This was the third project Anderson's has done for us, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. All of their employees are expert craftsmen at their respective specialties, take great pride in the quality of their work, and exhibit great professionalism. They show up when they say they're going to show up, work hard, and stick very close to the promised schedule. At the end of each day, there is a complete clean-up, leaving the house usable and presentable. (We provided some storage space in the garage for temporary storage of tools and materials.) Kenny Anderson (owner) operates in a very professional way. He tries to provide very detailed design specifications, a day-by-day work schedule, and a carefully considered project cost commitment that he is prepared to live with. The price is adjusted appropriately, of course, (either up or down) as we work with his design consultant, his daughter, early on to make selections of materials, such as tiles, fixtures, etc. If the customer or workers think of a design improvement during the project, he provides a cost impact so the customer can consider it. (In our case he provided an improvement, a new bathroom light/exhaust fan/heater unit, at his cost.) His prices are fair, but not the cheapest around. (He was not the low bidder on this project.) However, I think it's a case of getting what you pay for. The craftsmanship and professionalism displayed by his employees are unbeatable. The only negative with this job was that Kenny took a couple of weeks to get back to us with the initial cost proposal, and we almost picked another contractor in the meantime. However, I think that was related to an illness on Kenny's part, and this has not been our experience in the past. He does stand behind his work, both parts and labor, with a five-year guarantee, and extends that to a lifetime guarantee for repeat customers. :He was in fact prepared to replace the filter cartridge in a kitchen faucet from a five-year-old kitchen remodel he had done for us, but his employees instead found and fixed the problem by cleaning an in-line filter in a quick disconnect fitting under the sink. This was investigated and repaired at no cost to us even though the problem was caused by grit in the Federal Way water supply and our 44-year-old galvanized iron plumbing.
Description of Work: Anderson's completely rebuilt the shower stall in our master bathroom, from the studs out. This included replacing all the plumbing from the floor up with copper plumbing, new sheetrock, porcelain tile on three sides plus floor and ceiling, a new all-glass (no frame) shower door, new valve and shower-head fixtures, a new recessed light in the shower, a new grab bar for an adjacent tub, some structural repair in an area with some dry rot, some adjacent sheetrock re-surfacing, and a new ceiling-mounted bathroom light/exhaust fan/heater unit. The tiling job allowed for three recessed shelves in one wall (one large one accommodating two large shampoo bottles and two small soap dish openings).

The job started with about a 6 week estimated project timeframe. The project did run over time by about 2 weeks but that was unfortunately the least of our frustrations with this company. Because we were trying to complete construction on the house long distance we relied on Anderson's to keep us informed of progress and issues encountered. Communications were incredibly problematic largely because Kenny wanted to handle communications and delegate to his workers and sub-contractors. He was remarkably unresponsive to emails and calls, often taking a week to get back to us. When he did, he didn't seem to pay attention to anything said. We often had to repeat issues or answer questions 3 times in emails before they were ever acknowledged. Some his employees including Chris were a little better in responding to communications but did not seem to have decision making power. The end result for the floors and kitchen was reasonably good from a cosmetic standpoint but there were real problems with others aspects including work quality: -The billing for the project was not at all transparent. This suggested that we were being charged a mark up that would probably be unacceptable if a customer knew what it was. -A new Kitchenaid dishwasher was installed by them at Kenny's insistence. Not only is it not leveled (it is visibly crooked), but it was epoxied to the bottom of the solid counter and we now have the dilemma of trying to get it fixed without destroying either the counter or the dishwasher. This could be many thousands of dollars. -Ventilation had to be done to allow installation of a range hood. The vent was not installed to code and essentially vents moist air from the kitchen into the attic. During all of this Kenny had personal and health issues that may have been a factor. However, he was always too busy with other jobs to give our project much time. Despite insisting on personally managing our project he never stepped into the house to see it himself, instead relying on reporting by his workers. I think that may have been the greatest disappointment of all when there were significant problems that he should have taken an interest in and responsibility for. Apparently, this company has had its license suspended so I guess we are on our own getting everything fixed.

I sent an email to Kenny Anderson and told him what I needed. Angela came to the house and made notes of what I wanted done, took measuresments, pictures and made sketches Kenny called the next day and we discussed exactly what I wanted done and the materials that I wanted. The start day for the job was July 11, 2011. John and another worker came to the house on time and ready to work. They were working under adverse conditions as we were having a problem getting the power on. They were basically working in a dark cave, but since they are professionals they knew how to hande the situation. The tub was installed and the cement backer board was installled. The next day Jesse arrived to start the tile work in the surround. The whole job was completed midday Friday. The tile surround is perfection. I gave them a sample of the tile that we had used on a previous house as a color reference. The tile Anderson's brought out was perfect. It was a better tile and color than the one that I gave them. Jesse is a master with tile. The surround is absolutely beautiful. The window is a large window, approximately 8 feet wiide. One half of it had what looked like a beebe hole in it. It is on order and will be replaced when the new one comes in. Anderson's workers are professional all the way. They have worked together for years and are in sync when they are working on a job. Thanks Kenny, you came through again.
Description of Work: This is the fifth job that I have had done by Anderson Kitchen & Bath. Replaced existing bath tub and surround. Replaced part of an existing vinyl window that had a hole in it.

I started the project with Phil Rowe sales dept and found him to be impossible to deal with. He would not clearly state the design options where to view them etc and his wording in the contract was extremely vague. Kenny Anderson the owner took over dealing with me after wasting months of time. This was my first bathroom remodel but NOT my first general remodel project. The Andersons whole family are very nice people but they don't communicate well with each other or the clients. It took countless phone calls and emails to accomplish this job. Their workers were good, fairly professional..though it seemed like they relied on telepahy at times to communicate with each other.. I felt that I had to interface between them all to be sure things went smoothly. They have worked together for a long time apparantly.. Workers do good work but they are not used to custom design...they want to do things their way and have very set ideas. They are not so good at explaining things to clients either. There was a construction schedule but it was not always followed yet the project was finished according to terms 2 weeks. It irritated me that Kenny Anderson the owner did not actually visit the job site at all! He had the contracter license and bonds. ( I had no idea if his subs did) and I expected him to come at least once a day to view the progress! I think that this company is used to dealing with a different type of client...a "just get her done" type with no questions. They acted like I was a difficult consumer which I didn't appreciate.
Description of Work: they tore out the old shower in my master bedroom and installed a new cultered marble shower pan, moen monticello fixtures (spout, valve and towel bar), simple pattern ceramic tile on the surrounding walls and 3/8" thick clear glass. 24 X73 " swinging door of estate series by agolite. they also made a tile shelf for soap and shampoo. this involved removing the toilet, old sheet rock and tile. they applied fire tape and mudd, hardi board tile backer, mesh tape and rock screws. the drain and shower valve were in same positions so hook up was simple. the shower size was 24 square feet total. i also had them place new tile ceramic on the toilet area floor outside the shower. They really "nicked" me on this! The tile itself cost 3.36 per foot so only one $56.18 box was used...but they wanted to charge me $844.24 labor for just this small space 14 square feet. There was no unusual subsurface or floor height matching problems. I was furious about this but settled for $500 cost total since this was the time to get it done while the shower was torn up. The last irritation I had was that I was expected to seal the grout myself. Sure, I knew that the grout had to dry for several days before they could do the sealant and it was clearly written into the contract this way ....but man, what a small thing for them to do - was much harder for me to do! It just seems that this should be a part of the job .and not left for the client to do it. :-(

I contacted this company based on the positive reviews on angies list, but because the saleperson I was sent has been so unprofessional, I wo'nt be using them. She is the owner's daughter. I hope the company comes to realize that she is driving business away. Most likely a little customer service training is all that is needed - I don't ascribe any malicious intent, just inconsiderate and unsalesmanlike behavior. In my case I had been entertaining kitchen remodeling bids and all contractors have been right on time for their appointments with the exception of this one. She was about 45 minutes late; she called around 30 minutes after the appointment time to say she was stuck in traffic (it was raining). When she arrived she barely apologized and didn't really talk to me much about what i wanted, just started taking measurements. Then she said her dad would most likely be getting back to me with a proposal. I had to ask for her business card. After not hearing from anyone at this company for 5 weeks I finally called last week. The person who answered the phone immediately got my salesperson to calle me back. And then she was all like, oh I've been so busy, all sorts of things came up, the kind of things you might tell your girlfriend but not your potential customer. At that point I decided that I wouldn't be able to work with them no matter how good their work is, because my confidence in their responsiveness and follow through was shot. Bye bye Anderson Kitchens.

We have a wonderful experience with Andersons Kitchen and Bath. They were on time when the project started and stayed on budget as well as on time. They took the time to keep dust and dirt to a minimum and were also aware of our pet concerns. They made every attempt to make sure we have all utlilities available for us at the end of the day. We liked the quality of their work and enjoyed working with them so much that we are now starting the second phase of our remodel and are about to sign our next project with them which will start soon. We highly recommend them.

The job was excellent. The workers took pride in their job....no matter how small. The remodel was completed a few days after the promised date. However- the high quality finished job compensated for the inconvience of the delay. They also were excellent on day to day cleanup.

Kenny Anderson walks into a house in shambles and in 5 minutes knows how to fix it. He looks at a room that we can't figure out and he knows what to do. He leaves and figures out the estimate for the job and then works with me to stay within or close to my budget. I tell him my dream list and my practical list and he gets it very close to my dream list while keepig my budget in mind. After we accept the final estimate he sets a date for his crew to be there and they are there. The supplie truck comes with them and they start working. If a supplier is late with an item they work around it. All of the workers are respectful, helpful and will go the extra mile. And they put up with all of our silly questions. This is a great company to do business with.
Description of Work: I have used Anderson's Kitchen and Bath on three different jobs. 1. They completely remodeled a full bath and a half bath in my condo. In the full bath they replaced the tub, surround, vanity, toilet, mirror and vinyl. They put in cabinets and shower doors. Everything was exactly as I wanted it. In the half bath they removed and replace the toilet, vanity, vinyl cnd hung a cabinet. They put in washer/dryer connections and drains. Because of the tight space they had to work in, the w/d set up took skill and effort to get around the corner to the drain. It was all perfect when they finished. 2. This job was more extensive on a 856 sqft house. The bathroom floor was completely rotted out and had to be replace. They replaced all of the necessary plumbing, the floor, surround, tub, vanity, mirror, lighting and toilet. They used quality materials for insulation and wallboard. The w/d space was a moldy mess and it was all beautiful when they finished. They replased a large eight foot window. The kitchen was unworkable until they rearanged the cabinet, removed a suffit, and moved the stove. They removed a wall to open up the dinning area. They put in closet doors, replace siding that took quite a bit of searching to find because of the age of the house. They repaired a hole on the outside of the house. Replace old doors and many small things that I can't remember. 3. This was a 1167 sq ft house that needed a completely new kitchen. It was a small kitchen and badly arranged. They put in all new, modern cabinets, took out part of a wall and installed an eating bar, replace all the vinyl in the kitchen, adjoining laundry room and mud room. They replaced all of the windows with double payne vinyl windows. Replaced the tub, surround, vanity, lighting and vinyl in the bathroom. They patched walls, replaced walls, built a closet, replaced missing door frames. There are probably a hundred things that they fixed that I can't remember or am unaware of.

We got a bid that we were happy with. Anderson's let us know that some materials were on sale and we were able to work with them to get the sale price. We had some change orders and the pricing on the changes were very fair. Anderson's scheduled us in as quickly as they could. Having never done anything like this before, we learned alot of things and Anderson's were patient with us. There were a couple of minor delays due to the suppliers not getting materials to Anderson's but we were kept advised of the schedule changes. Even with the delays, the projects were all completed on schedule. Anderson's Kitchen and Bath guarantees their work and if there are any issues they do what it takes to fix the problem. All of the workers were polite and did an excellent job. We are very happy with the remodel and would recommend Anderson's Kitchen and Bath for any remodel job. We will be using Anderson's Kitchen and Bath for all future remodeling jobs.

Very well. Anderson performed very high quality job. Our old bathroom was quite dated and frequently leaked/had some mold issues. Anderson ripped out everything we had, moved locations of the tub around and installed a stand-up shower. They also applied new floor tile and wall tile. The place looks fantastic. We did run into unexpected issues with the tile supplier which delayed the remodel, but this was clearly the fault of the supplier and not the contractor. Kenny Anderson was great to work with and did a nice job at keeping us updated on what to expect throughout the remodel.

When I started the project, I didn't have a very good idea of what would be entailed in a bathroom remodel or quite what I wanted. I called 4 different contractors either recommended by Angie's List or a friend. Three came out to look at the bathroom and I started to learn about options and opportunities. Only two provided me quotes, only one of which was in writing: Anderson. Overall, I was unimpressed by the other contractors and greatly appreciative of Anderson's professionalism and detail. Paul, the estimator, had come out and listened to my basic ideas, asking me many questions about my preferences. His written estimate had several different options including a few that would be much less expensive but still be an improvement. I went with the higher end options because I wanted my bath remodel to be the only bath remodel I need for the next 20 years. He worked with me, showing me samples and helping me delve into the specifics of colors and finishes, coming back to me quickly with revised quotes when I wanted to look into different options. I was extremely pleased with the upfront, pre-construction work. The rest of the project went just as well. The workers who came out (disassembly, plumbers, electricians, etc.) were all very professional, polite, and dedicated to making my experience very positive and ensuring that I was consulted whenever there were different options or surprises that required a change. (For example, because of a load bearing beam, the tub needed to be built up a couple of inches higher to accommodate the beam and the plumbing, so we worked out that a short step would be built on one side--I'm only 5 ft. tall, so being able to easily climb in and out of the lovely deep tub is important to me.) Every day when the workers left, everything was neat and tidy. They sought to make a minimal impact on my lifestyle. The remodel wasn't fast or cheap--Several of the parts such as the angled shower door had to be custom made. But I'm extremely happy with it and would happily recommend Anderson to friends and family.
Description of Work: Extensive bathroom remodel including removal of old shower, tub, and countertops. Job started out in excellent fashion. Great communication, crew on site as planned. Demo accomplished per schedule, site kept clean, crew very professional. Framing and wiring went as planned. Electrical guy was outstanding and very thoughtful about placement of switches, outlets and cost. Then the clouds...drywall installed without insulation(quickly corrected). Plasterers did poor job leaving very visible seams(also corrected after I pointed it out). Painter was a disaster-didn't show up, lots of rework, splatter, fingerprints, poor quality. To their credit, Anderson's eventually replaced the guy and tried to fix everything they could. But now we are well behind schedule. Some issues cropped up with the cabinets and countertops. All were resolved to my satisfaction over time, but it took many months. The bottom line is that I am mostly satisfied with the work as it was finally completed. Anderson's has been very professional throughout the effort, not making excuses but trying to make it right. In fact, they came back a year after the install on very short notice to correct a leak from the toilet seal. Through the job there were the usual adjustments for small changes and for things that I provided beyond the basic contract. I really need help with getting a final bill from Anderson's. I have been waiting for over a year. I believe that with all the pulls and takes we are probably even, or I may be owed a small amount(having paid them 90% of the contract). At this point I would be delighted to have a "paid in full" receipt in my drawer and be done with it. I don't want a lien to appear someday.

We entered project with some ideas and Anderson himself talked us into better options without blowing our budget to pieces. His company was the third bidder and offered the best value. The pre-builts were measured and ordered and upon delivery a crew of experienced carpenters/woodworkers showed up and deconstructed and reconstructed the best looking kitchen and most valuable room in our house. I would unreservedly recommend this company for kitchen or bath remodel.

Due to financial reasons, I've put this project on hold. Having said that, the professionalism of Anderson's is top notch. Paul gave me a clear and concise proposal whereas other remodelers did not. He was even able to meet me on a Sunday at their showroom. That was another plus, to able to see the actual product in a showroom. Other contractors I've met could not provide as detailed info as to what they will put in and how. Not even any pictures. ($7000.00)

Overall it went well. The planning and construction phases went pretty much as scheduled. Victor was very helpful in helping us pick out backsplash tile and matching flooring for the countertops we chose. The countertop subcontractor showed up as scheduled to do the templates and then did a great job with the finished product. There was always someone here as scheduled, but it was usually only one worker at a time. Things could have been done quicker had there been two workers here. In the end, the job went pretty well. We did have communication problems with the company. In one instance, someone showed up a day earlier than we expected due to a scheduling mishap. We never really got an accurate production schedule and this is probably why someone showed up a day early to do a job. During the job, one of the workers accidentally damaged the new fridge, but they promptly got a new part and repaired it. They also installed a new oven hood for us at no extra charge. The workers were great
Description of Work: Replaced kitchen countertops, sink, sink hardware; kitchen floor; modified/cut lower cabinet to make room for new appliances; contractor replaced wall trimming upon installing new floor; replaced bathroom floor and installed new toilet.

The experience went very well for a fairly large remodel. The salesman/design consultant was a great assist in helping us plan the job and pick the materials. The pricing was reasonable for good quality work. All the employees that did the work were skilled, considerate, and easy to work with. In sum, we found everyone associated with the company, including the owner, to be honest, fair, and interested in making sure we ended up with what we wanted. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Total remodel of kitchen, laundry room, and one bath. In addition, some remodel and wiring changes made to several other rooms.

I called to set appointment for someone to come out to give us a bid to remodel bathroom and laundry room. The girl on the phone said that Paul T would call me. He never did. A week later I called back and she told me that Victor would call me back. He called and we set appt. of 2/21 at 4:30. He not only didn't show, but he didn't call to tell me he wouldn't show. I will not call again.
Description of Work: No work performed.
