Description of Work: Washing machine repair. Cold water was not going into machine. There was some sort of clog in the water line just inside of the machine. Service technician took care of the problem, and filled the machine with cold water several times to make sure it was working properly.

When my washer died I needed a quality long lasting washer and I had to buy within my budget - a lot to ask for! The crew at Harold's in Lacey were knowledgeable and professional, and Bonnie was willing to work with me to meet my budget restraints. They have friendly and respectful delivery people, who left their shoes at the door while installing the washer, since it was raining! I highly recommend this appliance store. Delivery & Installation was $45.
Description of Work: Sold, Delivered and Installed a Maytag washer. She allowed me to pay half upfront, and let me make small monthly payments on the rest, so I could get my new washer.

Our GE oven was not operating properly. We contacted Harold's Appliance because it was highly rated on Angie's List. When we hired Harold's, we were assured that they were competent and equipped to repair GE ovens. As the service tech conducted the initial service call, it became obvious that he was insufficiently trained to repair the oven and only guessing regarding the problem, as he did not run any electronic tests to isolate potential problems in the system. He concluded by process of elimination that the problem must have been in the control panel. He ordered a new panel and came back a week later. The installation of the new control did not fix the problem. The service tech stated that he was not knowledgeable enough to proceed further without contacting GE for additional information. He left saying that he'd call GE the following workday and get back to us. That was the last we ever heard from him. We didn't call Harold's again because it was clear that they were not up to the task of repairing the unit and because, to their credit, they had not charged us any fee thus far. About 3 weeks later we called GE and arranged for one of their authorized techs to service the oven. Coincidentally, Harold's Appliance got around to calling us five weeks after their service tech blew us off. The caller from Harold's stated that they would not be able to complete the service of our oven because GE would not provide them with technical information unless they paid a fee to GE, which they were unwilling to do. They had no explanation why it took them over a month to notify us or why they claimed to repair GE appliances when they obviously do not have a working relationship with GE to deal with technical issues.

Our Bosch dishwasher stopped draining water. We referred to an official Bosch repair place in Tacoma by McKinney's appliance. They were not available until after a long weekend. I called Harold's on the following Monday and had someone out on Tuesday. They were efficient and responsive. The repairman came prepared with ID and was efficient and effective. Somehow a small plastic piece of something or other had wiggled it's way into the tubing to the dishwasher. Problem solved! I was very impressed and will certainly use Harold's again and will also shop there for appliances.

Well, I called Harolds and some other places on a Saturday thinking i could get someone out that day, that was not going to happen, so they came out on Monday which i felt was very good. i told the tech that i did some testing as to water flow from the wall to the refrigerator, he agreed with me that it was inside the unit and not a water flow issue. He got it apart and determined that the water valve was not letting water get to the door or ice maker, but he had no way to service the valve because it was a sealed unit. he ordered a new valve and installed it about two weeks later, we had to have a Sat appointment so we had to wait a bit. He showed up on time and replaced the valve in about 15 minutes, all works well now, we would call them again if needed
Description of Work: First Visit, replaced ice maker hose, assessed problem with water valve inside refrigerator, ordered part. Second visit, put in new valve, works great !

Our refrigerator compartment had stopped cooling, yet our freezer was still working so I called Harold's Appliance Center after seeing their good rating on Angie's List, plus a discount coupon for List members. The earliest appointment was four days away. Four or more days without a fridge when you have a 3 yr old and a 4 month old is not fun. I had asked that the technician call ahead of time, which he did and he arrived in a timely manner. He immediately diagnosed that the fridge was not going into a defrost cycle and that it was probably a bad circuit board. He checked the circuit board with a multimeter and confirmed that it was bad. He didn't have a spare part with him, which he said he normally does, but thought there was one at the shop. He would call me in the afternoon to schedule a time for him to replace the board, and it would be a $45 return trip fee. All told he was at my house for 10 minutes. He called back that afternoon. The part was at the shop but he couldn't schedule a return trip for another 3 days. I asked if I could just pick up the part at the shop and install it myself. I have experience with plug-in circuit boards so I felt confident that I could do it. This way I would have a working fridge sooner and save a return trip fee. He said yes but there would be no warranty. Over the phone he mentioned that I could unplug the fridge, let it defrost and then plug it back in and that would get me 2-3 days of use before it frosted up again. So I purchased the part ($170) and was ready to install it myself. I went online to look at videos of removing the housing around the light ( I didn't want to break a clip) and found that our fridge's symptoms were quite common, and the fix is indeed to unplug, defrost, and plug it back in. So I decided to just do a manual defrost and see if it worked. If it didn't work then I'd replace the circuit board. Well the manual defrost worked...and is still working 2 months later. I don't think there is anything wrong with our fridge's circuit board and I am wondering what part of the circuit board the technician checked which made him say it was bad. Was he just saying it was bad to make an easy sale of a part? Was his multimeter not functioning correctly? I don't know, but I feel like I got duped into buying the part. I still have the part and likely cannot return it because I opened the packaging, but if our fridge's circuit board ever does fail, I'll be able to fix it myself.
Description of Work: "Diagnosed" a bad circuit board in our refrigerator.

They returned our calls promptly, and made the repairs promptly and efficiently. This is a local company for us, and we will not hesitate calling them again. Also, because we have a Samsung, not all appliance repair companies will come out - as I guess it can take some time to get parts - but they did come, and luckily no parts were needed for this repair. We actually called the company after the work was done to compliment the professionalism and efficiency of the young man doing our repair.
Description of Work: He came one day, and said it would save us money if we defrosted our fridge/freezer ourselves - and then returned 2 days later to remove a back panel and clean out some tubing that was causing water to back up and freeze in the bottom of the refrigerator.

I was very satisfied with the service that I received from them. The gentleman arrived within the time period I was given and diagnosed the problem with my stove within 5 minutes. He then took the time right then to call and find out how much the part would be and the service time he would need to install it. He gave me the option to have them replace it or wait if I wanted to. I decided to call them back to order the part and have them install it. I received a call as soon as the part came in and was scheduled within a few days to replace it. Once again, the same gentleman arrived within the time slot I was given. He removed the blown out part and replaced it in just a few minutes and then made sure my oven was working before he left. The oven works great now and I have had no more problems. I would definitely use them again for any major appliances!
Description of Work: Checked my oven and found out that the timer control had blown out. That basically is what allows the oven portion of the stove to work. He replaced it next visit when part came in.

It wouldn’t turn on and I was freaking out because it is only three years old. They came out promptly but it turned out that they needed two people because it is a stacking washer and dryer so he called someone out. They were very cheerful about it and they managed to get it working right them and there. He couldn’t get in there to solder the parts back together but he was able to get it working for the time being. He was upfront about it and let me know that he could order the new part. I really appreciate that he got it working until he could come back. They do a good job of calling to confirm and setting up appointments. They were fair and fast.

They fixed what they could and advised me on what to do, if anything, about what they couldn't. For instance the light over the stove which is part of the hanging microwave could not be repaired. And, while they fixed the ice maker the slow flow of water needs to be dealt with by a plumber.

All went well; a service tech came when he said he would and completed his work in less than half an hour. The cost broke down to $15.00 for a new power cord (Mr. Sparky replaced the wall socket) and $100 for the service call, labor and peace of mind - plus tax. Cheaper would have been nice, but confidence in the service tech is worth a lot.
Description of Work: My Maytag clothes dryer plug and socket melted due to home electrical panel issues (see my Quality Electric/Mr. Sparky review), however I initially didn't know whether my dryer was the cause - much less whether it had been damaged when the circuit blew. So, knowing they've sold and serviced Maytag appliances for at least 30 years and having prior good experience with them, I called Harold's to do my clothes dryer damage assessment and repair - the latter consisting of replacing my 220 Volt power cord and general safety inspection.

Washing machine quit working. Called Harold's. They were able to schedule an appointment for the next day. They came when they said they would. The service call was about 30 minutes in total. The repairman said that he found "a bad speed board and motor." I didn't know what a speed board was. He explained it. He told me how much it would cost to replace the bad parts (I can't remember exactly, but I think it was $300 for the motor) and suggested that it would probably just be better to get a new washer. There was no pressure whatsoever to get one at Harold's. I felt comfortable with his determination and I would use Harold's again.

Our refrigerator was not cooling. We called Harold's in the morning and the serviceman arrived that afternoon. He was nice, prompt, and quick. We paid 85.72 for the service call.
