They were very professional and very cost-effective. They were very practical in the sense that they didn't prescribe anything that we did not feel was necessary. We would use them again.

Without easy access, the crew were nevertheless able to successfully replace the insulation. They left the surroounding area clean. Professional, friendly, on time. Subsequent followup by company staff (Mark) to ensure job was done properly (good phone communication when arrival delays)..

I felt totally confident that his approach was correct and was extremely pleased at his willingness to further educate me on the situation. He was very pleasant, professional, and a pleasure to work with. He made the discomfort I was feeling of having to deal with these nuisance ants go away. I'm optimistic that his application of bait will do the job and eliminate the ants. I'm very glad I called this company!!

we were impressed with the company's prompt response to a rodent problem at our vacation cabin in the cle elum, wa area. Their service tech. Savoie was at the residence the very next day after receiving word of our prob. He was nice, professional and thorough! We look forward to working with him in the future :-)
Description of Work: rodent pest control: Savoie (sp?) not only checked all buildings inside and out on the property, but also went into the crawl space and secured/repaired the possible area of entry for the rodents.

Willard's has helped us several times. The first time we thought we had a hornet nest in our attic. We had called another company who told us we had 4 nests that needed extermination. The cost was higher than we were willing to pay. My dad recommended Willard's - they came and inspected the nests, and told us that all of them were dead except one little one that looked like it was dying (it was autumn). They put no pressure on us to have them kill the nest, and told us it was actually outside and would probably die off soon. I think we ended up spraying it ourselves. They didn't charge us for their time, and were willing to answer all our questions. The second time they helped us was when we caught and killed several mice in our house. Willard's performed a complete inspection, didn't find any more mice or signs of them, and recommended what we could do at home to prevent further problems. They are friendly but professional; I totally felt like they were being honest and straightforward with me (unlike the first company that told me I had 4 hornet nests in my attic). I have consistently recommended Willard's to our friends in need.
Description of Work: For a possible hornet infestation in our attic, they climbed up through our ceiling attic door, shined flashlights onto each of four nests (one was the size of a beachball), determined that the nests were inactive, then inspected the outside area to see how close the hornets in one little nest would affect human activity. For a possible mice or rat infestation, they inspected the whole house, especially the garage, laid some traps out, but told us what to do ourselves if we wanted to take care of it on our own (which we did), and charged us next to nothing. They spent a lot of time with us and made sure all our questions were satisfied in both instances.

We had work on some siding that needed to be done and the workman noticed wasps near to where he would be working. Of course, we needed to have the nest removed before he could begin work. Williards had someone out right away. The nest was under the house and apparently as large as a watermelon. Work was done and we also had him spray the eaves for additional wasp prevention. It seemed very costly to me, but the work was guaranteed and the work was finished quickly so the contractor could continue the other work on the house without delay.

The estimate was $5700.00. I looked them up on Angie's List. They had good reviews and they were a local company. They did the kind of work I wanted done. They were good. I got 3 bids and took the lowest one. They weren't the lowest one so they didn't get the job. The job was pretty straightforward. They had to take off the old insulation and put in the new one. It wasn't anything too difficult or technical. They were punctual, friendly, and professional. I would not consider contacting them for other work in the future. It was not based on anything they did but on the price.

We engaged Willard's because we needed rodent inspection on a regular basis, and at OUR convenience. We had discontinued a well-known pest control company due to their inability to schedule service calls ahead of time to ensure we would be at home. In order to do a complete inspection, it is necessary to let the technician inside our home to check the crawlspace and to check the attic. The friendly receptionist at Willard's, however, assured me that they would call ahead for bi-monthly service calls, and that we could call them if that worked out better for us. From March to August, I don't recall one bi-monthly visit that went smoothly or that was arranged ahead of time. We would come home to find an invoice noting what had been done around the periphery, with a notation to "call for crawlspace inspection." In other words, the situation was just as bad as it had been with the other company, except in Willard's case, we kept getting an invoice for the first service, which had been incomplete. The facts are murky by now, but at least two people, including General Manager Rick, assured me that we did not have to pay that bill and that there was no outstanding balance on our account. I called about four times to remind them of their agreement to call us ahead of time so that my husband -- who is an hourly worker but whose workplace is just 15 minutes from home -- could take unpaid time to be at home. We cannot leave a key for such an inspection because the crawlspace is accessed under a stairway closet that must be emptied first, and the attic is accessed with a ladder inside the walk-in closet of the lady of the house (me). We also have two indoor cats that must never be allowed to escape outside. After being assured on August 16 by the General Manager that we had no balance, and that they would be sure to call ahead from now on, we came home the very next day to find the usual service record/invoice in our door latch. Realizing that the unscheduled service call must have been a case of missed messages on Willard's part -- and tired of complaining -- I mailed a check for the $73 service charge the next day, even though they still owed us an inside inspection, just to keep our balance at zero. I planned to call them when one of us could be at home so they could complete the August inspection. However, it kept slipping my mind during my busy workday and bus commute to and from Seattle. The final straw occurred late last week when we received our third invoice for the first service. I wrote a letter to the General Manager saying that we were terminating our dealings with them. I sent back the invoice with a big X across it. Willard's personnel were always polite and friendly, but in our case they were unable to accommodate our working schedules, and as a result we received only partial service, with the possible exception of the second visit. Now we're perusing Angie's List for another pest control service, because last night we -- and the cats -- heard some ominous noises in the attic. UPDATE (11/2010): We received another invoice for the same $70.63 charge a month after sending the detailed letter to the General Manager. I called the office, expecting a confrontation, and was pleasantly surprised to be assured by the personable receptionist that I was not to be concerned; she and the manager had discussed my letter, and the invoice should not have been sent. I told her I was concerned that they would sent it to collection, and that I would pay it just to preserve my credit rating, but she said to tear up the invoice. So I thought that was that! Fast forward to November 1: yet another invoice for the same aborted service call in June arrived in the mail. I couldn't believe it. The only conclusions my (very angry) husband and I could come to were: 1) Willard's billing practices are totally messed up because they don't communicate with the billing entity; or 2) Four different Willard's employees were shining me on when they assured me we didn't have to pay for the botched service in June. Whatever the reason, we decided to just pay the invoice and be done with them.
Description of Work: Inspect for rodent infestation, block access points and bait traps. Areas of inspection include the outside of the house, but mainly the crawlspace, which had a dampness problem and rat infestation in 2006, and the attic, which had the same infestation. Another company had treated that infestation by removing debris and insulation and replacing the insulation. We also had a sump pump installed to treat the dampness in the crawlspace. Our goal was to prevent a recurrence of the rodent infestation.

They came out and did not send a quote. I was calling the realtor daily (note that this did not occur with any other of the myriad services they helped with since I moved out of state, so I'm 100% sure the issue wasn't the realtor) for the results. She was getting more and more annoyed with willards because she kept calling Willards and they WOULD not respond. Finally, the realtor gave up and said if it was that bad, we'd have gotten the quote and we figured they had blown us off. So the house went under contract a month later, got through inspection and suddenly Willard sends a bill for an "inspection" that we never received 6 weeks after our request for a quote. I objected to paying $81 for an "inspection" when we asked for a quote that never was sent to us. So the realtor called them and they sent out the quote and called it an inspection (which it wasn't). The realtor objected to charging for the quote (because it sure as h*** wasn't an inspection report) and I objected to it, but they refused to respond to us again. So I sent them a check and have spread the word on what crooks they are. My suspicion is because the house is in a pricier area, they thought they could wait until we went under contract and charge more money because we'd be in a bigger hurry to get the work done. The timing of the bill was just a little too cute coming right after the contingency status was changed. These guys are crooks and highly unethical. I'd advise anyone to look elsewhere for pest control services. If we had received the quote they sent in a timely manner, i probably would have had the work done. I'm glad I didn't. Note since I received a bill from them, I marked yes on the did work though they didn't and this review should get full credit as "having work done" since obviously they think they did something deserving of billing me for.
Description of Work: Before putting my house on the market I did a pre-sale whole house inspection. Contained in the results was the statement that there was evidence that at some point wood infesting insects had been in a corner of my crawl space. I did not want to get an offer and have this be an issue, so my realtors assistant contacted Willards to give us a quote on the work to fix it.

Overall, it was not a pleasant experience. Willard's did have to deal with difficult tenants, so this was h****** them. To add to the problem of difficult tenants, we also had shared ownership of costs with the condo association depending on where the access points were located, condo association policies, etc. Willard's was aware of the situation but didnt make any attempt to streamline the efforts and communication between different parties so as to resolve the problem quickly. Instead we felt they were just dragging it on, while charging us for most visits. There were several miscommunications and when I brought them up with Willard's they refused to take any responsibility for it. Their first attempt to resolve the problem did not work out, and we never got good answers as to why the problem didnt get solved. A problem that should have been resolved in 2-3 months atmost ended up taking more than 5 months. At the end, there were several charges which I disputed, and the only response I got from them was that they would send my account to collections if I didnt pay up! A very disappointing experience! The problem is resolved as of the present, but we went through a lot of unnecessary hardship as a result of bad management on Willard's part.
Description of Work: We contacted Willard's to address a rodent infestation around the kitchen area between the insulation. We had tenants living in the house. They examined the interior and exterior of the house, identified entry points, laid traps and closed access points.

When I called Willards I got an immediate response and appointment. They were prompt every time . They were at my front door when they said they'd be, which to me is an invaluable asset. Tom Jones (yes, that was his name)checked the crawl space and confirmed the presence of rats. He didn't use poison but trapped them instead. Because of damage we needed a lot of insulation and the vapor barrier replaced. They came out, were very courteous and tidy. They put down protection while removing the contaminated insulation and cleaned up after themselves as promised. When Tom came back out for the follow up check up and I felt there was a couple of spots they'd missed, he got his team out that afternoon to finish the job to my satisfaction. I may be a bit picky but I never got the feeling it was too much trouble for them. Very customer oriented.
Description of Work: Willards came and checked for rats in our crawl space. They trapped and removed all the rats. We then had them remove all the old vapor barrier and the soiled, contaminated insulation . They disposed of it too They also cleaned up down there around the footings. They replaced the vapor barrier and insulation where it was needed.

They have come out several times, and depending on who has come out, it has been a kind of mixed experience. We had one team that came out last week and they were wonderful. I have had individuals come out when we?ve had some different problems, and they?ve been not very responsive; they had told us that we didn?t have an issue with rats when we were sure that we did, and it later turned out that we were right. Before we moved in, when the electrician was doing some work in the house, we had the ceiling opened up, and there were lots of rats up there. The technician ended up setting up a trap in the ceiling; it got re-sealed after the electrician had finished his work. We ended up with a horrible smell. We had to cut a hole in the ceiling to try to access them. They were supposed to have fixed that for us. I don?t know if there was a miscommunication between the two guys working. I wasn?t there at that time but I don?t think that was the right approach. I?ve not compared prices with other companies. Part of the cost was handled by the original owners of our house, and we?re covering some follow up visits. I think that their price is a little high but I haven?t seen them complete the work yet. I think it is $350 for a visit which has a series of follow up visits involved. They have come out when we have asked them to.

The crawl space had to be totally cleaned out and sanitized and I did not use them for this part of the job because they quoted me really high; I just had them do the trapping and the sealing. The quality was not great and I was not impressed with the way they sealed up the vent. They stapled a piece of wire mesh on the outside of the house which is not professional looking. They were good communicators for sure and they were punctual. I would consider using them again but it would depend on what I needed.

I had yellowjackets coming into my den through recessed lights. Found them coming in to the house from a VERY small opening at the top of the siding. I had issues when the appointment time passed with no estimator. When I called the office, they informed me that the appointment time is a 2 hour window and not a hard start time. They hadn't told me that when I made the appointment. I went through some other issues trying to find out how long the estimate would take since I had a hard end-time. After a few phone calls and some confusion I got the estimator to call me and make arrangements around the conflict. After that, the office person called to apologize for the confusion and she was really nice about it. I liked the estimator, but he was in and out very quickly. He said he had done so many of these that estimating was easy, but one thing he didn't cover (that the other company did cover) is the need for more vents in my attic. Since I was going to be bringing the insulation up to code, I also had to add vents and he never mentioned this. He also made no mention of the PSE rebates. The company I am working with is aligned with PSE, so the rebates are taken off of the bottom line before I even cut a check. After doing 2 estimates, I decided to go with the other company, who were insulation experts. Willards may be pest experts, but they seemed to be lacking in the insulation area.

Very well. Started early in the day. Worked into the afternoon. No return of ants, rodents or woodpeckers.
Description of Work: 1. Carpenter ants were found entering the south side of the building at the corner in front of the Unit B parking space. The ants were traveling up the wall (between the siding and framing). They were then crossing into the upstairs bedroom of Unit A in the carport attic. The exterminator injected insecticide into the walls and crevices where the ants were found. A substantial number of ants were observed leaving the building in distress. The exterminator is confident that the nest was terminated. The entire 4-plex perimeter was sprayed to prevent re-entry. Perimeter spraying will continue monthly. 2. Evidence of rodents was observed in the crawlspaces of units A and B. The exterminator set traps and installed exclusion devices on the areas where it appeared that rats may have entered the crawlspaces. The exterminator will need to return within about one-week to check the traps. This means that he will need to access the crawlspace access door under the stairs. I am sorry for the inconvenience that this causes. 3. Four woodpecker holes were covered with metal cloth and foamed to close access to other birds and rain. The woodpeckers have since vacated (but let me know if you hear them again). The birds that had attempted to nest in the woodpecker holes are now excluded.

I have been using Willard's Pest Control for 5-6 years. You get the same person each time. They know my house, and we have established a relationship with the technician. They are timely. He didn't want me to sign up for un-needed services. He made suggestions, and left it up to me. I appreciated his honesty and kander, and as a result I use them a lot more often. These guys came out 3 or 4 times but could not find the point of entry for the rats. They thought the rats must be burrowing from underground and wanted to cut a hole in our drywall to test their theory, but we declined. Because they could not find the point of entry, they did not charge us for two of their visits. They also referred us to another pest control guy they thought might have some more expertise. They said our situation was unusually difficult, because usually they can find the point of entry. Their trapping was mostly ineffective because once two rats were caught, the rest were trap-shy. Seems they should be more methodical in setting traps, first putting out some traps that weren't set so the rats would get used to them, then putting out another round that were set.
