At 10am on the day of the appointment, a truck with 2 plumbers shows up to fix our 'water leak'. I explained that I had asked for an electrician to wire-up the hot tub, and I called their central dispatch who assured me that an electrician would be here between 12pm and 3pm today. Ultimately, no call, no show, but Beacon was more than happy to try again tomorrow and make me wait again. No thanks. Obviously don't need the business.
Description of Work: I called Beacon to schedule an electrician to come out to wire up our new hot tub. We have existing wiring for an old tub that we had replaced, but the wiring was inadequate for the new tub.

great. I had Angies list references from a worried phone call to the 800 Number , but neither of which was appropriate or responsive. I finally resorted to Google search for emergency electrical. Beacon was articulate, responsive, understood the problem and had their tech Steve here within 2 hours. He checked every single outlet in the house, including the GCFI,s of course. None tested faulty. After an hour of tracking, we decided to replace the whole wiring of the circuit since the wire weakness or burnout could not be found. He did that, and my refrigerator/freezer contents were saved. Steve was polite, helped move furniture so he could get to outlets, explained everything he was doing in consumer-friendly terms. He cleaned up any mess he had to make and did not complain about having to work in the crawlspace. The fee included the service call weekend rate, the extensive diagnostic testing, and the rewiring of the entire circuit.

Electrician was very careful and polite. respectful of home. Price is outrageously over price but that's not the tech's fault. 1500 for less than 3 hours is too much. I was stood up by another electrical company though and just ready to get job done so decided to pay the price. If you've got time on your hands, shop around.

I felt like being robbed for their service charge. They charged you $100 for service call, and then add labor and material on top of that. The labor for replacing a shower cartridge is $413, material would be another $100 more if you don't have the right cartridge and trim in hand. So, that's over $500.00 for a job of 30 min to replace a shower cartridge it takes. Stay away from them if you can. They are like the emergency service, with extraordinary charges. Wait till it's working day so that you can find a normal plumber service with reasonable price.

Hi there, [Member Name Removed]! We're not an emergency plumbing company, we just have an incredible response time. That does come at a cost, unfortunately. Our rates don't fluctuate depending on if the situation is an emergency or not. Our services just come at a cost. The national average for a service call with a plumber is between $180 - $800. It sounds like we were right in the middle there. We wish you the best, [Member Name Removed].

Hello there! Thank you so much for leaving a review!
My parents contracted with Beacon Plumbing this weekend to clear an emergency block in their pipes. They went with Beacon on the very high recommendation of their trusted neighbor and subsequently entered into contract with Beacon with a high level of trust for their services. Beacon charged them $7k to clear the block, dig a 7ft deep hole and replace a few feet of pipe. In the process, they unnecessary destroyed a 20 year old rhododendron that I had given to my mom for Mother's Day as a child, then began to pressure my dad to agree to additional work for $8k to line additional sections of pipe. Plumbing is not my dad's area of expertise. He asked my husband and I to look at video of the pipe for the additional work and help him ask the right questions so that he understood the additional unplanned and expensive services. We asked Beacon for three things: clear scope footage of the plumbing so that we could assess changes over time comparing the current state to video footage we have of the same pipe three years ago; a statement of work detailing the labor, materials, and effectiveness of recommended service; a similar statement detailing similar on an alternative approach. On being questioned, Beacon immediately dropped the price to $5,800. On further questioning, they admitted the service might not be needed and determined to bring in an expert. They gave us several stories why they could not provide clear footage of the pipe, providing instead, fuzzy still images of something, then later video footage from an iPhone, not scope, then finally clear scope footage via email after telling us several times their email was broken. While trying to understand why Beacon could not provide clear footage of the pipe as per industry standard practice, the service man became irate and began yelling at my husband. We escalated to his superior who said he would look into it, and that's when finally we received the footage. We never received the detailed bids as requested. Beacon continued to pressure my dad to purchase the additional services without proving a satisfactory explanation for why it was needed. My dad eventually decided to finish out the original scope of work, but not pursue any further services. After he communicated this to Beacon, I received an email from the specialist calling me a profanity while rudely informing me they would not continue any work because my dad had terminated service. I called the home office again. The home office determined the profanity was an auto correct error and determined to do nothing about it. This company clearly thinks it is okay to take advantage of the elderly in an emergency situation while they are feeling scared and vulnerable and pressured to make a decision. Further, they clearly believe acceptable customer service includes yelling at their customer's family members and calling them profanities for trying to obtain the information needed to make an informed decision.

We called Beacon Plumbing at 10:00pm because our toilet would not flush. They told us over the phone $100 to respond but could not give us a full quote until they arrived. Shortly before midnight they arrived and gave us the shocking news it would cost $1,000 to just unbolt the toilet and run the snake down the line to clear the clog. We feel this company preys on consumers in desperate situations like ours. Pull the toilet, run a snake down the line and unclog some toilet paper and it cost us $1057.00!!! Took less than an hour and the technician was rude! Unless you have a spare $1,000 don't call Beacon!! We were left with the decision at midnight to say no and be stuck with no way to use the bathroom or to give in to their giant pricing!

Terrible experience. We needed an additional outlet for holiday lights and called Beacon. The services were provided but the electrician did not obtain a permit. I have called serval times requesting that Beacon obtains and drops off the permit and they have not done so. Now 4 months has past and I am left to figure out how to obtain my own permit and get an inspection conducted with the city. I will never use Beacon again.

We had a sump pump issue on 2/10/2017, which was causing flooding in the basement. Beacon Plumbing came and replaced the pump but less than a week later, the pump couldn't keep up with the inflow of the water because it was the wrong size. This led to further flooding in our basement. Further more, I discovered that the pump install was missing the priming hole 6 inches above the pump. This resulted in me having to call another plumber (Fox plumbing) who came and put in a pump of the right size. When I called Beacon to complain and request a refund of the service, they said the problem is because the outlet pipe wasn't the required 1.5 inches (it is 3/4 inches). However, I showed them a video clearly showing the amount of water being pumped out was not overwhelming the pipe so that was clearly not the problem. Also, Fox plumbing showed me that the power of the pump that was installed by Beacon was low grade and just not powerful enough. The pump that Fox installed is doing the job right and we have had no further flooding. They also indicated that a 3/4 inch pipe is adequate and not the source of the problem. Long story short, their service was 3 times more expensive (had no choice since it was middle of night) and did not resolve the issue. See the pump they installed with the water still overwhelming it

The first thing to know about Beacon, is that they are an emergency plumbing service, not a normal plumber. In exchange for them being available for same day or next day service, their rates are extremely high, to the point of mind boggling. Buyer beware. My neighbor, an elderly woman with limited English had Beacon replace the main water line to her house a few years ago. The charge for this was $7000 which seems excessive, but is not part of this review. Over the summer, the neighbor's water bill indicated that there was a leak. Beacon had provided a 15 year warranty on her installation, and so she called Beacon. The tech who came told her that it was not from their installation, and wanted $500 to check the plumbing in her crawlspace for leaks and another $600 to fix the leak. She told them to leave and they charged her $100. Given the amount of her water bill, and the fact that you could see the water flowing in the shut off valve "box", it was pretty obvious that the leak was not from her plumbing or her entire crawlspace would be under water. Note that the neighbor says that the tech told her it was the Pex line until she told him she had a warranty, at which time the story changed to the issue being her plumbing and not the Pex line. I went into her crawlspace, and in about 10 minutes, checked her plumbing for leaks and wiggled the Pex line coming into the crawlspace. Wiggling the line caused water to bubble up around the hole where the Pex entered her crawl space. Pretty obviously an issue with the Pex. I called Beacon and spoke to Kassen. He was very professional. He did note that Beacon does not give 15 year warranties, but since the tech who wrote up the bill had provided one, they honored it. Within a day of calling, Kassen sent a new tech who came out, diagnosed the problem, dug up the broken line and replaced it, all at no charge. The second tech was very professional, and got the job done. I also got Beacon to refund the $100 service charge they charged my neighbor. I will let the story speak for itself.
Description of Work: Beacon installed Pex line broke and needed to be repaired under warranty.

I called Beacon Plumbing in the morning and was able to have them out the same day! They arrived on time and were pleasant to work with. There was a $75 service charge to have them come out, but since there were no leaks or other obvious issues, the team was not able to do much. He explained the average life can range from 8 - 10 years (some may be shorter or longer) and recommended I replace the unit. We went over what would be replaced (tank, flexes, expansion tank, earthquake straps and mixing valve). The quote was a little higher than another company, but within range and they had the new tank ready to go in the truck. Installation took about 1.5 hours and turned out fine. They hauled the old tank away and cleaned up after they finished. The service fee is a bit gimmicky. It would be worthwhile to consider crediting it (or partially) towards work being performed. If no work is performed, then its fair to have a fee to cover the time spent. In my case, diagnosis was all of about 5 minutes. Overall, fantastic job and would hire again.

Having used them several times in the past, I did not hesitate to call Beacon. Things have changed in their business model. Tech misdiagnosed original issue which resulted in 2 service charges with no work done. During each trip he was here for 5 minutes. Had he spent more time examining the issue, he could have saved me the second trip. They wanted $400 in labor alone to replace a faucet that Moen sent me for free under warranty. I requested a review of this in writing with their customer complaint specialist, who supported his tech by saying sometimes things manifest into bigger issues. Their solution was not to refund me the 2nd service call fee, but to offer me $75 on future labor. This is about principal, not money. They lost a customer.

The plumber came right away. However, he was unable to locate where the cold water pipe was or how my water heater worked. He didn't inspire confidence. He also quoted me $1000 higher than the price I was able to get from someone else. Additionally, the dispatcher told me that I could use a $50 coupon and apply it to the cost of the estimate. However, the plumber came, he told me I could only apply that coupon to the cost of the work done, not to the price of the estimate. The whole thing seemed shady to me. I would never use these people again. Felt like I was getting cheated.

Man, Kasen, I wish I had read these reviews prior to calling Beacon! The only thing that made me "freakin'" upset was the lack of honesty and integrity of Beacon Plumbing and it's employees. They will straight lie to you, demand you sign labor estimates before they do anything and if they don't fix the problem, too bad. Cost me almost $1,000 only to have the problem worse than it was before they started. Then they give you a 3 hour window that they will be there (Comcast doesn't even do that!) and never show up. Even though I called, they said "yeah, guy is on his way soon." an hour later, a voice mail from someone else saying we will be there." No show, no call. Just a voice mail the next morning casually "touching base" for what time I will be available for service. No acknowledgment for anything. And of course, they don't refund money. STEER CLEAR! There are reputable, honest companies out there. Beacon is not one of them

Everytime I turned around they had found some new problem that added thousands to the bill - I don't know if it was necessary or not, but they did show problems via video. My main concern, however, is they used screws in an unpainted wood ceiling beam which left holes which they then filled with putty (after a second visit - the first people didn't remove the screws - I had to call and request it). The screws were to hold plastic in place because of dust. They could have, and should have, used tape or a least just staples. Drilling holes in my beams means I need to paint the entire ceiling and both beams that are in that room. The putty they filled the holes with does not match the color of the stained wooden beam so I'm left with a row of light colored dots. Very disappointed. Customer service person said they'd come out and look at it today, but no sign of him. Only the worker who they sent who had been told simply to remove the screws.

Had an emergency call as we were demolishing the kitchen for a remodel and the electricity went out in the entire house. Called Beacon Plumbing. Bill was great on the phone and honest in his assessment of when Frank, the on-call electrician, could make it out. He was helpful, professional and answered all of my questions (so....patient as well). I will definitely call Beacon Plumbing if I ever need any more electrical or plumbing done again! While promising that the $100 fee would cover diagnosis and a plan for fixing the problem, upon arrival at our house, the tech demanded that my wife sign an authorization for $229 before he did anything. We had two water heaters operating in series, which might have been needed when our children lived in the home. The Beacon tech told me that both gas control valves had failed (one was not working and the other operated "intermittently"). Based on this diagnosis, he then gave us three recommendations ranging from $4-10K dollars. When we rejected his proposals, he charged us $710 to switch two hoses to isolate one of our two hot water heaters. During the half hour it took him to do that work, he burned out our circulating pump which of course, he denies. Weeze's Plumbing subsequently fixed the circulating pump and recommended that we permanently disable the excess hot water capacity at great energy and cost savings to us. After many emails explaining our complaints, Beacon Plumbing took no responsibility for the rudeness and incompetence (let alone damage to our property) of their salesman, but finally agreed to eliminate the $100 trip charge. Of course they threatened turning the matter over to a collection agency and filing a lien on our property. Very unprofessional, indeed. The problem here is that these Beacon "techs" are really commission salesmen and have no stake in minimizing customer costs. This one had one purpose: get the maximum $$$ our of some people who were in a vulnerable position. Of course, the company then takes the same tact when challenged, threaten to damage their customer's credit and lien their property!

Called for an appointment. Told us someone would be out that day. At 9:30 PM they called and said they could not make it that day. I figured we would be first the following day, but they didn't show up until late afternoon. The tech (nice guy) said the igniter board needs to be replaced but really I need a new furnace because the cost of the board is $1000.00 and a new furnace was only 3,500. The part was marked up 800%. I found the part from Reliableparts.com for $139 they wanted $990.00 for the part. The funny thing, that wasn't the problem. It was a airflow valve that had failed a $39.00 Part. The airflow valve needs to detect airflow to start the igniter.

Seattle's large storm last week backed up the drain to the laundry room. There were rocks and lots of sand on the floor. Toilets in the building were causing the water and sand to rise. They came out the same day within an hour, which was good since tenants didn't have use of the plumbing. They were there for about 4 hours jetting out the drain and looking for the problem with their camera, which they found. they need to come back and cut the concrete, dig out the pipe and replace it. I would compliment Tom for his professionalism and energy in trying to ascertain the problem.
Description of Work: used a water jet to clean out a drain line.
