I am NOT pleased with the repairs or the response from the company owner. I DO NOT recommend this company. I contacted AMP for an estimate of repair of trim work on my townhouse. I live in a townhouse community and had just been informed by the board that this work was not covered by our homeowners dues, leaving homeowners to pay for the repairs. I went to Angie's List to find a recommended company for this work. Via Angie's List I contacted Mark Ross of Action Maintenance and Painting. He is located in my town, and was very prompt in his response to my request. He stated he understood the weather conditions of this area and recommended cedar for the repairs. He was prompt in sending me an estimate, which clearly states "5/4 cedar" as the material to be used. Additionally, through my recommendation via Angie's List, I gave his contact information to many of my neighbors. I contacted AMP on the Friday prior to my scheduled work (Monday, May 16, 2016) to confirm when the work would begin. I intentionally and directly scheduled work to be done on a Monday because I home that day. I was informed that the worker would be there between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. By 9:30 AM no one had arrived and I called AMP. I was told by Heather that she would contact the worker. She called back to say that he had already been to the house to take measurements but he didn't feel the weather was conducive to the work. Since I had been outside since 8:00 AM digging-up/moving plants away from the work area and no one had been there that morning, nor had anyone knocked on the door to let me know he was there, and so far the day was sunny and dry, I did not believe he was being truthful. And if he felt he couldn't do the job that day due to "possible rain", why wouldn't he, or the company, call me and let me know of the change of plans? As stated above, I had SPECIFICALLY arranged my schedule to be at home that day so that I would be there while the work was being done. The worker, Jeremy, showed by around 10:30 AM, very apologetic for the "confusion". He stated, "I came around 7:30 AM, but because I worked in Beverly Hills for years, I am used to not knocking on doors too early." This I simply don't believe. But he felt obviously felt it was OK to NOT contact his boss or me, the customer, to say he was not showing up for the actual scheduled work day. He seemed fine when he started the work, tearing off the Hardy Plank and exposing the house to the elements, but within 30 minutes he was coughing and said he was sick and had to leave. I contacted AMP to let them know Jeremy had left work due to "illness". And even this is OK, if he was truly ill I don't want him around the house, but why show up and start a job, knowing you won't finish? If he had simply stayed away that day I would have rescheduled the work. Unfortunately, he had already started the work and returned the next day, when I wouldn't be home. He arrived prior to me leaving for work, and I went over the work to be done. He was not aware of the actual work order, and I showed him my estimate from Mr. Ross and went over the areas to be fixed. Once again, I was VERY SPECIFIC about the repair work, in particular a long belly band that needed to be replaced. This band expands across the front of the unit, without a seam. It runs the full width between my townhouse and one attached to mine. Mr. Ross and I had previously spoken about this repair, agreeing that the entire board (~20 feet in length) would be replaced rather than simply cutting out the middle, rotten portion because it would disrupt continuity and create an unappealing aesthetic. I was very clear with Jeremy that this entire board was to be replaced because doing it in piece -meal fashion would create too many seams and simply not look professional. His response was, "I'll have to get help to do that." I informed him that I was paying for this work (NOT my neighbors, despite this being a "shared" board between our units) and I wanted the entire board replaced. My boyfriend was present for this interaction and heard me give this direction. When I came home that evening, I found an 8 inch shim of board glued, via caulk, along the edge of a vertical piece of trim. It had obviously been broken off somehow and he tried to glue it back in place. There was also another chunk of an vertical piece of trim gouged out on post. It was filled with caulk! And this caulk was oozing out of the hole! He did not even try to repair it properly with End Rot! Boards don't match up well and the difference is compensated for with caulk. The Z-flashing over the skirt band does not sit flush with the house (it is movable). These particular areas are on the south side of the house and get the most weather, which is one reason why they rotted in the first place. Mr. Ross also said they rotted because the builder used Fingerling Pine. This is why he specifically said that he would use cedar (again, as written on my estimate). I contacted Mr. Ross about the glued shim and the hole filled with caulk. He came to the house, with Jeremy, to see the poor work. Jeremy's response was, "I was trying to save you money." HE SPLIT THE WOOD! HE CREATED THE DAMAGE! IT WAS HIS RESPONSIBILITY TO PROPERLY FIX WHAT HE BROKE! Appropriate repairs were discussed (replace the entire vertical trim board on the house, fill the hole on the post with End Rot and paint over it). I agreed to this. I returned home late that day to find the discussed repairs completed, but because it was late, and because I expected the work to be done properly, since Mr. Ross had directed the repairs, I didn't look very closely. However, what I did notice was a 4 - 5 foot length of board leaning up against the front of the house. I feared that Jeremy was not following directions to replace the entire belly board, and I contacted Mr. Ross in the morning to make sure we were all on the same page with the repairs. I was informed that because the job would take 2 people, and because they had "spoken with my neighbor and she was OK with only replacing the rotted portion because it would be cheaper" they (Jeremy, Mr. Ross) agreed to replace only the rotted portion. THIS WAS NOT THE INSTRUCTIONS I GAVE THEM! Why did they think it was OK to take the lazy, easy way after I gave them specific directions on the repairs? I was the one being billed for that repair, even though it spans both units. I agreed to pay the extra cost for the replacement of the full length of board. Mr. Ross backtracked on his response, agreeing with me that "it will look better, especially when you go to sell the house". I had to scramble and call my neighbors and assure them that I was paying for this repair. Mr. Ross insisted that I call him back immediately, because "I want to get Jeremy onto other work." ( I was late to work because of all this unnecessary telephoning!) They were more interested in just doing the job, getting paid, moving onto the next job, but NOT doing it properly or professionally! Within the next day I more closely inspected the work done on the back of the house (the skirt band, the Z-flashing, the vertical trim boards). I see that boards DO NOT match up well. Boards are cut improperly (too short) and the difference in length is filled via caulk. The gutter, attached to the back post, had been left disconnected. I had to reattach it because it was beginning to rain. I also found out, from Jeremy, that the material use is primed Spruce... NOT cedar! He said, "It's the same material used by the builder, and the grain matches up." I called Mr. Ross and asked him why he didn't use cedar. He denied he ever said he would it use cedar. I pointed out that this is what is written on my estimate. He responded, "That's odd I would say that. I usually just list 'materials' ". He also commented that the wood grain of the primed Spruce "matches what is already on the house". Actually, it doesn't. You can definitely see a difference in the grain. And the boards are not the same thickness as the originals. They do not line up flush with boards that were not replaced. As noted above, at the time of the estimate, Mr. Ross told me, and a neighbor who was also getting a work estimate from AMP, that the builder used Fingerling Pine. So if the builder actually used primed Spruce, WHY would AMP the same material as the builder, which is obviously inferior and does not hold up to the weather of the PNW? I never received a bill from AMP. I figured that Mr. Ross was embarrassed by the poor quality of work and not using the materials listed on the estimate, and was not billing me. Other neighbors who employed AMP (some with acceptable results, others with results the same as mine), had been billed. But today I received a call from AMP about an "outstanding bill". I stated I never received a bill and reported my unhappiness with the quality of work and materials. I was told Mr. Ross would be informed. I received a bill via e-mail and the total is OVER the estimated amount, even with the inferior wood. Original Estimate (with cedar) $1200 - $1500. Actual billed cost (with primed Spruce and poor work quality) $1585.74. Needless to say, I am not paying for any work done at this time because it is not of the quality promised. If Mr. Ross would directly oversee "repairing the repairs" with cedar, within the estimated amount, and with a qualified, quality carpenter, that would be acceptable. The previous workers (Jeremy, Arnie) are NOT acceptable. Also, I don't know what they did to my front garden, but they killed my daphne plant. It was a full grown, established plant in full bloom at the time of the repairs. After their work on the front of the house, it was dead within a week.

Action Maintenance provided wonderful service in providing expert knowledge to the siding issues of my townhouse. Replacing the siding and painting the townhouse was accomplished in a timely, efficient and professional manner. The only reason Action received a "B" in the "Professionalism" category is that perfect scores (all A's) are often interpreted as not genuine. I will call Action again when I have repai

Description of Work: We had a partial exterior paint job done that included two large painted cedar siding walls and some fascia trim. Employees were exceptionally friendly and courteous. Painters were quite punctual, but power washer was a few hours late and I didn't find that out until the morning he was to be here. At least I was notified. My biggest complaint is that at times I felt like I was the on-site project foreman, explaining what parts of the house needed painting per the contract. In fact on the last day, the painters had started packing up (thinking the project was finished) when I asked them if they were returning to finish the project. I then pointed out to them what still needed to be completed regarding the fascia. I would use this company again, but I feel communication between the owner/estimator and the actual work team needs improvement. Perhaps the work team should have a better knowledge of the contract BEFORE arriving at the work site. I shouldn't be the one telling them what needs to be done.

They were awsome to work with. They communicated really well. I was also impressed with how promptly they got the work done. It took them about two weeks to replace each roof which is typical for that kind of work.
