Everett, technician, came out and did a diagnostics and cleaned out our furnace and heat pump. This didn't resolve our issue and it turned out to be the compressor. This is a very costly part and we both agreed that it wouldn't be worth it to replace the compressor since our system was 8 years old. It made more sense to spend the money towards a new heat pump and get it replaced. Everett said the next availability for the installers to come out was a week out. We had already been without air conditioning for 4 days and having to wait for another week while the weather was hot and humid was not the ideal situation. Everett went above and beyond and said he would clear out his schedule and do the install himself early the following week so we didn't have to wait. This is exemplary customer service at it's best as this is not even part of his job. He completed the install as scheduled and we had air conditioning that same night. Throughout this whole process, Everett and the front desk called and gave me updates to notify me when he was on his way, running a little late, checking to ensure the system was running properly, and confirming they registered my warranty. He also answered my many questions that I had. Besides being very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, Everett remembered the names of my son and dog and ensured he paid attention to them. These little things go a long way with me and I just can't say enough good things about him. He is the best!!

I had three other companies diagnose the symptoms our furnace had been having, and all volunteered confidence in different 3 different diagnosis that they could not show evidence to support. Black Lion found the cause and showed it to me (heat exchanger leak). So I had black lion install a new furnace for me. They also added a capacitor add-on kit to my old air conditioning compressor, to postpone replacing it. In my most recent semi-annual service, Anish was the service tech, and he did a more thorough service then I have ever seen. He explained aspects of my electronic air filter that were important for me to understand, and why I need to clean it myself between their visits to prolong its life.

I received an estimate from Adis on a Friday only 3 days after requesting one, and he was sympathetic to me having a hot tub delivered that Saturday that I wouldn't be able to use, he pulled some strings and got me an appointment for the following Monday! Matt and his helper Garret were amazing, they gave me options on different ways that the project could turn out. They left zero mess and everything looks and works great. Black Lion came in at half of some of the other bids I got, and did zero damage to my walls which other companies told me was unavoidable. What a great experience!!!

They said, there are some parts that is needed to be replaced, the technician said that a remme halo part will need to be replaced, but he said he only had 1 in the truck and it was for personal use. so he has to come back the next day to replace the remme halo on my furnace. I had tried to call the company, to talk to a supervisor, and they agreed to reimburse me my purchase for the overpriced remme halo but haven't returned back me back the money yet. I called the woman i talked to before, but she said they haven't processed the refund yet because they have to compute how much was the amount of the refund yet. She told me that after they come back, they will process a refund that day. She advised me that a discussion with a supervisor for the actual refund amount. I was told that they will be calling me back so many times, and then Jason called and told me that a check has already been made. When I asked if how much was the check, he has to call back on the amount and when he called back, Jason said about &100 something dollars. Jason was very rude and condesending. Basically they still have to refund me the 1 year maintenance contract that was purchased for this years service., they sent a check with a wrong amount, and we haven't cashed in the check yet because of the wrong amount.

Call to office led to prompt appointment and salesman (Kyle) arrived on time. I explained the project and he said all the right words. Promised proposal in 2 days. When it not received, I called back the next week to expedite and it came the following day. It contained 2 options and but little information about what was being offered. I email a request for an explanation of the 2 options. No response. Black Lion is not a small mom & pop operation. They have a office/shop in Kirkland, lots of shiny trucks and successful enough to advertise on KOMO radio. So it is surprising that they would go to the expense of making a proposal and then not be able/willing to follow up. Maybe they're too busy or just disorganized. I moved on to a different HVAC contractor.

It seems more often than not, goods and services just aren't what they used to be. Even when you show some motivation and make an attempt to research and put a little effort into getting the best result - there are times when you still end up unhappy with the quality of the work, or the price ends up being almost twice what was quoted. That was definitely NOT the case with Black Lion. I would highly recommend them. First of all, my water tank had already failed so there was limited time for research. Honestly, I chose BL because of the amount of positive reviews and the fact that they had a coupon with a set price for an installed water heater. The person who set up the appointment and dispatched the technician was polite and helpful. The tech was on time, courteous, professional, and clean. I was there to let the repairman in and help him remove the old tank ( I volunteered, and was not asked). I had to return to work before he had finished, but when I came home to inspect everything was done and done well. And I didn't have to clean up any mess, the entire area was totally clean. Everything was great for about a day and then all of the sudden I had no more than a trickle of hot water anywhere in the house. I called Black Lion and they sent someone out within a few hours. Turns out that even though they were diligent in flushing the pipes of any sediment from the old hot water tank, there was still some remaining in the plumbing and screens of the faucet and shower fixtures. The tech flushed the lines again and removed and cleaned all the screens in the bathroom and kitchen faucets. Twice. Just to make sure there would be no more call backs. And there haven't been. Great job, from re-using the existing duct work and making it look as though it was original, down to properly and strapping the tank and cleaning up afterwards. A nice experience.

Furnace technician came on a Saturday (12/8/18) and said we needed a new blower motor. He did not have one and would call to locate one on Monday at 7:30 a.m and give us a call. He also informed us that we would have to pay the whole bill right then before they did any work which was $1,020.86. I was not very comfortable with that and questioned him about it. He said it was company policy to require the full amount up front if they have to order a part. When we did not get a call by 10 a.m. on Monday we called and they said they would let the tech know we wanted info. an hour later we still had no call. We called again and said we would like to speak to a manager. The manager said he did not know anything but would try to contact the tech. He calls us back and said he can't contact him and would try to help us. We finally were told they had ordered a part and it would be here Tuesday or we could opt to install a rescue motor which they could install tonight. We said go ahead and install the rescue motor. They came out, worked on the furnace then told us that it would not work. In the meantime they had cancelled the motor that was scheduled to come on Tuesday. They informed us they will have to re-order motor and get back to us when it comes in. We called them on Thursday morning and the manager said it had come in. Apparently it came in on Wednesday but nobody called us to schedule. They finally came out on Friday (12/14/18) and installed the motor. From my perspective, once they have your money they are in no hurry to fix your furnace. Even when its cold in December. Very poor customer service!!

Great!! They scheduled an appointment very promptly which I appreciated as I had no power to both of my bathrooms. I was extremely pleased with the service I received. I had some ongoing electrical issues in my house which in the past I was told were big problems but the serviceman from Black Lion identified them as being minor and fixed them immediately. He was professional and skilled but additionally empathic about the stress having issues in my house was causing me which is rare these days with servicemen. I highly recommend them.

It was clearly time to replace the 1987 oil furnace. I decided on a Mitsubishi heat pump and air handler. Black Lion's quote was higher than most others, but I went with them because of the confidence of the salesman and the apparent good reviews from elsewhere. In hindsight, I see that I should have chosen a contractor who is more familiar with my neighborhood, and homes of a certain age (mine is c. 1925). I would also NOT allow JJ and DJ back to do any more work in my home. The workers (JJ and DJ) arrived about an hour late, which they attributed to traffic coming into Seattle. BL is primarily located on the east side. They took only one day to do the install. At the end of the day, there were a few things I was unsatisfied with but could live with. For instance, the water heater was not centered on the insulation pad. The new duct work is crooked and with several unneeded patches. The air handler is not square with the lines of the house. I had to read the instruction manual for the thermostat, and program the settings myself (for example, selecting "home" instead of "commercial" and choosing an air speed). The first installation blocked access to the electric meter. BL sent a different team to replace the coolant lines to a better location, and adjusted the water heater position to be fully centered on the insulation pad. The Seattle city inspector failed the second installation. (There were problems related to the coolant lines, which could cause water build up in the walls if not corrected. And part of the system was not electrically connected.) BL sent JJ and DJ back to replace the coolant lines. I had a bad feeling about this; should have asked for more experienced and careful guys to continue this work. They are very nice, but, not yet competent. The replaced line burst when I turned the system back on; oil dripped on the floor and lots of greenhouse gas released. A fitting flare connecting the coolant lines was not made (at all), causing the line to break when it was pressurized. BL sent a 3rd team back to fix the coolant lines again. This was three weeks into the project, and by now I had read all of the installation manuals. We fully tested the system, according to the instructions, and finally put it into operation. Misubishi recommends a 2-day installation for various reasons. Certain tests (e.g. pressurizing the coolant lines to detect leaks) should be done overnight. I did not expect to pay a premium price, but learn so much of the details of heat pump installation.

The estimate was timely, about 30% above competitors. Took 2 weeks to schedule an installer. Was supposed to arrive at 8am, arrived at 9:30, same guy as gave the estimate. He said that he was there to give another estimate and would not be able to install the fans. Nice, I wonder what I might have done with that time, ah yes, not had to take a personal day!

Technician was early, called to see if I could accommodate and it was good news for me so said yes. He was very friendly and helpful, answering questions and doing a great job. It'd been three years since my last service, he reminded me it's better to do it annually, and gave me some tips for keeping the AC working well. I'll use these guys again.

We have used Black Lion since they bid on and installed our AC unit 2 years ago. I called them this week because the AC wasn't cooling the house (and it was above 90 outside). From my initial phone call to the completion of the work everyone I had contact with at Black Lion was very professional. They figured out what the problem was(cottonwoods!) and fixed it. Worst experience I have had with an HVAC company. I paid $4000 to have them replace my furnace. They did that but never mentioned an issue with missing returns in my house. They scheduled an appointment for a Monday with a window of 9-11. I took time off from work that morning so I could be home and called them twice during the window. No one showed up. Finally, they said the ETA was 2pm. My wife went back home but by 3:15 no one had showed up. I finally called them and cancelled the appointment. One word of advice - DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY.

Price was 2-3 times as expensive as other quotes (they wouldn't give me an estimate for the work, or even an hourly rate...they charge "by the job"). They did give me a range for "troubleshooting, which really meant nothing. Total was over $1,100 to replace a 50 amp GCI and about 10 feet of replacement wiring for hot tub. Total was less than 3 total hours, on two trips. First visit was for "troubleshooting" ($193 and none of it applied to any work), but they were on time. The second visit (required since the "troubleshooting: failed to disclose a wire problem) they missed the 2 hour service window (with no call) and were 1 1/2 hours late

Excellent sales process. Didn’t try to sell us more than we needed or wanted. Was thorough in calculating what size system we needed. Worked with us to ensure the AC was placed where we desired. Installation was great. The two technicians worked incredibly hard and did a really good job making sure it was installed in a clean way. They clearly took pride in their work and were patient with my questions. The front office helped set up all the city inspections and had a crew arrive day of inspection to coordinate with the inspector. Everything passed without issue.
