Loren Snapp is a jack of all trades and master of nothing; worse yet, he's a liar and a dishonest cheat. Last spring, when he first assessed our tile job, and was specifically asked about the previously installed backer board, HE DID NOT MENTION ANY PROBLEMS. He required a 40% down payment ($3,000) for his labor, which I (foolishly) gave him. After 2 days work, and on the 3rd morning (when we could walk on the floor, and right before his crew showed up) we noticed a large number of areas with significant lippage. When this problem was addressed, he only offered excuses, claiming the floor was uneven; but he could fix it all by replacing a few tiles for which he expected ME to pay! He left in a huff, when I told him I needed a 2nd opinion. After several weeks of stalling tactics and un-returned phone calls, his eventual solution "that would make us BOTH happy" was to add $850 worth of undisclosed fees. These fees included $500 for two deliveries; and $350 for a "lost day". He claimed I should have known he would charge me for delivery. Out of all the laborers I have hired (tilers, roofer, carpenters, electricians, and plumber), not a single one charged a delivery fee. The "lost day" refers to when I caught his shoddy work. All of these new undisclosed fees conveniently added up to my $3,000 deposit. After many attempts, he would not budge on his position; so I took him to small claims court, where he lied, claiming he told my husband the subfloor and backer board were uneven. How convenient for him my husband was not present in court. Thankfully, the judge saw right through him and awarded me $3,000 (which he has not paid). I would have won more, but I lacked proof of the cost to replace his work. $3,000 does not begin to cover our loss of material and time; cost to rip up and replace his work; and stress! The pictures I've attached are only a tip of the iceburg displaying this man's talent. It wasn't long before one of the tiles he had so sloppily installed onto a wood step fell off. Our new tilers, along with several others from whom we received quotes, informed us that tile is NEVER installed directly onto wood. Loren Snapp's new business name should be "Floorz an MESS"! This fall, we finally removed his work, and could not be more pleased with the new results (P&A Flooring)!
