+ -1 moreThis company will not be hired for this job. If they cant show up for an appointment for an estimate they probably wouldnt show up for the install either. And the salemen doesnt follow up on commitment to customers, at least not with me.
Description of Work: I scheduled 2 appointments to get an estimate on replacing my gas furnace. The first appointment the salesmen didn't show up so I rescheduled, the second appointment I had to call after the appointed time had passed to find out where the salesmen was and if he was going to show up. When he finally arrived he provided me with an estimate which he was to email to me. I never received the email, that being said this company is definitely out of the running of the company I will hire for this job.

+ -1 moreFor several years as oil prices have increased, we've been exploring ways to reduce our reliance on our fuel oil burner for heat. The first thing we looked into was increasing the insulation of our circa 1965 home. When an Angie's list "Big Deal" came along about a year ago for a complete energy analysis that included the blower test and thermal imaging, it seemed like the ideal thing, so we bought it for $149. However, life happened and we forgot about it until just before the offer was going to expire. When we finally did call, they scheduled our appointment without any hassle. The first guy they sent out to us wasn't prepared to do the work as described in the "Big Deal", which was annoying, He was there to look at our forced air system (we don't have a forced air system), and that they didn't do the thermal imaging anymore, but he'd talk to the owner and figure out what they could do. This was really the only thing that could be called a "problem" in our experience with AAA. Mistakes happen, and the one of the marks of a good service company is their ability to handle them when they occur. They called us back as they had promised to reschedule the appointment for the energy analysis and they ended up sending out one of the owners (Shaun) on a Saturday. He spent a lot of time with us with the thermal imager and talking to us about various designs and options to help reduce the expensive oil heat. He was friendly with a no-pressure sales approach. Shaun just informed us about the various options that his company could do for us and let us decide. We spent a few days back and forth via email of discussing multiple system designs that would work for both our heating needs and budget. Shaun was always very responsive. We finally found a design that would work for us and decided to purchase a ductless heat-pump system from AAA Heating. Due diligence we called several other heating companies for over-the-phone quotes on the same units. AAA Heating was in the middle of the pack, slightly lower than the average price (personally I tend to be suspicious of the absolute lowest bid, thinking they hire sub-standard people, or cut corners.) Overall the AAA price was about where it should be. The day of the install, Paul and Ron showed up on time and prepared to do the work. I'm particular about the way I want things done with our house, and they put in the extra effort to accommodate what we wanted and to minimize the aesthetic impact of the system. They were friendly, and didn't seem to mind all of my questions and desire to watch them work. They completed the work the same day. After they cleaned up, everything was as good or better than they found it. Our system is running great, and we haven't used our oil heat once since it was installed. All-in-all an excellent experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.
Description of Work: Originally they performed an Energy Analysis from one of the Angie's list "Big Deals". After talking to Shaun extensively we ended up purchasing a Daikin ductless heat pump system with 2 air handlers from them.

The tech that came for the repair was on time and really did a thorough diagnosis of the problem. He walked me through what was causing the problem and explained everything to me throughout the process.

+ -1 moreWe recently moved into a new house with a furnace that had not been serviced since installation 9 years prior. AAA Heating came highly recommended from our home inspector. Allen gave us a window of 3-5pm but at 2:00 he let us know he could be available earlier if that would be more convenient for us, so he was at our house by 2:30. After spending a little bit of time trouble shooting he determined that our furnace was not getting any power and they were not licensed to diagnose electrical issues in the wall. We signed up for their Ultimate Savings Agreement which essentially covers the cost of 2 annual services in addition to discounted rates for emergency calls and/or parts replacements. Since we paid for a service call but Allen was not able to service at that time, he offered to come back once we resolved the electrical issue and conduct the initial furnace service at that time, then schedule the second service 1 year from that date. A couple days later we resolved the electrical issue (the wiring into the circuit breaker was loose) and called to schedule Allen to come back out. He was able to come out the afternoon we called and was right on time. He explained all the work he was doing, answered all our questions, gave his recommendations, and was very professional. We would definitely recommend them to anyone needing HVAC work. The fact all the service reports and payment was done through an iPad was a plus (Our receipt was emailed within a minute).

Checked: blower (mechanically, electrically, and acoustically) heat exchanger ignition assembly air throughput at the registers temperature at the registers cleaned the burners cleaned the heat exchanger tested for gas leaks inspected the wiring vacuumed the interior and a dozen other things I probably wasn't aware of

Description of Work: We contacted them in regards to electronic air filters for our home heating system and to potentially clean our ducts. Angie was very nice on the phone and scheduled an appointment for us on Saturday at 3:00 PM. We were home the entire time and no one showed up. We were disappointed as they came recommended from my doctor as a great contractor. We will not be having them back.

+ -1 moreThey have been fabulous. They were out of Kent but they came up here to do the service. Our heat went out and none of the other heating companies were calling us back as it was on a weekend. They called us back and they were out here within an hour of calling. They were the only people that my mother would use. So, she contacted them and asked them to take care of it. They took care of it even though they were not the main company in the area and it was some other company who wanted to charge us extra because it was considered an emergency. It was double the charge just to show up but they did not do that at all. They charged us the normal price. We ended up signing a service agreement with them for three years. It was $69 to show up versus the other company who wanted to charge us $275 to show up. It cost $69 to show up plus $76 to fix it. It was still under what the other company quoted us to show up. Even though it was the other company that installed the furnace for us because our house was newly built we would not with them because they were charging way too much. They were not willing to come out unless we paid the extra emergency fees. It is of course an emergency when your heater is out and that is what they would be dealing with. So, every time they come out they would be charging a huge extra amount of money because it is an emergency. You don't usually expect that from your heating company. We were very impressed with them. My mother referred them. She was really great about that and it did not hurt that she said that a couple of her grand daughters were there in freezing cold. They were so kind and very personable. We cannot say enough about them.
Description of Work: We used the services of AAA Heating & Air Conditioning on the 10th of December 2011. Our heat went out and they fixed it.

Like I said, we were shopping around and was really honest with him about that. We told him that we would be making a decision the next day and would let him know. Needless to say, Tony's estimate was great! We scheduled them to come in 3 days and they were great! They did everything like they said they would, they were punctual, neat, and informed us how to take care of our furnace. We are very happy with the service we received, not only from Tony, but from the entire AAA company and crew.

Description of Work: Found AAA on Angies List. Reason I contacted them was they had a $20 off coupon for first time customers (their sales force should pat themselves on the back as I would not have contacted otherwise). Angie answered the phone. She was very pleasant, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I am a little skeptical about Gas furnace maintenance since I just installed a brand new Lennox system three years ago. My dad has had his furnace for 25 years and nary a problem (no maintenance either). However, I was coming up to the end of the warranty on the entire install job that another company did. So, I wanted a company besides the company that installed my furnace to check it out (as the company that installed it would likely not tell me if there was a problem since they were the ones who installed it). I first chose AAA because of the coupon. I next chose AAA because of Angie. She thoroughly explained everything that is done and a solid logical rationale for getting yearly inspections on Gas furnaces. Additionally, the summer special of $97.00 was better than their first time customer discount of $20.00 off the regular $119.00 services (BTW, their "regular" price of $119.00 is among the lowest if not the lowest price you will find for gas furnace yearly maintenance). They gave me a window between 3-5pm on Friday 9-02-2011. I called Thursday and asked if they could make it closer to 3pm as my dad invited me to the Seahawks game (they Won, YESSS!!!!). AAA said they would do their best but no guarantees. Bryce showed up at 3:10 (cool, they were earlier than expected). He was very professional, wearing a uniform and had booties to put over his shoes (we don't where shoes in our house). He explained what he was going to do and did it. Bryce even cleaned my electronic air filer (which was not expected) AND cleaned out the calcium build-up on my Honeywell humidifier to boot (Thanks Bryce! You Rock Dude!). At the end (took just shy of two hours), he offered me a deal for $150.00 that I could not refuse. I got the 9-02-2011 service for $75.00 and next years service for $75.00 and numerous other insurance like benefits to boot (priority emergency, discounted emergency service, etc.). I am telling you, it is a KICK A** DEAL. You will be 100% satisfied. I do a lot of research before I choose a company and I write contracts for a living. I deal with contractors all the time and know a good company when I see one. What you get with AAA is the benefit of low overhead (equating to low prices) due to it being a small company, coupled with OUTSTANDING customer service making AAA definitely the best value for this type of service. I highly recommend AAA and hope that the owners give special recognition to 1) The one responsible for Angies List publishing and coupon (for attracting me to AAA), 2) Angie for being so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a shear pleasure to talk to and 3) Bryce for his outstanding professionalism and top-notch customer service.

He was courteous, pleasant and explained what he would be doing, how long it would take,etc. The one thing that initially annoyed me was this: upon arrival he launched into a sales pitch for a yearly maintenance plan(s) I did listen to the presentation and ultimately signed up for a 2 year program which did save me money overall. I normally have the system inspected every year, but had not done so for approximately 3 years. ( It's been my experience that preventive maintenance can save on costly repairs in the end). Bryce then performed the tune up which took about 2 hours. He then showed me what had been done including a couple adjustments, fixing a small water leak on the furnace, retaping insulation on my air conditioning unit, and asked if he could program our thermostat's high/low settings. He said both units looked good and praised our efforts at keeping our filter clean. I was happy with the service and have the added peace of mind of the warranty/maint. program.
Description of Work: I had a "precision tune up" done on both furnace and air conditioning units.

+ -1 moreI thought the job was very well done. It's a nice system. I haven't had any problems with it. They did a really good job. Everything was cleaned up. They had it installed within one or two days. They worked with me and knew exactly how I wanted it done. I thought they were extremely professional and they did a great job. The price was a little high. I had been looking around for quite a while and I don't remember what actually made me decide on them. I had priced units and had several people come in and it seemed like the best system with the best price. They have been calling me to come and check on the system regularly. Their follow-up is excellent. They want to come and look at it, service it, and make sure everything is going well with it. I think that is all part of the price too.

He got the fan moving, and also showed Mom how to change her settings and talked about other routine maintenance (Dad had always taken care of those things). He was prompt and courteous, and Mom was thrilled.

It was easy to make the appointment. The tech was great - careful to be neat - very respectful. After thoroughly checking it all out, he gave me helpful recommendations without pushing me to purchase stuff I didn't need. My folks used them a couple of years ago when they purchased a new furnace and a/c unit and were happy. Really pleased!

+ -1 moreInstead of charging me the quoted price of $45 that I was told over the phone, they insisted that the price was $65. When the part finally came in, the technician didn't bother to take off his shoes. There also was a part on the bottom of the refrigerator that wasn't attached. He didn't offer to make sure everything was alright. He didn't even bother to push the refrigerator back. He also left papers across the floor that had fallen out of his manual. The part was eventually fixed, but I would not contact this company for service again. He also left the check behind and had to call to come back and retrieve it.
Description of Work: My refrigerator went out on a weekend. This was the only company that answered on the weekend. They assured they would be out at the beginning of the week. They realized they needed to order a part, but they didn't bother to let me know that the shipping of the parts had been delayed. It took longer to get the parts in than we had expected.

HE HAD ALL THE PARTS NEEDED AND DID NOT LEAVE ANY MESSES IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM. THE JOB WAS COMPLETED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME, IN MY ESTIMATION.
Description of Work: OUR MAYTAG WASHER DID NOT WORK, IN WHICH THE WATER WOULD NOT COME ON TO FILL THE TANK. THE APPLIANCE REPAIRMAN FIXED THE PROBLEM, WHICH WAS A FAULTY LID SWITCH ASSEMBLY.
