was done to the house nor nearby trees.
Description of Work: Justin Matney, owner of Keiser Enterprises, cut down a 70 foot tall pine tree, chipped the branches and ground the stump.

Thank you [removed members name] for your review. You told me that you believed that my company was the best choice for your project, even though we were not the lowest bidder. However, in your wisdom, you know, like many people do, that you get what you pay for. I strive to be the best in my business, go the extra mile for people, and give them the better service while keeping the project at a fair price. You treat people right, they tell everyone, you treat people wrong, they tell everyone. We all know what that means.

Wonderful! Keiser Enterprises LLC were a pleasure to work with. They worked really hard, safely removed a very large tree that was only feet away from our house and power lines. They cleaned up nicely after the removal. Justin was easy to communicate with and he always kept me updated on the progress. I would definitely use Keiser Enterprises LLC again in the future.

We were pleased with the initial tree work. The price was much less then other bids. Some initial issues that came up were his dogs (he brings two large labs to the work site and we along with neighbors had issues with them not being tied up all the time). Additionally while he can be very professional and charming we heard and our neighbors later complained to us after the jobs were done that an excessive amount of foul language was used. The overall quality of all of the work seems good. We would not use him again nor recommend him for the following reasons: Unknown to us, he was preforming all of this work without a valid CDL and received a ticket while doing this work one day. This caused a lot of delay in the work since he had to go take classes to get a CDL. Towards the end of the project he was not showing up at scheduled times and we would often have to call him the day of to see when he would be coming (after the initial time he said he would be there). He ended up taking on a lot of work withthis and I think it was too much for him to do by himself. He really doesn't have a crew, besides someone who helps with the tree trimming. We ended up letting him go before all of the work was completed do to the extensive amount of time it was taking and do to the decline in the work attitude. Throughout the project we were frequently having to ask him for updated invoices and receipts for the payments we had made. With later work we had done with other companies we now realize that most companies have a contract and itemized bids, both of which he does not do.
Description of Work: We initially hired Justin to do some tree trimming and later hired him to do more extensive work that included tree removal, yard excavation, installing a french drain, and demo'ing and remodeling some basement rooms.

My Scope of Work, which describes the work and the cost, is the contract. I invoice the entire job at the completion of the job. As a general contractor and by law, I do not have to itemize any bid or invoice, I am not a retail store where you purchase items. There is 736 recorded man hours worked in 28 days between three people. 457 miles for hauling 378.2 tons of materials (dirt or rock) in and out of the job-site in my 10 yard dump truck. 90 hours on my excavator. The additional tree removals, stump grindings, French drain, dry well, and remodel were all in addition to the original tree trimming, which was a one day job. I made room in my full schedule to accommodate this job due to the rainy season coming all at the expense of losing other jobs that were scheduled. Mr. Hernandez was well aware of this information before I took on his non-scheduled extra work. My CDL has nothing to do with my business license, bond, or insurance let alone the work. A CDL is a commercial driver's license, which I have (Class A). A CDL is for driving commercial vehicles over 26,000 lbs. and in combination with a trailer.

The job was performed flawlessly. They limbed up the tree before they topped it and managed to avoid hitting any of the small trees nearby that we wanted to save. The whole process was amazing to watch and we are extremely happy with the work done. All of he guys, Justin, Cliff and Randy are extremely personable and really know their business. Should the need arise, we would definitely hire them again!

Thank you (member name removed). Missing all them trees below took some precision cutting that had no room for error. I love all the challenges that arise in urban logging. The more complicated the rigging for a safe removal the better I like it. It separates me from the people who are unwilling or unable to do those extreme dangerous removals.

Thank you [removed member name]. I did get your email on the motorcycle carburetor information. It did help for tuning my 62 Norton. Since I had my excavator on site, it was important to me to leave a nice smooth area after ripping out the stump. Those extra things that I do for people is from the heart. I like to leave a person's property as nice looking as I can from the work done. Sometimes it is a challenge with big trucks and heavy equipment, which are necessary to complete the job quickly and safely.
