We were choosing between two providers, and Glass Doctors was the least expensive and both had similar quality reviews on Angie's list and other sites, so we chose them. The job seemed simple enough. Replace a window with a broken seal, and another that had generated a crack. We paid half up-front. The job started towards the end of October. The technician who came was the same person who came out to measure/provide estimate. He replaced the two windows, but with one wasn't very careful and scuffed up the window frame badly such that we needed to repaint it. He had also brought the wrong part for the crank. Rescheduled, and the same person came out again, and again didn't have the correct part. Took more measurements, and took the existing part. Rescheduled again, but before the day before the appointment got a call that the part was wrong, and that they needed to reschedule again. It was early December at the final appointment. The technician showed up late (although I did get a call from the dispatcher offering to reschedule again). This was a different person, and when they arrived, they were able to quickly fix the crank, as they had the correct part. Before paying the final portion, we wanted to provide feedback about our experience to a manager. It was very difficult to talk to anyone, but were finally given an email address. We provided the feedback about this job, and they ultimately decided that because of our inconvenience we would not need to pay the remaining half (because of this courtesy I rated this contractor D instead of F).

Our basement window was shattered during a break-in. The company was very responsive and helpful. Both the person I spoke to on the phone and the technician who later visited our home were empathetic to our situation and very helpful. The technician came out and measured the size and UV protection of both panes and provided an estimate for the cost. The window was later installed in a timely fashion. We were very happy with the service, though the circumstances for needing them were less than ideal.

Did not use them because their price kept changing.
Description of Work: I called to get a quote on a driver side car window. After 10 minutes of questions, I finally insisted they give me a quote. When they did , I told them it was too high. They then gave me a new quote, much less than the first. I decided I did not like doing business with a company that has a moving price.

Windows fit perfectly. Technician, Martin Garland was prompt and friendly. Would use again & recommend.
Description of Work: Had large double pane window glass replaced due to broken seals in 2 windows. Called several companies on Angie's List, who referred to the Glass Doctor for small jobs. Glass Doctor technician came out the next day, measured and provided the cost. Windows were ordered for 50% deposit and installed about 2weeks later and balance paid then.

Glass Doctor came promptly for the quote and after taking a $250 deposit promised we would hear from them in under 2 weeks when the glass panes were ready. Three weeks later we contacted them and finally they came with the panes. The technician then claimed that there was actually only one pane of glass in the window and remeasured for one pane of glass. Same delay in the interim. Another technician returned with the single pane only to tell me that the first tech had been correct and there were two panes of glass in the window. He remeasured and announced that the previous measurements had been incorrect as well. A little over a week later another technician returned and installed the single pane of glass that had been rejected by the previous technician. The finish details were sloppy as well. Luckily I was planing on painting the window myself once they were finished and will be able to clean up the mess they left. After this experience, I did a little more research as far as cost goes and I am sure I paid top dollar for inferior work. All in all a terrible experience. BEWARE!

The company sent two technicians to accomplish the 20 window replacements in one day. They arrived in the morning and left late afternoon. Their work was excellent. They were easy to communicate with throughout the day as questions surfaced. They were better than any other glass company contacted for estimates with regard to timeliness and accuracy and also price competitive. Champion glass lived up to their champion name!

We had theTukwila Glass Doctor install new glass in our shower. The showroom had exactly what we wanted so we felt confident they would do a good job. The guy that came and measured for the order and took out the old glass did a great job. It all went wrong when a different person installed the new glass. He installed the door on the wrong side. We didn?t notice it until after he had drilled holes in the tile so at that point we said just leave it as it was. What we didn?t realize at the time was by installing on the wrong side he had to turn the door upside down and backwards. This meant the door did not fit properly. Of course the installer didn?t tell us that the door would need to be recut and would have left it as it was if we hadn't insisted it be redone since it didn?t fit properly. When the new door came the gap between the door and the side panel was much larger than expected and the top didn?t fit properly into the hinges. After several visits the top was fixed, the gap is still huge and the hinge at the bottom is still at an angle. The door also does not swing shut flush with the side panel and makes a huge noise every time it is opened or closed. We were told by the supervisor that we were too picky and had to live with it the way it was. So every morning we have a huge puddle of water to mop up. I would not recommended Glass Doctor for anything. This was a pretty simple job and they totally messed it up and refused to provide quality installation.
Description of Work: Install a new glass shower door and side panels. Also removed old shower door. I'm not sure of the exact date of the service so I included an estimate of when I thought it was.

October- The company made good onthe error and replace my mirror with excellence less than a week later. I have updated my rating based on their abilty to "do the right thing". There was a delay in getting the mirror made and installed due to a back log of orders, so I agreed to the date of 9-21. The installers brought in the mirror, were careful, courteous, and polite. They installed the mirror and noticed how big the hole cut out was for a fixture..they asked why it was measured so big (5.5 inches, instead of 4.5) and of course I had no idea, I relied onthem as experts int he business to know how to measure. I put the plate for the new light up against the hole, and the hole was bigger than the plate, and placed the old light up against the hole, and it was too small...where in the heck did he come up with this random siz? The men were still in my driveway and I went to ask them, and all I heard was "i cannot speak for the guy who measured" There was no offer to remove the newly installed mirror (glued on at this point..) and I told them I was calling theri office- I was told how sorry they were by the girl that answered the phone, (she never asked my name or work order number) and I was quickly transferred to Justin, her manager- ring, ring got his voicemail---I provided the details of my experience andinability to have a light in my bathroom to his voice mail...waited over an hour..no call back- I called again, and was told Justin was out of the office for the day and no one could help me- no offer to remove it, or measure correctly for a replacement piece. I guess Justin makes all the decisions. I am now looking for another light that may fit, and of course have not found one. All lights that will fit are consistent with either a 4.4 of 4.5 sizing. Terrible customer service, and an extremely negative experience with no resolution in sight...I now have a beautifully remodeled bathroom with no light, and this was to be the last thing done- so upset by their lack of concern or efforts to make it right-
Description of Work: I had a 48 x 60 foot mirror installed in a bathroom- the tech came and messured, and we had to accomodate for an uneven ceiling height (older home) we discussed the plan around that, and I mentioned the light fixture had not been chosen, and he measured the area where it was wired for a light. He took my money for a deposit and off he went.

Contacted Glass Dr. to get quote. Price was good, so I scheduled them to come out and replace my car's windshield one day, and my wife's car's windshield the next day (asked them if they would like to do both cars the same day, to make it easier; they said it didn't make any difference). On the day the service was to be performed I was told they would call approximately 30 minutes before they would arrive. The scheduled window was between 10:00am - 2:00pm. 2:47pm came around and no call yet. I called Glass Dr. to inquire as to where the technician was (as I had not gotten a call from him, or anyone at Glass Dr.), the dispatcher informed me that the technician was on a project that he was having difficulty with, didn't think to call anyone, and would be another 45 minutes before he could get to my windshield. I had informed Glass Dr. when I scheduled the work that I had time constraints that I needed them to adhere to (that's why we were going to do the two cars on two different days) which they agreed to. Because of their lateness, I rescheduled to have both windshields done the following day; again between 10:00am -2:00pm. They said that that would work, and "that they would be at my home earlier, due to having both the cars to do". The next day arrived; 1:00pm no phone call yet. I called, asked where they were, the receptionist said she had to check. She came back on line and told me she would transfer me to the dispatcher. I went through that yesterday, and it was already 1:00pm (not what I would call "earlier" for the work) so I informed her that since I had not received any kind of phone call with any kind of information at all that I wished to cancel the job. She appologized, and that was that. Apparently this company has so much work that they can afford to lose customers to such little things. I would have had the work done had I been appraised of any situation that they had. All it took was a phone call. I ended up using a company that turned out being cheaper, and came out earlier than scheduled (how often does that happen!?)

Everything went well. They did a nice job. The only thing I was disappointed in was that they charged the full amount to the credit card I put the deposit on when I asked them not to. That was really disappointing because I made it pretty clear that I wanted to write a check for the remaining amount. So as far as administration was concerned I wasn’t too happy, but the work done was good.

I was glad to find a company that would replace the glass--most of them only want to put entire new windows in, and we didn't need that. One window was a tall picture window, one the stationary part of a medium-sized sliding window, and the third the medium-large stationary part of a sliding pair. The job came out well in the end, the new glass looks good. It took several weeks and one false start. The technician mis-calculated the measurements, which he had taken on his initial visit, and two of the first set ordered had to be re-made by the factory. This added another three weeks, after waiting three weeks for the first set. He did a good job of installing, leaving the windows clean and tight. The glass came with a one year workmanship warranty from Glass Doctor, and a 10 year manufacturer's warranty against seal failure & stress cracks. I had to ask to have this part put into writing, which they did.
Description of Work: We had three insulated (double-pane) glass window panels in which the seal had failed (fogged) in our 12 year old house. Glass Doctor replaced them with new insulated glass, matching and installing the new panels into the existing vinyl window frames.

The person doing the estimate (Tim) was professional, thorough, and knowledgeable. He was pretty quick at measuring all of the windows (62) but I didn't think much of it because I thought that he was measuring for the estimate, and they would do a "critical" measurement before actually having the windows made. One measurement was it. This was a glass replacement job, as opposed to installing new window frames, so the work involved was straightforward. Still, because all the frames were wood, and some carpentry skill was needed, I was concerned that the Glass Doctor was the right choice. I was assured that they had done this many times before. The first day, they arrived with only 23 windows. There had been a mix up in the office, and they didn't know which ones were missing. Mistakes happen. Tim re-measured and said that the windows could be made overnight. This was planned to be a 2 day job (maybe 2 1/2). The first day they finished 10 windows of the 62. The next day they arrived and still could not account for 3 windows that were missing from the order. They planned to install what they had, and that would determine which ones had been left out. I knew which ones were missing, and called the manager to help him figure it out. He was very defensive, and said, "I'm not going to argue about how many windows are in your house". I didn't call to argue, I called to help since I certainly know how many windows are in my house, and if I were him, in the middle of seriously botching a $10,000 order, I would have been out at the house myself to figure it out. Poor management. The installers were getting more efficient after figuring out how everything was put together, and 16 windows were finished the 2nd day. The rest of the missing glass was ordered, but 1 piece was broken in the warehouse, and another was made backwards (obscure/tempered glass on the wrong sides), so those had to be re-ordered. The job was finished in 4 days, with a week in between the start and finish to do all the re-ordering. Not quite what was promised. The installers worked hard, and efficiently, and were pleasant to work with. The manager was rude and disorganized. (He had come to the house before the job started to bring samples of obscure glass designs. He was pleaseant then, but forgot to bring the samples! We had to look online.) At one point I saw them nailing in the stops with a hammer. Since they were using small finishing nails, and thin strips of wood, I asked why they didn't use a nail gun (also would have been much quicker). Someone had lost a part to the compressor, and the company had given them the wrong nails for the gun. Not very professional. Give your guys the right tools for the job! Mistakes can happen with the ordering, and they tried to get it rectified quickly. My one real issue was with the details of the finished product. Remember the quick measuring? As I feared, some of the windows were really on the verge of not fitting properly -- you can see that they are too narrow for the opening. Probably not worth having them re-made, but if you know what to look for, you can see that it's not a good fit. I was assured that all seams/nail holes had been caulked, and were ready for painting. They missed a few on the first floor, but when I went to the 2nd floor to paint, I had to caulk most of the windows first! Attention to detail is important to me, and this job was a little beyond their means. If you have basic/standard windows/glass to be replaced, they would probably be fine (but watch the details!). If you have a job that requires finesse, I would look elsewhere.
Description of Work: Replaced 62 single pane windows (wood window frames) with insulated glass. The wood stops were removed, the new glass was set in place, the existing wood stops were trimmed to accomodate the new glass, and then nailed back in place.

They said they couldn't give a quote over the phone and so I set a time frame 2 days later for someone to give me a bid at my home. The representative showed up on time, was extremely courteous and wrote the quote while I waited (but did not double check my measurements). The quote was for the job so I couldn't tell how much was labor and how much was mirror. When I asked why a quote couldn't be given over the phone, he said he worked on commission. Seemed wasteful for such a small job. The bid came in $100 more than 2 other companies I called which is 50% higher! They were professional and nice, but I felt I was getting a markup because of the neighborhood I live in.
