Sales rep came to my house. He seemed very pleasant and very knowledgable and told me about various windows. He pushed me away from a window Milgard that I had been told by several other companies was a good window. Even though they carry the Milgard brand and it is highly recommended by teh store personnel, he tried to flip me over to the Simonton brand. I asked for a bid, which he would not provide at the time. He said he would get me a bid in several days. I asked for the bid to be detailed so I could compare the other companiesand teh sales rep said he would, but when I received the bid it was one lump sum and 40% higher than the competitors. When i asked why, the sales rep told me I was paying for the Home Depot brand guarantee. I told him I priced Simonton brand windows at the store and through a competitor, but he told me I wasn't comparing the same windows...that Simonton only gives this special series to home Depot "In Home Services". As for giving me line item detail, he refused to do so and I never heard from him again.

We picked Simonton, then gave HD a chance for their best price and seemed to have a full time staff to support the installation; and not contractors. We signed off and made deposit on work order. A few days later, management in Kent cancelled the project blaming his staff didn't know what he was quoting. After we spent many hours on the estimate, technical detailing and run through, lead paint test, etc., the manager offered to take more time and redo the quote. NOT! We took our deposit back and ran away as far as we could.

Because I didn't have them (Home Depot and their contractors, Norwest) do the whole job - the demo, electrical, and drywall were done by others - I think they put me at the bottom of their list as far as scheduling. After scheduling it and having the preliminary work done, suddenly they couldn't come for another 2 weeks. There was nothing I could do about it. The store refunded me $250 "for my inconvenience" but that's hardly worth my wait. My recommendation - either have them do all of the job (be prepared to pay a little more than you would with other contractors) or none.

Horrible, horrible experience. Substandard work and property damage was extensive, as reported by a reputable news station, along with other Home Depot customer’s projects. In addition, Home Depot workers damaged custom French doors that required replacement. These substitution doors have leaked ever since and cannot be opened without making the shoddy water seal worse – they have not been opened in years. They also did not re-paint the exterior surrounding the doors, stating, “We no longer paint”, even though I paid them to paint before they damaged the doors. An estimate received from another vendor to fix the doors was $4,000. Home Depot's insurance company offered to write check for $866 in trade for signing a release for all damages. My attorney advised not to sign their release and to sue Home Depot in small claims court. Be aware of hiring this 800-pound gorilla that has a national track record of broken promises and victimizing its customers!

As a business owner it has cost me loss of income due to personal time addressing this issue, stress on the financial and personal well-being. Home Depot at Home Services has failed to provide adequate and supplemental assistance in resolving this issue.
Description of Work: I had four windows installed by the Home Depot at Home Services in 2008. The one Kitchen, two in the Nook have not had any problems but the one installed in the Bathroom shower was not sealed properly. I noticed a crack in the seal and a soft tile wall in July 2009. I contacted the Home Depot and got nothing but the run around for two months. By September 2009 I had water damage in the basement and siding. I had to send my then pregnant wife and daughter to stay with my in-laws since we only have one bath, while I took care of the problem before it damaged the structural integrity of my home. I had my homeowners insurance assess the damage and cost of repair ad the price was high. A private contractor and Architect inspected the bathroom and then I sought out after Home Depot. I have now (todays date 10/22/10) spent since 06/12/10 in trying to resolve this issue with their Home Services Department. It is yet to be resolved. They have failed to reply to emails, calls and letters. I have been tossed around to different departments and being told this is "Being Reviewed". I have provided pictures, insurance and a list of damage goods to my personal items multiple times and nothing has been resolved. 15 months and no resolution.

They were professional. Great work, good job. Price wise, I would consider comparing more with other companies, but for everything else I would hire them again.

They arrived early and were clean and tidy. It took them a few hours to complete the job. The finished work was done very well. They also provide a follow-up inspection.
Description of Work: They came out and did an initial inspection for insulation for the attic and provided an estimate. They then prepped the attic for insulation and installed the new insulation.

They called saying they would start 8 AM next day. At 8:10 AM first truck pulled in, by 8:30 there were 8 or 9 guys working on our roof. By 8:45 PM that night they had finished the work required, cleaned up the property, and were on their way out. 11.25 hours work time. Amazing! They took very few breaks, a short lunch,(15 min.), and never ''sat to catch their breath''. They went over entire work site with magnets picking up nails. They even cleaned up a bit of loose trash I had laying around not related to the roof. All were perfect gentlemen! We really expected them to take 2 ++ DAYS. It was only a 2010 sq foot rambler.
Description of Work: REMOVE OLD ROOF,(double layer) REMOVE SHEETING ON 2/3's OF HOUSE, REPLACE SHEETING, SHINGLES AND SIDE TRIM. RIDGE VENTS INSTALLED. ALL FLASHING REPLACED, CAULKED,AND PAINTED, ALL SHINGLE EDGES CAULKED IN VALLEYS. ALL VENT PIPES CAULKED AND PAINTED TO MATCH ROOF.

I heard wood splintered on one window and was told, "Don't worry, this always happens, and we plan on fixing a few things with each job." When they were working on the two side-by-side wood windows I reminded them that they would be promptly fixing all damage to the wood "brick framing and/or supports". They slowed down some, and said, "yes, we know that we have to fix what we break." One week later, while on a ladder to prime around the new windows, I found that the window stop on one window was torn length wise, and through the full depth of the wood. I called the project coordinator, and left messages, 3 times in the next week, and it still took over 1 month to get the project manager to come look at the damage. It took another month to get the Installers back, who arrived 7 hours late, and filled the huge crack with caulking when they were told to replace it. 2 more phone calls and an e-mail to the main office then 3 more weeks to get the wood properly replaced.
Description of Work: Replaced two metal framed windows, including all hardware, and two wood framed windows, and installed Simonton Vinyl Windows. Repaired window frames, if needed after removal of metal window casing. Installers (Mountain View Construction) damaged part of the wood framing on one window (the window stop was ripped length wise), and instead of replacing it, they nailed it somewhat together.

THE SALES PITCH WAS VERY HIGH PRESSURED. PROMISED US A CERTAIN PRICE IF WE SIGNED THAT NIGHT, BUT SAID HE HAD TO HURRY AS HE HAD ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. AFTER WE SIGNED ON THE DOTTED LINE, WE HAD MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PRODUCT AND WE REQUESTED COLOR SAMPLES. THE SALESMAN WAS NOT COOPERATIVE IN HELPING, AND AFTER MANY PHONE CALLS MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO THE SUPPLIER OURSELVES TO OBTAIN THE SAMPLES (A FAR DISTANCE FROM OUR HOME). THE SALESMAN PROMISED INSTALLATION BY A CERTAIN DEADLINE, BUT THIS WAS A PROMISE HE COULDN'T KEEP. FURTHERMORE, WE FINANCED WORK THAT WAS NOT COMPLETED FOR 3 MONTHS! IN THE END, THE ROOF AND THE GUTTERS LOOK BEAUTIFUL. I DO FIND IT ODD, HOWEVER, THAT ALTHOUGH A FINAL INSPECTION WAS MADE OF THE ROOF, NO ONE HAS CONTACTED US ABOUT INSPECTING THE GUTTERS. WHEN, IN FACT, WE ARE STILL MISSING ONE SMALL CONNECTION PIECE. I WAS WILLING TO PAY THE HIGHER PRICE FOR THIS ROOF AND GUTTER WORK BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE BETTER SERVICE AND A BETTER GUARANTEE!
Description of Work: A NEW HIGH-END COMPOSITION ROOF AND GUTTERS WERE INSTALLED ON A SPLIT LEVEL HOME.
