Duke and his crew did a fantastic job. They arrived on schedule. Took down and hauled away the old fence and had the new fence built in two days. We highly recommend them!

Very good. His price is reasonable and quality was good. We went back and forth with our models and he was very easy to work with and offered lot of flexibility. My neighbor also used his services.

This was an OUTSTANDING job all the way around. Duke from Alki Fence came out to go over our requests with us. He offered some great ideas as well. The actual work was punctual, professional, and included cleaning up each and every day. We are going to have Duke of Alki Fence come back to stain our beautiful new fence (when the sun comes out for awhile!) and hopefully we will have some other projects waiting for his expertise!

I share my backyard fence with 4 different neighbors and part of the fence shared with 2 of them is broken. I wanted to get it fixed and got estimated from 3-4 different contractors but Duke was the only one who impressed me. He was very professional and thorough. Unfortunately both my neighbors have refused to share the cost so far and so I have not been able to proceed with us. Alki will be my first choice if they agree to share the cost.

The lack of communication and punctuality suggest a lack of commitment, and does not inspire confidence in this company.

I had to have a call back to get the job finished right. The fence was not adequately assembled and more bolts and screws were necessary to give it the rigidity that it should have had originally. I had to have them back to do that. It turned out how I envisioned it would. After the call back and the resolution to that problem, it is what I expected I would get, in terms of the fence I asked them to build. It was my least successful experience of the last 3 service providers I have used.

Alki's bid was just over half the cost of the bids we got from All-City and Alpine (whose bids came in roughly equal to each other). This actually made me nervous (sometimes you DON'T want to go with the low bid...), but the generally positive reviews on Angie's List convinced me to go forward with Alki. My point of contact for the job was Duke. He did the estimate, and made sure he was on-site to ensure the posts were sunk according to my specs. He came back once more during the one-day job, and then again the following day to make sure everything was completed and cleaned up. Two guys did all the work. They seemed fairly competent in general. They were open to my suggestions and worked with me to come up with a final plan for the fence line and details of the fence build. During the build, they made a style decision that I didn't agree with (regarding board spacing), without consulting me first. However, when I pointed out my concerns, they were respectful and responsive, and went back to re-do the section according to my specs. They also essentially chain-smoked throughout the job, and while the smoking didn't bother me, I found at least five cigarette butts around the fence site once they had cleaned up and left. I brought this issue up with Duke when he returned the next day to inspect the job, and he was again very respectful and apologetic. The finished fence fits our specifications well. There are a few spots where the boards aren't 100% lined up, and the spacing varies a bit between panels, so I wouldn't call this the perfect boutique fence. But the low price in comparison to other bids makes up for these minor flaws, in my mind.

They came in when promised, were willing to expand the job on the spot and adjusted the pricing accordingly. They got the job done in one day, and did an excellent job cleaning up their materials. My only complaint would be they did not use "like materials". I felt what we had before was better quality than what we got on the replacement; would have liked to have been clear on this ahead of time. Other than that, I was very satisfied with their work.

Their price was 40% less than other fencing contractors.

Duke was very quick in replying to emails and getting us a revised bid (we originally were not going to get the 2 new gates down). We settled on a start date that the had to cancel because of a fall windstorm but started the very next day. They came first thing in the morning and by the time we got back from work the had removed the old fence, all of the ivy on the fence and had all the post in the ground. By the end of the second day we had a brand new fence and could not be happier with the work the did.

We set an appt for an estimate 5 days in advance for between 10 and 11 on a weekday. At 12:30 we hadn't heard anything so I contacted them and they said they'd be there by 1 (we needed to give them our address and contact info again so I'm thinking it wasn't recorded). They arrived at 1:30. Their estimate was approx $500 over another estimate we received from Economy Fence. We went with Economy Fence because they were on time and responsive (gave us a preliminary quote over the phone). Economy's sales rep - Fred - was very polite and experienced.

Duke and his staff were very friendly and helpful. They quoted a price that was significantly better than their competitors (we got 3 bids). Alki seemed to have better design sense than their competitors: the fence choices they showed us were prettier and had nicer details, at a lower price. We ended up choosing a beautiful custom design that the other companies didn't seem to offer. We appreciated that they built the fence at our location: no pre-fabricated panels, which would not have looked as nice. They worked with us to figure out how to extend our fence to enclose more of our yard. We found them very easy to work with. They completed the work in the time they estimated; the workers were very friendly; and the resulting fence looks great. We're very happy. During the work we made some additions and changes and Duke was very accommodating. They didn't have our property marked for gas lines and unfortunately they hit a gas line during the installation, resulting in the gas company having to come out and fix it (at Alki's expense). Also, the stain we chose didn't look like we expected, To their credit, the workers painted only one section of fence (that was in the back and behind a tree) and checked with us to make sure the color was alright. When it was not what we expected, they went out and purchased a better color and finished the job the same day. I strongly recommend having Duke create a sample of the stain on a spare piece of wood so you can see what the color will really look like before the full fence is painted.

Great! They hauled away our old fence and put the new one in in about 3 days. They also found non-standard materials we were interested in and still kept things in budget.

They were on time and I like the way that he gave me two different estimates. The drawing was very good, he gave me options for different types of fences, and he had with him all of the literature that he needed. He did very well.

I spent about $1500 on the job. They were fantastic. I used them again for a bid for clearing the backyard. So, I will be using them for few more works, which I haven?t scheduled yet. They were great. They were on time, cleaned up, and didn?t leave any mess behind. The owner was exceptional. I will use them again in the future.

Based on the work done at two of my neighbors' homes, I called Alki Fence for an estimate. I scheduled an appointment on 7/2/10 to show the salesman, Duke, what I was looking for: iron driveway gate, iron sliding gate and fencing, installation and additionally installing a gate opener on the driveway gate. He arrived on time and took notes. He didn't measure, but took my word on what the measurements were. He said he'd probably be able to email me an estimate that evening or next morning. Two weeks later I called, saying I hadn't received the estimate. Duke replied he was waiting on pricing for the gate opener. One month later I called because I still hadn't received the estimate and Duke answered, saying he had sent it out and would send it again. But I still haven't received it. I've even emailed Duke twice so he would definitely have the correct email. In one email I asked him to be upfront and tell me if Alki Fence couldn't do the job so I could move on. Since there's been no follow up call about an estimate, I believe one has never been drawn up.

I asked Alki Fence to give me an estimate for replacing our backyard fence. I also had a lot of questions that I wanted to discuss with the estimator. Their estimator arrived on time, and while he was certainly friendly enough his ability to speak English was very poor. I had questions about the differences between full panel and modified panel fencing and I also wanted to discuss alternatives for the fence along the back of our yard. It was so hard to communicate that I just gave up trying to get my questions answered. We did get a quote that looked reasonable, but I wasn't sure about some of the details of what they would install and I was worried about being able to discuss any problems with their crew. I ended up going with another vendor who had a lower bid and whose estimator spoke perfect English.

The bid process was quick and easy, and they were able to get their workers out to replace the fence within only a few days after I accepted the bid. Demolition took less than a day, and the posts were installed that afternoon. The new fence was built two days after that, giving an extra day to allow the concrete for the posts to cure in the rain. I checked in with the foreman a few times a day during the process, and felt that the level of communication was pretty good, although I had to ask him if he had any questions for me - I would have expected him to be asking me questions without any prompting. I give them a "B" for quality and a "C" for professionalism for a few reasons - the final product looks nice, but 1) they never asked me where the property line was, and the new fence appears to be a few inches into my neighbor's property; 2) the workers didn't seem to have much respect for the landscaping (my yard isn't the nicest-kept bunch of plants, but they were on the verge of trampling some low-lying bushes and I had to move their extension cord after they ran it straight through some closely-planted bush beans and cauliflower in my garden); 3) they left bits of concrete and slurry on the ground instead of cleaning it up; 4) the bottom of the fence sometimes departs from the ground level, leaving some gaps that a small dog could get through.

I would recommend Alki to anyone. I received several quotes for the job, three of which were ridiculous in price. Alki beat them all and did a fast turnaround and installed the fence in 1-day. It was for 118 linear ft of fence. HIGHLY recommend, easy to work with and very friendly and honest.

We had several companies give us prices on various parts of this work and overall Alki Fence was the lowest. We had read some good things about them on Angies list and so decided to give them a try. They have done a great job with some very demanding terrain. We had no idea what we were going to do with the area going into this project but we knew we needed to make it usable and Duke and his crews helped us figure out what to do and we are very happy with the overall results. As with any company, not everything was great, there were a few times when they said they would show up and weren't able to because of scheduling conflicts and making sure that they come back and really take care of the little stuff is sometimes difficult, but overall they are responsive and friendly and did a great job for the money.

It went better than I could have imagined. the fence and gates were finished before they were supposed to be and that relieved much of my stressful move.

If you need a budget fence that is good quality, these guys are great. They don't offer super creative fancy designs but they show up when they say, they work quickly, the fence looked great. They had to come back to repair the gate because the foot holder was not aligned properly but they came and fixed it. Overall, I was very satisfied with their work for the money I paid.

This company is very nice to work with and do a great job. I would definitely use them again. They came out and gave me a quick estimate and came back on time to perform the job as scheduled. A piece broke on the handle of the gate and they came back out and fixed it promptly. 6 foot fence with opening doors for the driveway.

These guys were fast workers. My neighbor and I had spent hours trying to get all of the posts out and they made it look easy and taking out the last few we couldn't get to at the last minute was no problem for them. They did a beautiful installation exactly to specifications with quality materials in a very short period of time.

Duke was very courteous and professional and gave us an honest and competitive estimate. We accepted the estimate and they were able to start working on it the following week. The day of the work, Duke showed up with 2 guys and they immediately started to work. Duke came back mid day to check on things and all was well. At the end of the day, we were extremely satisfied with the quality of work that the guys did. We wrote him a check and thanked them for the work. Duke even followed up with us the next week or so to make sure we were satisfied with the work. I would highly recommend getting any fence/gate work with this company. They're very honest and the whole process was a breeze. We felt like we got our money's worth and got a great looking fence in exchange.
