Great,from the start to end!! Ed was prompt, and explained everything to us then went about his business. He finished in less than 2hours including clean up. He showed us the parts that he had replaced. We will tell all of are friends about him!! It was a pleasure to work with Ed. We even got a senior discount, as my husband is ove the hill, slightly.

They did an excellent job. They put in plumbing for washer, sink, and hooked up my gas. They were prompt and quick. I am very happy with them.

Ed and his partner came exactly at the day and time we had arranged, they let us know when water would need to be shut off so that we could plan, they brought the material into our basement, made no messes and the boiler and all the piping hanging on our basement wall is as close to art as plumbing is likely to get. They consulted several times with us on the venting system to confirm that we understood where the venting was going and that we approved. When installing the new piping across the basement they used (we thought) a very efficient configuration. The work took one more day than they had bid because we had an extra heater installed. Otherwise, they would have completed on time per bid. We had a double utility sink on the wall where we hung the boiler and Ed asked permission to replace the double with a single so that the piping would be a little less complex. He provided that sink at no extra cost and it's a-okay. When the work was done, our basement looked better than it ever had.

I was sure I was going to have to replace the boiler unit as it is almost 20 years old. A heating repair technician from a different company had looked at it a month earlier had informed be it needed to be replaced and quoted me over $10,000 to do it. I wanted a second opinion, American Craftsman Plumbing and Heating came highly recommended on Angie's List so I emailed them to see if they would come to Tacoma and look at my heating system and give me an estimate for repair or replacement. I received a call back within hours and set an appointment for 7:30am two days later. (I love companies that start work early!) The service man arrived exactly on time, and within fifteen minutes told me that most likely it just needed a good cleaning and service and that he could do it right then and now and not have to come back again. He estimated it would take one to one and half hours to do, and quoted me $150.00 plus tax. I agreed and he started work immediately. An hour and half later he was done and gave me a list a two items he recommended replacing (he would have to order), and said overall the furnace should be good for several more years. I felt he knew his business and was more interested in saving me money and giving me a safe and working furnace if he could, then selling me a brand new furnace which I m sure he would have made much more money on. I will be taking him up on the recommendation and have him come back and replace the two parts when he gets them ordered. I will use American Craftsman Plumbing and Heating again, and have recommended them to other friends.

I asked for four bids. One company had little experience and did not bid a system we would want. The remaining three, including Ed's company, obviously knew what they were doing, had extensive experience, came well recommended. I felt the other two contractors were better salesmen, but I wanted the best crafts-person. Ed is quieter, but extremely competent. One bid was about $10,000 higher than his, The other was comparable. Ed was willing to discuss the project and change his components to match our requests. He was prompt responding to our initial contact, was quick with his bid, and always got back to us immediately. He came promptly when scheduled, worked full days with one helper, did a careful job that looks professional and tidy. When our natural gas contractor went awol, Ed, who also carries a natural gas license, did the gas work and charged less than the other guy would have. The system works perfectly. I have already recommended Ed to close friends who need their system redone, since it was installed 11 years ago, when radiant systems were less common and theirs does not work all that well.
