Initially when I contacted Ben at Black Lion from an Agies List Special Deal we had communications problems connecting. Once we finally fot a hold of Ben at Black Lion we were very pleased with the service we got. He cleaned our furnace and showed me how to replace the filters. We had a susequent problem with the water pump and I called Ben at 7:30AM on a Saturday and he returned my call by 8:30AM and replaced the pump that afternoon. I run a small business myself and I know how important customer service is. Ben went out of his way to give me excellant service. I will use him for any other service I have that his company can provide as well as recommend him to my friends and business associates. I was frustrated at first when we had trouble connecting with Bens company and I said so when Angies list followed up about the experience. As soon as Ben was made aware of my displeasure with my inability to connect, he reached out and made it right. I am even more impressed by his desire to make me a happy customer after I had given him a poor review on Angies List. I hope people take the time and read this amended review.

I bought a Big Deal voucher from Angie's List for a furnace tuneup. It was very easy to make an appointment. The technician was super helpful and thorough. He also didn't try to upsell me on anything. I'll definitely use them again in the future.

Jason was on time and very thorough. He even cleaned up the work area upon completion.

I purchased a coupon through Angie's list and was skeptical after hearing stories on the news about some companies sending out people to do service work and then try to tell you need additional services, repairs or equipment that were going to cost a whole lot more. That was NOT my experience with Black Lion Heating. I was very pleased with the service technician's promptness, the efficiency at which he worked and how he cleaned up when he was finished. Very professional. And no issues with the coupon or trying to sell more service, repairs or equipment. I'm a very happy camper!

We knew we needed to replace our furnace (just over 20 yrs old) but was hoping to make it through one more winter. Unfortunately, we began having problems with it and called the company that had been cleaning it for the past few years. They came out, "tuned" it up and told us that it might last this winter or not. The tech also told us there was a pipe clogged but wouldn't clean it unless we paid him another $150 (over the $160 we paid for the tune up). We opted not to do this since we decided that replacing would be the smart thing to do. It was still running (though not the best) so at least it would get us through until replaced. We then asked the tech to have a rep come and give us an estimate to replace the furnace. Our friend (an Angie's list member) told us we should join Angie's List to find some HVAC contractors to get estimates from. We joined and that's how we found Black Lion. We were impressed with their write-ups and decided to call them to come give us an estimate as well. We had estimates from both companies and must say that not only did Black Lion give us a much better estimate but also let us know about the rebates from our electric/gas provider and gave us an additional rebate on the furnace from the manufacturer. The customer service from Ben exceeded our expectations. Not only did he give us an estimate, he also unclogged the pipe and had the old furnace running better - AT NO CHARGE. We decided to hire Black Lion to replace the furnace and also had them replace our electric hot water tank with a gas tankless unit and had them plumb for a future gas fireplace and BBQ (the BBQ was not on the original estimate, my husband added that later during piping and Ben added it in (again, at no added cost). The crew was very customer focused, they were here for two days and always left everything neat and clean when they left. One of the crew (sorry, I can't remember his name) showed us how to adjust the hot water tank, how to replace the filter in the furnace and gave us a few simple maintenance tips. They even had to come back the following Tuesday because the city inspector couldn't make his Friday appointments. They were here bright and early on Tuesday, met with the inspector and got everything signed off. We are so impressed with this company that we have told everyone what great service we have received and even given out a couple business cards that Ben had left with us. We are thoroughly enjoying the new furnace and hot water that doesn't run out. THANKS BLACK LION FOR THE EXCELLENT SERVICE!

Ben, the owner came out within 12 hours, after I called in a panic the evening before. Ben knew I had to work, and he came by at 6:00 am in the morning. He was cordial, professional, and didn't try to sell me a new furnace. He informed me that the furnace was good, but it was the installation that wasn't so good. I'd I purchased a so called "high efficiency" furnace 6 years ago from another company. He ordered the part, and within 2 days the part came in and they were out to install. Furnace even sounds better. I also took advantage of a furnace tuneup, Angie"s List and the co. offered. I am a warm, happy customer.

Like clockwork, crew showed up when scheduled, performed work as promised in a timely professional manor. Ben has been accessible when any communication was necessary. I am a general contractor by trade and will hang on to Black Lions number as the first HVAC contractor to call when those needs arise.

Ben exemplifies over the top old-fashioned service excellence! Saturday morning, furnace not working, called Ben. Within 10 minutes, he was at our house! Within 5 minutes of arriving, he had diagnosed the problem, replaced the ignitor and we had our heat restored. All at an extremely reasonable service call fee with NO "emergency" fee added. Highly recommend you call Black Lion - you will be as impressed.

We purchased an Agies List Big Deal to have our furnace cleaned and inspected. Black Lion performed this service in a timely and professional manner then explanined that we'd be needing a new furnace within the next few years due to it's beginning to rust out (it's 16 years old). He further explained that because of the current warranty still in effect, that we'd get substantial refund if the service were to be done now and he'd deduct the payment for the Big Deal as well. There was no pressure but good information resulting in our decision to put in a new furnace. The new furnace was installed within the week. These employees were as personable and professional as our original technician. Before leaving, they even volunteered to check on the well being of our other gas appliances and gas lines. Needless to say, we were extremely impressed with Black Lion Heating!

Black Lion's initial inspection was hastily scheduled. He was able to accommodate a visit the next day. (We are located in Kent--10 miles south of Seattle--and Black Lion is located in Everett, 30+ miles north of Seattle.) His schedules and mine matched for that day. I was working at home and he was in the south end. We set a window and he was able to come by. The initial inspection took less than an hour. On the day of installation, Black Lion's two workers were at our resident on-time in the morning and had all the materials necessary to begin the work. The 20-year old water heater (also natural gas fired) was removed and the new Noritz tankless unit installed, vented, and tested. Construction of the vent line was relatively straight-forward but not a simple task. The workmen obviously took care in its construction to make it look good as well as functional, especially where it exited outside. The finished vent is not instrusive to the eye. (We have a high-efficiency furnace that was installed 4 years ago, and its venting is merely functional.) I forgot to get their names, but they were both courteous, professional, and thoughtful in coming up with solutions to work challenges. And they left the work site cleaner and more attractive than when they had started (and I had thought I had done a good job of clearing and cleaning the area for them the day before!) When testing the unit, a small hiccup developed which required a little extra time to troubleshoot; they explained the situation to me and corrected it. They went through the retest with me and spend longer than just a quick run-through to inform me of the unit's operation, capabilities, and maintenance requirements. In the end, I was comfortable with what they did and confident the problem was resolved. Overall, the job took a little more than 6 hours to complete, including the cleanup inside te house and outside. Almost a month later, the Nortiz unit performs flawlessly. We haven't tried to use more than two hot water demands at once; although we were told that this unit could handle the larger volume demand. We haven't received the utility bill yet so we can't comment on savings. We wish we had done this much sooner. We are very satisfied with the work Black Lion performed and would have no trouble using them again or recommending them to others. UPDATE: After 7 months with the Nortiz, everything still works flawlessly and we are even more pleased with it and the work performed. We have tried to test the volume demand, but the Noritz beats our expectations.

He was here on time and very personable. He explained just what he was doing and showed me how to change the filters.

It took a couple of calls but the man eventually showed up, ontime, serviced the gas furnace (not sure what all this includes) he reported the furnace was in good condition and should last for some more years.

I had excellent service from Ben and his crew. They were quite knowledgeable, timely and great to work with. I thought I smelled gas a week or so later and they immediately came out to check for a leak. They didn't find any but did a thorough inspection of my entire gas heating and air condition system as well as the tankless hot water system. They didn't find a leak but I also don't smell gas anymore!

We have two forced air heater units in our home, one servicing the ground floor and one the second story. The ground floor unit was checked by Ben and found to be working fine. The upstairs unit was not working and needed to be replaced. A crew of two came out the following Monday, replaced the unit and disposed of the old one. They were very polite, cleaned up everything and gave us some recommendations about our exhaust units on the roof. They replaced one part of that, and told us what to do to complete the improvement. They were great!

After reading Angie'sList reviews, I purchased the special $69 coupon to have my furnace cleaned during the busy time for this kind of work. Originally, I had telephoned the company that had installed the furnace I was startled at the high cost oftheirservice and was told that the price would only come down 'in the spring, after their busy time'. I then began to explore Angie's List! I received a timely phone call from Black Lion after my coupon purchase. We set up an appointment for within a few days. Jason arrived on time, was professional, and seemingly thorough, and very pleasant. He happily answered my questions. I would definitely hire them if and when I need further work. I would recommend them to one and all.

Our water heater died over the weekend. After being charged $160 for one of those "Out Today" HVAC companies to confirm it was broken, they quoted an astronomical price to replace it. Being stressed to the max and already worried about the cost, we consulted Angie's List and found Black Lion offering a reasonable rate for a water heater install. I called and spoke with Ben who was incredibly professional and caring. They were extremely prompt in returning phone calls even on a Sunday and offered to come out the very next day. They made sure we were happy and taken care of. I would recommend them highly to both family and friends. It is rare to get such prompt and caring service anywhere today.
