Very, very bad experience. I will not recommend Rod to anyone.
Description of Work: We decided not to hire Rod for the work after he did the estimate, he turned nasty. He did get paid for his time doing the estimate. It was the worst experience we had with any contractor

The member's condominium is actually the top floor of a duplex. The house is diseased. Because of improper roof work, the parapet over the upstairs deck/bedroom door has leaked sufficiently to cause a heavy accumulation of trapped moisture resulting in a heavy mold stench in the room and subsequently rotted the door frame to the extent replacement was critically needed. When I walked in the room, the odor was so stultifying I explained the probable cause to the member in minute detail and probable cure. I explained this stench as a significant clue to the cause of the rotted door jam and that probative investigation was immediately indicated from this issue alone. She said she wanted to look at the door and not deal with the smell. Looking at the degree of rot to the door, I immediately turned to the wall next to the door and over the door. More rot in these locations. I pulled back. I told her I could replace the doorframe, however only if the wall was sound and the only way to know was to open up the wall. I told her I could do the investigative work for $39 an hour above the cost of the door work. She stated that sounded fair. I said that I needed to type a contract and return to do the work before doing anything, I had her sign the contract. The contract warned extensive rot damage was already evident due to the smell and visible rot damage and that further hidden damage was certain. The contract explained the investigative work was to be billed separately from the door work and that we would develop a budget upon completion of the investigation with a qualified roofer of either her choice or mine or her realtor After some investigation, I became aware of such extensive damage that I determined this needed much more work than just putting in a new door jam. I showed the member the severe damage, concluding for her that further investigation would reveal more rot damage and what I believed to be the cause, she told me to go ahead and call my sub. While I was calling, she called her husband. The member came over and became quite angry with me. Certainly, there was a leak and an odor and rot I was nor responsible for, however he angrily stomped about, demanded how much for the investigative work, I told him an hour. He stomped out of the house. I drove by the house every day, at least twice a day until the door repair was completed. The necessary roof repairs were not made and they still owe me for the door work.

He does not do electrical or plumbing, but he will do little projects here and there. Painting, power washing, concrete repair, carpentry and so on. He does a good job. He has an excellent price, but it does vary from project to project. There have been a couple of times he has been late, but on average he is on time.
