I needed my chimney cleaned prior to a fireplace insert being installed. I called Emerald City after finding them highly rated on Angie's List. They were able to fit me in quickly as my schedule was flexible. The dispatcher called me the day before to remind me of the appointment. The technician was prompt, polite and professional. My chimney was not very dirty but he also inspected it. He told me my chimney was in good condition and had been maintained properly (my house is 90 years old). He cleaned up well after he completed the work.

The finished product looks great! I am very happy with the work that was done. Bruce was prompt and very nice. My only complaint was that they trampled a few of my plants...maybe I should have moved or protected them, but no one mentioned to me that this was something I should do. They took responsibility for this, though, and discounted me a reasonable amount for the cost of replacing them.

Very fast response to request for bid; I then waited about four months and contacted them and they still had the paperwork and honored their prior estimate; they showed up on time, got right to work, performed job in the time they estimated (2 days); the chimney is now quite righteous and beautiful; some residual mess from grout, but don't think that can be avoided; quite pleasant guys, hard working; would recommend.

Mike was early for the appointment and called ahead to see if I was available. He evaluated both chimneys and determined that one definitely needed cleaning and one might need cleaning. Rather than push me to do the one that was borderline, he left the choice entirely up to me (I chose to have the cleaning done). He let me know that the chimney caps I have are antiquated and advised as to the cost of new ones. He let me know the benefits of the new ones but also noted that my old ones had been doing a pretty good job. He did not push me to buy them, but agreed to notate the items that we may wish to do in the future. The technician was very knowledgeable and helpful. I also got a $10 per chimney discount for mentioning Angie's list when I made the appointment.

A very frustrating experience. One of their guys came out last July (6 months prior to this writing), to bid on the project. He took one of our extra old bricks we had laying around to see if he could find matching ones, and said he'd get back to us. We never heard back. When I tried to re-establish contact last month, I called 4 times over 2 weeks, and never got a call back. Because of those multiple calls, we finally set up another visit to get a bid. I got a call the day of the visit to cancel because of illness. We rescheduled a week later, only to have another last minute cancel for reasons that are at this point unclear to me. I significantly changed my plans to accommodate both potential visits, staying in town both times. These guys seem reasonable on the phone (and in person, during the initial visit), but I am flabbergasted by their inability to follow through.

Mike called to alert us that he would be about an hour later than planned, but it didn't create a problem for us. He conducted the safety inspection and gave us a clean bill of health, but recommended a cleaning and installation of the caps. We were prepared for both suggestions, since the chimney had never been cleaned and caps were probably long overdue. He worked very efficiently and completed the job in a reasonable time. He did mention to us that he had left a few smudges of soot on the hearth. But the hearth was already due for a scrubbing, so we didn't insist that it be cleaned.

Went very well. Took several weeks to get them booked. They were friendly and professional and did a good job!

They were quick and speedy. It was an easy installation from the roof; two flues in one chimney. They did a good job as promised.

The experience went very well. I scheduled Emerald City Chimney to clean my chimney since it hadn't been cleaned in many years. When the rep arrived he checked things out and said my chimney didn't require cleaning but offered to glue a cap on top to keep the rain out. I appreciate the fact that he was honest, timely, and communicative.

1st part of job went well. The two workers that came back after the job to spray the sealer, I was not impressed with. Only after I reminded them I paid an extra $250 for the sealer/waterproofing and stood there watching them. They did a lot better job of spraying.

Arrived within the alloted time period. Nice guy. Told us he would have to kill the baby birds to get them out and he didn't want to do that. I liked that. Said only one chimney needed cleaning (the one without the birds). Cleaned it and cleaned up mess. Recommended caps on both chimneys and installed one on the chimney without the birds. Said to call for the second chimney cap when the birdies flew away. I have called and set up the appointment.

Workers arrived ahead of schedule slightly. They cleaned and inspected the chimneys. They recommend two chimney caps. One size they did not have with them, so they returned a couple of days later and installed it.

They are worry-free. Professional, friendly, and cleaned up the area afterwards.

Wonderfully! Absolutely phenomenal customer service. They arrived promptly (5 minutes early!) to give us a bid. We only had to wait a week for the work to be completed. The service was amazing and we are very happy with the work completed. They also stuck to the bid- to the penny! So the final cost was exactly what we thought it was going to be.

Chris was very nice; he inspected our chimney, cleaned and vacuumed our fireplace, and then got up on top of our house and completed sweeping the chimney. He was quite informative, assessing that the chimney hadn't been swept in about a decade and that it looked like a chimney fire had occurred several years ago (before we purchased the home). His assessment let us know the importance of having regular chimney sweeps and gave us good information to prevent future problems.

This is the second home that I've asked Emerald City to come and inspect and sweep multiple fireplaces on. What I like best is the honest assessment of the chimney and no pushiness towards doing unneeded work. Most of us homeowners would have no idea whether a sweeping needs to be done or not, and they tell you upfront whether you need it or not (I haven't needed it done yet). They did a fast, neat job of installing the caps I requested.

Aaron arrived a little late (I had the last appointment on a Friday), but he did not do a rushed job and probably wound up wrapping up a little after COB. He knew exactly what he's doing, was fast, and answered my questions about the state of the chimney, etc. He didn't have a cap that would fit my chimney in his van and neither did their warehouse (he checked over the phone). So I decided to pay for the cap in advance and have it installed at a later time, since it didn't require my being home. The advance payment was marked with prominent letters on the invoice. On Tuesday evening I found a note from Aaron on the door and the next morning I noticed the chimney cap shining on top of the chimney. Overall their price was a little higher that other bids I got but I don't mind paying extra for a quality job, which is what I inferred from the other reports on this site.

Very well. Their tech was prompt and efficient. Gave me a written estimate, laid out what all was wrong and installed a chimney cap all in about an hour. Inspections of the chimneys found no need for cleaning.

We were very happy with the work that was done. The contractor was on time, explained what he was doing and gave us our options on the dampers and caps. He ended up staying after the inspection to install the dampers and caps.

Very friendly main office made it easy to schedule the appointment - which was right on time. Aaron performed the work efficiently and thoroughly, explaining his process and thoughts along the way. He covered the floors with cloths, and cleaned up along the way. Was very friendly, good with the dog, and left behind some literature to help us maintain the chimney and troubleshoot the fireplace.

I read the excellent reviews of this company ahead of time, and I was not disappointed. They were truly professional, didn't charge me for the inspection, and even called ahead to let me know they were on their way. Showed up on time and did a great job. I'll definitely use them again.

I was thrilled. I know nothing about chimneys and had various concerns. It would have been very easy to sell me something I didn't need. I received a great deal of information, will proceed with the small repair suggested. I will have Emerald City check my chimneys every year!

I was very very impressed with them. The people were all very nice and courteous, appeared to know what they were doing, and did an excellent job. Having dealt with Emerald City Chimney, I wouldn't ever deal with anyone else again. They were significantly less than another bid that we had received, and far more knowledgeable.
