Positive: They arrived for the installation after a month of waiting for our order. They had around 5-8 people arrive for the install and had it scheduled for 2 days, but finished in 1!!They did a great job and did quality work. Especially in the build up of the wall in the family room, it looked amazing how they reused some wood peaces I had already for the base. I did notice they missed a few caulking areas in the bathroom and living room and forgot one old window,I called and they came back the 2nd day to fix the caulking and get the window. The windows quality of work again is amazingly done. Negative:The customer service girl could be more helpful when I was refereed to call the project manager if I had a problem, she tried to make us wait 5 day just to schedule it to be fixed. When I called a 2nd time I let her know the project was scheduled for two days originally so I already have a schedule then she finally let the manager know my problem. Also they made me fill out of the finance papers multiple times after being approved already and even after we received the credit card from the bank they use, I had to call the sales man for help just to get them to order our windows. They did get saw dust all over our kitchen appliances ,counters and living room desk etc.I wish the price was a little lower, but do like the quality. Overall: After a few setbacks with customer service and the high price. We are very happy with our windows and the work from the the window installers and sales representative.I would refer Champions of Seattle to my friends and family. Its amazing how new windows makes our old house feel newer. Thanks for the great work.
Description of Work: I wanted to replace 15 of my old moldy windows with nice double pane windows. The price above was with labor and drywall wall build up in the family room. Out of 7 other companies they where the most expensive but we liked the quality of the windows/The 36 months no interest also.

We had previously replaced windows with a different company, but they wouldn't touch the sky wall. They said there was no way they could give a lifetime warranty on it. Champion is one of the few...maybe only...companies to install sky walls, and they do give a lifetime warranty. The crew was excellent. The install went very well. We were having new wood trim installed at the same time. The carpenter commented on what a good job they did and said it made his job easier.

They first came out couple of weeks earlier, assessed the location and current door and gave me a bid. I was having the door installed to change the slider from a single to a double pane window to help keep the heat expense down. When the installers came they efficiently took out the existing sliding glass door and framework and put in the new framework and door. It took a couple of hours, but the result is a really pretty door and it works much more smoothly.
Description of Work: Installed a sliding glass door to my lanai. It was a custom door, as the opening is 10 feet wide. The door has a 5 foot opening.

It took them 6 months to get it done, because they had lost the order. I would still recommended them, but if other members order from them, make sure you are on top of the order.

Quality windows with excellent service. Very nice salesman who did the quote. Called prior to installation to confirm everything, called during the install to assure everything was going as planned, called after to assure everything was completed. Someone even stopped by maybe a week after to check on the work. I don't think I have ever had such customer service for a home project!

My window had moisture inside the two panes. It was an original window to our home built 12 years ago. I read the reviews of Champion and decided based on the positive feedback to call them. I was not disappointed in their service! Even though it was just a very small pieice of business for them, they gave me very professional service, as if it was a much bigger deal . I think you can feel comfortable using them for your smallest window issues. If ever I need to replace my windows throughout my house,I will definately call them.

We were puzzled by their behavior, They rescheduled several times before they got started. They installed things incorrectly and kitchen door glass was ordered and turned out to be too thick, had to be redone. I think it was reinstalled at least twice. The caulking that was used, one installer said was incorrect. It took them much too long to finish the small details and then, we asked to be billed, and they seemed strangely unhurried to collect payment. While the salesman seemed to know his stuff, we had several different teams of installers, which made us frustrated, lacked consistency, and when we called over and over again, there office staff were not good at communicating our frustration and even communicating that we were having any issues. In all, it was not the best experience we have ever had.

Response from Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Seattle
RESPONSE FROM CHAMPION DIVISION MANAGER: As I have stated in previous responses, Champion is certainly not the least expensive option when it comes to windows in the Puget Sound area, but we are by no means the most expensive either. Customers who choose to use us do so because of the tremendous value that is associated with our products. I am disappointed the the A.L. member decided to go elsewhere, but it is generally true that prospects who make decisions based 100% on price usually can find a cheaper solution. While Champion does indeed have a lower cost option (our Investor Series Window), the quality of our materials and the skilled labor we employ generally keeps our pricing in the middle of the market. I was pleased to see his positive comments on our professionalism and quality.

.I'll start off w/ the positive: The windows are very high quality. The team that installed all of the windows was outstanding. They worked very hard, were friendly and professional - and other then lunch, I don't think they took breaks. Now the negatives: Although the windows are high quality, they are also expensive. I can live with that as I do believe that you get what you pay for. My biggest gripe w/ Champion was their customer service after the installations were complete. Initially, the slider that was to be replaced had not come in w/ the windows, which was fine, however, weeks evolved into months. The windows were installed in the summer of 2013. The slider wasn't installed until the following late October/early November. The first time the installer came, the slider had the wrong color hardware, and was also missing parts (locking hardware). They DID come back to replace the hardware, however, we were never compensated in any way whatsoever for the long delay, or for the door hardware mix up. I had paid top dollar and expected top service in return. Also, although I had paid for the bulk of the installation, I held off on paying for the slider until the slider installation was completed. They sent me a bill and in less then two weeks, sent me the most snotty email implying they had billed me several times and were "again" asking for payment, implying that they would not be able to service my windows. I had already paid the bulk of the $9500ish bill and owed less then $2000. Considering how long they took to finish the job, I don't think paying a bill two weeks after getting the bill was out of line. I paid them off and also sent an email to the company letting them know that I did not appreciate how I was treated, but the only response I got was some sort of lame excuse and how I misinterpreted their snott-o-gram (I assure you, I didn't.). There was no apology or a partial refund; but something on the lines of blaming me for the "misunderstanding". After reading a few other reviews, I noticed this seemed to be the pattern (nothing was ever THEIR fault; everything is always the customers fault). Anyhoo, if you use them, expect to pay a Nordstrom price for decent windows, but customer service that is more on the lines of what you might expect at a K-mart. - Thank you.

Response from Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Seattle
RESPONSE FROM CHAMPION DIVISION MANAGER: While I appreciate the member’s positive comments on the quality of our product and the professionalism/friendliness of our crew, I take EXTREME exception to the way in which this customer has described the details of our project. The facts are as follows: [1] This A.L. member placed her original order with us on 7/25/13. [2] On 9/11, one week prior to the install, she decided to change a part of the order and requested that her Patio Door include our dog door option. Champion has an excellent dog door that is actually installed IN the glass of the operating door sash and it is a complicated expensive product. While we did request additional money for the different type of door, I made a decision to just absorb the cost of the product that had already been made. [3] I explained we could do what she wanted, but that it would significantly delay that part of the order. I also requested that we be allowed to install the originally ordered product WITHOUT the dog door portion during the upcoming installation and was told that would be fine. I made this request because the technical installation of an entire patio door (frame and all) requires a full installation crew and is far more difficult and complex than a quick service to switch out an operating sash. Switching a sash goes very quickly and can be performed by a single service technician. [4] When we arrived 9/19 to do the install the customer did not allow our crew to install the Patio Door. She told them she would instead prefer to wait for the new sash with the dog door to arrive. Our crews are trained to accommodate customers whenever possible so they said OK. In hindsight, I wish I had been made aware of this because I would have strongly suggested we follow the arrangement made allowing us to install the original Patio Door and change out the sash when it arrived. Had we done so, all of the ensuing difficulty would have been avoided. [5] As predicted AND communicated, it took quite some time for the dog door sash to arrive. This is a highly customized item, inset within custom tempered glass and the lead time is extensive. It finally arrived at our location on 12/6. [6] Given the holidays, our customer was not able to set the install for the door until 12/26. [7] This is when things started really started to spiral into negative territory. We made a mistake when we went to install the door because our crew brought incorrect incomplete door hardware. Yes…. we made a mistake. It has been my experience that when we get away from normal procedures the chance of something going wrong increases. That is exactly what happened here. The crew that went to do the door was a SERVICE crew not an install crew. Again, see my comments above regarding the difference between a door INSTALL versus a door SERVICE. [8] After numerous phone calls and left messages my service coordinator finally reached the customer on 1/9 and set the final service for 1/30. As to why the customer never returned a call to us (perhaps they were away for the holidays??) I do not know. What I do know is that we have documented records of numerous calls placed between 12/26 and 1/9 with no return call to us. As to why the earliest we were able to get out to finalize the door service was 1/30 I do not know. [9] The A.L. member expresses displeasure for the fact that they “were not compensated in any way whatsoever for the long delay”. I do not feel that Champion was responsible for the long delay as I had specifically told her that would be the case and I did not know at the time that the customer was troubled by the timing. Therefore, no offer of compensation from me was made. [10] The A.L. member expresses displeasure over our attempts to collect the balance. We have automated procedures complete with snail mail letters and emails that are sent to folks that owe us money. When we get ZERO response to those letters and emails, as was the case with her, our follow up letters and emails do indeed become more serious in tone. [11] Finally: We go to extreme lengths to provide world class customer service. We are not perfect, if we make a mistake we admit it and when appropriate offer compensation. I still believe that our actions here did not warrant anything more than the sincere apology I personally extended.

RESPONSE FROM CHAMPION DIVISION MANAGER: I'm going to assume this review means this member is happy with us?? I checked our internal file associated with this project and it appears the job went smoothly. I guess the reason I felt the need to post a response is because we are in the habit of receiving an "A" grade and anything less feels like we should have / could have done better. I can't find anything in our system or in the details of this member's review of our project that makes me think we came up short.... perhaps she is just a tough grader.

This was a last minute appt. We felt like we were getting the run around from another company and had to make a decision soon. I made calls to 3 new window companies and Champion was the only one willing/ able to get us an appointment immediately( keep in mind this was a holiday weekend) before we had to give our answer to the original company we were speaking with. The director of the region actually was the one to call back and fit me in with a local rep. The only reason we did not go with Champion is due to cost, this home is likely to be a rental in the near future and we didn't see the reasoning in putting high quality windows in. The product was very high quality and the professionalism was AMAZING after what we had been through. The rep was incredibly accommodating after we told him it may be a rental he showed us 3 other options.

Installers arrived on time, protected my home from weather (it was cold), and the carpet were shoe covers. Installation took about 4 1/2 hours to remove old slider, prep opening, install new slider and casing, chalk, and clean up after themselves. The installers were polite and courteous. I rated the Price lower only because it hard for me to spend that amount of money. I do fell the product and service was good value for that price. Up date 6/2015 sliding door is still working just like new. Solid construction, heavy duty and does not leak.

We have no complaints about them. They were very fast, and we love having the double hung windows, which I was initially not seeing the benefit of, and the guy convinced me about it. They are amazing. They were very responsive initially, and after the fact, we had an issue, and we wanted to get an egress window for our basement, and they never called me back. He even talked to me about what size and estimate that we needed, but they never got back to me. Their prices were competitive. They had a discount for Angie's List.

The sales rep spent close to 3 hours with us, showing us the window they sell compared to one from a competitor; explaining the advantages/disadvantages of each; and explaining their warranties. He did a quick measure of all of the windows and one door, then gave us an estimate. He explained that they could save the window liners and trims for almost all of the windows, which would save us money. We planned on getting another estimate from a competitor, but chose Champion because the sales rep gave us additional discounts. He also showed us copies of competitor estimates, provided to Champion by their customers, and many of those competitor estimates were comparable to or slightly higher than Champion's. Seven (7) weeks passed from the time of the sales rep's visit to the day of our installation. The install took two full days to complete. From our conversation with the sales rep, we believed that the install crew were all Champion employees. He made it sound like Champion was the only window company that employed its installers, i.e. anyone working on our job IS a Champion employee. It turned out the install crew is a separate group of guys, not employed by Champion. When I asked about this, another Champion guy told me that the install guys are subcontractors, and what the sales rep meant was that if we were to have a problem with the install, we would deal directly with Champion, not the installers. The installation went relatively well. They damaged one window liner and trim, and so Champion ordered a new liner & trim at their expense and would install it at a later date. The clean up of old windows and debris was pretty good too. Although we found leftover debris to clean up ourselves, it wasn't enough to complain about. It might be important to note to potential customers that if you have plants/landscaping immediately below your windows, the plants/landscaping will be trampled on. Our large living room window was heavy, I'm sure, and so asking the install guys to "tiptoe through our tulips" as they hung that window would've been too much to ask. We completed a feedback survey after the job, and we noted that we would've liked a follow up phone call from Champion to speak to us personally about some concerns. (We expected a follow up call, but didn't get one until after Champion received our survey.) We asked about our back door that they installed (it seemed to be sticking on the bottom, making it sound like we were ripping up the finish of the threshold every time we opened the door, although that wasn't what was actually happening - it just SOUNDED bad), and we wanted to get an estimated install date on the replacement window liner and trim. A Champion employee came out to our house 3 weeks after the install to adjust the back door. He also made a great suggestion for using magnetic cafe rods on the door (steel) to hang a fabric panel on the door's window for privacy. (Thank you!) Our replacement window liner & trim finally arrived and was installed about 5 weeks after the window install date. That all went well, and with that, we considered our job completed. Overall, the experience was a good one. Everyone was friendly and professional. As for the windows themselves, they operate very nicely. We don't notice too much of a difference as far as blocking out road noise (our house backs to a busy road), compared to our original windows. The jury is still out as to whether or not these new windows will keep our house cool in the summer, as the sales rep suggested it should. One final note ... our sales rep asked who referred us to Champion, and we gave the name of a co-worker who used Champion several years ago to replace her home windows. The sales rep said our co-worker would receive $250 for the referral. However, three months has passed since we signed our contract and our co-worker has yet to receive that referral fee.
Description of Work: Champion replaced 16 windows and 1 door in my home. The steel door we bought was $2,160 after discounts. Our old windows were more than 20 years old, and were wood-wrapped, double pane windows.

Removal and installation went smoothly. No mixups with which window went where. Only issue was upon installation of the sliding glass door, the installers didn't have the proper interior trim. So a different person had to come back later with the correct trim. Very happy with the quality of the windows. They are a lot more quiet, and more efficient. The true test will be this next summer. House was definitely warmer in the winter with less drafts and heat loss.
