Puget Sound Moving Inc

Moving Companies, Piano Movers, Storage

About us

Puget Sound Moving started with two rental trucks, including equipment and supplies. As of today, less than four years in, we own eight trucks. We have grown at a great pace. Considering the economy, the housing market and the competitive nature of the moving business, we are grateful to be where we are, yet firmly believe this is only the beginning. When I started this company in March of 2009, I knew that Puget Sound Moving would be different from the national companies I had worked with before. With five years of industry experience under my belt, I was confident that I could build a successful company simply by focusing on clients rather than dollars.

We booked our move with them on June 18 for June 27. They called me the morning of June 26 to confirm our move, but I missed the call because I was busy packing. They didn't make any more attempts to call me. Not once did anyone mention that I would get a confirmation call, that they intentionally over-book their movers, or that they would cancel our move if I didn’t respond to the confirmation call. At 4:45pm they sent me a text message and an email announcing that my move was cancelled. When I called minutes later to ask what was going on, the general manager acted like he had no idea what I was talking about and said he didn’t have the man power available for our move. They have completely screwed us over. This was the only moving company we had booked with. We have all our stuff packed up and ready to go, we have a small child, and we desperately need moving help tomorrow. The amount that Puget Sound Moving has made our lives stressful and difficult today is beyond reproach.

We were very happy with them. The move was great, there was very minimal damage and everything was fantastic. They did end up over charging me but they said they'd simply issue a refund to my credit card.

Great, the people came over and not only moved everything up, basically 4 stories, they were down a guy and still made the move in a day and saved us money. They put all the furniture in the respective rooms and also connected our washer/dryer. They were super helpful and my husband kept telling me how impressed he was with these guys. We'd totally recommend.

It should first be noted that, due to some unforeseen circumstances and an eleventh-hour opportunity, I found myself with a very shortened moving window between the time I was able to firm up my new living space and the date of close on the house I was selling. I had called a dozen movers, and saw my share of sketchy businesses. I'm so glad I went to Angie's List. Puget Sound Moving was on my SHORT short list after combing through dozens of reviews on Angie's List. The last of three different on-site estimates at my home, they came in with the most competitive quote. I was VERY impressed with their sales representative -- who was extremely thoughtful, attentive and thorough in providing me with a breakdown of costs and an overall estimate, taking various scenarios into account. He made certain I was aware of my rights as a consumer, and what every moving company, to include his own employer, was bound by law to do and to provide. To my relief, PSM was able to work within the dates I might feasibly move. AND they remained flexible -- from same-day pick-up and delivery, to multi-day storage options. As luck would have it, everything came together at the last minute, I called to make sure they were still open to do an all-in-one-day pickup and delivery, and Puget Sound Moving was ready to go to work. The plan was to send in a three-man crew, but, as luck would have it, one man called in sick the morning of the move. I had planned to assist the crew to begin with, and had nearly everything that I wanted to travel on the truck packed and labeled and staged in strategic areas of my house. NOTE TO THE BUYER: Folks -- to the extent that you are able to do your part, make sure you aren't wasting your money and the moving crew's valuable time by having them boxing stuff up for you that should have been ready weeks prior. It is a poor allocation of resources YOU are paying for...and I've determined that poor planning on the part of the consumer to be the base issue of far too many consumer complaints against moving companies. The company's job is primarily to load and move your stuff -- NOT to pack your books, toiletries and the contents of your home office at the last second on moving day because you were "too busy" and just couldn't get around to it. Moving day: Puget Sound Moving arrived on time and ready to roll. I'm sorry I cannot remember the two young gentlemen who handled the move (maybe the company might please fill in this information, in their response to my review?) -- but I will never forget how pleasant, professional, painstakingly careful, respectful and full of hustle these guys were. Their diligence in wrapping up/boxing items that I'd been unable to find suitable containers for (large framed art, mirrors, plasma screen TV, etc.), shrink-wrapping my furniture, loading and unloading, etc. was nothing short of commendable. NOT ONE single nick, scratch, rip, tear, broken dish or chipped glass. Granted, I bubble-wrapped the crap out of my stuff, but these guys made sure they knew exactly how each item was going to travel up or down a staircase, pass through a doorway, and sit on their truck. Their designated lunch break was to the minute -- then they were back at it. If they had any questions, they made sure to ask...they never presumed or assumed. If I had a question or suggestion, they were all ears. Long story short, at the end of a long, sweaty and non-stop day, these guys were still cheerful, respectful and asking if everything was to my satisfaction, whether I had any questions, etc. Best of all, they came in WELL under the original quote. I happily cash-tipped both of these gentlemen on top of the actual bill -- believe it, they earned every cent. Now, I hope to have at least a few years in my current place before relocating again, but when that day comes, Puget Sound Moving will get my business. I would and will recommend them to any friend, family member or stranger on the street. From the front office receptionist to the sales manager to the fellas hauling my gear, they've proven to me why they're a top-rated Angie's List business. Thanks!

When I called to schedule the move, Jamie was very helpful. It was super easy to schedule for the time I wanted. The move went great! The 3 guys showed up 15 minutes early. I completed paperwork and then they got to work. Not only did they have to take stuff out of my old place, but they also had to stop by my storage unit to take everything out of there as well. They were super quick and friendly. I highly recommend!

Packed designated items carefully. On arrival all items were placed in the apartment as designated, wrappings and debris removed. The personnel were courteous, personable and very capable. Office staff gave complete information about scheduling and the workers were on time. They had given an hour arrival window due to traffic conditions and called to let us know when they were about 10 minutes out. Paperwork was clear and they were careful about getting everything the way we wanted it. I was very pleased.

The move went great from the first contact with Emma at the office to the last box unloaded. Antonio, Alberto and Ivan were the best. Whatever I needed they were more than accommodating. The only damage done was by me. They worked continuously and handled my furniture with the greatest of care. They arrived right on time and immediately started. They gave me an estimate right up front and actually got finished in less time than they thought. I definitely will recommend Puget Sound Moving to anyone wanting a professional to move them.
Description of Work: I had packed and moved the boxes before hand, so the team from Puget Sound Moving had the big stuff to move. The wrapped all my furniture and appliances in blankets then in plastic, as it was raining. The wrapped the doorways and protected the floors. Upon arrival at our new home they placed all the furniture in just the right place and reconnected the appliances.

The movers showed up on time and were very friendly and professional. They got to work right away. I had everything already packed up in boxes and so they were able to just start loading the truck. They wrapped up all the furniture in order to protect it during the move. They worked steadily until the truck was loaded and then we all drove to the new house about half an hour away. The crew unloaded the truck in record time and put everything in place in the new house. All in all, it was a great moving experience and I would highly recommend Puget Sound Moving!

I think my comments above gave how pleased we were with the movers!!
Description of Work: After working out some scheduling issues the guys showed up right on time, introduced themselves and asked for the details of what we wanted moved. I showed them and they proceeded to take things apart, wrap the items very carefully and load them in the truck. They were very careful about corners and walls in the house. At the new residence they unloaded with the same care they used when loading....put things back together as needed and did a very nice job.we would use them again....

The overall move went well. The company was very quick to respond to my initial inquiry about their moving services, and quickly got me the information I needed and subsequently scheduled a date and time for my move. The movers showed up on time and did a quick and thorough job without damaging anything. The price was reasonable for the service given, and I would definitely use them again for a future move.

It went very well.... VERY fast (they brought a lot of guys!). There was only one box that had some damaged goods because they transported the box upside down, and piled other heavy boxes on top of it. Other than that, everything else was moved in great condition, including a piano.

Team of 3 movers showed up promptly at 8 AM and I was prepared having everything in one room AND labeled. With two dollies, they made short work of loading, only 1 1/2 hours, and we were all loaded by 1:30 PM. I wish my remaining move could go this well.

From the first contact with the office, they were very helpful about how to make this "move with several twists". I sent them a spreadsheet with most of my items listed and an estimate of the number of boxes. They gave me an estimate of around $1200 and suggested that I use 4 men because of the piano. On moving day they showed up early and ready to get to work. The guys were all very knowledgeable about how to organize their time and loading the truck. It was important to plan how to load the truck because of the storage unit. I thought I had everything packed the night before, but there were last minute items and they made good suggestions for how to move those odd pieces. They were very courteous and we actually had a few good laughs along the way. They came prepared with wrap and blankets and nothing was damaged. Several years ago I used Two Men and a Truck and it was a total nightmare. In the end, the Puget Sound Moving guys nailed the estimate and I was very happy. I would recommend this company to anyone needing movers - from start to finish, they were amazing"

The move was scheduled within one week. The two movers were on time, friendly and worked quickly. The staff were careful with our belongings and took $50 off our bill when some light damage occurred to our Ikea dresser. We appreciated their honesty regarding the damage as we did not see it occur. It took approximately 4 hours to pack everything into the truck and unload it at our new home. Very satisfied.

We were originally scheduled for early morning but day before they called to let us know that they couldn't finish unloading their track so they would have to come at noon. It was a bit set back but we were glad they let us know earlier. In the end it didn't really matter for us that much. However I would let them know earlier if you are on a tight deadline. 3 movers arrived as opposed to 4 that was originally quoted but they adjusted the hourly price accordingly, which ended up being better for us. The movers did an excellent job in packing the furniture, we had a lot of glass doors that were securely packed. Nothing was damaged at the end. They also used carpet protectors etc to protect the home itself. Their hourly rate was slightly more expensive compared to some other companies but I believe you are paying for the quality and I didn't want to try saving an hundred dollar at the risk of my furniture. The reason for B review in the price wasn't the hourly rate though, I believe they could have worked a little faster to save an hour. Overall I would definetly recommend them for a move though, especially if you have a lot of turnitures that can be damaged easily.

We have four children and all the junk that is associated with them. In discussions with the owner, I realized that it would be more cost efficient to get two of the biggest trucks and a team of four then for a team of two to make two trips. We ended up filling both trucks and so I appreciate the money saving advice. The movers were professional and very careful, they wrapped every piece of furniture including every kitchen chair. I thought that was a little excessive since our furniture is not that nice, but I appreciated that it made its way safely to our new home. Also the homes at both ended were treated very well with runners placed on the flooring to protect the carpet and hardwoods from the move. I would use them again and recommend them to others.

Two men arrived on time with a 26 foot moving truck. They worked quickly and professionally, wrapping virtually everything in protective moving blankets before moving them onto the truck. They laid down protective sheets on the ground to prevent the carpet and floors from getting dirty at both residences. Nothing was broken or damaged. Their time estimate was accurate. We would use their company again and would recommend them to friends and family.

6 man crew and only 2 of them spoke English and we don't speak Spanish. They were late by one hour without anyone calling us to let us know of any problem(s). Very clean in appearance with the trucks being clean inside and out. Slow doesn't even begin describe this professional mover's trained crew. Took way more time than was quoted, over 9 hours VS the 3 hours with this large crew. Damaged the following: furniture, electronics, breakables/china, high end speakers, clothing and new homes walls. The crew seemed all over the place without getting the work done. There seemed to be very little origination with this crew. While the owner of the company did repair/replace some of the damaged items there was so much that we found later as damaged when all of the unpacking was completed. He was more afraid of poor complaints that could be posted on line than he did in the final analysis. The final problem happen with our entry way into the home. These guys didn't support, or carry, a large heavy item which broke through the entry way landing. I would not recommend this company to friends or family.

On the day of the move, three men arrived right on schedule. While I went down to a basement-type of area to help get things ready to move, the three movers worked on disassembling my piano. I wasn't present at that time. I didn't actually see them move the piano to the moving van. We finished up that house and next went to my rental where we loaded up the moving van. We then arrived at my new home and started unpacking things. Towards the end of the day, the piano (which was one of the first things loaded in the truck) was now being brought into my new home. I stepped away and was arranging some stuff out in the garage, so once again I wasn't present when the setup occurred. When I came back into the home, my roommate mentioned the back part of the piano, where there's the one leg, had actually dropped and hit hardwood floors. I asked the guys what happened. I don't quite remember their response. I told them it was essential we check the undercarriage of the piano to make sure there was no damage. To the naked eye there did not appear to be any damage. We also very carefully checked the hardwood floor. Thankfully, again, no apparent damage. The lead moving man then put the pedal assembly on the piano, mentioning to me there was a wrong screw type in the wood which attaches to the piano. He went out to his truck, brought in a screw that was meant for something metal -- NOT a wood screw and proceeded to tighten up the screw. We (the moving guys and myself) noticed the pedal assembly seemed to be hanging loose. The movers then told me the back brace (I believe it's called something like the lyre) was missing from the piano so that was one of the reasons the pedal assembly was loose. They also mentioned the screw hole was most likely stripped from the earlier wrong screw being used. I told them, one, I never noticed the pedal assembly being loose before (owned this piano about 15 years), and two, I never noticed the "lyre" bracing assembly was missing. After the men left, about a week later I hired a piano technician to come out and tune the piano. I also asked him to perform a thorough examination of the piano, explaining it had dropped and explaining the movers said parts were missing. The technician came out about two to three times to complete the work. When I asked him to write a brief description of the work done, here's a part of his report: Problems Found The pedal lyre assembly was not working properly and was found to be improperly attached to the piano. It was loosely connected using the wrong size and type of fasteners. There were two extra long lag bolts that had been pushed up through the key-bed causing damage as they splintered through the top wood hitting the underside of the action key-frame. The pedal lyre braces were also missing. Repairs I repaired the key-bed with glue and sanding, plugged the oversized holes in the key-bed with maple dowels and drilled new holes and installed wood screws closer to what were originally in the piano. I installed new brass lyre supports and adjusted the pedals to properly perform. The total cost for two service calls and parts was $220.00. Summary The damage to the key-bed was caused by the use of improper fasteners. In my opinion, it would have been avoided had the lyre been left unattached until the proper screws could have been acquired. I then proceeded to send the report to Puget Sound Moving. I had been in contact with Erik, who oversaw the movers. The actual owner of the company, Cirdan Imbler, called me after reviewing the report and some video I sent. I found everyone I spoke with at Puget Sound Movers to be reasonable and listened carefully to my concerns. Cirdan and I spoke for about 20 minutes. He explained, from his perspective, how events unfolded, according to his movers. One thing that Cirdan stated was the movers noticed at my Kent home the lyre assembly was missing and the pedal assembly was loose. I told Cirdan no one said anything to me at the Kent home. Cirdan said he understood that and had a staff meeting to address what they could have done better. As with the technician, Cirdan also believed I should have been told at my home if something was wrong or missing from the piano, that I right then and there could have made the decision to let them move it anyway or wait until it was repaired first. After a lengthy discussion with Cirdan, we both agreed on an amount they would reimburse me towards the technician's costs. Even though it wasn't the full $220.00, I felt it was fair. The truth is I have no reason to believe the movers would lie when they told me the lyre assembly was missing. I knew from my usage of the piano I didn't remember anything loose, but I couldn't be sure 100 percent. So the settlement amount reflected the other parts of the costs. One other thing I wish to mention I wasn't that happy about is when the movers first arrived, the lead mover presented to me a couple of forms, essentially saying in order for them to do the move, I needed to initial and sign certain sections of the documents. I read through it as carefully as I could in that small allotted time. What I read I didn't like and actually put a note on the paper itself was signing a form that basically says the moving company pays only something like 60 cents of the dollar if anything is damaged. The lead mover related to me this was "standard policy" for all moving companies. I was rather dumbfounded by this. As an example, had there been more substantial damage to my grand piano. 60 cents paid on the dollar is not comforting in the least. I told the lead mover I thought it was unfair to be presented with this at this particular time, right when the move is about to begin. He related I would have had to call the office and get additional coverage. I explained to him when I hired the company, I ASSUMED when they said they were insured, that meant for the actual total cost of the replacement value. I signed the form under protest, which, like I said, was noted by myself on the documents. I don't want to denigrate the men who actually did the move. They were very, very hard workers, very polite, very professional, on time, efficient, and easy for me to work with. I just feel it's important to stay true to Angieslist and write an honest appraisal of my experience. I want to end this by saying I would still use Puget Sound Moving. I believe we both learned something valuable. I'm more savvy about what to ask up front; in this case I believe Puget Sound did the professional thing, the main people got together and discussed what they felt were the facts, and what they could have done better in my case, so they learned, too. Also, the communication with the manager and owner was very straightforward and professional, which led to resolving the issue. In this day and time, there are a lot of companies who would just be obnoxious and defensive. I found the opposite to be true of this company.
Description of Work: I hired Puget Sound Moving, after checking Angie's List and wonderful reviews on the Internet. I needed a company to move stuff from my sold home in Kent, which included a grand piano; then on to Tacoma to my rental; and finally to the new place I was moving to.

Response from Puget Sound Moving Inc
I think Member accurately and fairly addressed the issue that came up regarding her piano. The assembly was installed incorrectly before we moved the piano and we should have discussed the matter prior to moving it. The lead on her move assumed she knew about the assembly but it turns out Member had no idea that the pedal needed new hardware. What every potential customer should know about the moving industry is that 60 cents per lb per article (for full loss or damage) is the uniform coverage for licensed household goods movers in the State of Washington. You must purchase additional coverage. If a shipper would like to purchase full replacement, you can do so through any licensed mover or a third party prior to the move.

They were really fast and efficient. They could have been a little more careful in some ways and there were a few scratches on some of the furniture, but they did not break anything. The contact people and coordinating people were both very good. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: They did some packing and helped move a household and an industrial shop.
