The quality of service was horrible. They did not reattach the dryer vent to the wall. They left the air duct covers off with screws on floor. Vents did not seem clean. Couch upholstery was so wet it took two full days to dry. They left puddles of water on hardwood floor by couch. They poored dirty linty water on my front lawn. They did not clean up after themselves. Awful experience.

We choose this company based on a flyer in the Valpak coupons and the subsequent conversation with the woman who answered the phone. If you are tempted to use them, don't. Although I explained to the woman on the phone exactly what size our home was, the estimate that she gave me was significantly less than what I was quoted by the technician. This is due to a couple of interesting points: 1. steam clean does not include soap! (you must pay extra for the "deep clean" which actually cleans) 2. closets are not included in the square footage of the room they are in but are counted as a separate room in an of themselves (for instance, if you have a 3 bedroom home and you just wanted the bedrooms cleaned, you'd actually pay for 4 rooms). 3. each hallway is counted as a separate room regardless of size 4. sanitizing your carpets requires the addition of extra chemicals and nearly doubles the cost (hey, I thought steam was a sanitizer!) Oh, and when I asked how long the carpets would take to dry, I was told about 6 hours. Well, they actually took over 3 days to completely dry. The woman on the phone assured me that I was not under any obligation to have the work performed, although if I choose not to proceed after the technician gave me a formal quote I would have to pay a $69 trip fee. Well, if I hadn't had a deadline that I needed to meet, I would have thrown the guys out after they did the estimate. They were rude and used some very unprofessional high pressure sales tactics to get me to agree to their ridiculous prices. After I flatly refused to pay what they were asking, he called the office and got them to give me an additional discount. So, I did agree to have the carpets cleaned. And I have to say they did a pretty good job. But I will still never hire them again. When the technician gave me the final bill, he tried to charge me 9.5% tax. When I pointed out that that wasn't our tax rate, he argued with me, trying to convince me that the tax rate was based on their office location. After he called his office, his story changed. Now, he said the tax rate was based on our city, which would make it 9.3%. Well, the truth is the tax rate is based on our ADDRESS and we are in an unincorporated area so our tax rate is really 8.6%! This is a very unprofessionally run business. They misrepresent their prices to get you in the door, then use high pressure sales tactics to get you to spend more than you want, and they don't know how to collect sales tax appropriately. All in all, I would recommend you stay as far away from them as possible.
Description of Work: We had the carpets cleaned in the entire house (3200 sq feet) and the air ducts cleaned.

Response from Pacifica Air Care
We are proud Member feels we did a good job with her carpets. Our goal is to do a good job for our customers. We thank Member for being fair and mentioning this important point. Member's initial quote was based on an offer she picked from a coupon special which included cleaning of 3 rooms of carpet + air duct + unlimited number of vents of a single furnace for $115. On the same coupon there was also an offer for deep carpet cleaning. The deep cleaning was offered at a higher price, and included Pre-Conditioner, Shampoo and Deodorizer. Member requested the package in which the pre-conditioner, shampoo and deodorizer were not included, and was quoted a price accordingly. She later mistakenly expected shampoo to be included. Member is correct in explaining that we charge per room. Closets and hallways are separate rooms, as each presents its own challenges for a carpet cleaning technician, and require more time, energy and solutions. It is abundantly clear in all of our advertizing that we charge per room, not by square footage. Our basic charges are clearly stated on our coupons. $75/ 3 rooms, $125/5 rooms, etc. This system helps us eliminate the need to drive out to customers for an estimate, and later have to add the cost of fuel, time and wages into the final cost. We trust our customer’s ability to count the number of rooms they want cleaned, and try to save them the hidden cost of coming out for a “free Estimate”. Our technicians have a set price list. Member wanted good work done, but was surprise by the cost. Our technician wanted to accommodate Member, and used his “limited monthly discount credits” for Member. Although Member can’t be aware of this, the technician did her a favor by calling the office to lower the price for her. He is only allowed to do this limited number of times each month. As for the “sales tactics” complaint: We work hard to get the best results possible for our customers. Our technicians are trained to offer customers the best options available. It is up to each customer to decide which options to choose, and which to skip. We are sure that if Member was looking at a menu in a nice restaurant, she would not view the menu as “high pressure” simply because there were items on it which she did not choose to order. Member, we are very mindful of repeat business, which is why we strive to do the best job we can. But in order to stay in business we must charge fair prices. This allows us to hire good technicians and use good materials and equipment. One can always find a less expensive service, but would be naïve to believe that the cheapest service would also be the best. We are very sorry about the tax mix up. Confusion on this issue sometimes happens, as each area in Washington State has slightly different tax rates. Thanks to Member's note, we have taken steps to educate our technicians on this issue and prevent such mistakes from happening in the future.

They came and looked at our furnace and ducts and before they even started they sat down with me and high pressured me into spending another $600 to clean the furnace. I agreed to the furnace cleaning and then they sat down with me again and high pressured me into getting an ultra-violet light. They did not even have the light with them. They even asked me to go out and get an extension cord so they could reach the power source for the light when they would come out and install the ultra-violet light a week later. They also high pressured me into getting a special filter for the furnace which they also DID NOT HAVE and which cost me over $100! The filter came in the mail about 14 days later and was not the right size. When I called them they tried to say I was not putting it in the furnace correctly and were very rude. Finally they came out again and saw it did not fit and I ended up waiting another 2 weeks for the correct size of special filter. Then....about six months later my furnace stopped working. My son-in-law installs gas furnaces for a living so he came and took a look at it. Guess what?????The furnace stopped working because it was DIRTY! So my son-in-law cleaned it. I would warn anyone to not use these people! They do not know what they are doing. They are just trying to make money!!!! They got $1,600.00 out of me for NOTHING!!!! I was robbed! It really hurts to be taken advantage of like this!
Description of Work: We called this company for a duct cleaning with a coupon we found in a flyer. When they came out they said we needed additional work done.....$600 to clean the furnace and a special ultra violet light.....so.... a job we thought would cost under $100 was now well over $1000.00..... $1,600.00 plus tax
