Our experience with California Closets in Washington state has been an unmitigated disaster. To begin with, they attempted to install a unit on our wall, which failed miserably and resulted in significant damage to the wall itself. (there are about 20 large holes, and they also broke through our kitchen closets) This left us with an eyesore and we must stay in a room with a damaged wall for the foreseeable future. We are still waiting for California Closets to determine that the unit might not be installable and we no longer want to work with them. To add insult to injury, they are now subjecting us to a review before the refund process. They claim they need to conduct "extra investigations," which only adds to the burden of this entire ordeal. This happened in our bedroom and their assumption is that we have to accommodate their process from a mistake that they made. It feels like they're trying to wear us down, making the process as inconvenient and frustrating as possible. Our experience with California Closets (in Kent, WA) in Washington has been a nightmare. If you're considering their services, I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere for a more competent and reliable option, as this has been an incredibly disappointing experience.

On Nov 14th I had a "design expert" come to give me a plan and a quote. I have a vertical log house and the walls in the closet are all logs. When we purchased the house the closet was already outfitted with professionally installed laminate-over-particleboard half-hanging units and a tower of shelves. It was all very nice but I needed drawers and shoe shelves. The designer and I agreed on a plan and I put down half of the $4000 quote and the install was scheduled for today - Dec 22nd. However, the $4000 did not include tearing out the old closet elements. So on the 18th, I moved all my clothing from the 3rd floor master bedroom to the first floor guest bedroom and paid someone else to have the closet gutted and cleaned. California Closet installers came today but said that they could not install on log walls. So now, 3 days before Christmas, two days before my company arrives to stay in my guest room, and 6 weeks after taking my money - I have a mess on my hands. They have said they will refund my money - AFTER CHRISTMAS. This has been one of the WORST, most unprofessional experiences I have ever had with a so-called reputable company.

WOW-talk about standing behind ones product We had California Closets instal a unit in our master bedroom soon after we moved in-March 2000 6 weeks ago my wife found mold on a part of the closet wall hidden by clothes ? how long it was there we are not sure. Called in repair/service company(Maintco) who found that a sewerage pipe had 3 pin holes in it -probably from when closet was installed. They dealt with the mold /clean up and then quoted a price for the repair. Part of the quote included making a piece to replace a part of the original closet system. I called California Closet to tell them what happened and more importantly to have them supply us the correct part. I spoke to Don Koonce who was not happy to hear they caused the original problem. He came out/assessed the damage/report and promptly not only had the closet put back properly but covered the WHOLE cost of the repair. I don't know how many companies out there today would stand behind their product like this -even THIRTEEN YEARS later. I would highly recommend them for any closet system installation.

Very happy! Everything including scheduling the original appointment, the in-home design process (3D 360 degree virtual view of my future closet!), to the follow-up and installation were excellent! I tried using a local, family-owned business and was very disappointed with the in-home appointment and lack of follow-through. I called Calif Closets and am so glad I did.

Description of Work: I ordered a free standing wardrobe cabinet for my bathroom during a remodel of my bathroom. The salesperson failed to take into account that a light fixture would keep one of the doors from opening. This light fixture was one of two celing flushmount fixtures in the bathroom. If the salesperson had told the contractor or i at the time, we could have changed the fixtures to canned lighting. Instead one of the doors did not open for this floor to ceiling cabinet. To change now to canned lighting would cost me an additional 250.00 as my contractor is done. California Closets offer to fix it included making new doors cutting them down thereby losing space in the cupboard and making the cabinet look odd with a hanging fixtures near it or $150 dollars. So for $100 dollars the have lost a two-time customer who intended to hire them for other work. Their position is ridiculous.
