I Emailed asking if interested in providing a bid. Duke, one of the owners, called within an hour. We set up appointment and he arrived promptly at time set. Duke provided a detailed bid for the fencing project we needed done (a 4 part project: tear down and haul away old fencing and Ivy bush attached; rebuild shared fence with neighbor, attaching front fence for neighbor, and a gate for our front section). Duke even separated out the bid onto two separate sheets. In addition he provided a recommendation on style for the neighbors front side and very happy with how well it turned out looking. Work was scheduled for the following Monday (less than a week out). Duke and the crew arrived on time. The first day they hauled away all the old stuff and set the all the post. The Second day they completed they finished the job. Everything was done and cleaned up...in fact I was home both days and didn't realize they had already finished. Our neighbors and we are very pleased with the outcome. It was a pleasure doing business with Alki. Duke was professional, courteous and easy to work with. He answered all my questions and provided excellent service. I wish I would have phone Alki first time around (had done a bid process month prior and issues came up with company we had planned on having do the work) Thanks again Duke! They installed railings along my stairs - great work but had to negotiate a bunch on price.

It went wonderfully! I met with Duke who immediately understood what we were asking for and suggested several different ways to achieve the fence that we wanted. After a decision was made the fencing went up without a hitch. The two workers (who did not speak English) worked very diligently to complete the job within the day. They cleaned up after the work was finished and left quietly. We are very happy with the results. Thank you Alki Fence and Duke!

I called the provider for an estimate and he came right out to give me a bid. They then came out the following week to install the fence around the pool. Did a very nice job, it looks very good. I had asked them to install a gate to swing one way which they did but when I went to open the gate it didn't swing all the way open like I thought it would so it limited the access. I called Duke about it and told him the gate needed to swing the other way, he came right out and reversed it and now it works properly. I felt they should have shown me when they first installed it that it didn't work well and should swing the other way instead of installing it anyway. I had ordered a chain link gate for my driveway and when they came out they had made a wrought iron gate which was more expensive. I had them install it anyway because it had been made. When I told Duke that I had ordered a chain link gate he said he thought I wanted a wrought iron gate because that is what they had installed at the other house. I am very pleased with the gate and it does look very nice but I ordered the chain link because I really didn't care, it was just a driveway gate and I didn't want to spend the extra money for the wrought iron so I felt he should have discounted the price as it was their error. The areas that were welded are pretty noticeable and someone who is picky about that might have an issue. All in all though I am pleased with the work and they were very nice and efficient.

They were great. They showed up when they were supposed to and had a whole crew come out. They got it all done when they should and cleaned up after themselves. They came back on a Sunday to take a fence post out that was too close to a tree.

Contacted them by phone and set a date / time for them to come by to give us an accurate bid. I took half a day off but they never showed up, not a call, nothing. I lost half a day. Won't ever use again.

It went well. He needed to return on 9/30 to complete the work on the neighbor's side.

Duke came out early on the scheduled day of 9/10/2013 and did a number of measurements. He went to his car to come up with an estimate and when he was walking back, my wife came home. She asked for a number of different items related to the original work and he left saying he would either e-mail the estimate or mail it. After one week I e-mailed asking for the estimate and never heard anything. He kept saying his company could do the work as we added more items to be done. Ninety percent of the work was related to one sliding gate. The other ten percent was related to a walk-in gate adjacent to the sliding gate and a walk-in gate in the front. As I stated earlier, the estimate came about two weeks after this information was gathered because Duke's wife had just had the couple's first child and Duke took two weeks off. Anyway Duke told us when the work would begin and his crew arrived about a half hour after that time because they had to load supplies into their vehicle. They began work immediately and finished most work on the two gates after the concrete had been poured. They came back on October 14, 2013 to finish the work, but the 5 days the concrete had sat was not long enough for the concrete to get hard, so they will come back on October 18, 2013 to finish. The work looks great with only about an hours worth of work left. My wife and I are completely satisfied.

They came out and provided estimate. I called them twice in 7 days to schedule installation of fence, however no one has returned call.

I had a pleasant experience with Alki Fence. I remember a friend of mines had Alki Fence did their fence a few years ago and recommended them. The project was for my rental property that has an old fence which was falling apart. I didn't wanted do the entire property just yet. Only one side and some repair work. I called Alki Fence for an estimate, Duke came out and gave me a quote on the spot. I schedule the work and it was completed in not time. The project took them one day to complete. I'm happy with the job, it was good quality and done quickly. I'll probably need to replace the rest of my fence in the future since it's almost 20 years old. Whe I do I'll certainly call Alki fence back. I called Alki fence back to repair my cedar patio. The top boards were bad so I had them replace it. It turn out great. Great job.

Duke is a very nice guy. His crew is fast, professional, and does great work.

They did a great job with my new fence. I had an old fence that was falling down. I contacted them for an estimate and they came out very quickly. Alki fence built a brand new cedar fence, 6' feet high by 100' feet and remove my old fence. The crew did a fantastic job. I am very pleased with the experierence and the work. I had a couple estimates and they were very competitive in comparison plus they did the job in a few days notice. I would definitely hire and recommend Alki fence to my neighbors and friends.

I am an Angie List member. I share a fence with my neighbor, who is not an Angie's list member. I gave her the contact information I gleaned from Angie's List. She called the contractor and they sent a young man out to do the bid. I had to work that day. She tried to explain that we shared the fence, would like seperate estimates for each of us. The young man said that he would measure. My neighbor went into her house and by the time she reached the top of her steps, he had pulled away in his truck. He just left. She called Alki back to complain, and as of 2 days ago 7/20, they had not returned her call. We are not sure why this happened. Very diappointing since Alki fencing was highly rated.

Terrible communications. 3 phone conversations, 1 left voice mail, 2 emails, 1 photoshop mockup and complete written job description provided without a single reply from him (Duke). I had a simple job (time sensitive) to repair our dog fence after some construction. I contacted Duke by phone back in mid June and said we were hoping to get someone scheduled for mid July to do these repairs as soon as possible after a new deck went in. I called and spoke with him initially (around June 15) and he said he'd probably be available and to send the details over by email. So I did a full Photoshop mockup and written description and sent it over. After about a week I resent the message with a follow up note. No responses. A few days later I called and got ahold of him. He didn't seem to remember who I was or anything about the job. So I reminded him. He said he'd review the email that night and get back to me the next day. Nothing. A week or so, and one unreturned voice mail later, I called and spoke with him again. Again he didn't seem to remember me or anything about the job. He asked for my email address and told me he'd review the job when he got back to his office and respond that day and get back to me. Again nothing. No responses & no follow ups after several weeks. I used to frown on people who leave bad reviews when no work was performed but Duke wasted my time and showed complete disregard for my project and our communications. I had to find someone else on short notice here because he didn't follow through on our original verbal dialog in which he suggested he'd be generally available during my time frame. Before writing this review I doubled checked my sent mail and verified that I had been sending messages to the same email address he has on his web site. Although they boast that they service all of the Puget Sound, Marysville is not in their service area. Also, although I am very good at understanding accents, I had a difficult time conversing with the woman who answered the phone, as I don't think she understood me.

The estimate Duke wrote up for me was detailed. Communication was excellent. The work was planned for a week or so later and the next day there was an opening so Alki came and did the work. Two men were here about 90 minutes and did quality work and cleanup. I had no issues with language that others have mentioned. The workers were Vietnamese I believe and were very positive, friendly and professional. I will use Alki again.

Duke was prompt with a quote, which came in much cheaper than other companies in the area. They were very flexible in scheduling, and completed the work in two days - one to set the posts, and one to put up the fence. It looks great, and I am very happy with the work. I would highly recommend Alki Fence Co.

It went great! Duke was very responsive and his bid was very competitive. Some other highly rated fence companies provided estimates that were much higher. They made sure every inch of my fence was professionally fit and really maximized our yard space. My only quibble is that my communication needed to be via phone. I'm busy and sometimes email is more convenient, but they definitely responded faster via phone. To each their own! I highly recommend working with Alki Fence.

Duke responded in the evening to an email I sent out at the end of the same day. We agreed upon a date for an estimate 3 days later and his father Minh came at the exact time to discuss the work. Existing opening needed to be narrowed to only one gate instead of a double involving new posts and filling the space on each side. He gave us a quote on the spot, for both gates and we agreed. We expected to wait in line as it is the busy season, but unexpectedly they came the next day, a Saturday!, and completed the work in about 4 hours. Took away the old gate. Everyone was polite and helpful and the work is sturdy and looks great! A pleasure to work with.

Well,he arrived 15 minutes early and one knock on the door two seconds later, before I could reach the front door the guy was in his truck driving away . I ran after him to get him to stop so I can talk to him about our fence .After all this HIS price was too high. no sevice was provided.d

Duke was very pleasant when he came out to give me an estimate a little over a month ago. I told him I would get back to him, because I was going to talk to a few other companies first. It turned out that Alki's price was significantly lower than anyone else's, so I got back to Duke and told him I'd like to go with his estimate. I asked to make a few modifications, though, and he was accommodating there, and reduced the price a bit based on what I changed. Their crew was supposed to come yesterday to do the work, but had truck trouble, and had to postpone the job to today. But Duke called me promptly yesterday, and I was impressed that they could reschedule it so quickly. The two crew members who came today to do the work were very nice, and reviewed everything with me to make sure it was how I wanted. They worked very diligently. Duke came by several times to check with his workers. I am very pleased with the result. Everything looks just as I hoped it would.

I have learned a lesson after this experience: Do not always go with the lowest bidder on an estimate. And, too, sometimes Angie's list's ratings can be deceiving. Highly rated on Angie's list, and the lowest bid for a small job: I chose Alki Fence Co. The original installation date was postponed because they were backed up on jobs. (A worker was sick and that put them behind in their schedule.) The actual fence installation was OK. Not great, and certainly not something I'd show off as a means to recommend this company. The basic lines of the installation look good. However, whenever the installers had to "corner" the fencing, their job got sloppy. They did not bring a miter saw and had to saw at angles that created ugly gaps where angled fence piece meets the post. When I did my walk through with the owner, I had to note this and ask that they file down the very sharp edges so as not to be potential cutting edges for our pets and other humans. When I went back after the guys had left I saw that they did not file down, but sawed off the sharp fence pieces. The finished product looks good from a distance. At close inspection there?s much that is shoddy and unprofessional. I will not work again with this company, nor will I recommend them.

Duke the contact person is very nice. They installed 2 days. Day 1 installed posts and rest the following work day. I think they did a good job.

They came promptly to provide an estimate, I thought the estimate was VERY reasonable, especially given that it wasn't much more than a similar repair I had done 10 years ago on another section of the fence. I did not bother to get other estimates. They came exactly when they said they would to do the work and finished when they said they would. They left no mess whatsoever. I'm very happy with the quality. The only trouble I had was understanding Minh's English, but he always cleared it up by writing down what he meant. It was all very efficient, good quality, and good price. I will definitely use them again when I need this type of work.

Very pleased with the cedar fence provided at a cost significantly lower than other estimates.
