Gary is simply the best. He even got back to me while he was on vacation, walking me through a range of possible solutions gratis, and then, when repair work was needed, he provided excellent and efficient repair for very reasonable rates. I would recommend him over and over again!

I have been struggling with a permissions problem for 2+ days. I started with Apple Support and quickly involved the app vendor. Apple gave up late yesterday, saying it was a problem with the app and couldn't any more advice. The app support group hung in there, but by mid-afternoon today, started repeating earlier advice that didn't work the first time. I contacted Gary this evening with some basic information and voila, problem solved! We have used Gary three or four times now for iMac, MacBook Pro, and iPhone problems. He is what everyone hopes for in tech support. He is the best!

I used email and got an immediate response that the problem might be fixed with the exchange of a few emails and it turned out to be true. I admit to being pretty green in computer savvy and it took several backs and forths before the printer worked fine with my Mac. However, I did download an update of the operating system lately and it failed to work after that, I will have to try again. The advice and directions were given to me in a very straight forward, easily followed manner and it was all done so without any charge. I will be using the service again, this time with a home visit so the interchanges can be more direct and detailed than simply by email. This is a first class business that I recommend highly.

Fantastic. Gary is truly unbeatable for his knowledge and professionalism. He came to our house to do most of the work, but also helped us here in Portland online from his office in Vancouver. Gary is not only willing to take all the time needed to get the job done in the best way possible, but we gained a great deal of helpful advice from him about our new Apple iMac. Above all Gary comes across as completely trustworthy -- important when you're allowing someone else to get into your computer data. Great! Gary is very knowledgable and professional He knows all Mac systems very well. He helped fix a corruption on the hard drive, remove programs that were running in the background unnecessarily, update my computer to the latest operating system possible (2009 model cannot support latest upgrade (Sierra) but he knew of a work around to get latest OS possible). We ran malware scan. He helped ***** Wifi functionality and transfer speeds around the house, as well as came up with a solution for extending the signal through the whole house.He also got my Time Capsule backing up correctly. I have had chronic problems with it not backing up. I have also had constant problems synching my calendar with my wife's calendar on her phone - this was fixed, as well as reorganizing my email platform on the main computer. Lastly, my dog had destroyed my Apple TV remote and was not usable. He was able to program my universal remote to run it (there is an iPhone app, but the unit had dropped off the Wifi network so was not accessible to the App). He also got my universal remote to run it's other functions with much better efficiency! I look forward to working with Gary again should other problems arise!

Many of my friends use Gary's services because he is quick and trustworthy. For me, it is incredibly important that I can trust the person working on my computer ! He is great at explaining things and is very patient.My friends and I are all return customers because he is good in all things Apple and in entertainment installation.

Calling Gary Hays was one of the smartest decisions I have ever made. I was looking at losing over 400 GBs of photos/videos when I tried updating, what I thought was a very old computer. I had done all the possible ides from online help searches, and had taken to the mac store in Washington Square, helping only partially. At the Genius Bar, they helped my find my photos from an earlier time machine backup but my videos in iPhoto kept getting an error message. I was not too excited about the prospect of losing all those family videos. Gary came and said the doubted that my computer was at fault, and that the incredible wait times, the spinning rainbow circle taking minutes for programs to open was the result of not staying current with the updates over time. He helped me completely prepare the computer step by step, making it ready to use OS X Yosemite. After following each one of his recommendations, I was able to open the new Photo app and EVERYTHING was there, all videos, and all photo files I thought had been lost. The other huge part of Gary's visit was the rebuilding of our iTunes library. Four or 5 years back, during Apple's Mobileme days, a glitch in their software had multiplied a playlist over 40,000 times, making iTunes unbearably slow and cumbersome and almost impossible to use on my iMac. He rebuilt my musiclibrary and got everything running smoothly and normally. This too came as a great relief as we had many important recordings downloaded over time. He easy to work with and very professional, giving me great confidence and saving us from buying something we didn't need to purchase yet. This mac, has never worked quicker and better. He also helped with some follow-up questions, and he really wanted me to feel satisfied. I completely and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who need help with their desk top computer. The in home visit was beyond worth the cost.

It was okay. I wasn't really impressed. He did what he was paid to do but I wasn't impressed. It was fine. He did the bare minimum of what was required. They were nice, courteous and professional. They could have done a more comprehensive job.

I have been using In-Home Technology Services for a few years now, to help keep my various Apple devices running smoothly. I usually call or email Gary Hays, owner, when I'm having a problem with something. He often can help me resolve it via email or over the phone for no additional charge, but I have had him come out to the house at least once a year, sometimes more, and then pay him hourly for his time. This year I was so pleased that he began offering flat-rate contracts to his clients for regular Mac 'tune-ups'. I paid for a semi-annual contract. This is the second time this year that Gary has come out on this year's tune-up contract. Gary did a thorough inspection of my Mac to make sure it's running at peak performance and hasn't been infected with adware nor malware. He always give me advice and tips or tricks I can use to help keep it, and my other Apple devices, running smoothly. In addition, today he helped me resolve a couple of issues my girls were having, one with her iPhone and the other with her MacBook Pro. The girls were in school, their devices were at school with them. I had just made notes about the issues they were having and Gary expertly advised me regarding how to resolve the issues. We were able to resolve them this afternoon when the girls arrived home from school. On top of that, in our last tune-up visit, Gary recommended that I get an Airport Express to place upstairs to help our in-home wireless network perform more efficiently. I had purchased it but had been unable to set it up myself. Gary was happy to set it up for me and make sure it was running properly. Gary is an Apple-Certified Consultant and really knows his stuff! I remain a very satisfied and loyal customer of Gary Hays and In-Home Technology Services! :-)

Gary was on time. He was very helpful. He continued to be a resource atter his work was done.

Great! He left easy to follow instructions for installing new memory boards and upgrading to the latest version of software, El Capitan. The new boards cost about $20 with shipping. The installation went great and we are up and running. Service was polite and professional. He understood that we are not the most computer-savvy folks and explained everything to us on our level.

This went very well will all task done professionally. The services was timely and without any issues. I would definitely recommend this company for further and future work. Job very well done!

He was precise, efficient, knowledgeable, informative, kind, patient, and answered all questions. He even let me text him with further questions. He took care of all the issues I was having with my computer. I would highly recommend him. What a relief to have my MAC running so well now.

He then did not call me after he found I was not at the address Angie's list gave him. I ended up calling him after he failed to come to my house where the computer was. This was our second re-schedule. He was leaving for a trip the next day and seemed happy that he did not have to service another coupon offer, which I understand being a business owner myself. He told me he was booked through mid-November. Then Angie's list gave me a hard time about the refund and expected me to wait over 30 days. I don't think so.

Lots of people are brilliant about computers/technology. However, in my experience few of these people know how to TEACH someone how to use them Gary is that person. Both brilliant on tech AND knows how to teach an old novice such as myself. HE WAS GREAT!

Gary will either come to your home or you can bring your Mac to his place of business. I took my Mac to him after he suggested that a new hard drive could add about 4 years to my computer. Since I want to delay buying a new computer as long as possible, this was an inexpensive option for me. I took my computer to him around noon and it was ready the same day. The computer is much faster now.

Gary did an excellent job with our computer. We've had it since 2011 and was getting very slow and needed some help. Instantly he found what was holding up most of our hardrive and made great suggestions to clear away some clutter. He helped us find some additional memory cards to improve the speed of the computer as well. We already had an external hardrive that we wanted set-up, unfortunately the cord was bad and on the spot he swapped it for one he already had (at no charge). Gary was very professional, knowledgeable, and certainly someone we would work with again for our computer and/or any apple product support. Thank you!

He's really good. He just suggested to us that we buy a re-serviced one from apple, order it and then pick it up from apple store in down town.We brought it home, had it in a box and he said that the re-serviced apple computers are gone through so skillfully and efficiently that it's just as good to buy a re-serviced one than it is to buy a new one and the cost was much better. He's just an outstanding, he's smart, engaging, shares everything with you if you are sitting in the room with him, you don't even have to ask. Next time it will just have $80 instead of $160 because he had alot of work to do.
