It went fine. I don't like spending $55 for them to tell us the chimney is clean, but that's not their fault.

Service was performed on time and was professional.

Initially they appeared like they were on the ball and showed up when they said they would. In looking at their bid and the company that we ended up using, they did not put a number on repairing the chimney. It is frustrating not to get a call back.

We have used them as sweeps before and had no problems, however we are not as satisfied with this larger repair. In putting up their scaffold, they paid no heed to our garden, crushing many plants and leaving a ton of debris (I would have expected them to use tarps at the very least to protect our plants) They also cut away half of our mature lilac tree without asking to make room for the scaffold and left the huge limbs for us to dispose of. Finally, when we used the fireplace, smoke filled the house. We are calling them to see if they can now fix this next problem, as it seems there is so much debris in the chimney that the damper cannot open fully. I'm not sure we would use them again - certainly not for a big job. The guys who did the work were friendly, but their friendliness did not cover for their disregard for our property and the fact that the fireplace now cannot be used, we would have rather saved the $3000 if it turned out we couldn't use it anyway.

Excellent service. Arrived on time. Friendly, courteous representative. Knowledgeable. Answered all questions. Worked efficiently and completed work in about one hour.

Chris called ahead of time to say about when he was arriving. He got right to work and worked quickly and efficiently. He made sure the work area was protected from soot and dust. Chris answered all questions I had concerning operation of the prefab unit, since I've never had one before. He showed me how to work the flues and advised on how often units should be cleaned. As far as I am able to judge, the work was done well.

Emerald City Chimney's employee was timely. They swept the chimney and left me a mess in both fire boxes to clean out. There was ash and debris left and dirt around the floor. I had to vacuum it out myself. I was told by the company that they would leave it clean. Sad for me, as I was hoping for better service. I did not call them, as I was just too tired (it was for a move). I am not even sure the person who cleaned it truly inspected it properly. I have had other companies before who left my fireplace spotless and gave me a more thorough report. Unfortunately, they were in Chicago. It was my first experience using Angie's List. I think I chose badly, though they were highly rated. They were not my first choice. My first choice was unavailable in the time frame I required. My fault in this was that I did not ask him to revacuum, as I did not notice it till he was gone that there was so much debris left in the firebox.

I appreciated their honesty. He came and said that it is clean and really didn't need to be done for a while yet. He installed 2 chimney caps that I didn't have. I was very, very pleased.

The cleaning was very reasonably priced and done efficiently. He was very honest about the items noted during the inspection. He let me know which items I need to take care of immediately and which can wait.

On time, polite, reasonably priced, but a quick inspection. I don't think inspector looked at the roof, gutters or smoke detectors as indicated on inspection report.

Emerald City performed quality work. They were fast and courteous. and they gave us a competitive bid.

Appointment was made for 1 week after we phoned. Following inspection, he gave our chimney a ''Satisfactory'' and pronounced it ''safe for use.'' We were relieved and impressed by their ''20 point safety inspection.'' They suggested annual inspections in future. (It is an older house.)

They were reliable, on time, and gave good service.

Aaron arrived during the time period promised. He cleaned and inspected the chimney pipe and surroundings. He also cleaned the fireplace prefab insert. He was very attentive to not getting the floor dirty and removed all debris. The job took less than an hour. The cost was less than quoted as insert was a prefab.

I asked him if he cut two branches as well. Took him 5 min. at most and he charged he me $50 for that. I thought that was terrible.

Chris arrived within the designated time frame and went right to work. He took great care to cover the rug near the fireplace and clean up afterwards. There was a lot of debris in the chimney, which he cleaned out entirely. I was pleased with his work and the price and would recommend this company to a friend.

They did great work. They were punctual and polite.

It was a fair price. They took care not to get any soot on my rugs and in my home. They let me know that the chimney caps were rotting out. They did fast work and cleaned up well.

Great company, would use them again in a heart beat. The scheduler was helpful, actually got the reminder call the day before that was promised.

He was on time, very polite and very thorough. I'd definitely recommend them again.

I called Emerald City for a second estimate. The first was from a S. Seattle company who wanted $700 to do repair, "waterproofing", capping, and some point repair just in order to get the chimney in working condition. Emerald city sent a very nice guy. Kind of like a "chimney nerd". He pointed out that the chimney was in fact clean, and didn't need the tasks listed by the first company. Explained how the chimney worked, and what needed to be done to have the chimney working. He had a cap right there, and installed it in 10 minutes for $100.

I scheduled the service call a week and a half in advance. Jill at the office called the day before the appointment to confirm. Chris, the tech, was prompt and courteous. He was mindful of bringing the ladder up from the outside instead of through the house. He gave us a full report on the condition of the chimney and the safety of the fireplaces. He repaired a hole in one of the fireplaces.

Our person was helpful, friendly and efficient. We paid $99 for the cleaning and $99 for the cap and installation. I highly recommend them.
