Updates Furnace had another problem today so had some other guy come in to take a look. It's just been a couple months or so, but the inside of the furnace is very dusty. Don't remember the burning dust smell after cleaning as well. It was probably poorly cleaned. --- I bought the coupon here for furnace tune-up. The guy came and got the job done; suggested to replace a new ignitor saying it's old, but can be deferred since it's still working. Also he saw some ducts loose in the basement, fixed it in 5 minutes for free, really appreciated it!

I contacted them online. They got back to me quickly and a few emails later (within an hour) the appointment was set for two days later. They were right on time and gave the furnace a tune-up quickly and efficiently. Apparently the furnace filter that I had just replaced, was replaced by them...which is a little frustrating, but I'll know that for next time.

I got the service as an Angies Big Deal. They were very responsive and timely in getting back to me to set up a date. They were punctual on the day of service. They gave the furnace a clean bill of health.

We are very impressed with this company! They have been out 3 times. Each time we have been very impressed with them! We will continue to use them in the future!

Tech was prompt, professional, and efficient. Provided written summary of all work done, reminder for AC check in spring. There was no attempt to pressure-sell additional services. Because of this good experience, I will definitely use for future HVAC services.

I went for the big deal to have my gas heater serviced for $75. He came out exactly on time and spent about 30-40 minutes to clean and inspect the system and change the air filter. I was a bit concerned because we haven't had it serviced for 15 years. I changed filters but that's all. Anyway we got a clean bill of health. Every thing is running good and I'll have it cleaned again next year. No sales talk, no BS.

Patrick the technician was on time, very professional, thorough and clearly presented what he found was the problem and how he fixed the problem. He then reviewed the entire system in the home and made minor changes to it and presented his observations and potential furture recommendations based upon his review and thorough and diligent testing / diagnosis of the performance of the heating / air distribution. I was very pleased and will definitely use him in the future.

I wish that I had remembered to ask them to put a drain pan underneath the new water heater. I think they should have suggested that. One of our neighbors with the same floor plan as ours had their hot water heater fail and tip just a bit, but it tipped in the direction of the house and ruined a lot of hardwood flooring. Another neighbor had a similar thing happened, so I wanted to have the drain pan to help alleviate water damage to our hardwoods and have the overflow go out the garage in the event there was a water heater failure.

In general, the work was performed well, and quickly. I called to get the work done around 5:30 AM, and he was out here by 8AM, and done with the work by 9AM. Pretty impressive! Less impressive, however, was charging me $500 for a Mars 10466, and telling me I can install it myself when I pointed out the cost seems too high compared to what I can buy it for online ($150, and $350 seems a little high for tax and an hour of labor). Gouging someone to fix their heater in freezing weather is not cool, and I'm disappointed that a provider with such good reviews would do that. Update: I did receive a follow-up call from them, and got a more detailed breakdown of the costs, an assurance that that's not usually how they address customer concerns and won't in the future, and an annual maintenance contract for the trouble. It might still be on the high side of what I would have expected, but the responsiveness and quality of the work is such that it's clearly worth it - you usually do get what you pay for, after all!

It was good. I liked their price. The installers were really good.

They showed up on time and finished on time. I had singed a contract with washington energy services, but then they tried upsell me and refused to honor the contract. I contacted Black Lion and they came out within a day or two to give me an estimat.they hooked me up with a much better system for nearly the same price. The system is working great. So far the heat pump is heating our house even withe temps. down into the teens.

We gathered quotes from about 5 different contractors for this project. Black Lion's quote was the most competitive, and their sales representative (Brian) seemed very knowledgeable. Our house sits close to the lot line, so we were worried that we wouldn't be able to install A/C at all due to the City's code requirements. Brian thought we'd be OK installing a slimline unit behind the garage because we already had a bump-out for our gas fire that stuck out very close to the fence.He was also very quick to respond to emails and adjusted our quote a couple of times based on questions and additional services (tuning up the furnace & fireplace). We decided to go ahead and do the work, and they were able to fit us in the next week.When the contractor came to install he said that it actually couldn't go there because nothing could be less than three feet from the property line. Luckily it turned out to be fine along the side of the garage (rather than behind it), and the fact that we were using a slimline unit made it be far away enough from the lot line to cause any code problems. So it worked out.The installation took most of the day, and went very smoothly. The installer did a very neat job and left the garage tidy. He also serviced the furnace, but wasn't able to service the fireplace because he didn't know much about them. He said that Black Lion would be in touch to schedule that, and also the city inspections.This is where Black Lion lose the most points. I had to phone them to ask when the fireplace guy would be coming, and then when I asked about the city inspections they seemed slightly surprised that I wanted them to arrange it. They were happy to do it, and scheduled everything (although didn't phone me to confirm the inspection dates like I asked). This was only a minor annoyance though, and it's possible they would have called me eventually. I just like to get things done quickly!When the fireplace technician arrived he did the service very quickly and professionally. He was also an A/C guy, so was able to answer a couple of questions that I had, and also made a couple of quick fixes that I requested there and then. I would definitely recommend Black Lion.

Of the 6 different quotes I received for a ductless heat pump, Black Lion was by far the least expensive for the best product (Mitsubishi). The installers arrived right on time and had the job finished in about 4-5 hours, just as they promised. They were clean, courteous and efficient. The only negative comment I would make was there was no follow up after the job was done, aside from a "thank you" card that was mailed to me 2 weeks later. I didn't receive a call after installation to see if I had any comments or questions, and I got very vague instructions about having someone from the city come out to check the electrical work. I was expecting a follow up call within a week of the job, but after waiting 2 weeks, I ended up having to call them to get my questions answered. Aside from that, though, Black Lion did a great job and I'm very happy with their work and product.

Beyond satisfied with every part of this project. We obtained 3 estimates. One was eliminated immediately due to price being almost double. Of the two remaining bids - which were very close in price, we opted to go with Black Lion for several reasons. 1) Promptness, professionalism and knowledge of the person who did the bid. 2) The ratings of Bryant furnaces at consumer reports. 3) We received a follow up call from Black Lion a few days after the bid to see if we had any further questions about the bid. 4) Positive AngiesList reviews. Black Lion replaced our 25 year old furnace and installed Air Conditioning which we did not previously have. A/C required new wiring, ducting, pad outside for unit to sit on, etc. The old furnace did not have proper intake vent (hope that's the right wording??) resulting in too warm 2nd floor and too cold basement. Black Lion added an intake vent on the 2nd floor. Complicated project due to the lay-out of our house with furnace room in the basement. It required them to do some work from the attic and take up a small part of an existing closet on the 1st floor but it was a great solution and did make an improvement in temperature variation between floors. This project was probably more than one day of work and temps were mild enough that we were okay with them returning the next day to finish but they stayed late into the evening and got the job done. If you prefer that they not be working in the evenings you should probably specify that up front, but for us it was not an issue. The crew were all very polite and professional. They were especially nice to our over-friendly elderly black lab who kept getting underfoot, settling in to nap right in the middle of the action and following them around wagging for a pat on the head. I give them bonus points for this! Black Lion coordinated all the appropriate people to show up at the appropriate times, duct cleaning, inspectors, etc. Everything went like clock work. They did return the following day to finish up some clean-up work. A day or two after the work was complete we received a call from the owner asking about our satisfaction with the work and he scheduled a time to check the work himself. On his visit, he noted a few things that he wanted them to come back and touch-up and we also had noticed a few odds and ends. One item for example - from the top of the upstairs stairwell one could see the shiny silver duct behind the intake vent cover. When they returned, they painted the inside black. Now nothing can be seen through the vent, it's just dark. We are very satisfied with the bid process, the work, the professionalism, the follow-up and the price and have recommended them to friends.

It went very, very well! We actually upgraded to have new furnace installed with the A/C. They were very responsive and Ben, the project manager, was very nice and professional every time I spoke with him. They were actually supposed to come install it and the box arrived destroyed so he ordered a whole new one to make sure it wasn't damaged.

The deficiency was the technician did not understand how our filter system worked and put it back together incorrectly. After he left and ran the furnace, we had to take it apart and fix it. It was thumping like a squirrel was trying desperately to escape our air filter by flinging itself against the walls.

We ended up getting a refund on this deal because the provider couldn't come to our house to remove our old water heater a few days before installing the new one. We're doing a remodel and needed the schedule this way, but the provider charges extra for this. We found a better deal using our general contractor. I wasn't too happy with the price, but they didn't do any work for us, so I can't comment on the quality of work.

Kevin the Sales Rep. for Black Lion arrived on time ( Huge on my list ) , he was prepared and seemed very experienced . Several other companies had tried to convince us that Wall Hanging zone systems were the way to go ( We have a Two story home and getting the duct work upstairs required a lot of extra work over the wall hangers ). When we told Kevin we didn't want anything hanging on the wall and that registers / vents were the only thing we wanted to see ( or hear ) in the house. He started making a proposal for us and didn't keep trying to convince us otherwise . Kevin had a proposal and bid with several systems ready in two days , we made the decision and scheduled a meeting with Ben ( The Boss and the onsite Forman ) and his team to walk the house and be sure the people doing the actual job agreed with the plan. The Install team arrived ready to go to work on day and time scheduled , Ben brought a large crew the first day to knock out the intrusive part of the job ( ducting and cutting the vents in the house ) , wrapped that part up the first day ( not to mention they vacuumed and picked up every scrap ) . Two days later the system was ready to fire up and inspections were called in ( Black Lion handled all of the permits and submission of rebates with PUD ), Ben personally met with the inspectors , the Inspectors were all familiar with Black Lions quality and told me I had made the right choice going with them .

Punctual. Professional. A job well done.

Went well overall but wanted me to pay the sales tax after the water heater was installed. This was not disclosed in the ad. I felt that was not being upfront.

Bought a"deal" for hot water heater with installation. They were easy to schedule with, showed up on time, put in the new heater, took away the old one. Easy! The fire alarm went off from the sodering and one of the workers came out later to check that everything was OK.

Showed up as scheduled, did the work efficiently, left cleanly.
