They work quick but I was not happy with the service that they provided me. I feel that they overcharged and they didn't do a fair evaluation.Their accuracy was not good.

Forsythe Appraisals was a third party. We talked to a different group and they contracted Forsythe and they provided the data and the appraisal. I can't say anything bad about them. They met the time line and kept their appointment with us.

Had used this company before and had no problems, but this started off on the wrong foot from the beginning. The appraiser, Jared, had the flu on the day of the inspection and contacted us at the last minute to tell us he wasn't going to make it. This after arranging to have the day off to be there for the inspection. But these things happen I suppose. During the inspection, he made off handed comments that for a house like ours to sell in this bad market, we'd have to really upgrade the kitchen. Since we were only refinancing and not selling, we found it to be an odd comment for an appraiser to make. Appraisal came in and it was really low. Unrealistically low. Even in this declining market. It appraised lower than my tax assessed value - the first time since 1988! Since we are very careful to keep our home and yard looking good and current, we had a realtor friend of ours price it and then find us good comps within a mile of our home to show the average sales (not asking) price was higher than Forsythe's appraisal. Also provided MLCS listing of average drop in home values for my zip code. Forsythe's appraisal was twice the drop in value for my zip code. Gave all this information to Forsythe, and they just circled their wagons and said they stood by their appraisal, even though their previous appraisal 10 months earlier was substantially higher. Houses for my zip had declined by 8% in value since that last appraisal (done in Oct 2010) but their latest appraisal had it declining by nearly 20%, despite their previous appraisal comment that my house was in above average condition due to care and maintenance by owner. We just don't get it. If you make a mistake, own it and make it right. In the end, the mortgage company looked at all our data and decided to go with our suggested appraised value so it didn't jeopardize our loan. Kudos to our mortgage lender (Aimloan.com). Hisses to Forsythe - will never use them again.
